Very much victim blamed on my forgetfulness and the fact that someone used one of my cards (thus stealing my money) because i forgot it in the movie theatre at the last showing of the day (ending at 1AM=no more people but employees). Nick Harris: Waited 2 hours for an officer to arrive after my car accident on March 31st, finally got them to prioritize it after calling 3 times. Once the officer arrived she was very fast and I was probably only there for 5 minutes.

Brianna Smetzer: Apparenrlt the Marion Metro PD no longer will help you in your car if you lock your keys in due to “liability suits.” I find this incredibly asinine as civilians pay for help of the PD through their taxes. White Buffalo: Some lowlife "lady" stole my phone right off my counter at work. I work at a dealership and we not only had her I.D., her registration to her car with her address we also had her on video committing the crime. I hand delivered all this to the police and they said someone get in contact with me. After 6 months guess what happened? NOT A DAMN THING! obviously I should not of even involved the police and instead should of went to this ladies residence and gotten my phone back myself!!!

I have contacted the office daily since the 12th and left multiple messages for the Supervisor and the Commander. I have not got a phone call back yet. Then I got a copy of my report and it says my case is close and the value of my items stolen was listed at a $1 value. Tell Me how? I had over $3000 worth of items stolen from me and my kids. I understand I live in a black community had this happen in Broad ripple it would have been on the News or they would have a whole search team looking for the intruder. I am a single mother and my children deserve answers. When you try to do things the right way and report it to the police and try to let them handle it. Then it gets pushed to the side. This is why a lot of things are kept in the street and people retaliate. Do you Jobs people. My next step is to go above the whole East district Office.

Now I know that this is a controversial thing to do, but it's constitutionally permitted. My unpopular speech is protected explicitly by the first amendment.Three police officers came and harassed me for over half an hour, threatening arrest without basis, implying that I would be facing the "paddy-wagon," and lying about the legal standards which apply.This show of force and intimidation against a public display of prayerful opposition to abortion was uncalled for. No one was harassed or intimidated by my presence. No one asked me to leave or step away. The police came because the employees of Planned Parenthood called them, and then the police took over from there to push for their own agenda. Instead of protecting everyone's rights and privileges, the police tried to silence me by threats and intimidation.Completely unprofessional.

Stephanie Frost: On duty officer in a marked crown vic almost hit rear ended me while trying to stop for train tracks and wouldn’t back off until I pulled off the side of the road. I had to keep going when the train arms were coming down to avoid a collision. Called and spoke with 2 supervisors who said they can’t do anything because I can’t read stickers on a car that flies by me. No lights or sirens, no accountability.

Charlie Wylonis: We had a quartet of young gents walk by and throw some glass bottles at our home, after asking them to stop they laughed and continued. Then started sauntering on down the street and so I called in the Boys in Blue. A bicycle officer showed up first, so soon after the call I think he broke Lance Armstrong records. Two other officers materialized out of nowhere to assist moments behind. Even though these slippery punks evaded us this time, let it be known: IMPD Downtown is here, and they come fast.

Travis Thomas: Off-duty officer Young pulled me over and gave me a ticket in lawrence off-duty and had a bad attitude and his breath smell like alcohol. It's crazy how unprofessional he was to me. He also stated "since my uncle is a Detective from East District" tell him to asked about me from downtown District.

Eric Smith: The leaders of this department are not professional, and I truly question their ethics. I have left NUMEROUS voicemail and emails to those in leadership positions, only to get no response. My situation is serious and I get NO RESPONSE! I assume others' complaints fall on deaf ears. My complaint only addresses unsafe road conditions outside of my home. One person has died, lots of accidents, etc. I have a 6 year old. Neighbors have kids. This district does not care. No one will respond. I will look into taking the law into my own hands, and see what I can do.

Marla Short: received several phone calls and personal visits from correction officers concerning someone who our family has a restraining order on to inform us that the monitoring device wasn't working and that Person has an arrest warrant out. The Corrections officers recommended that I call the non emergency number and request police be with me when I went to check house. Immediately upon arrival the policeman told me that they weren't going to do this everyday ( I don't recall asking for that) and that they had already done runs to this house before (yes 3 months ago when we were actively being victimized) and this was a waste of time for them and we should've just called a neighbor to check. Well as the perpetrator had physically attacked us I didn't think asking neighbor to put themselves at risk was a good idea. It was made very clear that they wouldn't be helping me again. Once at the house I was told to be quite and listen as I had just wasted 2 valuable policemans time to do something I could've done myself. I then told them to listen as I had just been following the advice of the corrections officers who came to my door searching for the perpetrator. Officer Cox never said anything. It was Brown (think that was his name as I tend to ignore people who belittle me-as I am far from being a child) who disparingingly spoke to me. It has been 3 months today since any police officer had been requested to that address and that was because the perpetrator had been in jail. As a former teacher for IPS I have a lot of respect for the police. But this is my second time being spoken down to by Sgt/Officer Brown (sorry once I lose respect I don't bother paying attention to the little things). God forbid I ever need the police from the SW district again as I would hate to waste their time. I would rather bleed out than have Brown have to do anything for me. As one of the victims (the other is a 73 year old retired IPS teacher and the 3rd a 43 year old teacher). Our run Ins with the police of the SW district have left us with a bad taste in our mouth. Public servant to public servant here is some advice. You were disrespectful and ambivalent in January to me as a victim and that hasn't changed --ALL LIVES matter. Learn some people skills. I certainly hope you wouldn't have spoken in the same manner to my 73 year old mother but based on my now 2 experiences with you and how you have presented yourself I have to go with-ya you probably would have. BTW writing this was not a waste of my time. I look forward to sharing more

Joe H: I called IMPD a little over a week ago because a guy pointed a gun at me. When IMPD arrived the guy was gone and they told me if i see him again to call them back today I seen the guy and again he was armed with a gun. When IMPD arrived they were acting like they were mad i called them the guy was still there and before they even stopped the guy they started asking me if I filed a police report. I told them I think I did and told them what happened and they were acting like they did not even want to go talk to the guy and asked me what I wanted them to do about it. Eventually they did go talk to the guy and turns out he is carrying a fake guy in a holster like it's a real gun. They told me there is nothing they can do because i dint file a police report. I thought they would make a report the first time I called them I gave them all my information and told them what happened. I guess IMPD don't take these kinda crime very serious

They have a huge burden with the crime level in our city but are attempting to serve in the best of their capacity. Hats off to all the officers who serve us! Martin Yoli: One night there were two very loud homeless drunks. They we’re in this storage room next to my apartment. No one is supposed to be in there.This disturbance was going on for around 3or4 hours very early morning. I called the police; they responded within 10 minutesand made them leave. They also said I could call them anytime! The police were Courteous and helpful!

My 15 year old son was trying to stab himself I called the non emergency number to get some assistance my son is 6 ft. + I am 5 ft nothing I was trying to take the knife away he kept grabbing other knives and than some pills. Sarah DeBlieck: They seem a little understaffed and the set up of their main desk area is really weird. The desks are so far back from the little hole you're supposed to speak through and you basically have to yell for them to hear you. Also never answers the phone.

The drag racing that goes on nightly on East St./US 31 in front of Southern Plaza has been going on for years, has caused deadly accidents, is widely known about, AND has had ZERO police interference. The large groups of racers, rubbing their engines loudly, and zipping in and out of traffic dangerously have no fear of being stopped because there is absolutely no police presence in the area. If a police officer does happen to drive by, the racers continue what they're doing because they are not afraid. They know the police aren't going to stop them. Are the police being paid off or something? I cannot imagine seeing this happen anywhere else in the city except maybe the Eastside, in the even seedier areas, but DEFINITELY not the Northside.

Destinee Surber: I wish I could really give zero stars. I was involved in a hit and run with an impaired driver on 6 July 2019. I gave the description and plate number to the vehicle and the cop said he couldn’t run the plate because he didn’t know what kind of Indiana plate it was. It took them an hour to even get to scene of the accident. Now I’m stuck with medical bills and car repairs until this person is found.

becky ehman: I was the victim of a domestic dispute. The absent minded lady that came out asked my info 3 times because she forgot she already had it. Then forgot everything i told her although she was at least pretending to write it down. I was bleeding in 7 different places and am bruised from head to toe. All he had to say is i hit him although i didnt and had evidence on my phone where he got a black eye. She write the report up as mutual combat. This was the second incident of domestic abuse from him. Both of the reports are so horribly written. They add in things that never happened and leave out very important details. Like him stealing my title to my car and fkrging his info on it. And the other one that they questioned my son and not a single thing about that was in there. Or the picture that was taken of my phone he threw in the neighbors yard to prevent me from calling...which obviously was pointless. I went to the office because i couldnt get anyone on the phone and the woman at the counter was so rude. I actually had a dispatch supervisor on the phone with me who heard her. She was appalled. I now know why there are so many shootings/killings in the area. If the police wont do their job then people take matters into their own hands. Its really sad. Supposed to protect and serve but lie and do nothing.Edit 11-14-18Of course after a thorough investigation it has been found that the police did no wrong. Surprise surprise always watching out and covering up for one another. Its such a shame.

a k: I watch the officers drive around my neighborhood all day every day, doing absolutely nothing. Then night time rolls around when there's an actual need for them to patrol the area due to crime, drugs, homeless people loitering and going through garbage, and TONS of loud & dangerous street racing. Not a single cop in sight over here at night.

The north district (and chances are , all of the other departments in the greater Indianapolis area) are just plain terrible , indeed .. You never get in touch with anyone in the office , all you get iz an automated system asking you to leave a message .. And you never get a reply .. Period . And should you do become lucky enough to get someone on the phone , it'z usually some upstart . And boy haz she got a smart mouth on her . Cassandra Lott: This was my 1st time dealing with Lawrence PD. I spoke with the admin staff and a dispatcher in an attempt to file a break-in report. They both sounded like they hated their job, and the dispatcher was very rude in his tone, making me sound stupid for calling because "reports aren't done over the phone" and I needed to be at the location of the incident when reporting. I'm new to this, and not everyone knows the rules. Advice to the staff: show more compassion.
