We had a full irrigation system installed. Chris communicated well with me throughout the entire process, responded promptly to all of my calls, and exceeded my expectations with the timeliness of the installation. He was also courteous, professional, and highly knowledgeable.
Chris Peters installed 200 feet of French drain in a day and a half, hand digging it due to numerous utility lines and a sprinkler system. He was polite, professional, quick and explained the process well. Area involved had been a marsh for a year. We could see drainage immediately!

Gabe Gordon: Another irrigation company was lax on winterization and caused a geyser yesterday in my front yard. I called this company thinking I would get a voicemail. To my surprise the owner Chris answered the phone! Though not expected on a Sunday, people that actually answer the phone is a rarity. Chris went over my problem and asked me to send pictures and led me through making sure all shutoff valves were turned off and he had one of this techs out the very next day, that was professional and friendly fixed the broken pvc pipe and winterized the system. I will be continuing my yearly maintenance and backflow checks with this company and recommend you do the same. Thank you Chris! And thank you to the tech that came out.

Saunseri: I had been considering having a underground system installed for almost 10 years but decided to bite the bullet and have one installed when I moved into my new home. I have only tested the system since I am in the process of killing the weeds that have infested the lawn. I am positive the system will help my lawn look beautiful next year. I have been communicating with Chris on and off and initially, I will admit, I wasn't sure of the business style. A few guys at work used him and it seemed the negotiation experience was much different for them so I did not pursue the work at that time. I did this year and was more assertive and found him to be fair and once you get on the radar, attentive. He squeezed me in which was great as I am trying to get my project list complete so I can relax. He explained the details to me and did the work when I wasn't at home mostly so little interruption. The cable line was cut and not sure who is at fault but I would recommend, even if the contract puts the responsibility with him, you call 411 yourself to ensure the lines are marked before the work begins. Due to scheduling with Comcast, I had 3 days with no services (phone, WI-FI and cable). Again, they do not believe they hit it but Comcast said someone did. TODD EBERLEIN: Left feedback through the survey they sent me but I’ll annotate it here as well.First time ever using the company and now that the season is over I have mixed results.Spring startup happened and backflow tested per scheduled visit. I wasn’t present but could see the 2 techs on my cameras I have. No sprinkler heads were adjusted as I had to adjust some that were erroneously spraying where they shouldn’t. Minor quirk but that was an after the fact and should have been covered. Techs were only there maybe 15 to 20 minutes tops.The downfall for this review will be the winterization side. Oct 27th was my date for service and the tech came out and I was home. Never used the controller in the garage as they used the manual feature on the valves. I have 6 zones with one being a drip zone. Tech never got to this valve and I actually had to blow out a significant amount of water from this zone myself.Biggest turnoff about this company after using them for this year of service is the fact startup cost me about $225 and my winterization cost $108 total.For almost $350 dollars I should get complete service not partial.Takeaway is the techs seemed rushed and the volume of work is high and overtasked as to not be able to provide proper service.Will give another shot but expect better service for what I’m dishing out dollar wise.Service:Irrigation system repair maintenance

Michael Robertson: I have been using Custom Touch for years (between 10-15) The last two to three years, service has taken a dramatic nosedive. This year my sprinkler system was not started until mid-June!!!! Everyone else in the neighborhood was using theirs as the grass started turning yellow. When they finally turned it on, a head was broken right from the get go. They would not come back to repair it for over a month. On the day of repair someone “called in sick” and they canceled. This is the second (maybe third) time they have done this last couple years. It has become typical as others have mentioned in their reviews also.I am going to look elsewhere as I hope someone else is not too busy. I assume it will be good for both of us because it appears they have too many clients to serve with what/who they have. And I just want to have sprinklers that get turned on and off at normal times, and heads that can get repaired if needed

Zachary Kraay: This might be one of the worst companies I've ever dealt with. I've been using them for 2-3 seasons now to turn and off and will most likely be looking for a new company. I've given them extra chances too many times. They constantly miss appointments, reschedule them for 3-5 weeks out (sometimes miss those) and communicate horribly. I have an issue with water pooling up that I called about a week and they said ok we'll be out next week since it might be an issue with something they repaired. They called at 430 on 6/23 after I've moved my schedule around to make sure I'm available to let me know they cant come out then but they will see me in 3 weeks to take a look. I've been trying to call them for two days and it says the line is busy every time.STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AS POSSIBLE if you want a reliable company. A few of my friends told me this as well but at first I had a good initial experience with them. They've gotten worse every year since then. Jeff Labanauskas: Barthuly has been awesome from start to finish with our irrigation system. While other irrigation companies were fully booked for the year, we called Barthuly who told us they were still taking jobs and we’re about 3.5 months out. OB, one of their sales guys, came out in early July to take measurements and draw up our system design/quote. He was very prompt in getting us the diagram and quote the same day and was very helpful in explaining the design and answering any and all questions. Once we decided to move forward, they got us in line for install for a target of mid-October but advised it could possibly be moved up due to shuffling around of commercial jobs. Sure enough, they reached out late August and said they could do it the following week. Brett, the operations manager, came out within a couple days and marked the yard with flags for where each sprinkler head would be installed. On installation day, the foreman Benny and his crew were very friendly and were careful as they dug and trenched the yard for the install. They were even nice enough to install a riser I purchased for our water meter pit since it sat below grade. They knocked out the install in under 2 days. Less than a week later, the yard is recovering nicely and any signs from the digging are starting to fade as the lawn is growing in healthy and strong. Within the first week, Brett came back out to give a thorough walkthrough of the system and control box as well as to ensure that it was functioning properly without issue. We are very impressed with Barthuly and their professionalism. They are quick to respond, provide great service and do a quality job on their installs. Before we called them, a neighbor told us they were the best and I certainly agree.

Terry O: Purchased a home where the previous owner was in contract with Barthuly for lawn care and winterization. The company completed the winterization however left water in the return backflow line which ultimately broke the line (not completely blown out). I attempted to call, email them upon the advice of our water districts recommendation for the annual backflow testing and they initially were pressuring to try to get into contract with them before they would even schedule to come test for the backflow. I called and emailed several times and could not get on the calendar but was met with possible contract talk. I asked about the valve location and was again diverted to - you guessed it- contract and more “ we will email you when we can schedule you”. Glenn Thomas: I just wanted say I have not regret using Barthuly’s irrigation system. From the time I made my deposit until BI stated was about two months. Which was about the time line I had been told. The workers did a great job laying out the irritation system. Adam came my a week later and looked everything over. I did notice two of the sprinklers was not covering part of a small incline. Few weeks later Daniel can out and replaced one of my sprinkler heads. He replaced two of my sprinkler heads that would cover more of the area. It works great now. He did explain the controller some questions I had on the controller. Very nice young man. BI came out in April and did the spring maintenance done. I’m not sure what happen but , not sure of the name, I was given an insulated jacket to cover the back flow jacket I believe for winter. Andrew Hostrawser: We had a prepaid service agreement with Barthuly Irrigation, which includes winterization of our system. Barthuly did not perform this service in a timely fashion and that led to the broken backflow valve. Winterization has always been performed on a regular schedule, and we had some construction ongoing during that time, but we were never informed that we had to reschedule the service. We were told that Barthuly would be back out in a couple of weeks and thought the service had been performed. We were charged for the broken backflow vavle and challenged the charge. After 9 weeks with no response, we received a late payment bill. After reaching out again, we still have not received a response. Once i learned who was doing/did the work i have tried to reach out many times. They’re completely unresponsive, uncommunicative and downright rude. Every time I have interacted with anyone from the company when they actually do respond has been less than helpful - unbeknownst to me, I had 2 years of service included - would have been nice to know before I hired someone else… seriously?!? Karyssa Siegel: I initially left a 1 start review because when I called to set up service with Barthuly I was told they were not taking on new customers even though they had serviced the property we bought for years and installed the system originally. I completely understand not taking on new customers to install sprinklers but was extremely frustrated they would not service a property that they had serviced for years just because the original family moved away. Upon leaving my initial review the owner of the company contacted me within an hour of the review to try to make things right. I highly respect a company especially an owner who takes the time to read all their reviews and personally reaches out to potential customers to try to make things right. We am excited to see the work that Barthuly does when they come out to service us for winter as they were highly recommended.

Patrick Jonte: This is the second year in a row I've had to take special measures to protect the back-flow preventor on my irrigation system from freezing because of they're decision to activate it before seasonal freezing potential. Instead of designing a system that is resistant to freezing conditions Barthuly has elected to require the home owner to purchase a separate add-on,, "Back-Flow Buddy" to protect the sysem from freezing. Its not like they don't have access to seasonal data to reliably predict seasonal conditions, really?? for a $3000 system you'd think they'd provide it as part of the system, why not???
michael Leist: Spoke with OB around irrigation system installation. OB informed me that since i was on the south side that i would not be able to get the installation as quickly as I was hoping due to how busy they were. That was not a problem. I appreciated the honesty. OB then went on to recommend another top company that is located on the south side that could better assist me in a timely manner. He provided me great insight into what to look for in a good company and what to look for in materials, cost, and questions to ask. I was very happy with OB. He went above and beyond to provide me great insights about the process.
Gerald Stanley: Barthuly Irrigation installed our irrigation system several years ago. Most companies cut corners on the materials, but Barthuly uses the best systems and materials. Our system has not had a single problem. Seconldy, their customer service is second to none. Every year they are consistent to take care of our system and make sure the sprinkler heads are not broken and to certify the back flow for the city. I recommended Barthuly to many neighbors and friends and they would give a similar review!
