Indiana University School of Dentistry: what do users think?
Kathy Albright: Rebecca Dental Hygienist on second floor gave me the best cleaning I've ever had.
Christopher Pilotte: I have been trying to get an appointment for a cavity for the last year plus . EVERYTIME I would go after having to Waite weeks for an appointment the student would tell me that I had to have X-rays and other things like measuring my gums before I could get my cavity fixed . Then the student would Waite to call me , the same day of my appt and tell me he had a flat tire and so I would have to Waite another few weeks for an appt. Then I was told that I had to Waite till he completed all his tests before I could have an appt . I am a retired vet with no dental insurance and advised that EVERYTIME I had an appt . I finally received a call from the student to set n appt in which I was going through some medical issues that had to be resolved first . From that point in I have left several message for the student to call me with no response . I asked for the head Dentist teacher to call me over a week ago and he still or the student have not responded and the lady that answered the phone for appts was rude and acted like I was disturbing her . Is this the way they should be acting I don’t think so and the real sad part about it is my daughter graduated as a dental hygienist from that school and we won’t go into the cost of the school this is another issue that will be addressed at another date . So I’m left with a tooth killing me and having to spend thousands getting work done .Not impressed and sad .
Kylie Lockett: I’ve been coming to the dental school for years. If you don’t have insurance, it’s a great way to get dental care at a fraction of the cost it would be to have your dental care provided by private practice. You can tell that the doctors and students have a passion for what they do and that is invigorating to be around. Of course, that can depend on which student you are with. It’s on the IUPUI campus. If you park in the garage across the street from the dental school, they will give you a ticket to validate your parking so you don’t have to pay for it. The busiest time to come is in the morning and right after lunch because the students are taking their patients in. I have brought my daughter in to the pediatric dental care in I would not recommend that part of the dental school for my child so we take her to private practice. But for adults, it’s a great option if you have the time for the 2.5 hour appointment and need to save money on dental procedures.
L Scott: I'm really pleased my inner voice told me to make an appointment here.EVERYONE I've interacted with has been courteous and kind. The actual services received are quick, easy and virtually painless.I think I am receiving some of the best modern treatments available. As well as being seen by the next and newest generation of dental professionals with fresh eyes and skills.I will stay a patient for my duration.
Mark Petrison: The students here are going to perform most procedures here, and mostly on their own. Students do seem to have very good attitudes, and are very concerned about minimizing unnecessary pain.On the other hand, they are still learning their craft. Then again, they can also call in much more experienced dentists and oral surgeons as needed; which might not be true with graduated professionals working independently, who could still have holes in their expertise and resources. And while maybe "you," as a patient, might serve as a bit of a lab rat in SOME respects; *hopefully* you'll help the students in their training; and in my guesstimation, likely receive a very good deal in any pricing costs.
chill. daisy: Non answer phone
roger keller: My Daughter is autistic an they understand. They don’t force but try to soothe her needs.Very professional.
luisana saade: Excelente atención. Las instalaciones muy adecuadas, todo estaba muy limpio. El personal muy amable y servicial en todo momento.
Travis Byrd: They scheduled me an appointment to get wisdom teeth removed no one could get xrayz. I'm not sure whats even going on it feels like once you walk out of that building no one has any idea what's going on from the outside 🤔.
Chondra Hatton: The front desk is AMAZING, as are the student and Amelia was more than helpful. I will say I wanted an appt for an extraction, I even called before to make sure. I knew my dentist (Dr. Polido) wanted to try to save my tooth from my previous appt. She was almost rude about it, it felt like it was more about money, due to the fact it’s a tooth in the very back, and I’ve never even had a cavity. I just knew I wanted it pulled. I thought, maybe she was having a bad day. I come into my appt and she told me to go to the referral she gave me to get it pulled bc she doesn’t so extractions. If I knew that to be true in the first place, I wouldn’t have left my busy clinic to come here. She was dismissive and rude when she told me the news. Thank god Amelia worked to get me into an emergency appt with the resident. McKinnley was great. I appreciate all her time, as well as the front desk. But doc’s bedside manner needs A LOT of work. She’s dismissive and comes off like she’s more aboutMoney than anything
Trisha Mitchell: Today I had an exam with Kevin. He was very personable, explained everything throughly and I left feeling confident in his ability to treat my problems. The wait is a little longer than a normal dentist but I didn’t mind considering how comfortable I felt and getting the work for a discounted rate!
Aaron Judd: I've been here multiple times over the years. Most of the staff is nice, but the students are terrible (even the residents). I had a student cause me severe pain and lie to my face! And the majority of their dental instructors are not good (except two.) Now no one is at the school for insurance and billing. (They're working remotely.) It took MANY phone calls to get my treatment submitted to insurance and billed correctly. (One said they take my insurance, another [after treatment] said they didn't!) It's just not worth the aggravation!
Shijirtuya Munkhbat: Flexible Payment Plan vs. Long wait, Slow, and Lower-QualityI got root canal treatment done for two teeth and crown for one. Appointments took about twice longer than usual appointments in other places (added visits as well) because students are slower and have to wait for their professors to check their work. The worst part was that I had to go to somewhere else to get re-treatment for the root canal they did. It costed me $2,000 ($600 after insurance) to fix the work they did.On the other hand, they offer flexible payment plan that is attractive in time of need.
Denise Bautista: After four years **yes count them four** and two set of implants they finally got it right at IU School of Dentistry. My Problem is that every step is supposed to be watched over by professors. The professors watched them make time costing error after error. I made countless appointments that were not easy for me being disabled. Getting credit for all of the errors was not an easy task either, and I don't feel I was fully compensated. They compensated for materials and labor, but not for the over one hundred hours spent getting my teeth what still is not perfect, but acceptable. You get what you pay for.
Charles Henke: I received excellent care.
Kelly Dawn Jones: Great experience! Great students! Best prices!
Ira Barger: Very thorough first consultation.
Binta Yani Abdourahamane: Rebecca Cook is very knowledgeable, nice, respectful....I have been with her for I think now two years and have been always happy
Lewis Whitson: They did a great job and I will return for more work.
Tiffany Blackmon: Good service 👍.
Jukima Cummings: The ladies and the orthodontic Dr has always been polite, friendly and professional, never really had a long wait time with my daughter
