Oak Hill Cemetery and Arboretum: what do users think?
Jordan Baer: There are so many historical figures from the past here you could spend days if not months visiting all of the famous graves so I decided to visit graves that are a little less famous but just as historically significant to Evansville. Those graves are Evansville Crimson Giants players Winfield Denton and Menz Lindsey who played on Evansville's only NFL team. The online directory made it super easy to find where they were located so I didn't have to spend hours and hours driving through the whole cemetery looking for them as I do when I visit out of town cemeteries.
A Hatfield: One of the most scenic and historic in the area
C Porter: Very nice facility respecting our loved ones in time place to see marble Statues .
lil crow: DO NOT GO HERE AFTER MIDNIGHT AT ALL THIS PLACE IS CRAWLING WITH SKIN WALKERS AND BANSHEES AT NIGHT IF YOU ARE THERE AND YOU HEAR THE LOUD HIGH PITCHED SCREAM RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!!!!!
thomas grzegorczyk: Beautiful place to lay your head when it's over! Peaceful and perfect!
Squrl Life: I have generations of my family buried here. I'm concerned with many of the stones that are sinking and those that are broken, trees growing into stones, etc.
Alex Matas: A beautiful place of reconciliation
Adam Morris: Unfortunate that you can't dig your own bodies and have to pay the crew to dig one up for you. But in all seriousness, Oak Hill Cemetary was a hot-spot burial ground for Romani Gypsys a back in the early 1900s. The first was a Gypsy queen who was buried in the late 1890s. She was brought here and stored for a few months until the tribe could gather to pay last respects. About 4,000 people showed up to watch the traditional burning of their wagon, but there was no burning and apparently the whole ordeal was uneventful. Her husband later died and is buried next to her. I believe they are in lot 23, just past the Civil War statues. Look for an obelisk. There are other Gypsys there, last one was buried in the 1960s, but all of their grave sites are rather uneventful. Maybe we should try to change that.
David Lambert: Nice place to take a walk or go for a jog. Not very many people there and in a iffy part of town so it might be better if accompanied. I take my dog regularly and he loves to chase the geese as far as his leash will let him. Big loop is a touch over a mile if I remember correctly.
Ben Sloan: Peaceful place to go for a run at
Liz Ertle: Amazing staff! Beautiful peaceful grounds full of history.
Shelby Shepherd: Such a beautiful large commentary with lots of history and beautiful large trees. Its 175 acres. We parked and walked around
Zach B: Curious about why the staff would be okay with literally dropping a casket on its way to its final resting place instead of asking for assistance from volunteers or the funeral guests? Quite disgusting that you would treat ANYONE, let alone an individual who was so dear to SO many people with such disrespect. The service was wonderful. But seeing the staff literlite drop the person that meant so much to me... That is something i truly cannot even comprehend. I will hope and pray that the staff themselves aren't treated the same way they treat others when their final days are over. I will spread word FAR and WIDE about the horrifying experience so many witnessed that day. Truly shameful. Heartbroken.
S J: Still don't know when it closes but I saw my brother buried
Iambydefault: It's a nice place to walk. Could use better grounds keeping.
Sean: Beatiful landscaping
Brad Hast: Typically haven't had issues but this time different. 8/2016 found the grounds keeping to be in unacceptable shape. The grass was ankle high and many of the headstones were covered in cut grass from previous cuts. I was embarrassed for the grounds crew. SHAMEFUL !
Jondi Soper: What a beautiful cemetery with so much history! I'm glad Pokemon Go got me in there to explore! Gorgeous!
Carol Clark: Beautiful and well kempt.

Park Lawn Cemetery & Mausoleum: what do users think?
Erik Varden: My parents and all of my Dad's side of the family is buried there. I've been super pleased and the grounds always look great.
elaundrea majors (Moma Dukes): It is like my second home”In loving Memory Brittany N Wicklein”They accepted my daughter and she burried next to her Papa, clean cemetery,Love Mrs Becky she wrk in the office and usually you have a wait when it pertain’s the stone”God is Amazing that all I can say her stone is down waiting on the vase to come in and also working on my second lot”Can’t complain”God is all-ways on time!!..Thank you Parklawn..
Crystal Stuckey: My family took pictures there today!!! There is mold, bugs, fungus and just dirty in the mausoleum!!! People should not have to deal with being upset over the conditions when visiting their loved ones!!!!
Lynn Baughn: This cemetery does not deserve any stars, and I really hate giving them one! The owner, and the workers do not care about their cemetery or the families that come to visit their loved ones!
vicki barnes: I think it is sad that they charge more to pour the concrete slab(the foundation for the marker) than the entire marker itself cost with engraving delivery and setup. Shame on you Parklawn!
Patricia Barsumian: My daughter passed away August 30. The gravestone finally arrived prior to Thanksgiving. I have begged and begged but Park Lawn has not yet found time to pour the footer so the stone may be installed. This is extremely upsetting to us all. I am praying that they will understand this pain and the pain of others who are waiting. There should be no reason why this can not be accomplished by Christmas.
Shasta Ligon: Hi my name is Marcia and my mother is buried in the mausoleum also and vandals have ripped off the metal holder for the flower vase. I have also been dealing with getting this fixed since Mother's Day and have yet to receive a call back or get it fixed. The flowers vases have been stolen several times and after so many you have to buy your own and replace them. I am deeply disappointed in the Cemetery and how they respond to issues. Just last night a friend and I , she has her veteran husband buried there, were discussing the issued she has also had there with her plot . So sad the deceased get no respect.
Shannon Bradley: My dad was laid to rest in the mausoleum area in 2015. He is entombed on the very top (about 15 feet up), which I hate because we can't even reach it to put anything on his grave. So we took advantage of the option to pay Park Lawn an annual fee to change the flowers in the vase attached to his tomb. They are to do this 4x a year. It is now June, and my dad still has Christmas flowers on his grave. On Memorial Day, I was certain the flowers would be changed. They weren't, so I scurried around at the last minute and at least bought a potted flower to sit on the ground by the mausoleum in his honor. I also spoke to a Park Lawn employee who was there that day. She took my name and number and assured me the flowers would be changed and someone would call me. It is now 4 days later. Dad still has Christmas flowers on his grave (because I have checked) and nobody has called. My dad was a great man and a veteran, and he deserves better than to just be forgotten like this. I also wonder how many people have paid to have flowers put on their loved one's grave and have no idea that it isn't happening.
Josiah Wright: Beautiful Place.
Gabe Cartwright: The way the remove flowers from Graves and thrombosis them in a pit with rotting live flowers along with throwing American flags in this pit as well they a disrespectful
M R: Marinlana Washington

Alexander Memorial Park: what do users think?
jim rose: I had an excellent experience with the good people at alexanders
Peggy Dant: A very attentive and helpful representative. All our questions were answered professionally and in a comfortable atmosphere.
Cindy Freeman: The service was good and everything went according to plan.
Denise Bean: Every one was extremely compassionate. They were also quite knowledgeable about matters outside of the funeral: social security, handling outstanding bills, banking, getting help from medicaid - if they didn't know the full answer to something, they'd point us in the direction of someone who could answer our questions. Jennifer & Dan were both outstanding to work with.
Robyn Oglesby: Very helpful and knew how to make the process easier for me.
david pressley: The staff and facility were exceptional. All things were handled professionally and with great care and concern for our family.
Joel Beliles: I had a very positive experience with Alexander Funeral Service’s.From the beginning to the end I had help whenever I needed it.Every phase of the process was met with kindness and understanding. . I’m extremely grateful to walk away from this sorrowful time feeling comfortably at peace with all that had been arranged. That is a very big thing.
Kori Miller: Alexander was very professional and personal. They made everything very easy during a difficult time.
Kim Allen: The staff was very professional and went above and beyond to make this experience as memorable as possible.
Kristina Higgs: Very neat and nicely kept up
Sandy Smith: My family has used Alexander West for as long as I remember. Aunts, Uncles, Mother, Father Cousins and Friends. It's just a turdishion. They go above and beyond service. Thank you for all your years of service.
Annette Stanley: I chose to put my mom and dads ashes in the "garden" as I call it and I was very pleased with the help and experience of the staff and members. They were so helpful and made the whole experience much less painful. There are so many options to choose from and I will be with my mom and dad when I pass. Thank you Alexander for all your help and I will see you again. Bless you all ! Annette Stanley
Linda Wire: My moms service was so nice. And workers was very polite and professional! Made my family feel good!Thank you!
Black 82 ford: If you want a place that you can pay respects to your loved ones then I would not choose this one every item I leave is taken from my plot that I paid for I'm not renting the plot I'm not leaving glass items like a shepherd's hook can easily be weeded around worst of all they take my items I paid for but leave grass and sticks on top of headstone something is really wrong here
jennifer collins: Why did I receive the work order for having my mother's marker placed? Is this a new policy, because I've never received a work order for any other issues pertaining to my father's grave/marker, or is this the office manager being passive aggressive with my husband due to him going in and stating that we had not been contacted in regards to when the marker had been placed. When the office mgr. said they did try to call me (unknown to me the answering machine had been turned off) and my husband replied 3 days after the fact and that the lead maintenance man told him face to face it was taken care of. Why would I want this? Why would I want to see this in my grief? I have never received completed work orders in the past, I know I'm repeating myself. This was horrible customer service, and your name belies itself, your office staff (with the exception of Jennifer) do not have any dignity. They do not show dignity to the grieving families and if it wasn't for me and my husband requesting the grave of my father and those around being taken care of, Lord knows how they would look. Additionally, we went to five, FIVE, different water pumps in the cemetery and not one of them worked, but miraculously the water spigot by the office did. I REFUSE to be one of those people who haul water in a bucket in my car to have water for the flowers and to clean the markers. I've seen too many elderly people haul water out of their cars because bless their hearts they know it will not be found in this cemetery. Absolutely disgusting care considering how much you rob, I mean sell, these gravesites to families. Thirty six years ago my mother was lied by the office staff (I know before it was Dignity) when she purchased the two plots, and since then I've had to demand my father's grave and those around him to be taken care of, and now this pettiness four months after my mother's passing. If I had the means, I would exhume my parents and move them to a better maintained cemetery. I've tried to maintain a professional demeanor when dealing with the office at Alexander Memorial, but I'm not for certain if they deserve that respect when they clearly do not show respect for the dead or for the grieving families.
Vi Ritzert: Wonderful, peaceful and very courteous to help you through a difficult time

Locust Hill Cemetery and Arboretum: what do users think?
Jan: Many of my family members are here and I will someday join them.
Jordan Baer: A nice cemetery with great history both locally and nationally. James Bethel Gresham is 1 of 3 to be considered the first American to die in WWI. I took a framed photo from the Evansville Wartime Museum to Merle Hay's grave in Glidden, Iowa, Thomas Enright's grave in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and finally Gresham's grave here. All 3 have markers commemorating them but Locust Hill has a lot more than the others so definitely take the visit to the cemetery.
Megan McAllister: Nice enough but how is this considered an arboretum? There's barely any trees and definitely not more trees than any other cemetery.
Trent Dirks: This is a nice cemetery in the north side of town that actually contains the burial site of the first American to die in world war I. It was a young man from Evansville who had the unfortunate distinction of being the first American to die in the Great war and subsequently buried at the locust Hill cemetery in Evansville. This memorial site is where the flag flies in the cemetery.

Black 82 ford: IF you want a place to pay respects to your loved ones then I would not choose this PLACE they remove every single item that you leave I can see the problem with glass but flowers that are fake or a shepherd hook that could be easily weeded around is I see no reason to remove and I have watched the maintenance workers take them home but they don't MIND LEAVING DEAD GRASS AND STICKS ON THE PLOT WE PAID FOR WE ARE NOT RENTING that's why I just can't take this anymore I have family in other cemeteries in town AND not once have we had this problem
Bryan King: Historical, Beautiful rolling hills

Fey Weye: They are very considerate and compassionate when dealing with details of caring for your loved ones. If your loved one is resident of Indiana medical facility, apply for Indiana Medicaid, they will pay $1200 toward cremation and Sunset waives anything over that simple cremation.Urns and keepsakes you have to pay for but those come in various sizes and prices. They even have floating containers that dissolves in Lake Sunset. If you like, they have plots to lay ashes to rest in tubes. After care for mourners is a nice touch as they contact you to see how you are doing, and ask if there's anything they can help with.I'm sure they would welcome preplanning your own send off if you wish to do so to save your loved ones the pain and confusion.Bless all who must go through all of this. Give yourself permission to cry, to grieve, and to heal. It's natural. It's how we are supposed to be. Once the heavy grieving is over, celebrate their lives with all the best memories and photos. Remember the best times, let the rest go.God Bless you all.(Rest in Peace Michael).
