Josh Reno: I had never been to an art museum before so I'm hardly an expert but going here is very enjoyable and calming. It's quite, and chill and it's very interesting to read about all the pieces they have inside. Their selection is always changing as well with new artists and collaborations so it's always worth a revisit.Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No …More
Travis Snyder: While small, the galleries are beautiful and showcase an interesting collection, the glass art is particularly strong. The gift shop is really great and offers a wide variety of locally and regionally made artwork and crafts. Amanda Kochel: It's really cool! Admission is free every Thursday! They have a Learning Center for little ones where they can go in and touch things, color, build, use magnets etc. They have art that's on permanent display as well as art that travels in and out. Once a month they have an event on Thursdays. This month was celebrating 100 years of Scholastics, so their main exhibit was from Highschool students. Me, my husband, and our son look forward to going back soon! We highly recommend it; especially if you're a family who is looking for fun and budget-friendly activities :)
stephanie rhodes: Knowledge & cordial employees! Although aesthetically pleasing, not all of the art is child-friendly. If you have children, the children 's area is ideal for families!Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No Price for adult entry $6–10 …More

Anne Wolfe: Such a fun idea for a night out on the town or a date night! I enjoy looking at art and the specific exhibit that I was able to see was art made my local high school students. I enjoy how they change their exhibits frequently. My only wish was that there be more classical, primitive pieces as well.

Andrew Gasaway: The biggest reason to visit is their art glass. They have an exceptional collection of glass with artists like Chihuly and Ladino. It also has a nice youth room and a great venue with a piano for events. The only short coming it really has, would be that it doesn't have older European fine art.Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No Price for adult entry $6–10 …More

Kendra: Tldr: Woof does this place whitewash history like no tomorrow.Recently a friend and I were downtown and, intrigued by the History Center signs, we decided to check out the museum. Half of the building was undergoing major physical renovations, but in our eyes the real overhaul needed to happen to outdated plaques and phrasings. Such as a plaque in the ~1800s section that said “People were conquered. Geology was conquered” in that casual way, as if genoc*de is a very normal and everyday thing that isn’t in the least concerning or something to discuss and wrestle with beyond the barest of acknowledgements. “Mad” Anthony Wayne, after whom the city was named, was venerated instead of approached with a critical or even neutral lens. We also wondered whether the indigenous artifacts belonged there or had ever been offered back to the tribes they came from. There was also, in a more modern history section about innovations over the last century or so, a few interactive stations that felt like advertisements for local businesses (Sweetwater, Vera Bradley) rather than relevant historical pieces. We did not choose to visit the jail in the basement. Instead, we accidentally walked into a half-constructed exhibit room that had no signs or warnings on the outside of the room alerting visitors to its incomplete state. If you’re going to keep a museum open during renovations, there should be clear signage to direct traffic and ensure visitors stay safe and don’t unintentionally wander into active construction zones. All of that to say: This museum is highly unprofessional and problematic. History museums should no longer be shying away from confronting the ugliness of the US’s past. It’s embarrassing and, frankly, disgusting to see an institution dedicated to sharing history so committed to propping up colonialism and a consumerist culture.

Amanda Otis: I visited the History Center with my son's preschool class. We attended the annual Festival of Gingerbread there last month.Parking was a bit of a nightmare here considering more than half of the parking spaces are for city vehicles and the lot is quite small. Parking is not super convenient when walking with small children in the cold. The building, exhibits, and displays are fun to look at and learn about the history of Fort Wayne and the surrounding area. The old jail is in the basement here, too. I am a native of Fort Wayne but had never been to the former jail area downstairs, so I thought that was cool. Overall, it was a good experience here.

Cannonball Parker Brooke: This place is so cool. I love it.
Joe Andrews: A wonderful experience for a local historical museum with preserved articles/items of local values! Curators share knowledge and experiences for the collected treasures. Many varied items from furniture to newspaper articles. A rich historical treasure-trove of local gifts and prominent personalities from the past. Do visit this rich, well organized collection of local historical memorabilia!!! Keep up the great work for Fort Wayne and the tri-state area!
Vickie Rutley: Hard to find not a museum but a house. Was closed only have tours by reservation during off season.
Tasha L.: I didn't even know we had this museum. Educational!
Kara Kensinger: Great information, glad we went and we will be going back.
L W Durril: Detailed and insightful tour!
Violet Begets: Really educational and interesting. Tours are appointment only so cal ahead. Highly recommend.
Aly Mous: Amazing! This museum is so rich in culture and history. I absolutely recommend for students and adults.
Demece Harvey: Great experience. You really need a two day pass. One pass to see the bottom 3 floors and the other for the upper floors. Great experience. Look forward to going back to Washington, DC again and again.
Carmen Doyle: Wow. So much info! Fascinating, Cowie shells first currency
Patastic: Worth the visit, so much potential, a very important part of the history of Fort Wayne, but you have to keep an open mind. I wanted this to be a great experience, but unfortunately it was a disappointment. I was there on "Be a Tourist in Your Own Hometown" day, so maybe that was the problem, but it just was not a good museum experience. There was a person at the reception but they offered no explanation about how to best experience the museum so I asked if it was a self guided tour and she said yes, but then we ran in to two separate guided tour groups while there. The museum is full of great information, but it is not well organized nor well displayed and is in bad need of modernization. Seems like a great project for one of the several local colleges or universities to take on.

Karin Ladd: It was so disappointing...the majority of the exhibits don't work or were closed. It was warm and uncomfortable. The kids enjoyed what they could. Jessica Hammons: I remember going to Science Central when I was a kid and I wanted to take my 6 year old and 10 year old during spring break. Two an a half hours in the car and when we arrived there were no where to park. The parking lot is small. Alot of the things were out dated and broken. My 6 year old played for a total of 10 mins in the kids central area and got soaked bc the parents werent watching their kids. We stayed a total of 45 minutes and left. My kids were not interested at all.
Carli Syndram: It was dirty, half the experiments were broken. Kids were running around running into everyone. It looks nice and inviting when you walk in but once you're into the building a little farther it becomes much less inviting, more chaotic and just dirty. We won't be going back unless it's specifically for the planetary experience.Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No Price for adult entry $11–15 …More

Meghan Bowers: I took my niece and nephew here about 7 years ago and wasn’t impressed with it. Because of that I’ve not been inclined to come back. I decided since it’s been a while to give it another chance and see if they’ve made any improvements, so I took my 4 year old and was still not impressed. Nothing seemed to have been improved or have been updated in a very long time, which was disappointing. For the price it was okay but we were out less than an hour. I don’t think I would come back.

Loni Flowers: This place was so disappointing. It was dirty and half the exhibits were broken and in need of repair! The play ground was closed as well! What happened to this place? When it first opened it was such a cool place!! Exciting and entertaining! The kids loved it and so did us adults. We ended up leaving not even half way through. The kids were so disappointed. Alot of people were complaining the entire time of what a dump this turned out to be. What happened here? And please don't say not enough help! I'm really sick of hearing that excuse!! This was such a cool place for Ft. Wayne to have and now it's just embarrassing. DO BETTER!

Veronica Taylor: We came here for our daughters birthday. Not worth the $$. This place isn't what I remembered as a child. It was filthy for one. Older kids were in the younger kids play area. My daughter was kicked in the head by a child that had no supervision. Seemed parents were dumping their kids and not paying attention. There was a lot of ware and tear on the exhibits. The car building table was destroyed.. no pieces to build a car. The slide was closed. The bike was closed. Very disappointing. Would have much rather spent the money at Chuck e Cheese. Because then at least they would have enjoyed themselves.
Kitty Richards: Science Central is a wonderful place to take kids that like hands on learning. It was quite busy when we were there and a bit chaotic. My 7 year old granddaughter loved it. Some of the centers needed more supplies and organization. A couple didn't seem to work (heart rate/oxygen monitor is one example). Check out with our gift shop item took a very long time. It was a fun afternoon.

Gary Keisling: A must see and visit treasure in the midst of downtown Fort Wayne. Step through the doors of time to experience the rich heritage of the courageous firefighters who have served the city through the decades. The fire engines on display range from horse drawn hand pumpers through the past century.Parking is available in adjacent library parking lot for a nominal fee, but free for Allen County library patrons. Pickup a commemorative fire fighters T shirt at the front desk.
Peyton and Layne Homestead: We had a few hours to spare on a trip to town and this came up as a place we thought our children might enjoy and were we right! We spent almost 2 hours here and could have spent more time but it was lunch time and our littlest was hungry! The worker was very attentive to us and gave us some extra information since we were the only ones in there at the time. I just can’t rave enough about how friendly and informative he was. My younger child as well as my older children liked all of it. Would highly recommend. We will be back for sure!

The exhibits were interesting and historical, providing a true window into the past. While the museum has room to grow (and I hope more exhibits are added soon) the current items on display are well worth the price of admission.
Krista Gibson: Loved visiting here. Having grown up by a volunteer department; and being on a volunteer department auxiliary in my 20's, it was very interesting and bright back lot of great memories!!
Bryan Likes to eat out: Closed. Looks like it has not been open in quite a while nice to know after I pay for parking

Jennie Gonzalez: We stopped by, as we were waiting for our flight. The displays are nicely arranged and organized. Nice to see the Fort Wayne's rich connection to aviation history. Glad we had a few minutes to view the museum, located right in the gate area, on the second level. (There's a place to make a donation, should you choose.) you can only access through TSA security (must be a passenger). it contains much of the lore of early 20th C flight, so it is worth a 20m walk through as you await a flight. a little short on recognition of the great women flyers of the 20th C in Fort Wayne.
D H: See a variety of local aviation history, artifacts, and memorabilia as you wait for your flight. Tour groups may be scheduled in advance. Otherwise you must be a ticketed passenger and pass through security.
