Tony Burton - Guitar lessons, Guitar instruction, Beginner guitar lessons: what do users think?
Wes Jordan: Tony is awesome. Clean and well equipped studio. He's fun and he's brought me a long way in my playing ability in such a short time. He's also super motivational and supportive. I've come further along in understanding and playing the guitar in less than 3 months with Tony than I have in 10 years of watching youtube videos. Without a great coach like Tony it has always been hard for me to stay motivated. Tony's motivational enthusiasm is top notch, I cant say how impressed I am with his instructions and influence. Also a great location 3 minutes from my house, easy to get in and out, he works with you on scheduling your lessons.
Fawken: I've been getting lessons from Tony for about 4/5 months now, I was completely new. He has such a personal approach to teaching me, he created a personalized schedule centered around what music I am passionate about, which makes me more than happy to practice daily and every week I amaze myself with how much better I get. I've found a new passion and I don't believe I would have found it with any other teacher!
Mostly Moseley: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueTony has been so patient and open during my time taking lessons. As a beginner I was nervous about what to expect and he made me comfortable from the moment i had my first lesson. Highly recommend!
Will Foran: Have been working with Tony for a couple months and he’s been great in helping me achieve my goals and customizing a plan for our time together.Edit - after a few more months - still very happy with Tony and the progress. He does a great job customizing his approach and lessons to my interests and helping me build a strong foundation as a musician.
Joseph Scheidler: Tony is an AMAZING instructor. I have taken guitar lessons from many teachers over the years, but NONE has had the impact of Tony. I enjoy practicing, I want to go to lessons each week....he has a style and methodology unlike anything I’ve experienced. Using songs rather than books, he teaches you skills and music in a way that’s fun and effective. He’s spoiled me, I wouldn’t consider going to any other teacher.
Marco A. Cutchin: My 11-year old son just started taking lessons from Tony and he's never been so excited to learn a new instrument. Tony does a great job and motivates him to improve week after week.
Audrey Bengert: Fun to work with, and really gets you playing along to your favorite songs quickly, even as a beginner.
Eileen Cote: Tony is a great guitar teacher. I love his song choices. Makes learning fun.
John OKeefe: Tony is the best! Look forward to our lesson every week!
12philanthropist: I cannot say enough great things about Tony!He is an amazing teacher, musician, and person!!! I highly recommend him!!!I have been taking lessons for several years.I always leave my lesson feeling awesome!
Sarah Presley: Tony goes beyond guitar lessons, and has become a mentor of mine over the time I've been learning guitar. He has worked on my confidence as a musician, and helps me write my own music. He is inspiring, helpful, and patient with beginners. Overall, I cannot recommend another guitar instructor more than him.
Kevin Howard: Great instructor who masterfully tailors the lesson to your tastes, goals, and level. A great balance of the challenge of progress and fun of accomplishment
Katy Ferdinand: My son Casey met Tony at Bongo Boy Music School about 2 years ago. When Tony decided to open his own business my son did not hesitate to go with him. Casey does not get along with many people but somehow he gets along just fine with Tony. Great personality and excellent musician.
Dan Esposito: At 64 years old, and after a 40 year layoff, I decided to once again attempt to play guitar. Now, 2 years later at age 66, I am playing both acoustic and electric guitar, and enjoying the heck out of it.Tony's warm, supportive, and professional approach, have made the journey fun, but more importantly - fulfilling. He is an accomplished pro who makes the novice feel at home while working and playing with other professionals to improve their craft. We are never to old to learn and grow, and Tony makes it come alive.
Dave Ripley: Tony is an amazing instructor, and an even better guy! He is great about keeping our lessons fun and challenging. Tony is also a family man, and is understanding about my scheduling needs when necessary. I cannot give a higher recommendation, only because 5 is the highest.

Stacie neathery: We're so happy we chose Indianapolis Music Academy for our daughter! It was so hard finding a left-handed guitar for our little lefty that we were afraid finding an instructor would be another challenge. Thank goodness we found you! JK Guitar: what do users think?
Jeff Preston: James is a wonderful teacher and great dude to boot. I’m a middle-aged guy who used to play acoustic (before kids), and wanted to get back into it and improve my skills that had plateaued for a decade. He was able to quickly figure out where I was and how to make me better. Effective listener, patient, and encouraging. Couldn’t recommend him more highly.Jeff P.indianapolis, IN
Mike Rettig: I enrolled my grandson in the group session with James. He is is having a great time learning new songs with kids that are similar in age.
Mark Williams: James is a gifted musician and a brilliant educator - a real professional. I appreciate his wit, kindness, enduring support and patience with my process. Oh yes! there is a process! You won't end up going around in circles. James will craft a guitar education plan to line up with your current skill level and your goals. He is a font of helpful and creative details that can make a significant difference in your playing.
Lucas Schaller: Love going to JK Guitar. I've been taking lessons here for a little over a year now. He's a great teacher and an absolute wizard on the guitar. 10/10 recommend for any player.
Marlon Cabrera: James is a fantastic guitar teacher and player. I haven’t been playing for very long myself personally but he really took my playing to the next level to the point where it seems like I’ve been playing for years. Very detailed and cares about his students. If you are looking for guitar lessons look no further than James.
Camila Pejnovic: James is extremely talented, an amazing teacher and my classes are always so much fun. I can’t wait to have my kids learning to play guitar with him. He’s the best, super sweet and easy going. I super recommend!
Valorie Werner: Great guitar teacher for all skill level. James listens and communicates well, he works to understand what I’m hoping to learn and plans lessons accordingly. I’ve greatly enjoyed my lessons with James.
Shane Kallenberger: James is one hell of a guitar teacher. I go there for bass lessons and my playing has improved drastically just with a few lessons. He is knowledgeable on all types of music and can teach anything you want to know. I would 100% recommend him as an instructor.
John Kreuzman: I never played guitar in my life. I take 30min lessons every 2 weeks from James starting at age 57. I’ve missed some lessons in a 2 year span due to some unforeseen circumstances, but I have learned a lot from James in such a short time.I’ve enjoyed learning from James as he is patient and knows how to tailor lessons meant for the individual student. There is so much to learn about playing the guitar - more than I ever imagined and I have great respect to those like James that make it look easy.I couldn’t play a note when I began, but now playing a few tunes slowly but surely! Playing guitar well takes time, but I know by learning from James, I’ll get there.I would highly recommend anyone at any age and level to give James a call and begin learning the gift of music.
B G: James is a great teacher. He’s knowledgeable, patient and ready to challenge my music understanding.
D J McCallister: James is an excellent instructor and has done an amazing job keeping our son engaged and excited about learning to play guitar. He is talented and friendly and our family recommends him to any parent we speak with who is interested in their child learning guitar or bass. 5 emphatic stars!
Jess LaPradd: James is funny and positive every day!!
Nick Daily: James is fantastic! I consider myself an intermediate player, and in a short time he's developed a plan for me to reach that next level. He is kind, patient, and easy to work with. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a guitar teacher!
Jude Brown: Amazing and versatile musician who is an easy-going effective and compassionate teacher. Worth the time and money all the way!
Craig Cazares: I’ve had an amazing time learning the guitar at JK Guitar. James is an amazing instructor and very friendly! I would definitely recommend this to any would be guitarist out there, regardless of skill. Will not be disappointed!
Addison Hoffman: Positive:Communication,Quality,ValueJames is great! He makes you feel like a natural even when you’re a newbie and have no idea what you’re doing!
Rob Hawks: Although I've only been taking lessons with James a short time, I can tell you that he is very well suited to his profession. He teaches adults and children, and is very patient and supportive of both. Given his background as an engineer, with an engineer's mind, it's seemingly easy for him to hear a song, break it down, figure out the chords, and then show you how to play it. Usually within the span of a single lesson (depending on the songs completely, of course). He has played in bands, in both the U.S. and overseas, which is impressive in itself. All of this gives him the experience and perspective of a true professional musician. I would recommend his lessons to anyone, young or old(er)."Peace through music"
Bill Eckhart: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityJames is a phenomenal teacher. He knows the ins and outs of guitar at every level and is able to communicate it to you no matter your level of experience. Plus he has a killer accent.
Eric Learned: James is an amazing and versatile guitar player. All guitar teachers are great players, but James is also a great teacher. I picked up a guitar for the first time a few years ago, but didn't stick with lessons long. I decided to try lessons again, and I lucked in to signing up with James. He makes it fun, plus he's patient with older, slow learners like myself.
Zach Rutledge: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,Value

Aletia Brown: We love Fishers Guitar! Our 9 year old son has taken guitar lessons for over three years and is still enjoying each lesson. We've even recently added some ukelele sessions. Music Instruction with Zorba: what do users think?
Megan Hackman: My 7 year-old son has been taking guitar lessons with Zorba Rose for the past year and really loves it. He previously had lessons at another institute and did not particularly enjoy it. I really wanted him to learn an instrument so we decided to start lessons with Zorba. I have seen such an improvement in his confidence and excitement to learn to play the instrument since his first lesson. My son really gets excited when we receive emails with YouTube links from Zorba reminding him to practice. With these videos, he's also able to play along with his instructor during the week and he thinks it's the coolest thing!

T.O.L. STUDIOS: what do users think?
Cory Gibson: We love Doug! He is always so patient with our crazy schedule. He is always willing to give a pep talk and is a great teacher!
jana hennessy: I’ve been going to Doug for about 3 months now and I’ve been improving a ton! I’m confident he would be able to adapt to a bunch of different learning styles. He lets you choose whatever music you want to learn and studies it even when you’re no there to make sure he knows what he is talking about. Going into my first lesson I was nervous as I had barely played guitar and had never gone to a music lesson, but looking back I had no reason to be worried! Doug has been extremely kind and patient with me as I’ve been improving. I highly recommend!
Stacy Krider: Doug has truly taken our daughter under his wing and it’s amazing what she has learned and accomplished in less than a years time ! His flexible schedules and price for each lesson are well worth it ! Highly recommend!
Tammy Caister: Both of my sons have taken lessons with Doug (guitar, piano, voice) over the past 4 years. Currently my youngest takes Voice. Doug has a great rapport with them and makes them feel very comfortable and confident in their progress. They really enjoy their lessons and music as a result. Doug has excellent skills and really cares about his students. Really glad we found T.O.L. Studios!!
LaToya Lanham: Our son is taking piano lessons with Mr. Doug. He has been amazing with not only the piano lessons. Our son has learned some life lessons as well. He listens as well as giving instruction. I am so please that I am going to starting guitar lessons soon.
Elizabeth Abbott: He is an amazing music teacher. He is very knowledgeable and caring. He makes my very anxious son calm during the lessons. 10/10 👏
Charles Hall: TOL STUDIOS is a great place to take lessons for many sorts of instruments from guitar, piano & drums etc. Teacher Doug Redmond is kind, considerate and very knowledgeable with the craft of music. All ages are welcomed, beginner or professional. I recommend.
Sarah Blanford: Doug has been exceptional at teaching my sons Piano and Guitar. He is able to relate to them individually so they are not only learning their instruments, but growing a passion for music. You don't get that at other music classes. You will see progress when you go to his classes. Doug is a wonderful teacher. He came highly recommended, and I highly recommend him.
Allen Adams: It is a pleasure working with a very talented teacher.
norm kaiser: Doug is fantastic. My son has been taking guitar (and now drum) lessons from Doug for over 2 years. Doug is humble, professional, and communicative. Sticks to the fundamentals as well as let's my son step out the box and learn songs that he likes and not just the songs in the lesson book. Highly recommend
Georgeanna Wright: Doug is such a wonderful teacher! My daughter needed him to be a mentor for her senior capstone project. I am so glad we found him! He was so understanding and accommodating with exactly what she wanted to accomplish. He was very patient and explained everything to her during the entire process. Doug genuinely cares for his students and with a lot of love for music. He has many years of experience and knowledge in teaching music, also very friendly, kind and professional. I highly recommend him for any level or age group in music training.
Shubham Jain: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueMr. Doug have been really great with my daughter. We just wanted to give a shot with our very young daughter and it has turned out that she is beginning to like the piano. This is what I like most about Mr. Doug, it’s not forced learning but learning based on fun and engagement. Highly recommend!!!
Josh Patterson: Very glad I found Doug. He is very nice and takes his time trying help me with anything I don't understand. I would definitely recommend him for your music needs
fallujahbleach: I've taken electric guitar lessons at T.O.L. Studios for 3 months now. I'm 51 years old and never played an instrument in my lifetime. Now, I can play first two positions of the C major scale & Am pentatonic scale. I can play 6 riffs & can play 7 songs (3 totally & 4 without solo).Doug understands the student's needs, and is able to adapt the lessons to support your goals. I always have fun at my lessons.
Heather Witsman: After I decided to take up playing the drums as middle aged female (inspired by Neil Peart of Rush fame ) my first thought was is this even something someone my age could do (i.e am I too old to start or learn music?) As someone who was totally new to music Doug has been a music teacher that explains complexMusic Concepts in an understandable way. While how fast you learn is really dependent on how often you practice Doug helps keep you accountable to your self and moves the lessons along at your pace. He’s patient with Beginners (kids and us Over the hill folks too) and knowledge enough toMove a beginner to an expert on multiple instruments as well as voice, song writing and music theory. Doug is flexible and accommodating and works with your schedule as much as possible he even does virtual lessons now thanks to Covid 🙂. If playing an instrument, singing or songwriting has been your dream Doug can help you achieve that dream. As his motto goes everyone starts somewhere, play your first note with Doug at TOL studios.
Isaac Capshaw: Father son duo for guitar lessons. Overall great experience. I appreciate the great communication via phone, text, and in person. Lessons are performed in a basement studio that is well set up. Instructor is prepared each week. The only constructive criticism I would mention is that due to it being a basement studio there is no waiting area for parents at the moment. From personal experience and observations if you are not the student you're either waiting in your vehicle or you leave and come back. That would be the one advantage to a store front based studio. However with that said I would not let that sway my decision from attending music lessons here.
Matt Solenberg: I’ve been doing lessons with Doug for the past several months. He has a recommended lesson plan but will change the lessons based on your interests and learning style. I spent a few months learning guitar, then switched to Piano. I’d like to do vocal lessons at some point as well. It’s nice that I can learn whatever I like with one teacher.Prices are very fair and Doug is great about working with your schedule. I’m learning a lot and definitely getting my money’s worth.
Luke G: Positive:Communication,ProfessionalismDoug is very talented teacher with an extensive music background that shows during lessons.
VanHelsing: Doug is a very caring and patient, talented instructor, he let's you learn at you own pace. It's fun to learn from a person who has a passion for music. Guitar, Drums, Piano. I'm in my late 50s beginner guitar so it's never to late to start. You can do lessons online or at his place. During the covid-19 he did everything online to keep everyone safe. Now that things are kinda getting back to normal he has masks and cleans and disinfect the lesson room after every student.
michael allen: Doug is a wonderful instructor/teacher! My daughter has been taking voice lessons for about a year now. It’s amazing how much she has improved in just one year. She has gained a lot of confidence and her stage presence has dramatically improved! This has been a great investment and wonderful experience for my daughter. I only wish we would have done it sooner. Even during the Covid pandemic and online lessons my daughter looks forward to her lesson each and every week.
Kevin Palmer: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueDoug is a very knowledgeable instructor who can adjust his methods for each student's needs. He is very patient and encouraging when teaching and explaining music. He will take the time to answer any questions you may have.
