Debra Stong: It's not easy finding a great Mediterranean restaurant, but look no further! This is it. Though the grape leaves for the dalmatis were a little tough, the atmosphere and hospitality reminded me of my visits to Greece and Cyprus in the Mediterranean!And the cocktails are worth there weight in gold. No shortcuts there. And it seemed so fitting after we had just visited Holliday Park with their ancient Greek looking monuments! Couldn't have capt the day off any better than at Canal Bistro!

Mark Boyd: Absolutely wonderful experience. Service, food, décor, location, everything just incredible.At one point during our meal a person was lead back to a table. He looked slightly "disheveled". I think the owner checked in on him, 1 or 2 from the back of the house, etc...he left after eating. It appears that the staff, owner, etc...feeds the young man. I think he is homeless. The humanity shown by the people who work there was awe-inspiring.When I left I asked if they had fed a homeless person, the hostess replied affirmingly. I offered to cover his expenses, she wouldn't take it. I offered a donation. She said she would take it & give it to him directly.Parking: Actually has a parking lot. Nice for Broad Ripple.

Clint Collins: This was our first visit to the Canal Bistro and it was worth the trip. Not only do you get a nice view of the canal, but the food is outstanding. I definitely recommend appetizers like hummus and lentil soup, but best of all was the grilled portobello mushroom, which was extremely tasty and perhaps the best I ever had. Everyone at the table enjoyed their entrees which ranged from the tilapia to chicken kabob to beef shawarma. I had the moussaka and it was certainly delicious. To experience classic Middle Eastern and Greek dishes, the Canal Bistro should be your destination.

J C: The food was ok. We asked for extra spicy and it came out a bit bland. Eventually, I found a bottle of Cholula which helped to add a tiny bit of heat but really not an appropriate condiment for a falafel sandwich.Beyond the taste, the dining room was a bit tired. Maybe ok for a quick bite at lunch but not a reasonable environment for a diner with the wife. :(

Michael Paul: The dinners we had were very delicious. There were several people in the restaurant at the time and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Besides the great Gyro sandwiches and very sweet and tasty desserts, the hospitality of the staff couldnt be beat anywhere. The two we met made us feel welcome. Highly recommended to give it a try. The owners super kind and friendly. There aren't many places I'd recommend wholeheartedly to all of my friends and family as well as unsuspecting bystanders, but this is one of them.

This was our first time trying this place and I had lots of questions that were answered thoroughly and with patience. Marian Longo: Come here often; Love the food usually. But today was just a horrible customer service experience all around. Got my usual Greek salad with grilled chicken for lunch. But it was all the yellow stalk and no actual fresh romaine. That’s the part that should be thrown away, not served. Chicken portion was also smaller than usual. Not worth the $18 I pay everyday. Keep in mind this is my main meal of the day for the past week as I’m dieting.Let’s get to the staff attitude problem. I come up to the counter to order and the woman is beyond rude. I believe she’s a manager since she was doing a refund/rering. Rude demeanor, rude elevated voice, and doing everything with extra flair to illustrate her bad mood. Then once my salad is up, she throws the tzatziki sauce in there like it’s a bouncy ball out of pure anger of life. Luckily it didn’t open. I never said anything rude or anything the whole time. But it was extremely off putting. When I went outside, I took another waitress aside and told her how rude the other woman was, only for the rude woman to come outside as if to see what was being said. Crazy.Also, employees need to be drug tested. Three-four times a day employees run outside with cash to random different vehicles everyday and come back with items that obviously fit in their pocket as they have nothing in their arms. Just shady all around here. Love the owner since he’s a fellow Chicagoan, but man, this place needs a staff overhaul.

A: I stumbled in here just wanting a gyro.This is definitely the place to go if you want a good gyro done traditionally. I opted for the spicy option. Not too spicy but added such a perfect touch of mildness to play with the taste buds before being cooled down by the perfectly balanced sauce. The fries weren’t too salty and everything was obviously fresh.The environment was absolutely kind and everyone here had a wonderful smile on their face. Such a great environment. I really can’t say enough good things about this place.This is one of those small places you don’t want to miss out on!

Alicia Smith: This was my first time dining in. I've had their food delivered a couple times and it was always yummy so I was confident that it would be amazing in store. I really like the vibe they set in there. We ordered apps but they brought every thing out at the same time with the exception of the salad that came with the meal. We split the Gyro platter with was more than enough for two. We also ordered the Greek fries and two spanakopitas. Just as I hoped everything was hot and tasty. My only criticism is that I live there to be a little more texture around the edges of my gyro meat. I will be returning!

Went back yesterday and it took a while to get order but everything was delicious and friendly service! Keep it up!Read reviews about the place and decided to try out since it’s not far. Food is amazing (we tried gyros, philly and wings), place is small but clean and staff is super friendly! We went back a week later because they had no baklava and it was worth the trip. Yummy!!!

adrienne a: The food is good but it’s definitely changed since the last time I was here. I’ve always gotten the Philly steak and cheese sandwich and it’s usually a good amount. Today when I went the first thing I noticed was how light the box was. I opened it and saw the sandwich looked child size. It tasted ok but not quite the same. I wonder if the change is because of cost. Either way I’ll go back again because I’ve been supporting them since 1999.

And sometimes they have black and white cookies which we really miss (originally from East Coast where these cookies are easy to get.)
