Jim Davis: I'd rather pay my bills on the website because of the long lines. Plus you have to empty your pockets and go through a metal detector. I don't have time for all that. They now have an app but I haven't used it yet. Some of the customer service personnel are complete idiots. But some are exemplary. I will tell you a little story. I am almost 70 years old and I live entirely from social security, which is less than most people earn in a week. I live within a strict budgetBut like most older folks we sometimes miss something or forget something but mostly because it's frustrating getting old. So when I paid my water bill I thought that the payment had already cleared, but it actually took 4 days. I panicked because I didn't have enough money to cover the payment, so I called my daughter. She works a ton of hours because she only buys name brands and I'm not just talking about food. Name brand clothes for her and her kids. Handbags, shoes, boots. $5000 coats and jackets. Only buys her furniture from Wayfair and Ikea. So I knew that she would have the money and she said that she would call the water department in the morning on her way to work. So when she stopped by after work she said that she only had to pay $146I thought that was strange because my water bill was $250 because my toilet was leaking and my landlord refused to turn it in to her insurance company. When I went to turn the faucet on there was no water. I called my daughter but I couldn't get ahold of her. I started searching for an organization that might be able to help me. I went to the Pidgeon Township trustee's office and applied for a grant. They approved $250, which was a lot less than I needed to get my water turned back on. It was already too late to make it to the water company before they closed so I went the next morning. What I find mind-boggling is the level of incompetence some people have. When I spoke of exemplary people I have one in mind. In less than 5 minutes she was able to find what the problem was. I had spoken to at least 15 customer support specialists. Some fool paid my payments to my old account, at my old address. Not only did the exemplary customer support specialist find the mistakes but she also was able to successfully transfer my payments to the right account and address but she gave me the wonderful news that I had a credit. Some people are just exemplary because they are exemplary.
Frank May: It is almost impossible to get someone on the phone and all you get is voice mail hell. They have a rating below 2.0 and can careless. This happens when it aint their money and they are not accountable.

Susan Harris: My auto-pay was somehow messed up and I did not realize my bill was not paid. They turned my water off. Really??? I have not missed paying my bill in years and this is how you treat your customers! I was on the phone for an hour waiting for someone to straighten this mess out through no fault of mine! Then, I had to wait 2 hours for them to show up to turn my water back on. Horrible customer service. They also left a hole in my front yard for 2 months and in spite of numerous calls to fix the hole they still haven’t shown up to fix my yard and my neighbors yard. Maybe I should shut off your water? Do your jobs and stop being mean to people! And fix your lousy customer service lines! An hour waiting for someone to respond is way too long!
Niterider Allen: Absolute terrible customer service, if and I do mean if you are able to get a hold of them... You call the phone number and it says we're unable to answer your call due to high call volume, please call back at a later time. Meanwhile this should have never been a concern to begin with because I had autopay, but apparently some way somehow my autopay was shut off. Never had a problem beforehand... Definitely not a happy customer.
Lisa Scheller: I'm so thankful Cindy called me to say we were using excess water and might have a leak! I had been hearing a hissing sound near the kitchen for days and we did in fact have a leak! We appreciated the notification so much because it would have gone on for much longer without it. Thank you so much!!
Syroney 1121: Horrible customer service. Our account was charged $4,000 for a $40 water bill on March 29 and we still have not received a credit to our account! Cannot get a reply to emails. Someone please help!
Victor Jennings: I was on the phone waiting for someone to answer for 40 of my 45 minute lunch, had to hang up. Today I called, it said I had 3 callers ahead of me, 15 minutes later someone finally answered. She said that there was 9 people answering phones. Has got to be the worst customer service ever. After I finally talked with someone they couldn't help me. Still have to make a trip downtown.
Mark Gosse: Terrible company. Had a water main break which hit our meter, more than 3k gallons used. Had that fixed but randomly 2 weeks later according to the utility company we had a 10 day stretch that used a huge amount of water. This totalled 21k in the month. Lady of the phone seemed unconcerned and just said to check with a plumber again. Zero leaks can be found in the home... 21k gallons doesn't just leak and go unnoticed. Also magically our new supposed leak fixed itself which was nice of it after a 10 day stretch. All in all over a $500 bill. These guys are crooks.
Stephen McMillen: Billing services has consistently screwed up paying auto pay, leaving me with collective bills around $1000 and not notifying about shut offs.
mason cundiff: Limited hours on weekdays... No schedule for weekends. Faulty payments that go in late, that cause shutoff over the weekend. Couldn't get it turned on till Monday. Safe to say Evansvilles infrastructure services are always lackluster and better to invest into moving cities that have 24/7 service

Therefor, I pay with a world elite MasterCard every time which charges them higher fees than my amex would lolNot to mention, trash and recycling pickup is almost always late. Also, the water constantly smells like chlorine and tastes like a ton of chemicals. Yum
PATSY HILL: The bill keeps rising along with the runoff in the streets every spring.Unconscionably high bills for such poor service.
christian mazikoske: Wakes up to water shut off. Checks mail and they just so happened to JUST send a shut off notice in a blank envelope not saying anything about urgency or important notice. Open it up and it says I'll be shut off next month. Here I am paying reinstatement fees. Not to mention how our bill will always spike and raise anywhere from 100-300 no matter how much we'd use.
Wilson Gaslin: This service is a complete failure of local government. There is no redeeming factor here. They will shut your water off before your due date, their automated systems will be out of order when you call them, and they just might be cold and unapologetic when you finally speak to them after untold minutes on hold. The mismanagement of this department is an embarrassment to the city of Evansville, and it takes quite a lot to stand out like that in this town. All this said, the guys out in the field are fast and friendly. It’s the administrative side that should be dismantled from the top and rebuilt.
