Talley Eye Institute: what do users think?
Corrine Davis: Dr Somerville saved my moms vision and mine. I am so grateful for him and all that he did for me! He squeezed me in and saved my eye sight! How can I ever repay him for that hat he did for me! Thank you thank you
laura Sommerfield: Dr Silvera excellent, the nurses all very friendly as well as front desk staff, and anesthesiologist was “super” - when I admitted that I get sick from anesthesia, he injected medicine that keeps that from happening. It worked! First time I’ve not gotten sick from sedation! 👍
Troy Stoll: I called 6/17/22 and cancelled all my appointments with Talley Eye Center. Their follow-through was poor and I lost confidence in them as a result. I feel like I need to write this as much for the management team of Talley as the general public. This will be a longer than usual review for me, but these things need to be said...I was referred by my local opthamologist who I like and have a great deal of confidence in. He liked Talley and I was referred for a vitrectomy to remove floaters and in particular, a giant floater stuck in the center of my vision. In the course of consulting for that procedure, it was also determined that I had a mild cataract that needed to be removed before the vitrectomy. So far, so good, but here's where the problems started...My second consult at Talley was with the doctor who was to remove the cataract and during that consultation, he told me that it was possible my new lense may move during the second surgery to remove the floaters and as a result, I may need glasses after the surgery. I accepted this with some disappointment and after I got home and had more time to dwell on that possibility, I decided that I wanted to discuss it further with the staff. Were they simply talking reading glasses which I occasionally use now, or were they talking glasses for distance activities like driving, which I DON'T need now? I was really struggling with the idea of going into two surgeries, shelling out about $6,000 and potentially needing glasses that I don't use now even with the problems I have.I called back three separate days the week before my first surgery, telling the staff that I had concerns and wanted to speak with the surgeon or someone on his staff to get some clarifications before I went into surgery next Tuesday. Three. Separate. Days. Nothing...absolute crickets. By the Thursday before my surgery, I was supposed to have pre-op prescriptions called in at my local pharmacy. Again...I heard nothing. It was a much different experience than when I was called at home, at work and on my cell phone earlier in the week to arrange pre-payment for the doctor. They were pretty aggressive on that end and even though I was a self-pay, there was no talk about any level of discount for getting their money up front and not having to deal with insurance. Finally, four days before my surgery, I reached my breaking point and called Talley to cancel all future appointments and surgical procedures. They asked if I wanted to reschedule and I told them I wouldn't reschedule anything until someone called me back and addressed some pre-surgery concerns. I then talked to billing and was told that the $1600 they promptly charged to my credit card may take a week or two to get refunded. Ultimately I was refunded $1,192 with ZERO explanation regarding the missing $408.All in all, a POOR experience. I believe there are good people who work there and as a result, it's hard for me to write this review, but everyone has their breaking point and I finally reached mine. I believe I'm a more patient person than most as I understand what it's like to work with the public in a busy setting. I manage my own company and I would absolutely expect frustration and poor reviews if I ignored not one, not two but three seperate phone calls over three different days. I know what being busy is, but that is inexcusable. I called my local opthamologist to share my experience and ask for another referral elsewhere. He apologized for something he had no need to apologize for. Before the end of the day, he had two other options for the surgeries I will eventually get. I know he was busy too, but he recognized a need and he followed through. Sometimes, I stay at my office until well after closing time to return phone calls that I could not get to during the day. That's what customer service is about. My experience here is a case study in how to lose customers and run a good business into the ground.
Daniel Gunther: Good place. Dr. Strand is awesome. However the wait times here are ridiculous. They always over schedule. Just when you get some relief from finally being called back they take a couple pictures of your eyes, then put in in another waiting room in the back to wait some more, then finally call you to a room for the final wait. Plan on at least two hours past your appointment time for a visit. Should you get out before then, great.
Katie Miller: In for the money, unprofessional, do not go here.
Jennifer McClaren: Detail oriented / informative professional staff.
mike faulkenburg: My wife was having trouble following a surgery. We were concerned it was an emergency situation. Dr Silvera took our call at 3 am and met us on a Sunday morning at the office to address the issue. Class act.
Mary Ann Pool: My only complaint is with one lady, whom I assume was a nurse. I had cataract surgery and a couple of days later had a very scary episode where I could hardly breath. In reading my paperwork from Talley’s and also the possible side affects that accompanied the eye drops I was prescribed, they both said breathing difficulties could be a side affect. On Talley’s paperwork they said to call immediately if that happened, which I did. This woman said that it was impossible that that particular drop would cause that, it never had, and they put that warning on all drug labels. She failed to address the warning on Talley’s paperwork. Not only was she rude and hateful, she was condescending and showed no compassion for a patient that had experienced something that was very scary. She all but called me a liar. In my opinion, she has no business working in this field. As far as everyone else I have had contact with at Talley’s and the Surgery Center, they have been top notch.
Sarah Muntzer: Very tidy and modern facility with professionals and staff who are both friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend them to anyone in need of specialty eye care!
Mike-Martha Pitt: Although the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, the last 3 visits, the wait has been over an hour to even get into a room. Then more time before being seen. Today was an emergency situation and it was relatively soon after lunch to be running over an hour behind. Treatment is great. Service needs some work.
Hollie Ambrose: Very happy with my results and would highly recommend!
Lee Tien: The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable what they do. I have an emergency on my eye, call and they see me right away. Plenties of follow up visits to ensure my surgery went well. The facility is up to date with the latest equipment.
Jenny Strine: Very informative on macular I have and prepared me on what would happen when they numed me for the shot in eye
Vicki Herbert: Dr. Silvera and his staff were absolutely wonderful. Recommend Talley Eye Institute to any one that needs eye surgery.
Matthew Tanner: Appointments are a joke here. Do not expect to be called back at your time , even when you show up early.Brought someone here twice so far and both times we arrived 15 minutes early. Both times, not called back for 45 minutes. Spoke with from desk and was told appointments last 2 hours (they do not) and the appointment time is only an estimate and could be an hour or more wait. How this place is in business, I have no idea. I can see one appointment being problematic due to scheduling or getting busy. When you show up and there's 2 people in the waiting area...a 1 hour wait should not be the norm.
Janet Palaggi: Dr. Ellingson and his very friendly staff are doing a great job keeping an eye (no pun intended) on my eyes to keep my sight and my eyes as healthy as possible.
Chuck Knoll: Dr. Silvera in Evansville, Indiana did a fantastic job on my LASIK surgery. I’m now 20/15 at age 58! He explained the procedure thoroughly with no surprises. The procedure has minor discomfort but lasts for about an hour after the process. I’m now appreciating what I was missing in my vision precision!!If your thinking about do this procedure don’t hesitate. It’s worth it to see clearly!Ofc. Chuck KnollEvansville Police Department (ret.)
Anna Hatfield: I have went to Talley Eye Institute and was seen two different times ! They do a great job being so nice and understanding with you while your in their care. If you need questions answered by someone working their, they will find someone to answer your question. Their very helpful ! Great job!
Rick Gahagen: After several visit for treatment I can say without reservation, the team of medical providers, led by Dr. Somerville have been nothing short of amazing! They office is well ran and everyone seems to work together. The staff has a positive attitude toward the patient and their care. They all seems to really like what they do.Dr. Somerville is a kind person and takes the time to answer all your questions. His personality is infectious!
Glenda Eddings: I like this place! Great service!
Gail Manizak: I went thru two cataract surgeries, it took about 4 months, worst experience I have had with professionals in a long time. I was told I had a retina problem, minor, when I had my eyes axamined. I am supposed to go back for a check up for that in Dec.Going thru these two surgeries was not fun by any means but horrific, there were nurses that were short and sharp with me during both visits. Both surgeries the Anesthesiologist did not give me enough, “ I don’t care juice”. The first time the Dr told him to give me more, so I did not care. The second eye surgery, nurses put me in a chair, taped my head down, and walked away and left me there while they went to carry on some serious conversation about how things were not being run right there by management? While I am waiting, I was anxious both times, finally I said to them, “ hey, I am alive and well over here”. They said we better get the Anesthesiologist in here. He comes in and gives me something in an IV, I am still very much awake and knowing what is going on and “caring” here comes the Dr to do my surgery, I fought him a little with trying to hold my eye open, he told the Anesthesiologist to give me some more once again?I have went through many appts, bad attitudes or bedside manners and I am not a happy camper. Since my eye surgery, due a stigmatism they say they cannot adjust my glasses prescription? I am feeling off with my vision, I cannot handle the lights in a store since my surgery.I did not have that problem before surgery, and my vision was bad, I also did not have this situation with my vision that makes my head feel off or a little dizzy, and I had the stigmatism and the retina issue before my surgery. I can barely work or live life right now feeling normal. I feel like if I close my eyes I feel better. This no way to live. I am not sure what to do or who to see.My last appt. The Dr tested my vision, made a mock pair of glasses for me because I told her my glasses were not right? The glasses she made me I could not see anything out of. I went home nothing resolved, no help. Blamed on my stigmatism which I actually had before the surgery along with the retina problem. Disappointed to say the least. I left with the attitude from the Dr, “ this is as good as it’s going to get “. I do not know what to do at this point. My husband went through this with me, and he has made it clear he will never go here to get his surgery done for a cataract he has. Gail Manizak.Update ONE YEAR LATER. My eyes sight has not improved, the Dr called me after 6 mos of having these surgeries, telling me he had looked at my chart and he thought I needed more surgery. As in the beginning before my surgery he had little time, actually no time to answer my questions, nor did he on the phone that day, I tried to ask about the problems I was having with light and dizziness. He said, “you know those bumps on your right eye they talked to you about .” I said no, maybe you better tell me about them, I was never told. Bottom line he said I needed more surgery, and he was actually a cornea specialist. After going through a most traumatic 6 or 7 mos. between the staff and surgery, how can they not know what they are putting a person through. I said, no, to his offer of more surgery at the time. I was so traumatized by these people and the outcome. Why was he just now reading my chart after this REVIEW I MADE HERE..., why did he not know what I needed? I think this is a very fair question. I told him I would discuss this with my husband, and we would decide what to do. I HAVE ONE PAIR OF EYES ONLY, WHATDO YOU DO?My vision to date is light sensitive to the point I cannot stay in a store with fluorescent lighting. I want to know why,I do not have an answer yet. These are Specialists here we are talking about. I have a type of vertigo/dizzy type feelings, overwhelming at times when I move too much, as in turning, bending, simply cooking a meal for my family. I still have to close my good-eye And look through my worst eye. No answers.

mike paulsen: I had LASIK done over 20 years ago. Still working great for me today as my eyesight is stable and I do not require eyeglasses. This was money well spent and I would recommend anyone interested in LASIK to visit Ohio Valley Eye Institute in Evansville, Indiana and discuss your options with Dr. Malitz.
Larry Fox: Very prompt
Emisha Liuzzi: Experience care team from start to finish. Always warm welcomes from staff members. Always a great experience!
Susan Weber: Unsatisfactory
Brenda Parrott: Always very friendly and professional.
Mary O'Daniel: I had a great experience here. The staff is friendly and they’re very knowledgeable. If you need an eye doctor, this is the place to go!
N A: They repeatedly got my prescription wrong. The receptionist then proceeded to lie to my face and blamed me for their mistakes. I spent months without glasses because they kept having lab errors and such.
Joey Self: Great staff
Brittany Alford: I really like the doctor a lot but as far as the ladies at the desk ,they are very rude and disrespectful. They don’t even acknowledge that you’re there or even try to tell you what the next step to be done is . I stood at the desk for almost 20 minutes before someone told me what to do next .
Jack: The Dr’s and their staff have been very attentive to me and have had good results.
Phyllis Reed: Quick and efficient!!
Peggy Kohlmeyer: Dr. Malitz corrected the eye surgery that a previous individual performed when I lived in NC. I don’t have any hesitations of “seeing” him annually for all of my vision concerns.
David Bretz: Nice place
B H: I went back and forth on leaving a review but my experience was completely unexpected. This was due to the doctor coming into the room I was in, looking at my husband, then myself, and asking if I had been tested for AIDS. Quick backstory, my husband is white, I am not. I also came into the office as my shingles had flared up horribly. I have previously been diagnosed with shingles by my regular doctor. This time, my eye and area around it was the main area of my flare up. My vision had started to be affected due to the location. I was dumbfounded that before my eye was checked out, or even closely looked at, I was asked if I had been tested for AIDS. I was informed that people my age normally don’t get shingles so after AIDS, I could have some sort of immune comprised disease. I will say, I did drag my feet going to the doctor but, who likes going to the doctor? I had pictures showing my eye during the beginning of the flare up so I did show him these. Thankfully, after he was able to view the pictures he did say it did looked like shingles. I had always heard great things about Dr. Malitz but my experience was definitely not as I had expected.
K Clark: I have been a patient over 10 years. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I've trusted Dr Maltz with both cataract and Lasik surgeries. No place else I'd rather go. All concerns are answered. I have Medicare which has been billed correctly. As I am on a fixed income Dr. Maltz did one Lasik surgery at no charge to me to correct a problem. As far as their glasses. I get my written rx and am able to order online. I enjoy several pair of progressive glasses that way. Top notch crew.
Linda Watkins: There staff is nice and friendly and Dr David Malitz is a very good eye doctor I appreciate each and every one and the cleanliness of there office stay safe and blessed .
Todd LaBorwit: Great care by Dr Malitz and friendly staff. Been going to Ohio Valley for many years and glad to have such a wonderful doctor in our local town.
Karen Tpurple2: Will give them zero star. Stink attitude and not accepting things.. not go use this service ever!

Terry Talley, M.D.: what do users think?
Ben Herbener: This is the surgery center for Talley Eye Care. I had a PRK procedure done here (similar to LASIK). The building is clean and professional, and the staff helpful. Dr. Silvera was great during the short procedure - only lasts 5 or 10 minutes. It was completely painless and not very unpleasant experience, would recommend this place to anyone.
