Purdue Fort Wayne Student Housing: what do users think?
Sierra Moreland: Do not recommend student housing. In my experience the roommate that I had keep playing the same song over and over again loud as hell (work hard play hard). My roommate would invite random people off the streets to stay on the apartment couch. Felt so uncomfortable at my apartment.
Jaylee Frye: I’ve had such MANY bad experiences with housing staff! They are never eager to help and seem to care less about their jobs.
Kim Haas: It's been one problem after another all 4 years my son has gone there. The current issue is the sprinkler system in the building froze because the pipes are on exterior walls and burst causing multiple apartments to flood. They seem to be fixing the broken pipe and patching the walls. The carpet and walls are drenched but that doesn't appear to be a priority at all.
Luis: Very bad 0/10 do not recommend
Azam M: Good amenities, maintenance is responsive.
B C: Haven't lived here for over a year, but when I did live here Freshman and Sophomore year, the rooms were overpriced for what they were, it was very easy to lock yourself out of your apt just by walking out the door (automatic locks) and it's $10 charged automatically just to have your RA open it back up for you. Probably better than most dorm experiences, but that's not really saying much.
Vika Platonova: My stove caught on fire and someone allegedly looked at it without telling me or any of my roommates for about a month, then my roommates shower was leaking and no one came to look at it. The school in general is pretty disorganized and the housing accommodations live up to that as well.
123: Terrible experience! The housing staff does not care at all about you or your needs. The way these people have treated me and other students is sickening.
Ariel Marley: Literally every single things you can imagine is wrong with this place. The administration is beyond poor and the staff do not care about students whatsoever. I cannot discourage you enough from living here.
Madeline McFadden: I attempted suicide and missed a meeting and the hall director, Jackson Russell, did not give a care at all. Also don't try to make an appeal because the investigation won't interview you and seems to just ask the hall director what they think. The school is very nice, but if you can live off campus, do it because everyone who works at housing is against you
Naomi Ashley: I do not recommend this place for anyone considering to live here. This place treats all the students here like children and they have no respect of person. I communicated with Ethan oldfield and tamera Dunn and they both never answer any questions asked of them. I was forced to write a pointless reflection paper about an incident that occurred in housing with me and another student. The student had put his hand on me, but got no consequences for it. I was the only one to get in trouble because I did not snitch. The staff is very one sided and take absolutely nothing into consideration. I put in a work order for maintenance about my door knob being fixed and it still to this day hasn't been fixed. WiFi is terrible. Walls are thins. Staff is terrible. Maintenance fixes nothing. Definitely not worth the money to live here. I wish I could give a -5/5 rating for this place.
Rachel Krieger: My roommate and I had issues since we moved in. We had a roommate who left her things everywhere and if you approached her about the issues she would be aggressive. She would say you have high expectations of cleanliness. I just asked her to pick up after herself and not fill the sink with her dishes. My roommate and I told the RAs in the building about the issues. The only thing they said was communicate. That's what we did and it didn't work. The messy roommate had put in a room transfer and she was denied. I know for a fact there were rooms. The apartment across from us had a spare room. I talked the the RAs again. We had another meeting and they said since things didn't resolve you will have to meet with the housing director. We agreed on it. The housing director never met with us. I found out from the club house that the director has been in meetings because nobody was getting along. Well I wonder whose fault that is....
Danie Ripgoggles: In the beginning of the school year, things were just...fine. The only complaints I have about the living spaces are that sometimes the water temperature is inconsistent, the windows don't close all the way so its often too hot/cold, and the doors sometimes open randomly with changes in air pressure. The real issues lie with the price and staff. It is EXTREMELY overpriced; I stayed in a 2 bed 1 bath plan and we broke down the payments to $780 a month. The staff are alright, but not attentive at all; we didn't even get a recycling bin at the beginning of the year, and we still haven't gotten one after requesting it (it's March now). Maintenance work orders take weeks to complete, and when they are done they aren't often done well. RA's will tell you when a heath inspection is to be completed 'within the next 24 hours,' but it isn't actually completed until several days later. The biggest problem came with the COVID-19 pandemic; they told students they were allowed to stay in Student Housing if they wanted/needed to, but then, a week later, 36 hours before a stay-at-home order from the Governor took effect, they tried to force everyone out of housing. It's hard enough to move in, but trying to move out with less than 48 hours' notice is near impossible, especially for students that are out of state, or live far away. It was also directly against the best interest of the students to do this; the virus spreads when people travel, so if they really cared about the health of their students they would have told everyone to stay put. To add insult to injury, they wouldn't even refund a semester; they offered $500 credit toward the next school year for those that were not seniors, and seniors got $500. As stated earlier, $500 doesn't even cover a month of residency. They don't have regard for their residents at all, and it's disgusting that they would put hundreds of young adults at risk just to save a few bucks. Any part of me that was considering living here next year has died.
lydia carter: Jalen, at the front desk of the clubhouse was awesome and very helpful! Super sweet lady.
Maggie Sullivan: This is my 4th (and last) semester living in student housing. A lot of these reviews scared me before I was going to move in, but these apartments are not as bad as some of these reviews makes them out to be. It's a very safe area and campus police are regularly on patrol. The full size beds are nice. My major complaint is the price. There are several apartment complexes in the area that offer much more space for less money. The wifi is also very slow and cuts out a lot. Overall it's not a bad place to live, there are just better options.
Derek Brown: I've had a decent experience my first semester here. WiFi is mediocre but the wired connection is amazing. When I made a work order the man was very helpful and quick with responding to my issue. I would like to clarify that I am living in one of the newer buildings(building k). I've been lead to believe that the older buildings(also the more expensive options) have had a lot more issues with things breaking down. The events put on by student housing can be cringe but free food is free food. The biggest benefit is being able to walk to class every day without having to cross traffic once. Every day in the winter I walk over that bridge seeing someone in a car wreck. Each time I appreciate student housing a little more.
Manuel Tuazon: First day..we see how’s it goooes😉😜
Blake Bratu: The housing IS NOT bad. I don't know if the other people reviewing have never leased before, but the campus housing is far better than other colleges that charge $5,500 (looking at my old college) and have public showering and bathrooms as well as just a single room and sharing a bed a few foot from another person, no kitchen. They don't hold a candle compared to housing here. For around $4,500 for BOTH semesters you get a 4 bedroom 2 bath. Your own ENCLOSED private room pre furnished. You also get a shared kitchen and stove, fridge, etc. You share the bathroom with another person (but it's better than the public showering and bathrooms right?) I had my own sink and my roommate had the other. We clean up after ourselves and had no problems together. You have the privacy of your own room with a lock and key as well.Of course you can find outside student housing that offer far better benefits and quality of life for less, but if you are a person who wants the on campus experience I suggest paying that luxury. For instance, nearby I can get a 2BR 2BA student housing (your own personal shower and bathroom) for around the same price as a 4BA 4BR here. But like I said, you are paying for the extra luxury of living on campus. The people in the reviews are probably expecting them to get a 2BA 2BR for less than $6000 total ($1500 higher for it.) The reason they're more expensive on campus is ON CAMPUS. It's also because of limited quantity. You can fit 4 people in an apartment but you pay more to keep that 4 person's worth of space and split it into two. That's the logistics of campus housing. It's because of the space you occupy that could have fit two more people in, etc.People saying it's too expensive simply expect their luxurious suite to be handed to them with scholarship money. It's like nobody here properly understands what handling money is, I swear. Now that doesn't negate the problems here. I had black mold on the shower vent (this was due to people keeping the bathroom door open when showering and mildewing the vent.) Within a day of filing they came and cleaned it no problem. Of course these conditions should have been checked earlier, but it was fixed the moment I called it out. These types of things could have happened at other apartments. The internet is perfect here. I pull 500mbps download speeds on Ethernet and around 50-100mbps on wireless. The NAT type is Strong and limits Xbox/PS4 party functionality. But overall it's pretty blazing internet speeds, although it could go out at night (this problem has been fixed as of recent.)The beds are cuddle beds and very comfortable. You can move your room furniture to your liking. Comes with cabinets, dresser, study space, etc.Now this is building D. I have seen worse conditions in other buildings (a 2BR 2BA with damaged tile and leaked fridge.) Maybe I was the lucky one to find a reasonable room and so this reflects in my review.Regarding mail, it is sent to the clubhouse. I have had mail not slipped and assumed as not there and have had to ask several times to take another look before they found one of my packages. But it's rare, it depends on the person working.I live in building D (the oldest building) and my rooming was not old looking at all. It looks like new carpeting was laid down as well as wooden slabs for the kitchen. Maintenance wise, our microwave broke and within 3 days they came in and replaced it.Some students expect maintenance to be there immediately when there's a back order at the very beginning of the school year with work orders for the crew.
Vitaliy Rabchuk: 2,500 a semester for a 4 Bed 2 Bath, I've been living in apartment D, and while there are plenty of flaws concerning cleanliness, the staff is respectful, and the location is nice.Take care of your own apartment regardless of how good your roommates are and you'll be fine. definitely beats overpriced dorms.
Ben Scholer: Full disclosure, I am not paying to live here, my job is.However, it is very over priced, however, utilities are included. The apartments look great when you walk in, but there's lots of little things wrong with them. For example, the top plugs on most outlets don't work, WiFi is trash, furniture is garbage, etc. However, Ethernet is stupidly fast. Gigabit speeds, if your computer can handle it. Overall would not recommend living here though, unless you need lots of bandwidth or *free* power.
Leanne KayJae: DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE BENEFITS OF LIVING AT IPFW STUDENT HOUSING. It is the absolute worst and I would give 0 stars if I had the option.THE HOUSING STAFF does not know how to handle situations correctly, does not follow policies, makes exceptions in benefits of themselves and it is such a shame. I have only lived here for a semester and I will not continue living at student housing anymore.

Yugo Fort Wayne Arch: what do users think?
Morgan Bair: My overall experience here was not great. This is supposed to be mainly student living and the gates don’t even work to make students and residents feel safe. We had so many maintenance issues, including getting locked out of our apartment from the INSIDE AND OUTSIDE. It happened two days in a row, the second day requiring maintenance to climb to the 3rd floor thru our window to fix it at 11:30 on a Saturday night. The pool was closed for half the summer almost because they couldn’t get chemicals right. My portal where I made payments was wrong for a few months in a row. If you are a college kid that doesn’t care about much, you would be fine here, otherwise I do NOT recommend living here.
Chantel Schmucker: New maintenance and management are really turning things around!! Its only up from here
Hannah Brooks: I’ve lived at the Arch for two years, renewing your lease early on discounts your rent so that’s a perk! The furniture they provided was very average, but it works! The office staff have always been nothing but professional and courteous. They don’t do a very good job of taking care of the parking lot in the winter- make sure you have a shovel 😅. The rooms are great with the walk in closets and all the natural light in the apartments is amazing. Maintenance tries to do a good job, it just seems like they’re understaffed- not the maintenance crew’s fault. I love the pool and volleyball court as well as all the community events they do to help us connect with the other residents. Also the gym and free tanning is nice!
Rachelle McCoy: I have had such an amazing experience here at The Arch. Maintenance is pretty fast when it comes to work orders and office staff are very knowledgeable. With all of the community events here, it's definitely an added plus. I am super happy with living here even being in different apartments complexes before.
Kaitlyn Lash: The apartment and furniture are very clean, the workout room/tanning room is nice, the staff members are friendly and extremely helpful. I am very pleased with my experience at the Arch so far.
Shayla Bowker: Been living here since August. Maintenance is very quick and fixes anything we need! Great area and love my roomies :))
kendall duffield: I highly recommend NOT living here. The staff in the office are incredibly rude and very unhelpful. They will nitpick every tiny thing (even if it is supposed to be the complexes responsibility) and screw you on your deposit. The parking lot in the winter…. Best of luck not spinning out, because they do not salt or take proper care. They will lose your mail and packages.
Pallav Kannaiyan: Room was spacious enough for a bachelor
Amy Reed: This place is a joke, don't try to resolve an issue with them. Need new management & would never recommend.
Madison Langdon: It is a nice place to move into as a college student. The space is great inside the apartments. You are getting a lot for what you are paying for. One of the best places in Fort Wayne when it comes to apartments. The only negative thing would be that it can get pretty loud on the weekends. Some noise control with that would be great.
Alex Hibler: Uber driver. Fix your lights. Most dangerous drop off because it’s so dark and it’s a busy lot.
Lacie Batiste: worst place possible to live disgusting dirty crazy people no cameras if your car gets hit by a drunk driver which happened to my roommate gates don’t work office ladies are rude and don’t take u seriously because you’re in college furniture they provide is disgusting trash is always overflowing and they don’t clean the apartments in between residents and didn’t have a maintenance team for a few months and roommate matching is not accurate and did not take initiative when they matched me and another person with a crazy person who was stealing personal information and money from us live literally anywhere else they just want money
Jessica Parrett: If I could give negative stars I would. My son moved here for his freshman year of college after they painted such a great picture of this complex. Needless to say the apartment he was given was NOTHING like the staged apartment you preview. The roommate he was paired with had nothing in common with him after being told they were matched via the personality questionnaire they have you complete. On move in day we find 80% of the furniture was broken. The carpets were disgusting. There was no working air conditioning and no filter for the furnace. After several maintenance requests nothing was addressed in regards to the broken furniture. Needless to say we moved my son out early. Do yourself a favor and keep looking at other apartments. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone!
Kaley F.: Chris and Roscoe from maintenance are awesome!
Cheryl Meyer: My daughter was set to move in a year ago. She was notified three times of her apartment assignment (twice she was assigned different roommates than who she signed the lease with). I called twice to find out what the problem was, I never received a call back! She had already signed a lease and classes were starting soon so she decided to go ahead and move in anyways. Every time I would visit, there was trash overflowing onto the parking lot, the steps were broken and hazardous. With the snow fall this winter, they would plow the parking lot but while doing that they would plow the snow up close to the parked cars so the residents weren't able to get their cars out. The security gates seemed to always be broken. If you're looking for a secure apartment for your college student to live, I would keep looking or consider campus housing.
Joe Hunter: You the staff, are the worst possible at your job. I have contacted you over three years on multiple different occasions, to try and rent a apartment. I have tried the chat feature on the website, no response, I have left multiple voicemails, no response, I have used the text feature, no response, and lastly I have emailed multiple times with no response. You absolutely all deserve to be fired. I have never understood how anyone can be so worthless at their job with zero accountability. Now I understand how all the other horrible reviews are possible. I hope the owners lose this property and it can be taken over by someone who actually will work.
Sean Beerbower: I'm a Pizza Hut driver and I delivered to the Arch and there was garbage over flowing out of the dumpsters and everywhere in the grass. I watched two raccoons fight over a bag of trash. It was amazing.
noah kamden: “it is so bad I want to give you a zero. but that’s not possible, so I give you a one.” - Tyra BanksMs. Banks must have been talking about the Arch Fort Wayne in that viral tiktok audio. Seriously though, this place is horrid. Trash everywhere all the time, broken gates, broken appliances that they don’t fix, closed “24/7” gyms, “free printing” that doesn’t work, slow internet, parties outside until 2am every weekend, doors that don’t shut/lock, and the list goes on and on but I only have so many characters in this review. They don’t clean the apartments between residents, or if they do it’s not done well at all. When we moved in we spent three days cleaning. The staff are friendly (most of them..) but unfortunately that doesn’t make up for how terrible this property and living experience is. The maintenance team is awful, they blame issues on you and leave without fixing them. When you order anything, you must go to the office to pick it up if they’re open and if it’s paper mail, good luck cause it’s put in your mailbox at their convenience. The pool isn’t even open (it’s almost june), but last year when I moved in it was always dirty anyways. The first month I lived here my car was vandalized (I had an LGBT sticker on my bumper). Someone cut the sticker, cut my car, and placed the remnants on my windshield. The Arch said there is nothing they can do because they don’t have cameras. All three bathtubs in my apartment don’t hold water so it’s basically a dirty shower with a strainer to stand in. Other residents let their pets run off leash and leave their waste everywhere, with no repercussions. Unsalted sidewalks in the winter, you WILL injure yourself. This is not only MY experience, but every person i’ve met who lives here as well. The bad reviews are bad for a reason, I wish I had listened to them. You should. Do not live here. When you tour they’ll show you a staged clean apartment and the lobby (the only building in this property they put money into), and you’ll say “hmm maybe the reviews aren’t accurate.” They are. Go somewhere else.
Abdullah Alaskar: If you have a car, it’s going to be a better place to live than this Arch..
Emilie Wallace: They advertise this place so well, they really do. However it’s all just a lie. Dog bag trash is always full and instead of cleaning out the cans they threaten the residents with fines if your dog isn’t picked up after. That goes for all trash, the dumpster is constantly full. They will go months with out getting the dumpsters replaced. My dryer hasn’t been working for almost two weeks now and they can’t seem to find time to figure out what the problem is to fix it. I called today because I didn't think it was right for me to have to go to a laundromat for something I was already paying for here, they offered for me to do my laundry in a vacant apartment and said they’d call me back in an hour with the info but I never received a call and the office is now closed. Very professional. They’ll hold your mail for over a week before putting it in your mail box which is illegal. They don’t salt the walk ways during the winter so be prepared to break your neck every time you take a step off the stairs. The court yard is constantly covered in trash and broken glass and they never clean it up so that’s lovely for walking your dogs. I have never lived somewhere where I was promised so much and received the worst living conditions I’ve ever had to deal with. Please do not put yourself through this. Do not live here. I’ve tried to be patient and respectful when talking to the staff but all they do is lie and never follow through with anything. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. This has been the worst experience for myself and my roommates. There were so many bad reviews on this place and I ignored all of them and decided to move here anyway. I wholeheartedly regret it. Please don’t ignore the bad reviews because unfortunately they are all true.
Brianna Ebert: This is truly a great place to live! The new management is awesome and very welcoming. All of the staff tries to help in anyway they possibly can to fix complaints/ issues. The Arch is an amazing place to make new friends as there are many types of people. There are a lot of activities so everyone is always included. If you ever have the chance, I would definitely recommend living at The Arch!
