Midwest Eye Consultants: what do users think?
Tiffany Ingram: I gave this place so many tries! The waiting room staff are friendly in person, but will never answer your phone calls or call you back. This has happened to me on four separate occasions. The doctors who do all the basic eye checking have a ton of attitude and are rude, not professional at all.The eye doctor himself rescheduled on me 3x, I ran out of contacts in the meantime! And don't even get me started on ordering contacts through this company. The amount of times they just didn't place the order, so I'm literally waiting 2 months for my contacts only to find out they never even ordered them but still charged me. Multiple times they have over charged me as well.I will never go back, horrible disorganized place.
Peanut Head: This place is so slow and expensive. I paid for 1 pair of glasses in office and it's been a month yet I still havent received my glasses. I have the least complicated prescription ever, I got a popular frame brand, and only one add on. So I'm super confused why it's taking longer than 2 weeks for my glasses to come in. I called to check in around week 3 and was told the manufacturer hadn't even recieved my frames yet... what were you guys doing for the first 2 weeks then? Most shipping doesn't take longer than a week to get to its destination. I was told I would get them within 2 weeks. They didn't try to communicate with me at all. If I didn't call and ask they weren't offering any info on what was going on with my order. Also make sure you have them read you the itemized bill before paying because the doctors "recommendations" will rack up your bill sky high. Half the stuff you really don't need and they make you feel like you need all the bells and whistles to get that bill up. I'm just disappointed because if I was someone with worse eyesight and it took this long to get my glasses I'd be livid.
Samuel Stroth: Wish this place would stay true to their word. Was told my wifes prescription glasses would be sent out to Texas and back within 2 weeks. It's been 4 weeks now and still no word on where her glasses are. 3 weeks in we were told that the manufacturer in Texas hadn't even received the frames yet and were still waiting. So my question is why hadn't they been sent out in the first 2 weeks. We've gotten glasses from other places and the average waiting time is 1 to 2 weeks. Places can't keep using c*vid as an excuse to not ship things in a timely manner. I've shipped items out there before and it only took 3 days.Tried calling again a few times and no one will answer the phones. When they do answer I'm told there's nothing they can do until it's on its way back. So I guess after 5 weeks is when my wife will be able to see... thats just so great and helpful. Thanks.
Kate Komstead: I have Medicaid so I already knew that this was going to be a disaster, but I desperately needed a new prescription so I went anyway. I also knew that I needed an eye test as a medication I was taking at the time could cause eye damage. I told them as much when I came for my appointment so as a result, they did not dilate my pupils during the visit “because we want to make sure you come back.” Best way to tell me you’re more concerned with getting money from my Medicaid than caring for my eyes without directly telling me that.I picked up my glasses (which are falling apart less than a year later), cancelled the three appointments they had me make for the eye exam, and never went back. I can buy cheap glasses and have a half-a**ed exam elsewhere.
Areli Herrera: Too expensive! Plus they don’t know how to calculate the insurance benefits and has you pay the difference instead. I verified with my insurance the did not file all services covered. They gave me 3 different balances and seemed very confused what was covered.
Alexander Meeks: They had me do my eye test 3 months ago told me it would be 3 to 4 weeks and now 3 months later i came in and they legit messed up and didn't call me or inform me IN ANY WAY and had to wait even longer bc there actions biggest tip ever dont waste ya time
Valentina Rossi: When I scheduled an appointment for an eye exam, I wasn't aware that I had an outstanding balance from 3 years ago. When I showed up for my eye exam, they conveniently remembered the balance and all but demanded payment. I was told I couldn't have any services until the balance was paid in full. I understand the policy and the outstanding balance is totally on me, BUTTTTTTTT I feel they could have mentioned the balance and the consequences of not being able to get the exam until it was paid in full when I made the appointment. I feel they baited me into coming in and shaming me into paying. A bit underhanded on their part. The money I wasted on gas, a sitter and missing work to show up for a "fake" appointment could have been used to pay the debit off. Guess they won't see the money for a little while longer. Nice try though on their part to collect the money. Longe Optical it is.
Tom Hirata: Pam who does the scheduling was GREAT. The Staff was personable and informative. Dr. Dewit Was TREMENDOUS!!! I had an issue with my retina. She clearly explained my problem and how to treat it. Because of my condition, surgery was time sensitive. She and her staff spent time locating a specialist who had openings available in a short time frame. She sent a referral to the specialist for my surgery, following up several times. I would recommend Dr. Dewit for her professionalism, caring and follow up.
Amal Waggoner: Helpful, patient, & understanding.
Estefany Catota: Nurse was not friendly. Especially toward my daufhter seemed irrated she couldn't do some of the stuff.
Charles R Williamson Jr: Lost paperwork VA sent to the Coliseum branch, and they gave me the "You are wasting my time feeling" not only when I walked in the door but when I called to tell them my son was coming with me. The female on the phone said she'd put in a note. But she had a very condescending, and adversarial attitude. As a Veteran an U.S. Navy retiree I do NOT feel welcome there and encourage other #Veteran's to steer clear.
Kristina Pitcher: I take my 4 children here. The staff remembers them and is always kind, welcoming and patient.
Morgan James: We walked in today due to a chronic eye issue which today became acutely worse and staff at the desk were super nice. I apologized for just walking in with my teenage daughter, but again they were so kind about it. The lady who walked us back and initially collected information and performed some tests on my daughter was also very kind. But when the female doctor and the assistant walked in they were not so kind. The doctor talked down to both me and my daughter. I am a healthcare professional and was aware that my daughter was not properly taking care of her contacts and had discussed this with her. We were there for an acute problem which was not my specialty and I pay them to help us with these problems. I was so upset that I did not want to return to this particular office. But because we were treated with kindness by the office staff again at the end of our visit and the fact that we are treated very kindly by Dr Bashum, I rethought my decision.
Autumn Gatchell: My husband and I had a great experience. The young man at the front desk, Joseph Holmes, was very friendly, informative, and helpful. We were very happy with our service from everyone there.
Donna Moeller: very nice great doctor
Brandi Ramey: My sons and I have been going to Dr. Bonham for about 12 years now and he is by far the best eye doctor we have ever seen. My oldest son has horrible vision without his contacts in and he loves how thorough Dr. Bonham is when checking his eyes. WOULD NOT DREAM OF GOING ANYWHERE ESLE IN FORT WAYNE.
Sara GO: First visit with this doctor. His staff was excellent, professional and freindly. Explained every step of the check up process. Doctor Bonham was excellent also. Very comforting as a first time patient
Brigitte Rendon: Very bad was called to pick up my year supply of contacts and my glasses. Glasses were broken , they only order 1/2 a year supply of my contacts when I paid for a whole year supply, also every where else I have been too when you get an anual supply of lenses you get free solution, not there you have to pay 70.00 dollars more to insure your contacts so then you get solution, plus they dont even tell you that when you order. You would think they would check your invoice and your product to make sure is right before they call you. Then I spoke to the front desk about it all I was told was "that is why they are going to be mailed to you" like they were doing me a favor, I drove 25 minutes there and 25 minutes back almost an hour gas is not cheap I paid Insures, I had to paid out of pocket for the contact exam and for the contacts. If some one would had check before calling me it would not had been a problem.

Midwest Eye Consultants: what do users think?
Brittany P: I should have read the reviews before scheduling my appointment as a brand new patient. I had my whole experience typed out to paint a perfect picture of how unprofessional this place is. But based off the reviews (as you can tell by reading the first couple), I feel my particular situation isn't really necessary for the public to better understand why they shouldn't do any business with Midwest Eye Consultants.I went in and picked out my frames on 12/16/22, and I still don't have them. Midwest never called me once to let me know what's going on, so it was on me to call the 6 times and figure things out. I spoke to Valerie and Brandy, who in my option aren't manger material. I would've been ok with a simple "I'm so sorry for the inconvenience". But not once was that ever said to me throughout this whole experience. I get a bill for the remainder balance due by 2/5/23 and I don't even have my glasses yet. I finally was told today from Brandy that the claim was never filed with my insurance company. So my insurance company received the frames and realized there was no claim for them, they sent them back to Midwest, and they have just been on hold for WEEKS. They finally fixed the situation yesterday (or so I'm told) and now I'm looking at a few more weeks. I'm truly shocked and disappointed at the customer service I have received, and I will not being going back. I would save yourself the headache. LITERALLY!
yvette cole: I wish I could give them -2 stars. After ordering and paying for contacts over the phone. I got a call 1 week later to ask if they could help me with something because of a voicemail I left previously. My contacts were never ordered. They call me to pick them up. Only to ask for a payment. It took over 30 minutes to get my contacts. That was already paid for. I requested my records and will never go back. Very unprofessional.. Coliseum Rd Fort wayne indiana
VIDEOGAMEBOY22: Pure Awesomeness! Front desk woman is a pure gem! She got me in and the staff was excellent! Everything was TOP NOTCH! ❤️
Shanita Montgomery: Glasses was suppose to be here on the 9th still not here and no one is ever available to talk too always gotta leave a message or call the next day to speak to someone then they leave u on hold for 30 minutes just to tell u that not in yet
Tina Liberti: my son went to this office in Fort Wayne, IN. they proceeded to give him the wrong glasses 3 separate times. 1st time the lenses were scratched and the were actually the lenses that came in the display. they sent them back. 2nd time, no blue blocker as ordered. had to have them redone for a 3rd time. since he's had these "corrected" glasses, he has had horrendous headaches. we then go to an office in Warsaw, IN and they cannot fix the glasses that were ordered at the Fort Wayne office!so we have to pay again for new glasses and we REFUSE to go back to this office in Fort Wayne, as they are completely incompetent!!!! this is complete and utter bull$hit!!!!If I could give 0 stars, I would........go elsewhere!!!!!!
brendan ormsby: I rarely leave reviews but the experience I've had here is infuriating.I ordered my glasses over a month ago and I was told 3 weeks. I try to pick them up 3 weeks later and they aren't in, and I was informed that apparently it was "on or around the 7th" that they were supposed to show up. Okay, understandable. I call weekly after that and am given zero info except that they are not in. I got off work early today, the 28th, so instead of calling for the tenth time I thought I'd just go and speak to someone in person.I sat waiting from 3pm to 4pm and was accompanied with a friend, neither of us heard my name called. I go up to the desk after waiting an hour to see my name crossed off, and the lady gets an attitude with me saying she called me. Extremely frustrating. On top of that, I'm notified that my lenses were delivered uncut. Okay, mistakes happen. What I have a problem with is the fact that I received zero phone calls informing me of these things, which would've saved me a whole hour of waiting for nothing and then given an attitude after that. Why couldn't I have received a call? A letter? An email? Now it will probably be another month before they're in, and I'll probably have to be the one calling weekly once again to even find out.
Catie Manning-Ewald: Honestly I’m pretty easy but have been seeing Dr Taylor for years. Their staff has always been kind, accommodating and I’ve never had any issues.
KELSEY: Friendly people, I felt welcomed.
Adam Friedley: Jessie, was phenomenal!!’
Tiffany Duncan: This is by far the WORST eye place in Fort Wayne! Not only did they screw yup my eye exam but also my contact order TWICE! When you call to order 2 boxes of contacts then go to pick them up and find out they only ordered you 1 box! Will NEVER use them again. They are too worried about talking amongst themselves to actually pay attention and take care of customers.
BrileyAl: I visited Midwest Eye Consultants 2 years ago and wasn't satisfied with any of the experience. Customer service is laughable, wait times are long, even with several people in the office standing around talking.I got contacts (insurance paid) and bought glasses out of pocket. Contacts were fine as they were the exact same brand and prescription.I've never been able to wear the glass due to the sides of the lens having the fish bowl effect. Glasses continued to be this way even after several days of trying to wear them/adjustment period. I have never experience this before with glasses.Last year I went to a new optometrist and I brought in my glass purchased through Midwest-they confirmed that the lenses were "bent" too much on the outer corners and was causing my disorientation. I ordered new glasses through that company and I haven't had any issues with my new glasses.Only reason I'm leaving a review years later, is a co-worker just got new glasses and has the exact same experience as I did.
Keith Scott: People are great, felt very welcomed. Had a good experience with my appointment. However.... I learned the hard way when they say call to just go in. I had an insurance issue arise and was told to call the next day and they could take payment over the phone and order my frames, only they don't answer the phone... or return phone calls... I've called and left a message 3 times. Still waiting to hear back. Might have to take more time off work and just go in because the hours are not all that great for working class either..
Cate Williams: Not very impressed with the customer service. I ordered contacts and was told it would take 3-4 days. I attempted to call multiple times to the extension for contacts and glasses like instructed and had a very difficult time reaching anyone. So I hung up and called and finally spoke to someone after I hit the extension to make an appointment. I was told my contacts would be ready the next day after waiting 3 weeks. When I went to pick them up today the ladies were not very welcoming. I had been running around doing errands all day and just looked at my contact boxes (9:15pm) and realized they’re not marked which is the left and which is the right and they’re two different prescriptions which makes it difficult to figure out which one is the right eye prescription for that eye. I will be calling tomorrow and hoping someone picks up so I can figure out which script is for which eye and will not be returning back. The doctor was great but unfortunately the unwelcoming, very hard to get in touch with staff doesn’t make it worth my time.
Matt Arnold: The only reason I gave them 3 stars is because I think Dr. Swank and her staff always do a wonderful job. However, the lady at the front desk is rude and messed up my insurance information multiple times. It seems she doesn't understand how to operate the insurance "look-up" system. She also makes you sign for documents on a signature pad without showing you the documents. That's odd. Then there's the optical team who's supposed to help you select and order your new glasses. They're customer service is the worst! They treat you like you're wasting their time while selecting glasses - leaning on displays, huffing, not a single smile. They don't really care about your selection or whether it fits your face well. Then they messed up my total cost I'd owe... twice. Finally, I got my glasses ordered - only to discover when I got home that I'd already bought a pair of those frames from that store last year! Is it not in your system or something? I've been calling them repeatedly for 2 days now, left multiple messages, and can't reach anyone from the "optical team" - even though, Scott, in accounting tells me they aren't currently helping anyone. I still get transferred to a voicemail. Horrible service from the front office staff.
P. S.: The customer service is not great to say the least, it’s impossible to get ahold of someone over the phone and get simple tasks done.
Sue Swank: Had a great experience. Staff was very professional.
Ryan Bauer: The staff is always friendly and efficient.
Rachel Kerns: Horrible customer service!! They forgot to measure my daughter's eyes. So after I placed the order I had to go back to get her eyes measured. It turned out they has it in there system already. When we ordered her glasses I specifically asked if they needed her frames. They said no. Now they are saying they need them. Seriously!! I live across town and it is hard to get out that way. I only went there because they accept medicaid. I'm done! I have already demanded a refund. Absolutely inexcusable
Brenda Anderson: My experience at Midwest eye was very professional and all the employees were polite, friendly and caring. I would highly recommend getting MWEC to anyone for their eye care. Thank you for the Great experience!!
Kelly Bowman: Great staff, friendly, knowledgeable Doctors and the front office staff always goes above and beyond explaining benefits and coverage they are so pleasant.
Gerald Bassett: Very friendly staff. I recommend Midwest for a new pair of glasses! Thank you Midwest Eye Consultant!
