The Brickyard Apartments: what do users think?
Cal Gamer: Kirsten Galloway has made our move to apartment living uncomplicated and pleasant. She has addressed our needs and answered our questions in a timely manner. When I asked her to seek someone in the complex to whom I could gift bulk food that my finicky cat would not eat, she responded by doing me that favor.
V T: The Brickyard Apartments is a place with a convenient location for stores and restaurants on the west side of Evansville. The landscape is beautiful! The lake is in front of your eyes with geese and ducks to watch, and even a blue heron occasionally visits this lake; during the night you can definitely hear an owl. I've seen people fishing but I never tried once. Inside the apartment is also pretty cool - a huge kitchen with a granite counter. Love it! You can easily maintain cleanness with a wooden floor and a hidden laundry room. For me personally, these two things - location and apartment design - are too important before I move in anywhere. The big plus is that the Brickyard has a fenced area for dogs to play and just walk freely without a leash. I would probably live here forever if not for my desire for a more private life where neighbors are not stomping their feet above you and not communicating too loudly deep at night even though I realized that I could be a bit loud to the neighbor too when staying up late at night...The cabinet doors and room doors are not easy to close without a slam (lol). I try my best.I really wish they lower their pet fee. $35.00 per pet is a bit too high. Most apartments are having $25.00 per pet.We never tried the pool here yet since the time we moved in November, the pool was already closed for the winter. The fitness room is a pretty cool addition, but due to my lack of time, I haven't worked out there either. And again, it's just me and my desire for privacy - that's all.Maintenance. I can't say anything bad about them. We had a broken piece on our blinds that covers a sliding door with the view of the lakefront. I put in an order for repair, choose a convenient for me time and the maintenance guy was there at that exact time (impressive!). He fixed the problem quickly, leaving no mess behind. So, I'm satisfied with that. The guys also seem to be friendly and simple to talk to.Office ladies. I met only two of them Kristen and Whitney and both of them were helpful. Sometimes, they are not very talkative but I personally used to trust these kind people more than those with fake smiles on their faces. Whenever I asked Kirsten a question, she always had an answer to it.Naturally, having no experience living in apartments, I had loads of questions. Kristen instructed me on outgoing mail and the electricity — when I worried that I haven't received the first bill yet. She explained that it could take longer because we just moved in recently. I like the fact that she stays until 6 pm in the office. I was running late one evening after work - a minute-two after six, and she didn't hesitate to listen to me and advised me on the issue.Besides the pet fee, one more thing I will like to bring to their attention. It's very cold in the apartment during winter due to poor isolation on the door and the windows. Surely, the wind sounds beautiful and soothing, but the furnace worked all the time during those cold days we experienced here in December-January.Thank you, guys, for all your hard work!
Leeann Butrum: There were a lot of wonderful things about living at the Brickyard. Whitney in the office was ALWAYS extremely kind and prompt in her responses. I loved the layout of my townhome and it was spacious and quiet (I never heard my neighbors). I liked the valet trash service and appreciated the ample parking! I always felt safe here, and enjoyed the pool for the brief time it was open this season. The downsides are the price and the fact that they prefer you pay via the app but it charges an extra $38 each month to pay that way, which really adds up. I also completely disagreed with several things they charged me for upon move out which conveniently used up all of my deposit but that wasn't a battle I had the energy to fight. Overall it's a pretty nice place to live if you can afford it! Shout out to Whitney- she was always the preferred person to deal with in the office!
Kearon Stinson: My partner and I had lived there a little over a year and truly enjoyed it. Our home was spacious and updated. Every neighbor we ever had there is very kind and friendly. The office staff is wonderful especially Whitney. She’s so kind and is willing to help whenever possible. We found a house and have since moved but if you’re looking for a beautiful apartment home in Evansville, you need to check out the Brickyard!
Furniture Fetchers: Very professional and courteous staff. We have moved several people into these apartments and it’s always been a pleasure places are clean and well designed for living purposes. Very friendly atmosphere.
Lesli Davis: Beautiful apartment community
Karmyn Vallee: clean and well maintained property and the office staff is super friendly and helpful!!
cierra vallee: Staff and management are very friendly! Apartments are spacious and located in a nice quiet area which is huge plus. Highly recommend!
kathleen jones: Very clean peaceful area
Brianne Akey: It's very upsetting when it is advertised to incoming renters about having different amenities, including two saltwater pools, and it's not swimmable to the current people that live here. Brickyard advertises these amenities, but if someone speaks up with an issue, they say we don't pay amenity rent, only rent for our living space. We all know when people look for apartments they look for certain amenities, such as a pool, and places that don't have them have cheaper rent. Sometimes it's not open on time, but will open at noon or later. If that is the case, I thought it would be to clean the pools but it's not. Every time I have come to swim I have had to skim the pool. There are leaves and debris surrounding the pool where you walk. The pool table is broke and you get 6 lounge chairs for the hundreds of residents. Please do better.
J. VALLEE: I used to work there on a painting crew. Always professionalism coming out of this place.
Marisa Sprinkle: My husband and I have lived here over a year now and have truly enjoyed it. Our home is spacious and updated. Every neighbor we’ve had is very kind and friendly. The office staff is wonderful…especially Cindy. She’s so kind and is willing to help whenever possible. We’re actually looking forward to living here for years to come!If you’re looking for a beautiful apartment home in Evansville, you need to check out the Brickyard!!
Soumen Chatterjee: I lived there for quite some time and I would say I would NEITHER COME BACK NOR RECOMMEND ANYONE to come here and stay.First, this property has a very high rental fees and they change their policies and rules and regulations behind the scene without informing residentsSecond, they find out opportunity to charge you for some reasons or the other.Third, WORST MAINTENANCE ever. My kitchen counter top was broken and damaged for 4 years and they did not even bother to change it. Every time we called, the response was we do not have right people available.Same happened to our windows. You cannot open half of the windows and we reported it after the very first week when we moved into the property but nothing happened in four years.Bulbs run out, inside as well as outside. There was a entry gate and security keys etc...it was broken by somebody without punishing that guy, they removed the gate itself.Fourth, worst people in the office. Illogical arguments. They love to find out opportunities to apply a charge to you.So, yes the apartment complex from outside looks shiny...BUT ALL THAT SHINES ARE NOT GOLD.I would have given them -5 rating if I could. Go for other apartments ... they offer much more than these people.
Kelsi Ham: Great place to live. No issues. Maintenance is very prompt. The management office is terrible. We felt as though I was putting her out to do her job that she is paid to do. It has been a full 3 days. I still don't have a solution to the billing error.
Kristin Smith: We lived at the Brickyard for one year and this is one of the nicest and well kept properties in the Evansville area! The Assistant Property Manager, Brittany, was awesome to work with and super friendly! The maintenance team was also great and quick to respond to any service calls. These apartments are updated and spacious too! I would definitely recommend this property if you’re in the area and looking for a place to call home!
Daniel Hiatt: Lived there for a good while unfortunately. While the neighborhood is well kept by extremely nice maintenance men who are great, however the staff management that sits inside is probably the rudest set of people I have ever come encountered. We have dealt with many different changes while living there with staff. We also have dealt with many weird issues there. While is a safe neighborhood, there are some issues with surrounding area of kids breaking into cars. It's happened a few times.Don't expect luxury living like they state. It's very smoke and mirrors. Cheap walls and fixtures. It's not as nice as you might think and its very deceiving. Now for our big issues. We had a dog that had seizures and the manager at the time told us that we should "put him down" because he would sometimes be a little loud while having them. The manager then called a vet and scheduled us an appointment because she believed our vet wasn't good enough. *Note- This was under old management and ownership, but still my experience with overall time of living there. New corporate asked me to change note this.*Also same manager blamed us for smoking and throwing the butts outside. I don't smoke, never have and told her I am allergic to most smoke. It was the neighbor doing it, but they blamed us. Never apologized about it once they found out. They also blamed us for being loud and fighting one weekend. Come to find out we were out of town and it was the neighbors. They just are quick to come at you without actually knowing. *Note- This was under old management and ownership, but still my experience with overall time of living there. New corporate asked me to change note this.*Over time, staff management did change but never once have had a nice staff. They are very demanding and cold like. They expect you to be perfect when they are not. I get apartment management is hard, but they don't care about their tenants, just money. Being a local business owner, I am offended the way they handle business. I feel sorry for the new company that bought the complex a few years ago, they got taken. Also be prepared to pay a trash service fee of $20, that the apartment makes a lot on. The company charges them around $11 per apartment, so Brickyard make an extra $9 or so on already high rent. They won't admit it, but I know other apartment managers elsewhere they use these services at their complex. It's a huge cash grab and nickel and dime for residents. Its 100% enforced you use it.Parking also is not great, as management doesn't enforce tenants guest taking up spots infant of your place. Sometimes I would have to park across the street or down a bit while carrying groceries in, while neighbors friends would park in front of our complex while hanging out. Complained a few times, nothing was done. They don't care.I will add this to my revised review. I lived there for a good while, never was late or had a late fee. We moved out and waited on a bill in which we never received in the mail, but they said they sent. The management never once contacted me until one day they threatened collections. Never called, just a cold email. I paid it that same day. On top of that, there was a late fee added to the bill I owed. All these years and they charged me a late fee when I was moving out. Just the amount of greediness is extremely petty.I was hesitant about writing this, but I felt people need to know about my experience living there .Of course there is a lot more that went on. Overall, I would avoid this place and go elsewhere. Many places in Evansville, this is one to avoid. I just feel the attitude is very poor and hopefully they can fix their local staff.
Cameron Cox: DO NOT LIVE HERE! Don’t let the nice area and living spaces fool you. Although it is very appealing to the eye, the management side of this place is the worst I have ever seen at any residential place. They are absolutely terrible at communication and they will secretly charge you for stuff on your apartment without telling you! Although it was a nice area to live in, I will never live here again after all of the problems we had with the management team.
JACOB WISNIEWSKI: DO NOT RENT HERE!!! Find somewhere else at all costs. There are plenty of better places to live in Evansville so do not settle for this place. They clearly do not know how to run a business. They are unable to fulfill the simplest tasks and are unbelievably disorganized. They will make you hate living there.
Spencer Cox: WARNING - BEWARE!!! The property and living conditions are good. The staff and anyone that you have to talk to who works here is terrible. They are unable to answer the phone or complete any kind of task in a timely manner. They will do their best to completely ruin your living experience at this property. NEVER EVER AGAIN WILL I DO BUSINESS WITH THIS PROPERTY.
Lacey Lee: I initially moved in two years ago and had zero issues with management and genuinely enjoyed the property....when it was privately owned. Once Monarch Investments took over, the apartment complex went down the drain. The company tried to scam my roommate and I out of THOUSANDS of dollars when our lease expired by us not signing a'notice of intent to vacate' (a piece of paper they left TAPED TO THE DOOR....not emailed...not mailed...TAPED TO THE DOOR when both of us had moved out prior to the notice because of Covid and never got any notice of the extended lease until a phone call two months after the piece of paper had been taped to our door). After convincing the company it was wrong for them to charge us more months rent by allowing them to keep our deposit in exchange, they then charged us more once our lease had expired for 'damages' that did not exist, but (EVEN IF THEY DID EXIST) should have been covered by the deposit that THEY KEPT! It was an awful experience and I would give negative stars if I could. Bring back Roxanne.
Beth Maland: This is a very nice place to live in. There are a few issues but overall a great place.
