Andrew Stevens: Yo, this is the best place around! They take walk-ins/call-ins. Lovely Alice will either answer your call or greet you at the desk, and get you started with a hair expert. All the hairdressers are professionals. I went in there multiple times as a walk-in/call-in, and I’ve had different barbers cut my hair every time. They were all fantastic! So, Eba whose name is pronounced Eva because in Spanish B makes a V sound, can I get a no mames wey?! I told her I have a bachelor party I’m going to, then went on to ask if I should bleach my hair, and she said yeah, that would look good. She finished my hair and came in early the next morning to do dye it. She was right, it looked so good! She nailed it! She even touched up a bit on my cut and yoinked my nose hairs too. I’ve never looked so good or breathed so well in my life! That bachelor party was the best time thanks to everyone at 4:59 Barbers! Here’s some pics of my hair from last month and right now.

Vernon cut my hair and did a great job. He took his time and the results showed. It wasn’t super cheap, but worth every dollar. Won’t be going anywhere else from now on.
Robert Rolfingsmeyer: This was a great experience! There were some minor rescheduling issues at first but I get it. After the whole COVID-19 mess and people rushing in to get their hair done, mine was going to take some extra time due to being a “tailor-made” first time cut. So that wasn’t a big concern for me.But once I got in the chair and I showed him the pics of the cut I was referring to, he nailed it! At the end of the day (my appointment was for 7:15 or 7:30) this man spent an hour and a half getting it just right! Next time it should go quicker now that he knows what I’m looking for and there are some adjustments I’D like to make, nothing that he did wrong. Just minor things that I think I’d like to make.Went to a friends house right afterward and he immediately said, “Wow! He did you RIGHT!” He sure did! Smooth experience and definitely will be coming back. Would recommend to anyone looking for quality and care.

Terry Terhune: They are the best barbershop for men by far. They also does women’s hair too. Ask for Vernon, he is by far the best barber I have ever had and I am retired and that says a lot. There are other stylists there too. They rate a 10, but 5 is the highest score they can get. Their average score of 5.0 out of 5.0 speakers for itself when over 100 customers scored them. Appointments are needed so plan accordingly.

Joseph Wells: This review reflects my two personal experiences. I would give him 6/5 stars if possible. Men's cut and Beard Style/Trim. My cut was fresh and made me look like a stud on my wedding day, by far one of the best haircuts of my life with regard to styling. My beard would rival Tony Stark. His charges I felt were fair for the experience. Beard was trimmed with single blade and shaving cream was warmed. Overall I felt very no-nonsense "man-pampered". If you're in Indy and need a fresh look for a special event or just because, definitely worth your time and money!

In fact, I have learned more in the past year about how my hair grows than in the 40+ years of getting my hair cut. Vernon's patience for working with clients is matched only with his passion for being a master barber. If you have normal to complicated hair, Vernon is the barber for you. He took excellent care of me on my first visit, which was right before my wedding, and has been taking care of me since. I cannot imagine another barber with his skills, especially with clippers. Highly recommend without reservation!

Maybe I thought he needed something to go right cause he’s so angry but the fact that my head still hurts is too much. This dude may have damaged my scalp.

Nick Parks: Went there today and got by far the worst haircut I have ever had. My wife cut my hair during covid and did a much better job. I asked for a zero fade and mentioned 3 times that I wanted a lower fade. The zero went all the way up the side of my head and is completely uneven from one side to the other. The top is a total hack job. It's not even fixable. The barber was extremely aggressive and hard with the clippers and my skin is totally red and irritated and it felt like I had a really bad sunburn when i toom a shower. Was so hard and aggressive I was pulling away in the chair.I find it hard to believe this guy has any training in cutting hair. He didnt say a word the whole time and was in a huge hurry and couldnt be bothered by taking the time to make a nice cut. Your work is advertised on my head. Terrible cut. I will say I did see some others getting good looking hair cuts by other barbers

Brianna Mccart: Emily is so sweet and kind! My son is on the spectrum and hates getting haircuts. The last time we tried to get his hair cut somewhere he cried and refused to finish. After that, we just let it grow but it became hard to manage. I called and asked if they could be gentle and patient with him and not only was she patient with him, but she also took breaks to blow dry his hair and even let him come at the end of the day so no one else was there. So, so thankful for making his hair cut experience the best he’s had. Whether you’re descriptive, or show a picture, the results are accurate to what you want. I drive from downtown Indianapolis to their castleton location.. because it’s the only barbershop I know will do a great job, every time.
Cameron: Moved here a year ago from Chicago where I had a fantastic barber, since moving here I’ve seen 5 different barbers at different shops and it just wasn’t what I was used to. Stopped by Machos and got the best haircut since moving here.I believe his name was Raphael. He was focused the entire time, paid attention to detail, and most importantly took his time to blend in the fade. I didn’t leave with tiny hairs all over me either. Styled it at the end too. This is how it’s done.It was honestly refreshing to finally find a good shop.

Machos Barbershop recently started being open on Sundays, which I love because I work 2 jobs and Sunday is my only real day off. They close at 5 and I came in around 4:30. I wasn't going to ask for a specific barber considering closing time was almost here. To my surprise, I ended up getting Carlos anyway. He took me back about 15 minutes before close with no hesitation. We had a good time chatting and he nailed my haircut. My hair is very particular, so we didn't finish until almost 6 o clock. I have done business with hundreds of business of all walks of life, for 54 years in Indy and surrounding cities as a residual contractor. I have never be so disrespected. I was told that They would not service a Veteran with out an appointment. Then he said they had no phone to call for an appointment or a way to call., I had to do it on an app. that he showed me on his phone. He had no business cards. And only took Cash. I had my Disable Vet hat on for an appointment at the local VA hospital. I have always been so friendly to the middle eastern people. They were very rued to this old white man disable veteran that was referred there Even thought they have walk-ins welcomed; on the front outside wall, they did not except walk-ins. There were at least 5 barbers sitting in there chairs punching on there cell phones. I barber cutting someone's hair said he would take me after he had his lunch. I give them a 0 for profiling me.

I was at this barbra shop and my experience was great. Today I book an appointment and the barbra didn't show up. I tried to call the owner he never answered. The was a barbra that said he would cut my sons hair. 2 hours later he tells me he can't do. They made me waste 2 hours of my time. Then he told me i can wait another hour. This was the experience I have every had. I won't never come back
