CPDefense: what do users think?
Amanda Hann: I would highly recommend taking a course from CPDefense! Chris Pongratz was my instructor and he was fantastic! The quality of the information was how it was presented was perfect. I was really nervous to go by myself but was really wanting to take a course as a new mom. Chris let me ask a ton of questions and never once made me feel stupid for asking. He encouraged the questions and really helped me grasp a better understanding. The virtual range was impressive! It helped me practice what we learned and put it to use right away with different real life situations. I even got emotional after one situation and Chris was able to help talk me through some of those fears that it had stirred up in me. I would highly recommend this to anyone! I’ll be returning for more classes in the future!
diedra sims: Very thorough and, likely, information you thought you knew. Worth it!
Jada Gordon: Chris did such a good job at presenting the material! He was very knowledgeable and helpful with answering questions! His eagerness of teaching the course made the class very interesting! His enthusiasm made me alert the entire 3 hours! I am definitely looking forward to the next class and I would highly recommend this class and instructor!
Christina: Great foundational information. Instructor has expert knowledge. Money well spent on this class!!
Steve Vevia: Very informative and well taught. Small class size and plenty of time to answer all questions. We will be taking more classes.
Sheila S: This was our first firearms class. We learned about the important rules regarding gun safety, how to handle guns, how to select the right gun, different types of ammunition, how to disassemble and clean, and very important rules. Chris has extensive experience and takes time to ensure all questions are answered. We learned a lot and feel more knowledgeable about guns. We have signed up for the next class and look forward to training on how to responsibly fire a gun. Chris is an excellent teacher and very enthusiastic about teaching people responsible and safe use of a firearms.
Jennie Boller: The Certified Basic Handgun class was very informative-everything from universal safety rules to gun/ammo type to proper handling. Chris is a very knowledgeable instructor with many years of experience.
Rhonda Mitchell: This was a highly informative class with the instructor being very knowledgeable in this field. Information was relative and pertinent to today’s social environment, as well as information that other instructors may not think to give you. Definitely looking forward to taking other classes being offered.
Bill Borgmann: Very knowledgeable instructor. Class exceeded my expectations.
Brandon Wylie: Took Intro to Firearms class in July. Small class size allows for one-on-one questions and instruction, helpful for new gun owner. Already signed up for additional training.
Denny Mast: This course was very informative, a must course to take for a beginner and just a refresher. I will definitely sign up for the next class.Thank you
Josh Kearby: Intro to firearms was a great class. I learned quite a bit about the different types of firearms and ammo.
Jennifer Messer: Very detailed Intro to Firearms class by Chris Pongratz. I learned the basics of types of guns and ammunition as well as how to disassemble and clean my handgun. I am looking forward to the next classes on sighting and stance then self defense and home defense.
Edward Messer: I was impressed with the Intro To Firearms course at CPDefense. It was a thorough and interesting class and covered everything I hoped for. We covered everything from handgun basics to ammunition to care and cleaning. We even broke down the pistols that class members brought.
Ruth Borgmann: Great intro class for gun safety!

Indiana Firearms Training, LLC: what do users think?
David Richards: I highly recommend Indiana Firearms Training to new and advanced shooters. The constant focus on safety can be appreciated by anyone. I took Handgun I last week and have already signed up for Handgun II! Great company with great instruction.
Tyler: John and Laura provided expert handgun instruction with the utmost attention to safety. I took their most basic handgun course, and it was appropriate for all skill and experience levels. They were knowledgeable in the classroom and detail oriented. They are also very respectable people and made the class fun and informative. I will be back for a more advanced class in the future. Thank you
Larry Kissinger: I have years of experience with guns, but I must say John did an excellent job and I learned several new techniques and general information. I would highly recommend his classes !
Christian Smith: Took the handgun 1 training class and I was very happy with the course! John and Laura are great instructors and I look forward to taking the second handgun class. Well worth the money and it was a great time!
Jonathan Robert: Took Handgun Level 1 and I am extremely satisfied. Classwork was engaging. Plenty of range time and practice. Safety culture runs deep within John and Laura. I will 100% be taking another class with Indiana Firearms Training. If you have never taken a firearms training, your first one NEEDS to be with this company.
Steven Betz: A day well spent!! I took two pages of notes on new things that I didn't already know. We didn't just learn facts about guns and shooting but also tips on techniques and safety that would have never crossed my mind. The instructors were great and at no time did I feel any pressure or shame about what I didn't know. I certainly recommend this course for not only new shooters but equally for old salts that are a bit rusty about guns and shooting.
Donald Scaife Sr: The firearms training was awesome! John is the knowledgeable firearms instructor I've ever met. He truly knows his stuff!!! 👍👍👍
Shannon Griffith: John and Laura do a great job instructing, their passion for training and educating showed by how prepared they where and attention to detail. It’s a long day, but we’ll organized. I look forward to Hand Gun 2 and continue learning from John. I will probably call to shoot at the range with his expertise. Thanks again John and Laura for a wonderful and educating day!Shannon Griffith
nick yergens: IFT is led by skilled professionals who put full effort into every class, especially around creating and safe and collaborative environment. The classes, skills, and knowledge learned creates students of a much higher caliber (pun intended) than every other agency in the area.
bwitzenman: John Michaels of Indiana Firearms Training has been a great instructor. I have attended several of his courses and have left every time feeling well instructed.
Dennis Loxton: they were patient with a relatively new gun owner at the time and incredibly detail-oriented. Would definitely encourage you to check them out!
Jacknife 765: The instructors are very nice and professional and make the environment feel very safe. What I learned in the class definitely advanced my gun safety and my skill level with my firearm. 10/10 would recommend.
Philip Davich: This is a professionally run introductory course on handgun safety and usage. I highly recommend it to anyone considering buying their first handgun and those who have firearms but have never had professional training. Being one of those “good guys with a gun” begins with proper training.
Annakarina Freeman: We recommend Indiana Firearms Training to everyone who is interested in becoming comfortable and proficient with firearms and general self protection. They are extremely safety conscious and do a terrific job of instructing folks of all skill levels. If you are serious about being a responsible gun owner, attend their classes! Repeating classes for FREE is just amazing customer service. I can't recommend John and Laura enough!
d eckert: The courses here are a definite must have. No matter how proficient you think you are you'll learn more. I learned more in the one day AR15 class than I did during 6 years as a reserve deputy. Looking forward to taking more classes as time allows. John, Laura and John are not only extremely knowledgeable but also extremely patient.
Stephanie Amspaugh: Great instruction at an affordable price. The women’s handgun class was the perfect introduction to basic self defense that included plenty of range time. I’m looking forward to the advanced class
Dan Cole: Indiana Firearms was a great experience as well as a lot of fun. Our instructors (John & Laura ) were very knowable. It is a good class for the novice and for those more experienced gun owners. I definally recommend the handgun level 1class to all. I learned a lot and plan on taking more classes when they are offered.
Chris Smith: Great course! Well worth the money! Safe and effective learning environment. I'm looking forward to the rifle courses next.
Lisa Gage: Attending the Level 1 class hosted by Indiana Firearms Training, LLC was the best decision that I have made in 2022. John Michaels provided classroom-style education along with technical hands-on training. Along with the expected informative slides, he demonstrated each skill and provided one-on-one instruction with blue weapons, dummy rounds, and MantisX Laser Training in the classroom. Laura Michaels assisted with demonstrations and gave the psychological perspective to the real-world incidents discussed in class. We got to the range and everyone had the opportunity to use the skills that were part of the classroom session with all of the tools provided by Indian Firearms Training. Then, John allowed us to get additional range time with our own CCW after class had concluded for the day. Almost 10 hours of training for an extremely affordable price! I will definitely recommend Indiana Firearms Training, LLC to all of my friends and family. And, I expect to take more classes from John in the future. Great information, great instruction, and great training!
John Stanley: I had an opportunity to take the Handgun 2 course on 4/3/22. I thought I was fairly proficient at mag changes with a handgun, but I was wrong. After taking this course with John and Laura I realized i had barely scratched the surface before. The techniques they show have made me not only more proficient but also quicker. There is a ton of things they show that can be done while sitting and just watching TV while remaining safe and using no ammo. I highly recommend any class with them. Their main task of any class is SAFETY, SAFETY, SAFETY. I learned more on mag changes for a Handgun in 9 hours yesterday than I did in 9 years in the military.
Lages Keith: John’s dedication to instruction and training are top notch. I’ve been looking for local training for a while and since my first instruction with John I was blown away by his sincere desire to help me improve.I won’t go into a lot of detail but I’ll just say that before I even spent one single dime to take a class, John spent almost an entire evening working with me to make small but effective improvements in my proficiencies. I was so impressed with his knowledge, teaching technique and attitude that I immediately signed up for a class and then another and I’m going to keep taking classes with these guys.John’s attention and zeal for safety are evident. Consistency in safety checks are paramount in this field and John is on point with making the classes safe above all other facets of training. Both pistol and carbine classes are thorough, well-planned and engaging. John has structured his classes for new and experienced shooters. The instruction is thorough and modern. This is not a firearms class from 20 years ago. Range instruction is safe, dynamic and immersive as well.I highly recommended Indiana Firearms Training.

Freedom Firearms: what do users think?
Denver Smith: Had an auction bought gun shipped here because multiple people told me this is the place to go.Planned on getting a custom holster, ammo boxes and everything else when I arrived to help with the inconvenience since they probably aren’t making much on my transfer.I waited the recommended 24 hours on their site before I called to check. Turns out the owner won’t be back for a week and a half and they can’t process it until then. I called and emailed before shipping the item. I’m more upset than anything that I could’ve sent it anywhere else and not had to wait a long amount of time.
Martin Haft: I have only experienced friendly, knowledgeable staff who are willing to assist no matter who is working. They have reasonable prices and offer training classes to ensure that you are able to safely operate your weapon. My favorite/only shop and range in Fort Wayne. If you are reasonable and responsible and looking to purchase a new weapon stop here first.
Joshua Poling: Always a great place to be I did a self defense class with the USCCA
Charles Neal: Great helpfull service. Fair prices. Will shop again.
Jake Coates: The people at Freedom are always awesome to work with! They are always kind and willing to help where help may be needed. Every time I have been in their store, I have witnessed an inexperienced person come in for classes or questions. Every time they are willing to help and work with that individual while making them feel welcomed. Regardless, if you are inexperienced or an advanced shooter, the people here at Freedom will make you feel at home.
John Smith: I will say personally the few times I have been in here I felt rushed, or like I wasn’t necessarily wanted there. The last time I stopped in, I wanted to sell a used Gen 3 Glock 19, I was looking for $300 and the guy who was working with me laughed and said the most he would give me was $150 because it was 3rd gen and that’s all I’d get anywhere. What’s even funnier is I called Bass and Bucks in Wabash who told me over the phone they would pay $350 for it without even looking at it. So I drive the hour to Wabash and made more than I asked for. The only thing I wish I would have done differently was put the phone on speaker and let him hear the offer that was way higher and know he was losing my business. I would drive the extra hour to go to Wabash any day, they have bow range, and anything from 15yd to 1000yd ranges that are covered and it’s only $20 for the whole day with extremely cheap prices for guns and ammo. Make the drive, you’ll be glad you did.
jake roach: I’ve been a member at freedoms now going on two years. The staff is always friendly and will take the time to work with anyone who needs help. I think it’s great that they also offer first time classes on new gun ownership as well.
Joe Kocks: Very helpful on the counter
Thomas Etue: Great Handgun Orientation class! Efficient, practical, and very helpful for a new gun owner. Thank you Freedom Firearms!
Keepin'ItReal: VERY helpful staff! Recently, I needed a holster for a gun with a light, and was able to have one CUSTOM MADE, in about 10 min., for around $50.I also took advantage of the FREE class I got for purchasing my gun from them. Not gonna lie, I was pleasantly surprised that it was a complete class: gun safety, basics, how it operates, and included range time even, FOR FREE!Have since taken several individual classes and have improved my proficiency, competency, accuracy...Again, could not be happier!!
brad mishler: Very knowledgeable and friendly people. Decent amount of firearms to choose from. Even offer free classes to help you to get to know your new gun better, if needed.
Tom Keith: Attended the AR-15 fundamentals class. Good blend of classroom and range time. The instructor Marc, is safety conscious and very knowledgeable about this weapon system. He keeps things moving and interesting. Highly recommend this session and instructor.
Mark Cobb: Went with a friend, he was looking for a special item They had it and a good price
Winter king: Good people here. Know what they are doing. More than helpful. My friends only come here for help or a new gun.
Randy Morris: Manager was incredibly rude and snarky, and not even a little bit. One of the most unprofessional experiences I've had in at least 5 years. Absolutely inexcusable. The range is incredibly outdated and expensive for what it is. Their competitor a mile away as a new state of the art center that is less expensive. Their prices are at least 15% higher than their competition, which I could only justify if there was outstanding customer service, which obviously there is not. I wouldn't even make this location last on my list of options even if my life depended on it.
Jared Gordon: They had a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Most gunstores don't have that.
Bryan Stroth: I have purchased many firearms from Freedom Firearms and used their Target Master's range. These folks are top notch and super friendly! My son and I also took a couple of classes with them, and the instructor was helpful, knowledgeable and respectful at any level. Highly recommend these folks!!!
Ron Roberts: Very helpful and friendly staff
Deb Carpenter: We halfway knew what we wanted, and Tiffany listened, recommended and helped us find my weapon. Very easy no pushing.
Rick Campodonico: Marc took his time helping me look through the options.
Jon Harkrider: I had a great experience at your shop. A great selection and staff that knows about your products. I got just what I was looking for. I will be back.

Midwest Shooting Center: what do users think?
Ema Hamidovic: My cousins from Germany were really excited to go shooting for the first time while visiting America. The staff informed them that they could only go shooting in pairs and since one of them was only 17 a legal guardian would need to be present. The older cousin was 20 years old and had documentation from their parents that while they were traveling he was the legal guardian of the 17 year old. The staff initially told them this document would be sufficient and they would be allowed to go shooting if they brought it back. When they did they were denied again with no real explanation. Extremely poor customer service! Was hoping to get into practice shooting more myself but will definitely not be doing it here nor do I recommend this facility to anyone looking to go shooting in Fort Wayne. Very disappointing!
Jeremy Denton: This place has it all. You can buy, rent, and even order guns through here. Its a new place so everything is up to date and clean. I brought a few guns and rented a few. Would definitely recommend this place.
Josh Accardo: Very large/spacious and comfortable.Great customer service.Awesome staff and clean range
Chad Stewart: I can’t wait to go back and burn through some ammunition!!!
Adam Rhein: I wish there was a negative rating. This is the WORST store out of the dozens of gun shops I've ever been to. They must have a weekly contest to see who can give the most awful service. It starts with the"not my job" while you're left standing, then it turns to "I don't know". There's better service from the VA. Do not waste your time or money. The fact that negative reviews aren't addressed should show you how the value customers. This is response to initial their response;I tried calling to speak to someone and was sent to voicemail........3 times. Case in point.
Ricky: Great to go shooting and to buy firearms I highly recommend going. Membership comes with free transfers and early access to ammunition.
Michael Files: Love this place
Christopher Gates: I only been to pick up a gun I got from a different online store but would like to go to the range this weekend and check it out but the way the reviews looking about the membership I may have to go a few times before I think about getting one
Andrew Norris: I had an issue which led to me being bit of an annoying customer. John took ownership of my problem and quickly got it resolved, and Cole was patient with me during the several phone calls I made to the store.
Kase James: FWIW I delayed the pickup 3 days due to an error on my ID. So I only waited ~50 days longer than expected. So two stars seems appropriate.Update 2/14/23: On the two month anniversary of ordering, I have now been able to come in store and pick up my firearm. Waited in store while getting background check - note even said call Jon or Nate on the case of my gun. I was there maybe an hour, however they seemed to be busy with a meeting. I did receive a call wanting to make things right, which I appreciate. Just haven't been able to get in touch to follow up on that.Went in store on 02/07 - same day I received a call that it was in stock. Called back to speak with Jon and didn't get an answer. Next day the comment on my review was made by Midwest. When calling, you may consider leaving an extension to reach you at since the main line seems to be unavailable fairly frequently.Update: Still absolutely nothing back from MidwestHave enjoyed the store itself, the range is great and the staff seem friendly. However if you are looking to buy a gun that isn't currently sitting in a display case just steer clear. Ordered my gun on Dec. 14th and haven't seen or heard anything yet though site says 7-10 days. When I've called I have got the same exact answer every time of "Oh there's a lot of boxes here I don't see it, we'll call you when it's here" I understand holiday rushes happen but when you can't get the job done you probably shouldn't be the one doing it.
Margaret Swift: Love this place! Fiance and I go just about every sunday and it is always clean and staff are awesome. I love being a member here! Just did their Romance on the range date night and it was so much fun!Highly recommend!
Cayli Hart: They make it impossible to cancel your membership without paying hundreds of dollars to get out of it. It's a 2-year contract that they don't explain when you sign up. They are not transparent and scam you. This is an edit to the reply below. My husband is a member. He has called several times and no one seems to be in the office and if they are we just get told to talk to their out side service which just tells us either you keep the monthly payment of pay over $400 to cancel it. We were then told this is an automatic renewal contract so it would be renewed after the 2 years without a notice. Which is what keeps you trapped. It’s shady ancient business tactic. You can reach out to my husband Tanner Hart and rectify the situation. Until then my review will stay.
Anna Ruiz: I wish I could give 0 stars. The staff themselves and the shooting center itself is okay. However, it has almost been an ENTIRE year since I cancelled my membership and I am still receiving charges. DON'T SIGN UP unless you want to be charged every month after you cancel your subscription.
Dan Wagers: Haven’t used the range yet, but the store is top notch! They have everything and it is priced right.
Mark Cobb: Nice place to look at a big variety and price is reasonable
Margaret Gillespie: I just finished my 6 month gun training at Midwest Shooting range. There were many choices of times to be trained so it was very convenient to find a time that worked for me.My trainer James was very knowledgeable on all varieties of guns and equipment and when asked he help me pick the right equipment for my gun. He was very calm and patient teaching me even with my lack of experience. I walked away from training with confidence in handing and shooting my gun which was my goal taking these classes. I would highly recommend James and what I saw first hand you couldn't go wrong with any of Midwest trainers. Thank you James your the best!
Zayden Kai: A++ service, professional staffs
Backwoods1010 Backwoods1010: Amazing and knowledgeable staff. They answered all my questions and gave me lots of advice!
DjUnLtDeSt1977: Best place in town to go practicing your stance, grip, focus, speed and aim.
Kelly Hendricks: The training team here is wonderful. Jason is very knowledgeable and helped us all the way. Everyone is very nice and friendly that works there. We enjoy ourselves every time we go in.
James Bergdoll: I love this place, I usually don't have to wait very long and membership is very reasonably priced.

James w: Went in to get my barrel torqued to my upper and to my surprise he said he could do it right then (no waiting for weeks like everyone else around Fort Wayne)! Went to go get cash and when I came back was told that there would be no charge due to small scratch that his barrel wrench left on my barrel nut (I don't care about scratches, its a firearm, they're supposed to get beat up and get character haha). I still offered to pay but he refused over and over. Prices were reasonable and I have found my new goto place for parts and service in the area. Thanks again!
