Though the grape leaves for the dalmatis were a little tough, the atmosphere and hospitality reminded me of my visits to Greece and Cyprus in the Mediterranean!And the cocktails are worth there weight in gold. No shortcuts there. And it seemed so fitting after we had just visited Holliday Park with their ancient Greek looking monuments! Couldn't have capt the day off any better than at Canal Bistro!

I think the owner checked in on him, 1 or 2 from the back of the house, etc...he left after eating. It appears that the staff, owner, etc...feeds the young man. I think he is homeless. The humanity shown by the people who work there was awe-inspiring.When I left I asked if they had fed a homeless person, the hostess replied affirmingly. I offered to cover his expenses, she wouldn't take it. I offered a donation. She said she would take it & give it to him directly.Parking: Actually has a parking lot. Nice for Broad Ripple.

Clint Collins: This was our first visit to the Canal Bistro and it was worth the trip. Not only do you get a nice view of the canal, but the food is outstanding. I definitely recommend appetizers like hummus and lentil soup, but best of all was the grilled portobello mushroom, which was extremely tasty and perhaps the best I ever had. Everyone at the table enjoyed their entrees which ranged from the tilapia to chicken kabob to beef shawarma. I had the moussaka and it was certainly delicious. To experience classic Middle Eastern and Greek dishes, the Canal Bistro should be your destination.

They do have very good hummus and pita though that you can get for during the week for lunches for your kid or you at work. They do not seem to have the best sanitation based off of covid standards. They make some pretty decent gyros and the service was nice and friendly too.They don’t seem to be getting much business so I’m thankful we made it here.Overall, if you’re a gyro person and you’re in the area, this place is worth checking out.
Garrett Gregory: The spicy gyros are the best gyros I've ever had, normal gyros were good but spicy was spectacular. The thin sliced meat and spices with the cucumber sauce is simpler than others I've had but it proves simple is sometimes better. It's served inside the pita bread which I prefer.The lamb kabob was good as well. Quite a bit of rice with chunks of meat and different vegetables. I personally would prefer more meat and vegetables but it definitely isn't needed. With the rice it filled me up.My girlfriend usually gets the chicken shawarma which she has let me try. Smaller chunks of marinated chicken and she usually gets the cucumber sauce. I have gotten the beef shawarma which was on equal ground as the chicken, both were good.I've also gotten a few different appetizers and sides. The hummus and saganaki being my favorite appetizers, the Greek fries are good for a side.Lastly, I've tried the baklava which was an excellent way to end the meal. I'm not a huge fan of cinnamon and this was perfect for me. Not too much, just enough.I love the food here and hope to continue eating here well into the future!

Olu Olamigoke: Hands down the best falafel I’ve ever had. An employee told me they make it in the traditional middle eastern way, and it shows. I got the falafel sandwich and it was excellent. I wish there were more topping options to go on the sandwich, but that didn’t stop me from going 2 days in a row.

A: I stumbled in here just wanting a gyro.This is definitely the place to go if you want a good gyro done traditionally. I opted for the spicy option. Not too spicy but added such a perfect touch of mildness to play with the taste buds before being cooled down by the perfectly balanced sauce. The fries weren’t too salty and everything was obviously fresh.The environment was absolutely kind and everyone here had a wonderful smile on their face. Such a great environment. I really can’t say enough good things about this place.This is one of those small places you don’t want to miss out on!

I really like the vibe they set in there. We ordered apps but they brought every thing out at the same time with the exception of the salad that came with the meal. We split the Gyro platter with was more than enough for two. We also ordered the Greek fries and two spanakopitas. Just as I hoped everything was hot and tasty. My only criticism is that I live there to be a little more texture around the edges of my gyro meat. I will be returning!

Hemlina Das: The food here is really good. The falafel is very moist and soft. As soon as I tried their food for the first time, I became a regular customer. However, one day I asked them I need plastic spoon and fork, they said “why do you need spoon and fork for the food that I order?” It seemed like they are trying to be frugal with the spending of fork and spoon. I understand that with inflation everything is expensive, however treating customers like that is not fair at all. This is why I will never step into the restaurant.

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by the typical setting for a Greek restaurant, complete with clean Roman Empire pillars and grapes, which really set the tone for the meal.Our waitress was prompt in greeting us and seating us, which immediately made us feel comfortable and at ease. The entire restaurant, including the bathrooms, was also impressively clean and well-maintained, which added to our positive impression.For appetizers, I ordered the spanakopita and baklava for dessert. The spanakopita was baked and grilled to perfection, resulting in a light and flaky taste that I absolutely loved. The baklava was warmed, which really made the flavors pop and added an extra touch of deliciousness to the dessert. It was definitely a highlight of my meal.We also ordered the lamb gyro with fries, which did not disappoint. The lamb was tender and had great flavor,which was a testament to the restaurant's expertise in preparing the dish.While many believe that canola oil is a healthier option for frying food, I believe there are some concerns about its safety and potential health risks during production. I was told because they were busy it was going to be 45 min and I understood I should've planned better on a Friday at 7PM. Angela Bannister: Just picked up 3 lamb chop meals for myself and my kids and OMG! I ordered over the phone and the lady that answered was very helpful. This was our first time trying this place and I had lots of questions that were answered thoroughly and with patience. Each to go container was labeled correctly and we got everything we asked for.The bread was so buttery and delicious, especially when dipped in the salad oil. Before I knew it I had sucked down two pieces while unpacking the food! Lol The chops were cooked PERFECTLY (medium), the potatoes and green beans…it was all just GOOD! I can’t believe I’ve lived around corner from this place for years and just now trying it. I will definitely be back!It was my sons first time having lamb chops and he was pleasantly surprised. The staff there was very friendly, the place looks great too.I absolutely loved the coffee. The breakfast dish I had was delicious too, and unlike any other breakfast option downtown. Very flavorful. Muted Xpressions: This isn't my first time visiting this establishment, as I used to live relatively close. I decided that I wanted something quick and not carb-filled while in the middle of rush-hour traffic. I figured I could not go wrong with a nice gyro salad so I made a quick stop. The restaurant is connected to little grocery store where you can shop for Middle Eastern delight. It's very nice to be greeted with a pleasant smile, customer interaction what's a certified 10. Service was rapid as well 10 I guess my issue was with the quality of the food itself. On surface-level it was very aesthetically pleasing to look at, it had unusual weight to it so I know that they weren't being stingy, off to a good start. It's humongous salad came with one small container of tzatziki sauce for the amount of salad which I weighed and it was almost 2lbs. The salad also came with one pita bread. The salad itself had a nice taste, my issue with the salad is that the cucumber and tomatoes were over right, the olives were not pitted so if I wasn't careful I probably would have broken a tooth and of the two lbs it's was 1.75lbs of iceberg lettuce that I could do nothing with. Eric Young: Got the lunch buffet at 2pm on a Saturday. Everything was delicious and worth the price. Good pieces of lamb and all the stews were excellent and not just cheap filler. The coconut cake was particularly good.
