Connor Burgess: I was stoked that there was some unused government assistance related to the pandemic that could be utilized for continued education to build upon skills needed in the high necessity job markets. I went through the entire admissions process and thoroughly made sure that my profile would check out and pass all levels of the process to get the government assistance. I was absolutely assured that I did qualify and I was in the clear. I even at one point mentioned my current education (MBA) and asked if it will present any issues as I didn't want to sign up and pay the $250 application fee if it would. I was told it wasn't an issue and wouldn't present any issues.Low and behold, I was denied assistance. I reached out to my academic advisor, Kourtney, whom I needed to follow-up with in order to get a response and I was only told "Since you met all of the enrollment requirements and everything looked good for your funding, it looked like you should have received the funding. That being said the fee is non-refundable as stated on the website when you made the payment. Any refund would have to be approved by the Director of Admissions. I will reach out to him."Since that was the case, I went ahead and reached out to the Director of Admissions, Paul, myself so he had all of the communications.This posting was a 1 star and is now a 4 star. Paul ended up reaching out and was on vacation, which is where a communication gap existed. Paul apologized and gave credible backup information as to why this may have happened and said he could work with me to fix the issue. Dawn T: I was excited to start the SD program. Instructors seemed knowledgeable and willing to provide assistance. There was a lot of information thrown at you all at once and it was hard to know where to find the answers that I needed to be successful though. Unfortunately, I began to fall behind and my instructors and the administrative staff were very very slow to respond and then they told me I could not continue to the next badge. I tried to explain my situation and no one really cared. I believe they charged me the whole amount for all badges and aren't giving me a refund. So beware, if you struggle, you have no recourse and you will still owe money or forfeit money that was given by the state.

The instructors were great, and really made sure everyone was understanding the curriculum. I felt extremely comfortable and confident after. When I returned to school, I definitely had a leg up to my peers with my coding experience. Willie Travis: PROS- Seamless enrollment process- Incredibly helpful instructors and support team- Coursework offered a good balance of lecture time and heads down coding time.CONS- Course content had a decent flow, but during our final project we had to design with Angular which had never been covered in class.- Friday workshops were hit and miss; some guest speakers were dynamic and engaging, others not so much.I was a student in March 2019 in the full-time .NET cohort. Before enrolling, I attended the free intro to coding course offered at EFA. I felt no pressure to enroll and was encouraged that they acknowledged that coding wasn't for everyone and effectively screened their potential students.We were given pre-work to complete prior to our cohort starting which really let you hit the ground running when the class started. The class moved at a quick pace and throughout the twelve weeks, our class size went from 18 to 12 students.The important piece of Eleven Fifty Academy is the career services team, as a large majority of students are there to prepare them for a job in tech. One important thing to note is that EFA does not have a direct pipeline to any employers, so you're not guaranteed a job after graduating. Expect to hustle, network and keep working to hone your skills post graduation to land your first job. Their career services team will be there to support you every step of the way with resume building tools and tips, advice on networking on LinkedIn and sending you job opportunities as they become available.Overall, I had a great experience at EFA. I met some great people and fell in love with the EFA's supportive culture. Lydia Moody: I was able to successfully career change in less than a year by attending Eleven Fifty Academy. I began their Javascript program Dec 2018 and had an offer at a top tech company in Indianapolis in August of 2019. EFA can be a stepping stone for someone like me who had no prior experience in development or it can be a place to expand your knowledge for those who already have learned a language but need to improve their skills or add a new language to their knowledge base. And I can't finish this without including that you get amazing lunches every day included in your tuition!

Nicholas Perry: I decided on EFA after comparing them to Hack Reactor and App Academy because I thought they had the most caring people, and thankfully I was right. The instructors were extremely helpful because although they help up a standard, they were flexible as long as you were trying your hardest. I put in as many hours as I could put in and in return I succeeded and got a job 4 weeks before graduating. Career services will tell you exactly what to do and and how to do it in order to get a job. If you are able to do it and follow a plan, I don't think there's a way to mess it up. Also, the curriculum is good(4/5) but for learning .NET they definitely are the top place to be. Many schools only focus on javascript or a language specific to their area, but I liked how they had a well rounded full stack curriculum using a technology from one of the biggest companies on earth. Overall, I thought EFA is a school that is innovative in their teaching methods and that coupled with caring and useful instructors they provide one of the best pathways to success as a software developer.

I had heard a lot of mixed reviews about bootcamps in general from other people, however my experience at Eleven Fifty challenged me in ways I never expected. They not only know the material that they teach, they have real world experience doing it. The course is far from easy, and it will challenge you.
