The Newburgh Locks and Dam is located on the Ohio River near Newburgh, Indiana, at mile 776.1 below Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is about 16 miles upstream from Evansville, Indiana. The Navigation locks are located on the right descending bank or Indiana side of the river. The upper pool maintained above the dam extends upstream for a distance of 55.4 miles to the Cannelton Locks and Dam at mile 720.7.
Newburgh Locks and Dam was authorized as a replacement for existing Locks and Dams 46 and 47 on April 24, 1962, by Secretary of the Army under authority of Section 6 of the Rivers and Harbors Act approved March 3, 1909.

J. Cahill: Good place to take the kids an dog. Let them run and play its quiet an peacful. U can walk the trails along the river watch the barges come an go. I love the barges alwyas been fascinated with them.
Brenda Clements: watching the locks n dam, children can swing n slide. Very nice big play ground to enjoy the day with family. under the large covered pavilion.
Alex Michael: This place is awesome! Obviously not a huge location but the view is beautiful and rarely anyone in the park. You can walk to downtown Newburgh and get a pretty good workout as the trailers go through the woods and up by an old fort!

Jess Ehm: Small park with picnic tables and playground equipment.Unfortunately, not a great viewing area to see boats actually go through the dam. It would be nice if they'd build an observation tower.

Kevin Brown: Great place to visit. The view of the dam is really nice and theres a good picnic area and kids playground too. Also theres a trail that starts there and you can walk all through downtown Newburgh, 2.5 miles . I reccomend going here if just to see the view of the dam.

Muffin_Pat_axolotl _: Great food and service, I felt welcome the entire time. The server was kind and generous and recieved a great tip. The decor was atmospheric. Management even stopped by to check how the food was. Speaking of food, it was served promptly and was delicious. Would give 6 stars if I could!
Human Being: Great guys that handle truck delivery. If you are delivering in a truck go in the west Darlington entrance. You can get in the other way but it's much cleaner on the west Darlington entrance
