Steve Wedll: My son and I went to Evansville in the middle of March 2023, specifically to see the ship. I am glad there are many other things to see and do around Evansville because the ship was a large disappointment. The tour guide was more interested in her coffee than the tour. We waited for 45 min for the tour. The tour only took 45 min and then disappointment set in. I felt we were very rushed with a script she was reciting. She even stated wrong information about the Bofors gun, which was hard to listen to. This could be so cool, but I could hardly take a picture we were rushed so much. Questions could not be answered at all by her. I felt there was more to the ship to see also. Many areas were not allowed to be seen. With all this being said, I would go back, but only if I was in the area for something else, and I would ask for another tour guide if she was next up. I would have liked to have time to look at the displays and read, but that was not possible. In the end, I felt like i was there to finance the crews ship (pay your money and get off so we can have our next adventure). I am very glad the ship is being memorialized, however.

K Housman: I took my son over the summer, to the LST museum and it was a really good time! They do tours, on the hour, I think. So, we didn’t have to wait much. The tour takes about an hour or so, and you should definitely wear walking shoes, no sandals. It’s probably not a good idea to take smaller children with you, since there are many things that could cause harm , so get a babysitter. The boat itself is on the water, so it adds a realistic, feel to the tour, which is a nice bonus. We had a lively guide, who gave us some great information and really made the whole experience enjoyable. We are definitely going back and taking the rest of the family.

Baron: The welcome center/souvenir store was cute and clean. Tours started at the hours sharp. Tour guide was extremely knowledgeable throughout the 75-minute tour from the deck as we climbed down into the lower compartments and then climbed back up.While LST-325 might be slow and had a wandering life, its historical significance as part of D-day+1, as well as an icon to the importance of Evansville region during WWII, allows locals to proudly brag about its history. Lots of facts were shared and you even got to touch and operate some of them!Temperature was perfect for late November, but based on the number of oscillating fans at the lower level, it must be very hot during summer months so please prepare for that accordingly.
Dave Frendreiss: What an unexpected gem. This boat is not the sexy offensive weapon that your better known military assets are but the SLTs were a key logistical weapon in WWII and our volunteer tour guide Chris told a beautiful story. My teenage son loved it and he, like most his age, isn't easily impressed. We were very happy to find this.
Justin Martin: The ship is an absolute wonder to visit. It's a step back into history. The staff is very knowledgeable about the ship's history from start to finish. The tours are in depth and interactive and the gift shop and museum are wonderful as well. If you are a military history buff, this place is a must-see.Visited on Weekend Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Yes Price for adult entry $16–20 …More
