Current owner and operator Sarah Knochel apprenticed under Joyce for ten years before inheriting and expanding the business. Now located and established in the Broad Ripple community in Indianapolis, Indiana, our studio boasts an expert staff with more than 100 years of fine sewing experience.


We specialize in high-end and formal dress alterations and specialty fabrics. Wedding gowns and celebratory event looks are our forte! Whether you need help looking your best for a day you’ll never forget, or just some tweaks on a bridesmaid’s dress, we are Indianapolis’ premier experts in alterations.

Working on bridal gowns is no easy feat. Our full-time seamstresses, hired because of their exceptional skill and attention to detail, go through months of training and apprenticeship before graduating to work on bridal gowns. Our 1,200-square-foot workroom holds the finest tools and machines necessary to complete your alterations with the highest professionalism.

She had to take my all-lace Pronovias gown with a 6 1/2 foot train in a couple of inches on both sides (I lost quite a bit of weight between buying the dress and it coming in, and even after my first appointment), hemmed it, added cups, and created the most beautiful French bustle. She even steamed out my veil so I could pick it up looking perfect two days before my wedding! She is a dream to work with, and was up front about costs and carefully walked me through what to expect throughout the process. Simply amazing work! I am a repeat customer. On the first visit my daughter was going to have alterations done to her bridesmaid dress and asked if I could also get a dress altered, however I think I had more like 5 dresses. Nonetheless Earma was very accommodating, so when I needed my dress altered for an upcoming event, I reached out to Earma. Highly recommend if you want great service!

Earma is amazing!!!! I contacted her with a crazy request- I needed alterations to my wedding dress within a week. Last minute before my wedding, I decided to change dresses. Earma was able to get me in the day I called her. She also had my dress done 3 days early. She had so much work to do for this dress and I have no doubt in my mind she is the only person who could’ve pulled this off.
