Changing the birthing experience for all communities and cultures in northeast Indiana
Journey Birth and Wellness exists to train and equip birth professionals from diverse backgrounds to come alongside women from their own culture to offer education, support, and community so that they can be empowered during their pregnancy, labor, and into motherhood. We seek to fulfill this vision in the following ways:
Training classes for birth professionals so they can best support women from their own community
Offer Doula services to women highest at risk for maternal and infant mortality in our local neighborhoods
Build relationships with hospitals and local resources so that we can best serve each woman and their specific needs
Offer community birth, breastfeeding, and newborn classes to empower expecting parents
We offer evidence-based childbirth education classes in-person and online. We offer this on a regular basis throughout the year. We believe that education is what empowers growing families!
We offer doula services on a sliding scale to families in our community. We offer free services to teen moms, immigrants, and refugees as well.

Magee Page-Stokes: Shanna flew around the world to be my doula at my first international birth, talk about going ABOVE & BEYOND!! She is so experienced and an expert in her trade, knowing just when to take my mind off things with light humor or storytelling, and when to "get down to business" and dig deep with my breathing and other birthing techniques to alleviate pain and progress efficiently. I love her so much, wish she could be present for all my births, and would recommend her to anyone considering. She has a beautiful family of her own, EMT experience, started her own doula team and ministry--so you know you're in good hands!
Jay & Patti Mashburn: Shanna was incredibly helpful before, during, and after the birth of our daughter. She taught us techniques, provided support to my husband and myself, and helped us think through decisions. She was also very considerate of the loss of our first child and how that would impact the pregnancy, delivery, and 4th trimester with our second child. I highly recommend Journey Birth and Wellness!

Angelika Burwell: Bri made my entire pregnancy and postpartum experience a complete breeze. Between answering all of my questions, giving endless education and information, she took all of my worries away. She made me feel extremely comfortable, her sincerity is very much so appreciated. Around the Moon Doula Services come highly recommended!
Esh W: Due to me not being able to leave an official review because I wasn’t given the information, I’ll leave it here. Bri was very helpful to me during my pregnancy in terms of being someone I could text with when I had questions or concerns. During my labor I thought she would be more hands on, more vocal, and more of a presence. Looking back on my child’s birth day it is now filled with a bit of disappointment because I feel like I allowed someone to see something so personal and intimate but I don’t feel like I had a friend/family member helping me through my process like most people feel after their birth with a doula which was something I was looking forward to feeling. After the birth of my child things got a bit apparent to me that I made the wrong choice because all of the things that I paid for weren’t accomplished so I feel like I didn’t get the experience I was hoping for and looking forward too.
