Coventry Taekwondo: what do users think?
Ben: Daughter loves this place
Andrea Myers: This is a school that focuses on the individual first. They work with kids and adults of all abilities. They hone technique as the student progresses, meaning when they feel the student is ready for a greater challenge they provide it. However, they don't ever make someone feel bad for needing a little more time to get it right. The only thing keeping me from 5 stars is class size. Class sizes for kids sparring, board breaking, and weapons are getting a little big for the space. I hope we break the classes up a little more, but I don't know that there would be time on the schedule for that. These instructors are young for the most part, but they work hard to set a good example. However, the more seasoned instructors offset the inexperience well.
Chanel Bova Burnworth: My son just started but they seem to have a great program! They sare respectful, informative, fun, and organized. I can't wait to see what the future holds!
Ann Dunlap: Coventry Taekwondo has changed my life! My daughter started there 5 years ago. Now she's a second degree black belt instructor. My husband started a year and a half ago and is well in his way to black belt.As for me, I've been a student for 8 months. I've lost 25 pounds, significantly lowered my blood sugar (I'm diabetic), and have confidence that I can do anything I set my mind to! The instructors have created an atmosphere of encouragement and affirmation, and have become like family. To speak to the concerns voiced in another review here, we are a multi-racial family, and we are definitely lower income than most of the families there. There are students of every race there, and there has never been discrimination that I've been aware of. The children are taught to be respectful by being shown respect. I cannot say enough good things about this school!
Tametria Sheppard: This is my experience with Coventry-Stellhorn-Dupont Taekwondo schools in Fort Wayne. The three are evidently connected, testing is done together.I am a multi-racial parent who took my children to one of these schools, took advancement classes and tests at others. I was emotionally disturbed because of what I truly felt to be some kind of a bias. Hence the review. My kids had earlier training at a different place before my job transfer brought me to Fort Wayne, IN. We went to one of the schools with high hopes. I kept my patience with everything for some time only to be supportive of my children's enthusiasm in taekwondo. Finally took my hurt and demotivated children out because of the not so positive experience. This is my experience and observation. I'm coming out, as it is about many kids like mine and their healthy development. What can motivate them to grow up to be good Samaritans when their trust is broken at a young age based on factors that God only controls?! I do not intend to hurt anyone or be negative on the internet. I'm a responsible parent of young kids who do not 'LOOK' like the Majority, I very much care for their safety therefore this anonymity. I'm sure other parents and sensible readers understand my position. My observation and participation in the schools' testings and other activities strongly tell me that these schools give priority to students based on certain factors only openly known to the owners and administrations. Be assured, our law doesn't approve of these factors. If you are one of the parents reading this, it would be useful to carefully watch how certain things are done.My kids loved everything about taekwondo. They were really eager. Every time they had a question they were hushed. Sometime the reasons given were 'you did not raise your hand before talking' 'you wiggle too much' 'you are too loud' 'that is not the right way' 'you are smelling' 'do not interfere' and so on... While discipline is essential to the training this bias was quite blatantly visible. It doesn't take too much to demotivate kids, does it?I had heard good things about their weapons and sparring training. Unfortunately wasn't the case with my kids. The schools didn't say it, but now I feel they are mostly run by the family, for the family, where families of the instructors and close circle of certain people are taught and promoted. If this is the set up, the school should make it clear to parents like me. Why would we burden them with our kids? We love our kids, dignity and our money.Their board breaking arrangement is whacky. Some of the holders held boards in such a way the boards wouldn't break even with a Grizzly kicking, punching at it. What was whackier was the choice of kids sent to these stations. As a parent time and again I tried really hard to make sense out of the whole board holding mess. Many parents had the same concern.I'm thankful I got out before it was too much. I only wish the schools become more open, tolerant and less biased. Can only hope this review helps them reflect. God bless all the students and parents. Some instructors in schools are well trained in Taekwondo, unfortunately they lack the patience to teach all kids the same way. They talked nice to my kids the only when I was watchful. Whenever I was watching, my kids were called out and appreciated. However, when my wife and I weren't watching our kids, it was a different ballgame.I'm thankful I got out before it was too much. I only wish the schools become more open, tolerant and less biased. Can only hope this review helps them reflect. God bless all the students and parents. MLKs DREAM still seems distant.

Dupont Taekwondo: what do users think?
ribs1: We had a great time training at Cabeen's ATA. We came from out of town to train for a few days and couldn't be happier. Mr Cabeen and Miss Johnson are great instructors. My daughter was thrilled.
Kimberly Squires: My son loves it here! Everyone is so friendly. Instructors are high ranked and know their stuff!
Alex Bishop: Mr. Cabeen, Mrs. April and the entire staff are wonderful. They are so amazing with the kids and great with teaching the art of taekwondo. They are encouraging, inspiring, and patient with the kids. In addition to teaching taekwondo, I love that they teach the kids core values, such as respect, honesty, self-discipline, integrity and commitment. Their weekly flexible schedule is great. They have multiple classes throughout the week and they allow you to choose from the classes so it fits your schedule. You don’t have to choose the same time slots every week. My wife and I are super busy and our weekly schedule changes like the wind, so having that option of choosing to attend classes on different days from week to week is amazing. My wife and I and our kids couldn’t be happier with their services. Thank you so much! If you are thinking about getting your kids involved in martial arts, I highly encourage you to stop by and give them an opportunity.
Justin Ferratusco: My son has been with Cabeen for 4 years now. He and the ATA have been such a positive influence In my sons life. Not just with martial arts but with life skills as well. This studio regularly produces state, district, and world champions. And the leadership club routinely does service for the community such as collections for the spca, and the NICU at park view hospital. I wouldn’t trade this studio for the world. It is more like a family than a studio.
Danielle Smith: Great place to teach life skills to children and adults of all ages. Instructors are not too pushy and allow students to participate at the pace their bodies will allow. My 41 yr old body is not capable of doing what the teenage body is, and they understand this and only push me to my comfort level.

All Star Martial Arts Academy: what do users think?
The RebelLeader: This is a wonderful place to be. I have been doing this for countless years now it seems and I still love it. She takes time to assist each student when they need help and makes sure that they have it before they graduate to the next belt. She has made this a wonderful place for not only us students but also the parents. Master Himelick even organizes activities outside of class for us to participate in. Calling these people friends would be an understatement. These wonderful folks are my family!
Delco light Collector: Great place. Instructor is fantastic!
Carissa Clay: This place has been amazing and master himelick is an amwzing instructor and pushes her students. She has done wonders with my son. The family atmosphere is also amazing, as she doesn't just stop with her students. She makes time to make conversation and cares about the students families.
Jessica Pennington: We love All Star! My kids have learned so much since starting here, and we’ve made incredible friends who are like family!
Omnipro1993: Great place to be
Mic Schaefer: My oldest daughter started at 3. She is now 7 and she is almost a black belt. She has learned discipline and is a straight A student.
April Klekot: My son started taekwondo at All Star Martial Arts when he was 5 years old. He is now 12 and a first degree black belt. It has been great for his self esteem and given him a great sense of accomplishment. Master Himelick has been wonderful at finding out what motivates each child and bringing out the best in them so they are always progressing.

Basche's Martial Arts: what do users think?
Alana Collins: Basche's Martial Arts has been a wonderful experience! Our daughter has learned self-discipline, confidence, perseverance, respect, and self-defense all in an environment with a staff that truly cares and works hard to be sure all students are achieving to their fullest potential. We are so happy that we found Basche's Martial Arts!
Sierra J: i am so thankful to have placed him in a martial arts school that genuinely cares about each student and their needs. basche’s martial arts school has helped my son gain confidence, stay focused, have self-discipline, be respectful, and he has a great time learning how to defend himself!if you or someone you know was thinking about joining a martial arts school, i highly recommend basche’s martial arts!
Ron Herrell: One of the best decisions I have ever made. I have gained so much from Sensei, instructors and my fellow students. I came in thinking I was just going to start taking martial arts classes again. I have gained so much other experience such as leadership skills, that I use in my daily profession, fitness, and I made a family in the Basche family. God could not have provided a better blessing than Basche's.
Michele Reasoner: My son has been attending for a year and absolutely loves it!! The transformation that he has shown over the last year has been amazing. They teach respect in everything they do.
Brooke Schafer: Our son started in September of 2021 and hasn't looked back since. He's learned so much about respect, self-discipline, he works hard at school and at home, and he has an "I can do it" attitude with everything that he does. This is about so much more than just karate. Sensei and and his staff have been amazing instructors and are very personable with your child. Thankful for Basches and all they have to offer.
Misty Becher: Basche's Martial Arts is more then just a place to learn karate. It's a great place to learn self defense, respect, values, and a sense of accomplishment if you put forth the effort. You will get out of it what you put into it. Instructors David and Mary are really good at teaching karate and helping everyone learn what is required for their belt levels. The positive atmosphere leaves you wanting to come back again and again to push yourself to the next level. Sensei Basche is a disciplined black belt who pushes you to achieve your best because he knows you can rise up to the challenge. If you are wanting a karate school that you can thrive at then this is the place for you!
Katherine Wilkinson: A totally awesome practice of body and mind! Our 7 year old has vastly improved her listening skills, her self discipline and her focus.
Kori Stokes: My son loves it here. I love it as well it reminds me of when I took karate! They're all so kind and it makes my son so happy to be here. He's learned so much within just a month I couldn't be more proud of the respect and discipline he shows and the fun he has! Thank you.
Jacob O'Dell: I've only been taking classes for about 3 weeks at this point, but so far, I've loved the experience. All of the instructors have been great to work with and I've had the chance to see them interact with students of all ages since my nephew has also been recently enrolled. (His behavior and technique is also improving little by little.) In classes both big and small, instructors take the time to give each student individual attention to improve their technique.Speaking for myself, I already feel significantly more confident even after just a few weeks. Having even the basic level of knowledge I've acquired so far has given me immense peace of mind when walking through areas where I used to constantly look over my shoulder. I am consistently impressed not only with the skill of the instructors, but the skill of higher level students. It really feels like everyone has earned their belts and I'm excited to know I have so much left to learn.Sensei Basche himself is an excellent instructor and mixes lessons about life with lessons about martial arts. It's clear that he genuinely enjoys what he does and hopes to help as many people as possible with what he has learned.Everyone is friendly and encouraging, including the students, and not once have I felt like I didn't belong here, despite being severely overweight and out of shape. The staff members are great at answering questions and enjoy having friendly conversations with people. While everyone is serious about training, they're also not afraid to have a good time while doing it. As cliché as it might sound, it really does feel like everyone is one big extended family, or at least what a family should be in terms of support and encouragement. I'm looking forward to the rest of my journey to becoming a black belt (and beyond) and I would encourage anyone to try out Basche's Martial Arts.
eric mcdonald: I known Sensei basche he since I was 14 years old he is a great teacher and role model to me he brought me a long way from being a troubled juvenile to a grown man I am now I learned so much from him respect discipline and how to protect myself I earned my belt before black belt from him and I thank God for putting him in my life cuz I wouldn’t be the man I am today if it wasn’t for him and God thank ya so much Sensei Basche for everything
Darren Harvard: My daughter has decided to start karate lessons and this place is amazing. I would recommend anyone that is interested in trying it out to go to their website and sign up for the free trial.
J.Michael Franio: Basche's Martial Arts is an investment in your children. Enrolling our 9 year old daughter has been truly life changing. Not only are we seeing benefits with her behavior and school grades, but also major improvements to her confidence, self-discipline, and in her interactions with others. She is also learning a life skill that could aid in saving her life as lessons go far deeper than just punching or kicking and having fun. With human trafficking being a reality this day in age, it was very important to us for her to identify a threat to her safety and know what she can do to not fall victim to being abducted. Aside from self defense, the classes also strengthen and motivate my daughter to do her very best. The choice to stay and train at Basche's has been entirely up to her and I couldn't be prouder for her making the decision to stay the course to a black belt.My daughter isn't the only proof I have of this school's success. I've watched many classes and have seen so many children progress through the belt levels and show unbelievable improvement. Sensei provides the kids with all the equipment and skills needed to build a strong foundation of training starting with the basics class. It is comprised of self defense maneuvers that are practiced to perfection and built upon in later belt levels in which sparring will then be introduced. The first few weeks are intimidating to both the kids and the parents. While it might seem like a bit of a boot camp at first, that feeling will subside and you'll quickly understand that sometimes a bit of harshness is what is needed to motivate and challenge the kids. At no point will any of the instructors or Sensei create an unsafe environment. Sensei also takes the initiative to reward students that show improvement or dedication. This makes a lasting impression on each of them.Sensei lives and trains in what he teaches, which is exactly what you want in a teacher. He and his staff and instructors are simply amazing. They are caring and always have the kid's best interests at heart. They are sensitive to anyone with special needs and are very accommodating. Their leadership program focuses on developing kids into instructors and working on their communication and social skills.Basche's provides an environment that will make you feel like you're part of the family. In addition, they hold many events that benefit families and children. Belt graduations, Halloween trunk or treat's, hosted birthday parties, Christmas parties, summer camp, board & brush events, parent's night out & valentine's parties.. there may be more I'm forgetting. The school is so family oriented that parents and kids alike will find great lasting friendships. If you're on the fence, I advise contacting them and seeing if they have an introductory rate or special trial period for enrollment. Give it a try and see if it's for your or your child. This is how we got started and will tell you it was an excellent move!
iNinja Poof: I've always loved martial arts and Basche has shown me why. They are very welcoming and have a warm positive attitude. The staff has taken my family into the Basche family and we couldn't be happier! The classes are a lot of fun and teach you a lot of valuable information, some amazing techniques, and mind set. It's everything I could have hoped for in a martial arts school, and I can't wait for my journey through the belts!Chad
Destiny Erhardt: When we walked into Basche's Martial arts, we had no idea we were walking into family. Sensei has put a breath of new life into my husband and my daughter. They both look forward to going to classes. I love the atmosphere Sensei has created and how he is teaching about a lot of things we have gotten away from! We look forward now to being busy and being surrounded by the other parents and families! Their leaders are incredible and Miss Mary, Amber, and Lindsay are the best team!!
Becca Montgomery: The staff, teachers and sensei are all very kind and make the classes fun for everyone while still teaching the kids respect and discipline.

Tyler Davis: My son and his friends had a blast at his birthday party here! Staff was very nice and the Sensei made it fun and was helpful during the party. Exceeded our expectations and couldn’t of asked for a better party.
tiki19843232: I started my son doing Little Tigers class at Basche's Martial Arts here in Fort Wayne, IN back in November of 2021. He has greatly improved his respect, self diciplin, and obedience to his father and I. His school has reported he has improved his attitude, citizenship, and his grades have sky-rocketed. He is in 1st grade and has now scored a 5th grade level of reading and a 3rd grade level of math skills! He has now graduated to basic kids class with his yellow belt and respect patch with 2 belt stripes! We are so proud of him in his progress due to Sensei Basche's training and counciling. This is the best thing we have done for our son yet and even more so he has improved himself through it all. Because of his improvement I decided to enroll myself as well. I had to quit working to stay home to care for my parents and kids. My mother has early onset Dimensia and my father is on dialysis. I decided to donate my kidney to my father so the first stage went through, but I was stopped at the second stage due to my BMI and weight being too high. I started Basche's at the last week of November weighing in at 253lbs. and a BMI of 43.8 where as the goal was 217 lbs and BMI of 40 or less. Since I started at Basche's today I weigh 214 lbs. and my BMI is 37.6 which is way in range of my goal. I have now begun the second stage of the transplant testing and compatibility lab work. I am forever grateful for Sensei Basche and everyone at Basche's Martial Arts for all of the support, encouragement, and always being positive in every situation. I am willing to look at myself in the mirror again, I have been able to buy new clothes that actually fit and look good (according to my kids I can dress like a girl again), and I have the confidence to be myself again. I will be attending Basche's for the foreseeable future for sure.
M L: My 14year old daughter has been attending 4 days a week for a year and she is noticeably more confident, assertive in what she wants and even grades have improved. EVERY time she leaves class she is happy and bubbly. We spar together from time to time and her skills have improved tremendously! If you're looking for a school this is the one!
