Poplar Ridge Apartments: what do users think?
Tara Munk: I lived here for 8 years and it was great until C.I.M. Living bought the property. Their priority is the company and they could care less about the residents. They increased the rent so high that all of the long term tenants ended up leaving, then they started negotiating rent prices because no one was moving in. Property is very old with poor insulation and mold/mildew issues. They entered my apartment without permission during the vacating process. When I inquired about it they threatened to contact their attorney and hung up the phone on me. My account was charged over $200 when I left. AVOID ALL C.I .M. LIVING PROPERTIES AT ALL COSTS! Find somewhere where they care about the residents.
Liz Watson Store #218: They don't remove snow. Also please note that the property is very dark at night and they don't seem to be interested in replacing the property lights.
Charlene Kaufman: Currently live here and yes they have raised the rent but if you do your homework and research the rent prices are very comparable to what everyone else in Fort Wayne is charging. However I do agree the rent increase was a large amount all at once but people need to realize these apartments were under market for a very long time. It is true there haven't been a lot of upgrades or improvements of recent but you have to have patience and give them time. It is all electric so in the winter the heat is expensive but it is anywhere that is electric. I like living here because of being on the ground floor and the convenience and the location. I will be staying and I just say to everybody else give it a chance.I have done my homework and there is nowhere else I can get a one bedroom like I have right now for the same price.
John Mcpartland: Both worth the money. Signed a 6 month lease under old management Nov. 21 due to transferring for work. New management took over December 21. Place is poorly insulated. One month electric bill was 200 dollars bc the heater was constantly running. Started sleeping in hoodies and 2 blanket to avoid freezing or another high bill. Went to sign another 6 month lease and was told under new management no more 6 month lease and rent was going up to 800 dollars a month for a 12 month or 950 month to month and my apartment wouldn’t be getting and upgraded until I moved out.
Adam Lill: New ownership jacked rent prices by 50%, added water and trash utilities, and are now requiring all residents have renter's insurance. I lived there for 4 years. The low quality and minimal units were worth it when they cost less than $600/month, but new rates combined with utilities easily put a 1 bedroom over $900/month. Zero improvements have been made since the property changed hands. Electric costs are through the roof due to terrible insulation and cheap windows. I literally received a bill for $1 after moving out. After calling the office to ask if they would waive the charge they told me, "No, we can't do that. I would just pay it. It's only a dollar." Talk about greedy. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!
Tamara “Sunshine” Hopkins: Don't waste your time. Smh 😠
Don’t Worry: They have recently raised their prices by over 40% and have done no upgrades to the people that live there. All they do for the new apartments is spray paint everything white and patch the carpets. Windows aren’t sealed properly and constantly allow air out, making my a/c run constantly creating a 250 dollar electric bill for a 1 bed 1 bath. Use to pay 540 and now they upped it to 800 a month for a non updated apartment that has mold problems, bug problems (due to living next to woods). They also tacked on a water bill and making everyone get renters insurance. This place is absolutely not worth 800 a month. Have lived there for 3 years and definitely will be leaving ASAP. Also it’s not me just having these problems I’ve talked to a bunch of other residents that I know and they all say pretty much the same thing. This place is straight ghetto and trying to con people.
Deez Nutts: $885 is the new rent this year for a 1 bedroom apartment. It includes the following: stink bugs and mold in vents due to living next to a forest and they also have outdated heating utility in which spikes up your AEP bill three times the average resident would pay. Between $150-200+ for just electricity. Ask any resident who lives here, they will agree with you whole heartedly on that.
Sidney Berkey: Decent neighbors and decent rent prices.
Scooter Giddy: Over-all not a bad place. Staff was friendly, and maintenance was decent. It's a great location. However...I was disappointed when I moved out. When I moved in, they had put brand new carpet in...so nice. I only lived there 2 years, but the carpet became quickly worn just by me walking on it. Keep in mind it was just me living there, so clearly sub-standard carpet. There were a couple of stains on the carpet, which I tried everything to get out, but to no avail. Clearly, this carpet is so cheap, that it was destined to fail. So, they charged me for the carpet when I moved out, which was garbage, since I took very good care of that apartment. Maintenance had even left me a note one time complimenting on the cleanliness of my place. There are other apartments in the area to choose from that are probably a better choice.
quiet dance: The electric bill is very high in the winter due to poor installation. The vent is inconveniently right infront of the window and makes the heat seep out. I had a one bedroom which is very small for two people, but the rent is cheap. You get what you pay for here. The one plus is that I had quiet neighbors and never had to deal with anyone being noisy and the maintenance guys are very nice and quick to fix things.
J B: My only complaint is in the winter your electric bill is going to be very high. I don't know of its because of bad insulation of what, but last month my electric bill was $269 for 1 month and I'm in a 1 bedroom apartment, and I never had it more than just barely warm. The heat will run non-stop just to keep it barely tolerable, and it's awful on your bill.
Renee Parmley: Great apartments! Maitnance is very on top of things and will drop on by when you need something. Office has fantastic people. Very quiet (besides the firetrucks going off). And for the square footage it is well designed to make you feel as if you had more space. Lots of storage including an attic and hallway closet. The appliances all worked well, the washer and dryer we're basically new and worked wonderfully. Lived here for 3 years and I'd have to say they're the best in Fort Wayne, for price, style (recently remodled), and comfort. Never had a problem. Glad to have lived in such a great community and that my first move out space turned out to be a great choice. I only have 2 complaints, it's not well insulated so you'll be spending an arm and leg to heat and air out the apartment. Also there isnt any extra ammenaties such as a pool etc. But to me that was never a big deal because they make up for it by hosting parties/get together amongst the residents. Great place, would absolutely recommend. 👍
Eric Kehlenbrink: Been a little while since I have lived here but wanted to come back and leave a positive review. Staff is very nice and friendly. I didn't live there long so I didn't have any maintenance issues to report.Biggest thing is that these apartments are a tremendous value. Especially the washer dryer. I have never had a better washer and dryer in a house than the GE appliances they provided here. You don't have a lot of space but the great rate in a city like Fort Wayne this is a great value.
Stephanie Simpson: I lived here for about 18 months and this was my best apartment rental experience ever! The ladies in the office always helped it feel more like home and the maintenance staff was top notch. Thank you!
Laura Hays: I've been living at Poplar Ridge Apartments since the end of June 2010. I moved from a one bedroom apartment to a two bedroom apartment in March 2011. The complex was purchased by new management end of last summer and watching it be transformed has been amazing. All maintenance work was caught up, roofs fixed, siding redone, everything painted to match, landscaping redone, and the whole complex was repaved. The staff is friendly and helpful. Maintenance is prompt and does a wonderful job. The new management has truly made the complex feel like an inclusive community, someplace I enjoy living and plan to stay for as long as I reside in Fort Wayne.
