Robert Garst: I was disappointed in several aspects of my recent experince with Ralph Smith Auction Realty.Pictures of the item I won were taken from a fairly wide angle and didn't reveal several areas of minor damage or a missing part. Intentional? I don't know, I'd give them the benefit of the doubt but consider some other aspects of my experience.In the online auction conducted on January 3rd, 2022 I noted the same HiBid account placing bids up to the maximums on multiple (over a dozen) higher-value lots in many different categories, but not winning any of them. Keep that in mind when setting your max bid and responding to other bidders in Ralph Smith online actions. I increased my bid once in response just once, which added $28.75 to my total, before noticing this behavior.In my case I had the item shipped to me. The "quality" of shipping was fine; the item was well-packged and arrived in the expected condition. But Dustin did not follow through on shipping the item on the date initially discussed and I had to remind him with a follow-up call. In that follow-up he didn't remember any of the details we'd spoken about the first time, and asked me to resend an email with the necessary details.Finally, it's tough to compare shipping prices, but in this case I had a similar size/weight item shipped to me by another auctioneer using the same service (FedEx) the week prior. I live in Michigan; shipping that item from Oregon was $48, from Ralph Smith in southern Indiana it was $57. Not sure how it cost $9 more for a shorter distance. But the worst aspect of the shipping was that Ralph Smith Auction Realty applied the buyers premium to my shipping charge. I've purchased from many different auctioneers over the past four years and handling charges are common, but encountering a company that charges buyers premium on shipping is a first for me.

Alex Williams: First off doesn't have auction preview like all the rest do. I think this hurts both the sellers and the buyers since you can't be sure of what you are purchasing. Which in return causes bids to be lower.Very unorganized.

The item I paid close to a hundred dollars for was in great conditionin but covered in mold and smelled so bad it has to be stored outside for now. No mention of the mold in the listing. First purchase from this company and my last. Buyers beware

jamie gish: We buy alot at auctions, this was our1st time with this company. The pick up time was only 4 hours long . We have been standing in line for an hour & the line hasn't moved. Plus noone told us and there were no signs stating you had to pay first... so people were having to leave the long line to pay while losing their space. I have never had to wait this long at pickup. I feel they were unorganized & maybe not prepared for this amount of people.A bad experience, wont be back .

Kyla Edge: Clarification regarding the owner’s response: my review is based on the company’s mishandling of the situation, not on the buyer’s failure to follow through with the deal.Incompetent from start to finish.1. The buyer was given the access code to the key lock to unlock buyer the property unescorted at will.2. Curan Miller failed to collect the earnest money from the buyer, despite telling me that they had done so.3. I found out through the title company that the closing was pushed back a week after I called to confirm everything was on schedule.4. The buyer did not follow through with the deal, and I was left without recourse due to Curan Miller’s failure to collect the earnest money as required.5. I relied on Curan Miller to my detriment. The market shifted during this time, rates increased, the odds of selling the property dropped, I did not even receive the earnest money I was due. To be fair and transparent, Curan Miller refunded the advertisement money I paid and sent a check for $1000 dollars as an “apology,” but claimed that they owed me nothing.6. After several more weeks of no progress, I requested that the key to the property be mailed to my home address. The envelope was postmarked a couple weeks after my request was made, and it arrived empty. There is a slit on the side of the envelope. I presume the key punctured the thin paper envelope somewhere in transit and was lost. This was completely avoidable. The key could have been place in a folded envelope that was placed inside the mailing envelope. Alternatively, all edges of the envelope could have been reinforced with tape.7. Ultimately, I have lost time and money attempting to work with Curan Miller. Their negligence and gross mishandling of this situation at ever turn is astonishingly unprofessional and unacceptable.

Curran Miller was able to reach a larger scope of potential buyer that I would have been able to on my own. I was able to sell for the pricing I expected, and Curran Miller helped me contact buyers after sell in order to sell accessories I had for particular guns.My second experience working with Curran Miller was after I placed my mom and her husband in an assistant living facility. They had lived in their home for 40+ yrs with two woodworking shops. I was overwhelmed with the task of removing all possessions and woodworking equipment in order to sell house. Wendy Miller came in with her team and it was amazing to watch this team work together and catalog all items. What I thought was going to take days only took a few hours! Everyone on the team was very courteous and efficient.I HAVE and will continue to recommend Curran Miller Auction.
