Michael Goldsmith: This one Dojo (school), teaches 6 different martial arts and self defense. They have two main instructors each teaching 3 arts. You have a choice of Kyushu Jitsu, Modern Arnis, Small Circle Jujitsu, Kali, JKD and Silat. All ages welcome and adult and children's classes are separate. Pretty cool stuff.
Mike Scarbrough: Carmel Martial Arts is an amazing school! Their classes are excellent and Grandmaster Higginbotham is a caring and patient teacher.

Sarkine's Total Warrior: what do users think?
Irvin Cottone: I've been training at the indianapolis martial arts club for about a year now and I absolutely love it. The instructors are all incredibly knowledgeable and experienced, and they really know how to push you to your limits. The classes are always challenging but fun, and I always leave feeling energized and accomplished. I've also noticed a huge difference in my fitness level since I started training here. I'm stronger, faster, and more confident than ever before. If you're looking for a great place to get in shape and learn how to kickbox, I highly recommend this place!
Romario Romain: Amazing coach! Great school! An environment built on learning and hard work !! Would definitely recommend
Connor Retz: I stumbled upon this place a little over three years ago. I was very out of shape and depressed, looking for a way out. I can honestly say that joining Indianapolis Martial Arts Club solved all my problems. Instructors Ray and James not only get students in the best shape of their life, but they also embed respect, discipline, and confidence in students. Students also meet so many different people with completely different backgrounds. I personally feel like Indianapolis Martial Arts Club has given me a family outside of my family, and for that, I am very thankful. What I was worried about most when I first started was that I would be thrown in with someone way more experienced than myself and I would end up hurt. This is not the case at all for any new student. Every new student starts in a beginner class. When Ray and James see that a student is ready to move on to the next class than they will make that arrangement. With Ray and James having over fifty years of experience under their belts, students feel safe and satisfied after every class. If you are ready to change your life for the better, go to their website or call them to schedule a free introduction.
David Goff: This is a place you have to come visit for yourself, don't let all the reviews confuse your decision making. I joined this club and I've enjoyed my experience so far. But you have to ask yourself : Do you really want to learn how to fight? Cause you gonna learn some stuff. Can you afford it and is it worth the investment? For me it was. Checked off a lot of boxes. I looked at a lot of schools across Indy. This one fit me best for my lifestyle and what I wanted to learn. To some it up come here check it out see if it's a good fit for you and if you are a good fit for them. You are getting your money's worth no matter what amount you pay, because these skills will last the rest of ur life.
Stephanie Elliott: I am so happy that after driving past this place a million times, I decided to call. Ray and James are so patient with me and helpful. I get a great workout that I wouldn't do otherwise. I was nervous that I would feel like the odd one out, but the other people in the class are really nice and you feel like you fit in quick. I love it. Worth every penny.
Michael Barron: Clean gym, great instructors, affordable pricing. 10 out of 10 experience these past 3 months!
Solomon Burks: Great place for people who are coming to learn and grow, not only in martial arts, but the discipline that comes with it that transfers into the real world.
Monica Dominguez: I have been attending IMAC for about 5 months now and my experience has been nothing short of amazing. What I appreciate the most is that they prioritize the safety of club members. High quality instruction from coaches that are invested in helping you improve. Couldn’t recommend it enough!
Elisa Garcia: I am not usually in the habit of posting reviews but when I believe in something, Ill talk about to everybody. And that's exactly what I feel like I need to do with this club. Ray and James honestly care about you as an individual and student and invest the time needed for a student as myself to grow.
Daniela Gonzalez: In case anyone wants a ballpark in pricingfor $150 you will get a lecture that has nothing to do with pricing just their morals and stuff from the head coach and a private lesson. A couple of your classes can get credited afterwards from that $150 if you commit to procede. On the average he says a student pays $30+ per class. However If you need to catch up with the rest of the class with Private Lessons it will range around $150. They will raise prices I don’t recall how often but I believe it varies due to inflation and other variable costs per student but in his words “my students that I’ve had for a couple years+, pay more now than they did when they began”. They want a minimum 2yr commitment to be coached otherwise its not worth their time and they could put their energy on another student. I didn’t and could not commit to that which is fine with me im not upset, so ultimately I accepted I’d fall in this school’s number of people who leave after the first day that he will mention multiple times on the first meeting. I will say though the private lesson was actually incredible, I learned a lot and felt it too. The head coach is referred to as “chief coach”. Not strange at all. I think he must like hearing himself talk because he WILL drag on and on his points with strange analogies, assumptions of yourself, and examples of other students. So know really, you’re just listening to him, all you ever do is just nod your head with an occasional “mhm” and feel like it will never end! The next moment he’s already up and walking away with a “alright, lets keep in touch if you’re serious”. Good Luck Interrupting him to ask a question! I will say this, I think this school should get a reality show because the way I see it, the “Chief” basically runs that place like the Abbey Lee Miller from Dance Moms. (Hey big money idea). All in all I’m being told generations have/are training here, pros, and apparently lots of champions are born here too (he will make sure you know that)
Animal Kyle: Most of these low reviews seem to be about the contract. Yes, the contract sucks. Like every contract. I was 18 and fresh out of high school when I signed mine. I had NO idea on what I was getting into with that, I'm still surprised that they didn't want one of my parents there with me like they did the other 18 year olds in the class. I signed up for the 3 year contract. I would try to make it every day for classes, if not every other day to make sure I was getting my full worth and train as much as possible. After a few months, I ran into hard financial problems and was not able to end my contract. I couldn't really talk to Ray about any of this without getting the normal response of "Well, you're an adult. A contract is a contract." ordeal. However, James brought me into his office, sat me down and we hashed everything out. I didn't cancel my contract, but he helped me figure out what my next step was for financial thinking. That's what a good instructor does, a good teacher. I continued to train with them and loved every minute of it until my contract was up. I never really talked to Ray (I mainly thought he was conceited with some of his stories he would talk about but hey, personal opinion) since James was always helping me, training me, and teaching me. If you are looking into enrolling into IMAC, I would suggest doing a pay in full option if the contract seems to be upsetting you. I would 10/10 recommend anyone train under James and Ray. I learned values, defense and offense, and really good life lessons from them. I hope to join again one day.
Meester: If you cancel your membership, make sure they actually cancel it and don't charge you past your membership date. Had to jump through hoops and do certified mail to get my charges back because they didn't cancel it as they said they had done.Your own equipment is not allowed sans hand wraps and a jump rope. They make you buy from them when signing your contract and is ungodly overpriced. Pads do not cost $275+ even if they're "the best shipped from Thailand". They weren't. Only figured that out after the fact when I joined another gym. They giggled at my naivety lol. That's on me. I got some cool muay thai shorts out of it though I think?
Jessica Mann: I started about 5 months ago, and I absolutely love it. Not only do you learn self defense, you also get an amazing workout. I have never left the gym feeling anything but sore and proud. Once you get into the routine of going, you'll start wishing you could go everyday. When I first started, I made every excuse in the book as to why I couldn't go, because I knew I would be worked and dripping sweat within the first 10 minutes of the class. I would absolutely give it a try:)
Fernando Sosa: One day I made the decision to stop by this place to ask about the classes.and from there I made the decision to give myself the opportunity to learn something newI was already bored with the daily routine and never doing anything for myself and I liked it I recommend this place on 💯
Michaela Tucker: I’ve been attending classes for a few months now and it has been a really great experience. I would highly recommend this place to everyone
Cooper Dykes: I've been attending classes here for over a year now and I can say that it's been worth every second. I'll start with talking about the instructors, Ray and James are both really great teachers with how they'll get out there, work with people individually, and make sure they get it right before moving on while at the same time maintaining a no nonsense attitude. Then there's the other students and in all my time enrolled I haven't had an issue with anyone, partly due to the fact that Ray and James don't allow cocky or hotheaded people into the class, henceforth everyone is very respectful and you can tell they're there for the same reason you are to grow and develop for the better. This place is a true life changer and I couldn't recommend a better place for someone looking to get into martial arts.
Kywane Crowder: Sarkine Martial Art Club Is Amazing. You Want To Learn Self Defense Come Here
Jaredy Hernandez: These guys really help get you out of your comfort zone and help you stay in shape not just physically but also mentally; it’s a great place to be i’ve enjoyed going ever since i’ve signed up.
Ana Silva: This makes exercising so much fun and helps relieve any negative emotions. I’ve been doing this for 1+ year and this has impacted me greatly. This is something I always look forward to during my week. I highly recommend it!
Javier Gonzalez: From the time I've been here it's been amazing I've never had so much fun working with my friends. If you have free time all the time I would greatly recommend this place it will change the way you view life.
Michelle Lamar: Before I get started, this is an alias name that I am using because Sarkine’s had me sign a contract stating I would not post a bad review online. So James and Ray, don’t reply with “this is a troll”. I was a customer of yours. Before you sign anything, READ EVERYTHING. I had something come up and could no longer attend the classes. It was to no fault of my own and completely unforeseeable. I essentially was told through snail mail that I had to keep making the payments. Long story short, Sarkine’s only cares about the money. They don’t care about the students as people.

Geist Martial Arts: what do users think?
Linda West: Love Geist Karate. My granddaughter loves going. The instructors are great and student to instructor ratio is great. Have recommended them and will continue to recommend them.
Christina Marsh: Great place for kids to learn martial arts.
Donald Eldridge: We have been coming here for a few years now. Mr. Byrd and the staff are amazing with kids. He remembers each child's name very quickly which make them feel special. They have a great way of connecting with the kids and helping them build confidence. The schedule is set as you can find a day/s that work with your schedule with being a realtor my schedule is all over the place but i can still get my son in a few times a week.
Scott Lantz: Great place! Amazing experience for both kids and adults!
Robert Hixson: Our kids have gone here for over a year and they still love it. The owners (Byrds) are great with kids. The instructors are forever students showing an incredible path for you or your kids to take as well.
Terry Siegel: Affordable, no contracts, great teachers and the owners are the best! My grandson loves it!
Karen Murphy: The owners, staff, and atmosphere are excellent! Our granddaughter moved to New Castle & we still pick her up so she can make it to at least 2-3 classes a week! She LOVES it!!
William: I highly recommend Geist Martial Arts. If you are looking for a family friendly and positive environment this is the place to be. It has become an activity that our whole family is now a part of. Mr. and Mrs. Byrd bring structure and laughter to their training techniques which is an absolute joy to be a part of. Most importantly our kids have learned and are continuing to learn important life lessons that they will carry all their life.
Martha Her: Our 4yr old just loves coming to karate here. The staff is very patient and understanding with all ages. There’s activities and new words they can learn and use in everyday use. Such a great way to burn energy AND learn core manners at the same time! Our 2nd child will certainly go here once he is of age too!
Camille Cook: Both of my daughters attend Geist Martial Arts. I highly recommend. They have great instructors that are patient and creative with keeping the class fun and also educational.
Casey Fox: We recently moved to the area and our daughter expressed interest in trying Martial Arts. We read the amazing reviews for Geist Martial Arts and decided to give them a try. Our daughter has anxiety and was extremely nervous, however the amazing staff (especially Ms. Rosenthal and the Byrd’s) quickly made her laugh and put her at ease. It quickly became her favorite activity. If your child has anxiety, is shy, nervous, or just needs some self-confidence do not hesitate. They are amazing and will absolutely bring out the best in your child. We’ve witnessed it with our daughter.
Lindsay Ehrgott: Absolutely love Geist Martial Arts! We pass several other martial arts locations to bring our son here. All of the instructors do an amazing job of keeping the kids focused and make sure they are actively participating. My son has been going here for almost a year and ALWAYS looks forward to going to class and loves to practice what he learns at home. There is no contract, they're affordable, very patient with the students, and the classes are very active and fun! Highly recommend this place!
Shelby Kissick: In the 6 months that I have attended, every person I have encountered has been so kind, patient, and generous. They seem to have found the perfect balance between teaching lots of practical skills while also maintaining a slightly more relaxed atmosphere. Would highly recommend to anyone!
Crista Neeson: The best thing about this place is the owners and staff!!! My kids love taking classes here and have learned so much!
Jennifer Sheets: My son has been a student here since early 2018. We value his experience here. He has received wonderful, knowledgeable instruction in taekwondo that has translated to everyday life. If you are looking for a martial arts studio, I would highly recommend Geist Martial Arts!
Frances Evans: Let's start off with saying my kids love Mr. Byrd and all the instructors. Mr. Byrd adds a little humor into his teachings, keeping the kids engaged. He also teaches them about having self control, determination when it gets hard, and other lessons that matter in their daily lives..all while providing them with skills in self defense and confidence. Another benefit is they don't make you sign a contract, gracious with payment times when needed and they are flexible with class times (we are a very busy family and they have allowed us to attend a different class level when needed since the times worked better for us). I also love that they genuinely like to give back to the community. I wish all businesses ran the way they do. I could go on, but come find out for yourselves.
Jake M: Couldn’t be happier with what I see day in and day out at Geist Martial Arts. My 6 year old joined about two years ago and the transformation I have seen is incredible.GMA not only teaches a martial art, but teaches great life skills for the students, which are continuously reinforced each class. The staff are all friendly, patient, and helpful. Mr. Byrd is a wizard with the kids and both parents and students enjoy his unique personality and ways to lighten up the class. If you haven’t signed up yet, go for it.5/5
Lauren George: Amazing program and staff. So fortunate to have them in our children’s lives.
Brittney Sundheimer: We absolutely loved our time at Geist martial arts. The instructors are great with kids and the pricing was so affordable for our single income family.
Kirsten Robbins: My child absolutely loves this karate studio. They really make learning fun. I also appreciate that they teach my child important lessons about working hard, being kind, and being a good sport. I cannot recommend them highly enough.
Tiffany Gaidoo: Absolutely amazing business, amazing instructors, and amazing atmosphere. Finding Geist Martial has been a true blessing for our family.

Sensokan Dojo Indianapolis Jiu-Jitsu & Zen: what do users think?
John Lowe: Sometimes the real thing is right in front of your face. Sometimes you have to climb the mountain to find your master. Ted Hanulak is the last of his kind. He doesnt charge money, his dojo is part of his house, a beautiful traditional Japanese dojo. He doesn't teach kids.People believe that you can learn martial arts from Youtube or from some clown charging thousands of dollars, making you sign long contracts, but you cannot. You need to find the real thing. Not just someone who is convenient or close by.He only accepts a small amount of students. If you're lucky, maybe you will be one of them.
Jonathan Kranz: This school is phenomenal. It has everything I hoped for in a martial arts dojo - seriousness, academics, Zen philosophy, physicality and meditation. The space itself is also very special. Sensei has created a truly marvelous space. Sensei is tough but fair. He has a strict attendance policy which is understandable. Students are required to dedicate themselves to the practice so that it does not waste Sensei's nor the other students' time. Unfortunately for me, I had to drop out from the school after only one class because of family obligations which conflicted with the schedule and would have become a problem for my wife and son. I still agonize over leaving. It's been over 2 months since I last attended and I think about how (and how much) I learned at Sensokan nearly every day. If that doesn't say something about the quality and depth of education you can receive, then I do not know what can. My one hope is that perhaps someday, Sensei will allow me to return. He is a good man.
Nikhil Das Nomula: This is the best place to learn Martial arts. I have trained under Sensei for about 6 months and it had a huge impact on me. Sensei is strict and cares about you. Sensei is a fantastic teacher and keeps it real
Dustin Cannon: I only trained at the Sensokan Dojo for a short time, but the experience was unlike anything I could have gotten elsewhere. I don't think there is another dojo like it.The self defense training, discipline, and overall atmosphere is one of great respect that honors the true spirit of the Japanese martial arts. Training at the Sensokan Dojo actually ruined martial arts for elsewhere. After leaving, I had no interest in training at other martial arts schools which now seemed to be nothing more than imagination or pretend, definitely having nothing to do with Budo.Training under Hanulak Sensei, I learned how to be detached and completely in whatever I am doing. Sensei probably has no idea what an impact he and the dojo had on my life because I didn't get to train as much as I wanted because of personal obligations, and family that needed me during some difficult times.I don't have many regrets in life, but #1 on my list is that I did not take every advantage of training more at the Sensokan Dojo before moving out of state. Thank you Sensei.
Richard Denney: The experience of a traditional Japanese martial art and a teacher who cares. The training is tough and rigorous and if you stick with it you will see the benefits.
Stillwaters: The Sensokan Dojo Indianapolis is one of the last true dojos around anywhere. Traditional yet practical, the Sensokan offers Japanese Jujutsu and Zen meditation combined creating an extremely effective form of self defense. Other schools are filled with children. Not this place. Walking into the Sensokan is like walking into feudal Japan. There is no place better. This is the real deal.

Indianapolis Martial Arts Academy: what do users think?
Andrew Hughes: IMAA has been a great place for me and my kids to study the art of Taekwondo together. Master Benjamin and the other instructors are in it for all the right reasons. Glad to have a resource like this right here in Pike Township!
D. Frank Adams: Master Benjamin and Instructors Flight, Spurlock and Rankin have worked my daughter for about 6 months. This dynamic team has taken a child that was unsure and unfocused and has began a transformation that is amazing. The great part is that ALL students are treated this way! From confidence building to establishing respect for all, this school applies these concepts into all who enter the door.

Impact Martial Arts: what do users think?
Nora Harris: My son went to 2 classes. During this time nothing was explained to him just threw him into exercising with no stretching. Kids taught the first class. I witnessed a grown instructor throw a temper tantrum, telling his students how he didn’t have to be there ending his class early. It’s a shame because my son liked the other students but now goes to a different karate school that he enjoys much more and way more affordable. I highly recommend IRise Martial Arts inside the Get Fit Athletic Club on E Washington & Shortridge. We’ve been extremely satisfied with Grand Master Ingram’s school.
Ruben: Great Little Place to teach kids self-discipline, self-respect, and etc.
corey Mitchell: The instructors are great and friendly would highly recommend and if you are a spectator be prepared to get roped in by the instructors
Crystal Sower: I have not fully immersed myself in to this place yet but so far they seem really good,I just signed up my little one and I really like how they work with the kids! They Played Me-Edit review- my little one went there and it is not as advertised. He did not get his karate Gi, if that is how you say it and the man told me that to join I would have to pay 100$ sign up and 299$ fist month all due at one time and the 299$ would be per month. I think the prices should be laid out before you hand over the initial 50$ because if I had known it would be so much I would have never paid 50$ for a month of classes and then turn around and pay 300$ a month for the same classes that price jump makes no sense and is seems as though that is standard practice get you in the door then tell you they want an arm and leg for the classes that'sjust wrong to me. Go at your own risk. It is a nice studio and teachers but no no no to those prices🤨
Tim Barnett: Positive:Quality,ValueMaster Northup, is very knowledgeable and caring about his students. You couldn't ask for a better instructor.
Jennifer Baron: My son loves it. Awesome instructors
Christina Turner: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueImpact Martial Arts is a great place to take your child. My son is 7 and he absolutely loves it and it gives him a chance to be apart of something special. The owner and the instructors are very knowledgeable and friendly! Would 10/10 recommend!
Jared Huckstep: My son takes lessons here and he absolutely loves it. The instructors are very attentive
Annie bishop: Positive:Quality,ValueThis has been a great lace for my 5 year old. He absolutely loves going. It’s a great energy burner and the martial arts philosophy instills great lessons for young children. We have seen an improvement in his ability to listen and follow instructions. He is so motivated to get his black stripe!!!
Joseph “Joe” Divish: I've been a student at this location since April of 2019. The prices are fair and he even gives a discount if you pay in full for 6 months at a time (The best deal). Being in the military as well, Master Northup will even add time to your 6 months if you have scheduling conflicts related to military service. They have intense belt camps that allow students to gain knowledge and physical fitness in a short amount of time, which allows them to rank up in belts faster. If you just go to the website and fill out a form you will not have any question over looked. The free 2 weeks of classes to see if it's for you is also nice!
Chip Dean: Extremely professional a quality place to train
leonard duke: My son goes here it is an awesome learning experience if your kid likes boxing they would love this.
Angela Shamblin: Great place
Rafael H.: I initially signed up my my son and he loved it. He was having so much fun I decided to join as well. The instructors are very knowledgeable, and they're great with the children. I definitely encourage anyone who's looking to learn a lot and meet great people to sign up.
Antonio Key: The best Martial arts school that I have ever seen.
Maria Cooper: Awesome school and instructors! Lead instructor is an 8th degree black belt and actually studied under the founders of taekwondo! He is amazing with kids as are all the instructors. It has helped my son who has problems with ADHD and focusing. He has learned discipline and focus and is now on his way to black belt! They also learn other martial arts as well. I have never had a problem with uniforms. In fact, I don't care if my son was doing martial arts in his pajamas there as he has learned and improved so much! Highly recommend to anyone!
Matt Spears: The experience is great. The classes are fun and challenging.
Laura Beckley: I did not have provlem with uniform. Instructors are great with kids. Teaching respect and discipline. My grandson loves it!
julie stiers: Instructors are great at their job!
Missy Petty: The special that is offered for $69.00 is false advertisement. You do not receive a uniform. Unfortunately my 7 yr old grandson went through 5 1/2 of his 6 week class without a uniform. Beware..
Nathanael Ginn: Impact Martial Arts is a great place to learn self defense and get some exercise. It is a safe, fun environment for kids and adults to learn martial arts.
