Jennifer Wenning: I do not want to make a blanket comment about all PetSmart employees, but rather company policies - specifically for this location.I purchased a bearded dragon on January 24, 2023. For the (almost) one month our family took care of him he experienced seizures, lethargy, lack of appetite - all symptoms of ADV. When I went in for a second time to ask for help the manager just handed me some powder called “critical care” without having the courtesy to share instructions for use. The lack of sympathy was heartbreaking considering we struggled for a straight month to keep Milo alive. Rather, “the company has a two week return policy and there is nothing we can do”.Based on light research about bearded dragons, we believe that further testing needed to be done before placing this beardy in the tank with the two other bearded dragons that were at the location. If he did have this virus, it could have easily affected the other dragons in the tank.He was so sick and I cannot imagine what he was going through for one month. He must have been in so much pain - he was just a baby.This whole experience was gut wrenching and I am not sure I will allow myself to purchase from PetSmart again.

Hope Peyton: Absolutely horrible. A dog was dumped infront of my house and I took her up there up the lady at the back door literally told me to "go dump her somewhere else" I'm in utter shock. NO actual compassion for animals.

So I asked them if they had another cat they said yes its a female so i go to adopt it and it's a male cat.

Risque Cat: They would lie to you thinking your pets have been adopted. My 6 cats I had to surrender temporary , have been adopted the same day or the next day. Cats have been in there for weeks or months and mine are magickly adopted? No, I don't believe that. As healthy and up to date of their shot, have been euthanized.
Review Account: Might as well call this the Indianapolis circus because the people that work here are clowns. They're rude, incompetent, and lie about dogs, rules, and things they've said/haven't said.The city should shut this place down and put it's money into an animal shelter that actually works, like Hamilton County or even Johnson County.If you're looking to adopt a dog, all they have is aggressive pits and labs. If you've lost an animal and need to check if they ended up here, the staff will give you the run around, and if you have a report about an aggressive or nuisance animal, they'll do mental gymnastics to avoid doing anything with it.Go support local rescues or other county shelters before you ever give these clowns a dime.

sean johnson: Found puppy’s running in the road on my way through Indy and the police station told me to go there. I can’t have the puppy’s or I would have kept them super sweet pups. When we got there we filled out the paperwork and this blonde lady came out and started yelling being very rude and told us we should have left them on the highway. That they are going to die regardless. I had asked the lady to not yell at me that I was not yelling at her and the lady just got louder and told me to get tf out. I have adopted two dogs from this place and love them with all my hard but will never go back to that place.
Lawrence Darrah: Why does your website say to not call, but visit in person to verify if a found Cat is yours if you won't even let us see it in person? I found a cat online that looked similar to my missing cat, drove up there, and couldn't go back to see it. Associate just compared pictures, and said it's not my cat. I would really feel better to have seen the cat for myself, in person to verify, I mean isn't that the whole point of driving down there.

Georgia Johansen: We came here after losing our beautiful dog to cancer. We felt so lonely not having a dog around so why not adopt. We found Glenda(we renamed her Shiva) on the page and filled out the paperwork online. When we came in the employee was very patient with us and explained everything they knew about her which wasn't much she was a stray. We had to do a slow intro in the office with the employee. She finally warmed up at about 15 minutes. We fell in love. We couldn't take her home right away because she wasn't chipped and spayed and they didnt have the new schedule. We came to visit as much as we could, each time we came she was more and more confident. The employees (we have worked with so many!) Have all told us how much she is warming up each day. She gets so excited when she comes to the lobby and sees us! They never rush our visits with her. We are finally on the schedule for the vet and get to take her to her forever home this Thursday. The staff is amazing. This place is amazing. It was a little warmer out so they let us come out to one of the play areas to get her zoomies out. She was so happy!
Lauren Eckelkamp: Absolutely had the strangest interaction with this establishment today. We lost our family cat of twelve years a year ago and finally felt healed enough to welcome another feline into our family. Apparently despite filling out an application, owning a home, dealing with having my children screamed at by a clearly overstimulated anxious worker, then despite heightened emotions we found two kittens we fell in love with. We inquired about adoption to be met by the stressed out workers who were incredibly kind as they explained to me that we weren’t able to adopt them or secure them or ensure we can come back tomorrow and have to cross our fingers that these two animals that they fell in love with are there for adoption?! So the same establishment we trust with taking care of lost animals in Indianapolis are the same reason we’re driving home with crushed kids I cannot lie to and pretend that those cats will be there tomorrow. Not sure how to support an organization with rules so strict that they avoid animals having a safe home because of rigid rules. Crossing our fingers the right emotional support kitty/kitties find our family soon!Update: Went up there this morning. Cats aren’t adoptable and the workers aren’t being given any information as to why or when they will be available. We will be working with another establishment to bring home some furry friends. So incredibly disappointing- do better.

B K: This was one of the absolute worst experiences I have had as a dog owner in the 15 years Ive owned my baby. I made the appointment online and came 45 minutes to the Castleton area assuming that this simple grooming service would be done without issue. I recently relocated here from Georgia and Im new to Indianapolis. Upon arrival, a request for vaccines was made and vaccination record was provided. My groomer Taliyah went around and around with her manager to check the acceptance of the document. I shouldve known then to leave and schedule an appointment somewhere else but after a few minutes of debating, a manager named Connor came in and approved the documents as it clearly stated the rabies vaccine was administered in January of this year. I was quoted a 3 to 4 hour time-frame to complete the grooming. I stayed in the Castleton area to avoid the long commute back home. At 345, I receive a call from Talia stating that Cameron is ready to be picked up. During the call she tells me that "Petsmart doesnt have the proper equipment for a senior dog" and they were unable to complete the job due to my pet "thrashing". Now, im concerned. I google the term and it states that thrashing is a seizure. This has never happened before. I get to the register to pick up my dog and theyve deducted the cost of the original groom down to half the price. I asked Taliyah if my dog had a seizure and she laughed stating "she just wouldnt sit still"My dog looks the exact same way she did when I dropped her off for my appointment. There was still food and stains on her face which hadnt even appeared to be touched.I understand that the policy states that due to a dogs behavior, the groomer can decide to discontinue service at any time. What I dont understand is why it took almost 4 hours to wash her body only and trim her nails. This is highly unacceptable and a huge disappointment and inconvenience. Regardless of the area, please consider taking your pets somewhere else.
Emily Hendrickson: Dis-organized-Left a different number for them to call when my pup was ready for pick-up, which they did not call. I also did not get a report card or any acknowledgement of how she did during her grooming session.Bad Service-Was petting my dog 3 hours after and hair was flying although I paid for the Furminator. Went to go brush her and within 3 minutes had a huge fist full of her undercoat. She is a young lab and is shedding her undercoat for the first time this spring. I understand that she will still have some undercoat but I don’t think they even brushed her.

JM: Training here is very nice with Shannon, she’s great with animals and our dog. Our dog loves her and picks up the training quick when she’s teaching him something new, group classes are nice for socializing your new puppy with others and the private training is good as well for a time that works for you and one on one teaching. If you’re thinking of training your pet here go with Shannon. Best trainer.

Abby argued with me about a service I did not request, ended up not having to pay for it, but still she was very rude. Even told me I signed for the service and that I should read before I signed it. I agree but all the times I’ve ever taken my dogs there I and no one else stands there to read the form that gives them permission to groom our dogs, and this time was no different. It was clear what service I wanted since I made my reservation online and clearly chose wash, cut, nail trim, and communicated that again when I brought our dog in. I’m aware that we all make mistakes but this young lady lied and was rude. I don’t recommend Abby M. at all. If you do choose her I hope your experience will be better than mine.

Bella Penrose: Took my dog here to be groomed because I had such positive experiences at other petsmart. When I checked in the groomer said they would do what they did last time. I said yes because that had previously been exactly what I asked for. When picking my dog up she had received a schnauzer cut and not the puppy cut I typically ask for. I am extremely disappointed and disgusted with the service I received. The hair that was shaved off my dogs ears takes years to grow back. I was offered no support from the service staff when expressing my concern and instead was told “we will make a note for next time”. There will not be a next time. This experience makes me want to stop shopping and getting grooming services done at petsmart all together. The first photo is her groom previously. Second is her groom today.

Tiffany Owens (HuffleTiff): I’m new to the area, but always had good experiences at Petsmart grooming, so made appointments at the closest store. Both of my dogs were still damp when I picked them up, neither had been brushed out as they had knots and strangles all over. One of them didn’t get her nails cut, just barely ground. I paid extra for the furmanator wash and my dog looks exactly the same. I will not be back to this store for grooming.

Sam Baker: Payton in grooming is amazing. She has been dealing with my two shih tzus, one is 1.5 years old and the other is a puppy. She was so sweet with my puppy and made sure he is comfortable getting groomed. I also did training classes with Jonathon and would highly recommend. The store is clean although is can get quite crowded and everyone is friendly.

Joan Woods: We had our feline boy, Danny, in palliative care with ulcerative cancer. The kind cashier, after discussing with me that Dan refused to even eat tuna and $2 per can premium food, recommended that I try resorting back to what I considered a junk food that our boys were on when we first adopted them as 10 week old kitten brothers. (The equivalent of a twinkie to our human diet, in my opinion.)They didn't have a small bag... so I purchased a 16 lb bag of nostalgia and lugged it home with me. You should have SEEN the kitties' eyes light up when they smelled that bag!! A 16 lb bag of cat treats!!!We euthanized Danny on Saturday at a terrible 5 lbs 13 oz. He'd always been a strapping 12 lb plus gorgeous Russian Blue and I'm devastated without my majestic boy. But I'll always be grateful for this gentle cashier who helped me make his final days brighter. ❤️. You are a wonderful human. Thank you and God bless you.

J. M.: Worst animal rescue in Indy, I was going to help a friend adopt a cat but the staff was patronizing and condescending on the phone, and the woman who answered the phone actually yelled at me and hung up the phone. I have worked with a number animal rescue groups over the years and Southside Animal Shelter is the absolute WORST I have ever had and would never recommend using them or giving financial support... there are LOTS of better rescue groups in central Indiana

Papi Midnight: Had a really bad experience here today, we saw on facebook it was the last day to see dogs before they went to appointment based only. Drove 30+ mins to attempt to look at a adorable puppy spent half the day with him and ready to except this wonderful dog into our lives. Filled out app to begin the process of adoption left my app at the front and was told everything looked great. My family was so excited since we heard we were the first ones to put in the app and stayed up all night. Next morning all i got was a text saying i denied and no reason why, no call back number or nothing. Managed to get ahold of someone and was told due to me not being 21 (im 20) i was unable to adopt this awesome dog. I explained to the lady my situation of coming with multiple people of that age that live at the same address and i only file it out since i was paying for it. She explained they already moved on and there is no going back. ( i called a min after receiving that text and even had my mother explained everything.) no help or nothing. Im glad the dog got adopted but this is one of the worst processes ive ever experienced and i would rather adopt from somewhere else as some of these dogs fees are on par to pet shops. To the two workers that allowed us to experience this moment thank you and may the establishment do better next time in communication

Robin Koehl: They will gladly take little dogs. Even before you decide if this is a good place to surrender, as I had to for a stray, they rush you into making a decision. I left heart broken. They put the poor dog in with many others, did not even check the health of the one I brought in! The dog was shaking and overwhelmed. An uncaring and unkempt worker had chipped the dog as he took it from me. I called back to say I had decided to keep the stray. Was told, too late because I had surrendered it.
Patty Davis: I went there with my daughter we found a dog abandoned out in the street and ACS told us to take him there so we did that and is the cleanest animal shelter I have ever saw and there really nice there poor little dog has fleas and had a tick on him my daughter gave him a bath right away he walked using 3 legs one was removed he was handicap but he was cute as a button. I hope he got a good home.

We tried to stop by and it was closed due to a sick dog and another time we went we were not able to look at adoption due to short staffing. I have since adopted a hurricane displaced dog fostered for past 2 years though another avenue. She is perfect. I hope all is well now at the shelter and I will return after my current baby has lived her best life. She is older but I hope to have many years with her! Thanks for all you do!

Kimberly Fisher: We looking for a dog and filled out a application. We brought in ESA documentation which does not require the dog to have any training they just have to be loving and affectioniate. We gave vet information all animals were current on vaccines and shots in our home. They denied us because they were uncomfortable with the vet response and that they didn't train their animals to be ESA which does not require training. The vet gave a positive review. Very judgemental people. Will never adopt a pet from here. We were looking at Gambit and what they don't tell you is that Gambit is very toy aggressive and food aggressive.

Shawn Hicks: Using my boyfriend's account to type this. Genuinely I don't understand how people go here to this location and why it's still in buisness. First, it's not clean. Last time I was here a couple of months ago, there was a pee line from one aisle to the other. No one in sight. No wet caution sign. If I had fallen, they would get sued hands down. I had to hunt for someone to inform and this woman seemed off. She shrugged then said "I will get to it when I get to it". Really? Her hair was a mess and kind of wavy and she looked completely checked out. Blue eyes, short. Lastly, I only got two items. The line was long and only 1 register open. The cashier was an older nice lady but she looked displeased. Overall do not suggest going here. There are way better places
Jonathan Hiler: Super selection of stuff for every kind of pet, and a vet clinic right inside. The fish department is nice, and the staff is very helpful.
Will Krebs: Been coming to my location almost my entire life; its easily my favorite of the local pet stores. They have very good pricing here and I still own fish that I bought from here years ago (they are even more hardy then some of the "famous" LFS's in Indiana!). And we have been more than satisfied with the lovely dogs & cats we have adopted from this location as well!(My only critique is that I would like to see more variety in the fish selection! I feel like I always have a pretty good idea of what they offer, when sometimes other stores may have better stocking options.)

Olivia Anderson: Bought two betta fish a few months back. One supposed to be a male and the other a female. The male passed away within weeks and the "female" we were sold was actually a male as well as we recently found out.

Haley Dych: The grooming on my new doodle was so bad. He was matted, I knew he would be shaved with a ten blade. That is fine. But he was so uneven, they didn’t trim his feet hairs, and I don’t think they even attempted to trim his armpits. Real bad.
Jennifer A. Harris: This place always has what I need for all my pets in a pinch. Rabbit hay, quality dog and cat food, healthy treats, etc. And you can earn rewards on their app.

My baby didn’t really smell as good as I was hoping and his hair was hardly even trimmed even though I asked for a full cut. Mind you I have a yorkie. His grooming was just a week ago and he’s already due for another cut.
Kerry Ideman (chasnfireflies): Great trip this time. We found a ton of fun toys for the cat and the doggie. We couldn't find the specific type of weight control food our sheltie is accustomed to. Two store associates helped us figure out that they have rebranded the version and found us the equivalent replacement food as well as a premium good stuff catnip. Thanks for the help!

Stephen Tharp: Ridiculous that you go through and purchase items for your pet and then they first of all don’t help you at all or even offer while you’re in the store and second they want to charge you for the bag they want to put the items you just purchased in. I didn’t realize they were trying to be like Aldi.

Karen Clayton-Wells: We visited PetCo on Sunday to pick up a guinea pig for our daughter. Her pet cockatiel died (we told her she flew away), and she had been so heartbroken, missing her friend. Of course, dad wanted to make her happy and that meant finding her a new friend.We are so happy to have come across Bailey. They were extremely helpful in helping us. Not only were they helpful in assisting us with picking out the newest members (yes members, guinea pigs are herd animals, so we needed to pick two out) of our family, picking out the items they'd need at home so they would be happy and healthy, but they were also very knowledgeable about the guinea pigs. They were very sweet and patient with mine and my husband's various questions and did not hesitate to take time from stocking items to help us pick out all we needed and explain the care process for the piggies.If you visit this location, I hope Bailey is there to assist you! They definitely made this trip/purchase easy!
