Amy's Critter Care, LLC: what do users think?
Bethany Lucas: Update March 2023: still the best place to take your ferrets. We'd been out of the ferret game for a couple years but recently adopted 3 rescues. We now live an hour away from Critter Care, but the drive is worth it. Everyone there knows how to gently care for and distract ferrets during exams. They're up to date on all the best treatments and are very familiar with the many ferret ailments. Because we moved, we wanted a backup ferret vet nearer to us, and that was a mistake. The other ferret vet traumatized our ferrets and missed obvious issues. Critter Care will always be our go-to.Original from 2018:This is THE vet to go to. We had tried a lot of vets closer to us, but there always tended to be issues eventually, sending us back on the hunt for a great ferret vet. This is it. She's up-to-date in terms of best practices, and she's fear free! Our ferrets have been mistreated by past vets because they are "just animals," but it's different here. We got some bad news for one of our little fellas (that had been missed by another vet two weeks before), and they let us grieve, even though they had technically closed. They also sent us a condolences card when he passed. They've taken great care of our other ferret, and they've even answered questions over the phone. When we have emergencies, they have everything prepared before we get there. Really just couldn't ask for more from a vet. We'll be sticking with her for all of our future pets, even if it means we have to drive a little further.
Margaret Fuentes: Through and great bedside manner for both animals and humans.
Suzanne Hagmaier: Attentive staff. Excellent care. Friendly staff
Renaldo Gutierrez: Wonderful place
Celene Swiftshadow: Absolutely love Critter Care. Rock star staff. Dr. Liza is the most compassionate understanding vet/person I've had the pleasure of meeting. I trust this office with all my pets. They have extensive knowledge for exotic animals, pretty sure ferrets are their favorite. 😉
Anthony: Great place to take pets if they are sick or injured. I have lots of pet rats and whenever they are sick the doctors help them out. Thanks Critter Care!
Joseph Hosier: Very caring
erik rhee: Best vet around! Love the staff!!
Kimberly Davis: The staff is very friendly and professional, and always put the animals' well being first. My baby boa constrictor was starting to show symptoms of an upper respiratory infection, so I sent in an email. They gave me a call back very promptly and were able to schedule me for an appointment the next day. They weighed and examined her, and they double checked that my snake was kept in the proper conditions and had everything she needed. They explained the possible causes of her condition and cautioned me to quarantine her from my other snake. They rinsed her mouth out and gave her an injection of antibiotics, and made sure to explain what to do step-by-step before sending me home with more to give her at set intervals at home. The cost of the vet visit wasn't cheap, of course, but it was so much less than I feared it would cost.It was a Friday, so the results of the viral testing wouldn't be available for several days, but they checked in on us in the meantime to make sure she was improving. Dr. Pfaff kept in contact with me via email to continue clarifying some of the advice she'd given me during the appointment. My boa is improving quite a lot, and I'm really glad I chose this vet for my snakes!
Chamisa Gordon: The staff is amazing and the really took time with me and my dog. Definitely a great place to take your animals.
Adam Campfield: Dr. Liza and team are the best. Having experienced a vet like this I can't imagine going anywhere else. We take a cat and a service dog and really appreciate the care and thought that goes into not only the medical side, but making the whole experience as low stress as possible for all
Y N: Dr. Liza treated my daughter's leopard gecko, from 10/2018-4/2021. Our gecko had problems on and off with eating, most of her time with us. She would no longer hunt food, so she was losing a lot of weight. We were told to give her baby food and take her in for repeated Vitamin B injections. Even when doing everything we were instructed to do, the gecko's health declined rapidly. We decided to take her to a different vet, for a second opinion, since she wasn't improving. At this point, her eyes were sunken in, and one of her eyes wouldn't even open. She also had some rawness on her back and was lethargic. The new vet examined her and did an xray. She had fluid in her stomach, and had stomach inflammation and infection. Sick reptile food and antibiotics were prescribed. The second vet did say, that baby food was not an appropriate diet for a leopard gecko, especially a sick one. Also, the gecko shouldn't have been receiving ongoing Vitamin B shots. My daughter found her gecko dead a few days later. It was horribly sad to watch her slowly die. 😢Dr. Liza was always very nice and responsive. From what the other vet said, though, she should not treat reptiles. It felt horrible to know that if we had treated the gecko, differently, there could have been a very different outcome.
Melly H: Honestly I'm heartbroken by this clinic. I told them a story about a bad experience at another vet where they did not offer me informed consent about who was handling my gerbil, and I think I may have scared them here. My gerbil has a chronic issue with his teeth, and they suggested incisor removal, which I wasn't comfortable with so I declined. They were trying to force me to make doctors appointments instead of tech appointments, claiming tech appointments for teeth trimming is illegal, I contacted the board of veterinarians and they informed me it isn't illegal. They are also booked out weeks for doctors appointments, and his teeth grow fast, so by then my gerbil would have been in extreme discomfort or maybe even dead. All the other vets require an intake appointment and they're also booked out months. I already did an intake appointment here with these people. When I made attempts to find a compromise, Dr Pfaff would not take my calls and sent me incredibly insensitive toned emails instead, stonewalling me completely. She straight up admitted unwillingness to help me. I wasn't trying to be annoying. But anyway I'd give half a star more if I could because Dr Nabilla and the rest of the staff are all very pleasant to be around and do appear to care, but Dr. Pfaff is not one to be argued with even if she's not necessarily right. She does not hold her services to a standard of care for people in rough situations, even though all I needed was 15 minutes of the clinics time once a month. It wasn't ever about paying for a doctors appointment, it was just about finding a way to find care for my baby.Edit: I called two days before the time of this review to try to talk to the vet, so at no point have I EVER expected the vet to drop anything to talk to me. I gave her the chance to get back to me before I called today and was met with big attitude. And I explained in an email why scheduling a month in advance wouldn't work for us in the past, but we are in a place to do that now, but in that time my gerbils teeth don't just stop growing, so what else was I supposed to do. I could have made an appointment for the future if I could have worked something out today, but instead I was just tossed out like trash. 100% did nothing to warrant aggression shown in the reply to this review. I tried to explain misunderstandings in those emails.
T. Smith: Dr. Pfaff is an excellent and very caring vet that loves the furry noodle, AKA ferret. She's knowledgeable about the ills they can go through, and will put her all into saving their lives. Thank you Dr. Pfaff for helping Babygirl, and for trying to help my Bella.
Samantha L: Wonderful office. They truly care about the animals they help and give me confidence they're knowledgeable in what they do.After going to them for full year, I cannot recommend this location enough. After being told by other locations to put our pet down, critter care animal hospital ran tests and informed us on the actual issues and informed us they would do whatever possible to save our hamster. Very grateful for this location.
Sherry Violett: I called to see if they had a groomer
Rocio Campos: I called trying to get info on my pets the person that a ser my call was rude keep saying she couldn’t hear me put me on hold and just hang up after that I find out this really rude if you don’t like your job or your not patient don’t work!!!!!!
Nicole Wheeler: One of the best vets I've ever used. They're reasonably priced, compassionate, knowledgeable, and go the extra mile.
Kristen Hudson: They care for ferrets and were able to diagnose a problem that had been on going. My daughter prefers them because they handle her animals with much more care than other places that we have been.
Atma Andrath: Just the best vet. Period.
Amanda Waltz: Very kind staff. Got down on the ground with my dog instead of doing everything standing on the metal counter. They make the exam rooms very comforting for pets.

Lorie Chambers: No. Totally unacceptable. They only get one star because at least they are polite about holding drivers hostage for hours beyond appointment time. Even gave them the benefit of the doubt.First time coming here for a 1500 appointment, after spending hours waiting, they said "load will not be ready until the next day at 9 pm." Uh no ??!! - today, appointment time 1600, got there, checked in at 1420, at 2000, went back in asked what was up, and was told "we won't be getting to you till at LEAST 2230, but OFTEN they don't get drivers out until 0300 the next day" - informed them that it was unacceptable, and notified dispatch who said for us to go ahead and leave. We did. Thankfully our company does not play these games with shippers.
