Indianapolis may be the ‘racing capital of the world’, but it is also a great place to learn the art of floral design! At the Indianapolis School of Flower Design, founded by celebrity florist, Michael Gaffney, their students learn a large variety of different design techniques during the intensive course. The instructors at the Indianapolis School of Flower Design has been training students in the art of flower design for many years. Their former students are involved in all areas of floral design after graduating and the school’s methods of design take beginners to pro. While taking classes, there is plenty for our students to do. Indianapolis is ranked as one of the best downtowns in the United States citing “more than 200 retail shops, more than 35 hotels, nearly 300 restaurants and food options, movie theaters, sports venues, museums, art galleries and parks” as attractions.
The Indianapolis School of Flower Design is located inside a floral wholesaler that provides thousands of gorgeous flower stems every semester for the students to use to create beautiful floral designs. A gorgeous mix of fresh flower and green materials are provided to the students during each day’s class (all materials are included with the tuition cost). Classes include live demonstrations, a tour of the wholesale house with instruction on how to buy wholesale and, best of all, hands on practice design.

Being in class and having that one-on-one access to an instructor is important to learning good design habits and techniques.”

I ordered flowers before from 1800 flowers and the day of my daughters birthday ( when they were supposed to be delivered)they informed me they could not deliver them until a day after! Mark Petrison: If you're just trying to get some pretty flowers as a gift, you'd save money by buying the flowers themselves elsewhere; then taking care of elementary stem cutting yourself, as well as any common sense arrangement, glassware, and delivery.But if you'd rather not do some of those things, or don't mind spending a little extra, or would rather let a practiced professional do a somewhat better job than you likely would; then this place seems more than fine to me.

They had mentioned they were working on freshening up the flowers from the weekend but I could pick any that were available or choose an arrangement and come back later that day. I wanted them at the moment so chose the ones that I liked the best. When I got to the register the associate noticed right away that a few were not up to their excellent standards so she immediately told me she was going to take them back and switch a few flowers out to make sure the arrangement was fresh. They wrapped them up perfectly and I was so happy with what I left with! My boss loved the flowers and I so appreciate the time and care this staff took to make my last minute arrangement such a great experience! Will come back and refer friends to this location.

Chelsea Hutchison: While a bit pricey, this shop is well worth a visit. No other shop except maybe Allisonville Nursery really knows how to decorate like McNamara. Decorations for home and garden cover every inch of the walls, every scrap of surface space, and even hang from the ceiling. There are multiple areas for different aesthetics. I have picked up a couple of my favorite Christmas decor pieces here and love stopping by on my way to/from the Trader Joe’s which shares a parking lot.

Brandon Eisele: Bravo! From the call, all the way to delivery. Had a delightful conversation with an employee who took my difficult order and was able to make a beautiful bouquet of flowers and have them delivered the same day. The delivery driver was also amazing. I gave two addresses to drop flowers off and she called me to see which would work best and she went out of her way just to try the option that I thought was too late. Because of that, my wife and I were surprised, and it made it more special than a door delivery. Now that is service! Great first experience and I will continue to pick Shadeland!

Tracy Berling: Will NEVER use this business and will advise other not to use as well. As I have ordered k line flower delivery numerous times took my daughter to to order boutonnière for prom. Door was locked during business hours. Lady who took order for my daughter’s boutonnière was incredible rude. She rushed my daughter who had never ordered a boutonnière before through the process. The wrap was not the correct color and there was not a pin included. Boutonnière was $16 and pins purchased elsewhere was $5 a little pricey for one flower.

Shadeland Florist came up and I remembered my husband ordered me the most beautiful roses from there. So we ordered. I of course did not know what to do for my friend and her family. It’s so amazing to know that the florist felt the pain of the family and demonstrated her sympathy so well that when words cannot fully express her condolences, the flowers state a million words. I call as I'm looking for Christmas flowers with my 82 year old grandmother. I tell the woman she abruptly says "we don't have any of that."I reply "ok maybe she can find something else she wants."Store clerk "I got robbed 3 weeks ago. I'm here alone and I'm not letting anyone in."Now let me be clear I am not downplaying anyone's potential trauma but as a business owner this was handled poorly.First if that's how you feel just keep your shop closed. If you still need to work then the sign should read "pre orders only".And I can't say standing out in the cold with my 82 year old grandmother did not make me happy as she was upset as well.I do hope healing and a safe feeling is found but also that some best business practices are enacted.

Ioanna Hawkins: During our recent loss the whole familyVisited McNamara and order flowers together and a few others ordered flowers via their website on line that was provided to them by other relatives. To our astonishment the flowers delivered were not what appeared to be same size or quantity as on line . Also one employee in greenwood store when asked to add a bow or a pick in the bold spot of the flower basket (value $160) told us that if we wanted something to fill the bold spot we would have to pay extra for it . That’s after all relatives who ordered flowers to be delivered at the funeral arrangement each paid a delivery fee separately while the orders arrived together. The relatives who ordered via phone were shocked to see the size and selection of flowers for the amount of money they paid. One vase looked more like a kitchen table arrangement rather a funeral One .Overall not a good value for money and customer service below par .

Barbara Litchford: on Monday for delivery on Tuesday. Flowers weren't delivered on Tuesday and order was canceled on Wednesday due to "no florist in the area". I googled florists near 46217 and called the first florist to pop up in my search -- they didn't answer and the call went to voice mail. So...I called McNamara Florists and I am SO glad I did. The young lady who answered was delightful to work with. I told her what I was looking for and how much I wanted to spend. Boy oh boy...did you guys EVER come through!!! The recipient loves them and my contact said that they were even prettier in person (I received a text photo since I am in Seattle
dumwalke: My wife purchased an arrangement to go in my daughters hair. First off it was way overpriced and second the arrangement wasn’t at all what we wanted. My wife spoke to them about it. Management ignored her, rolled their eyes and refused to even come up and talk to her about it. One saleswoman was finally accommodating (thank you) but management and others were not. This isn’t the fist time management has been extremely rude to others in our family. For a company that’s already way overpriced, this is a recipe for disaster when there are many other options with much much better customer service. Needless to say no one in my family will be back. Stay away if if value good customer service.

Jack & Kristin Foth: 2 Stars because the flowers were nice but the delivery service was TERRIBLE. First, they delivered on the wrong day (a day early), so the delivery guy showed up while I wasn’t home. He waited (I’m not sure how long) in my driveway until I got home. His car wasn’t marked with any signage so I had no idea who he was. I’ve never seen a delivery person pull into the driveway — they usually park in the street — so I couldn’t get in my garage. I was a little unnerved not knowing who this person was, so I waited in the street for him to leave. After a couple minutes, I get a phone call from a strange number (the delivery guy) and his literal response when I picked up the phone was “Hey, where are you?” No mention of his name, what company he was with, or anything. At this point, I’m extremely nervous. So I have to ask who he is, what he wants and who the delivery was for. The whole experience was unprofessional and unnerving. When my husband called to describe our experience, they didn’t seem to concerned, just a half-hearted “Sorry” and started asking “Well did your wife at least like the flowers?” No offer of a partial refund, no credit on a future order, nothing. (This is coming off another experience where McNamara said they could custom order plumerias, and when my husband went to pick them up, they were wilted.) Needless to say, I told my husband to never again order flowers from McNamara!

When I asked to set up a bridal appointment she started to ask me why I would want to do that when my wedding was 7 months away... I have since gone to another florist booked and paid for all my wedding flowers and table decor. I was told by that florist that I was very smart to order when I did since typically they like to only book so many weddings within a certain timeframe. I was told the manager would call me and set up an appointment. I was never called. Will never use them for anything after being treated the way I was. Would not recommend them to anyone and will not be using them for all the floral needs in the future.

It was absolutely exquisite! The florist added a plastic liner, so I was able to water it without any worry of leakage on our dining room table. The arrangement was so beautiful, and literally lasted a MONTH (except for the carnations). I highly recommend this wonderful florist; we visited the Glendale location.
