MICHELLE HAYES: I’ve been training at FBD for a number of years. I was a collegiate athlete and after graduation looked a long time for a workout facility that offers “quality” workouts, not “quantity”. If you want great training and a kick a## workout it’s the place to go.

This gym is terrific and just what I needed to kickstart a fitness routine that had gotten...routine. The place is spacious, well-equipped, light, and very clean. Training staff are experienced, well-educated in their field, and have been at the gym for years. No high turnover of clients and staff here. This team feels like a family and likes each other and clients. The atmosphere is friendly, motivational, and fun. You’re greeted by name, work every time with the same trainer, and you can expect varied routines and a personalized approach to your own fitness. Your first experience is a private meeting with your trainer to discuss goals, needs, concerns, past experiences with fitness. Workouts are tailored, challenging, fun, and effective. I’ve made measurable progress in cardio, balance, and strength in just over a year, and I’ve been weight training for decades. Trainers keep careful notes and adjust workouts often. Virtual training is available if you travel (or when a pandemic strikes your community). Clients range in age (teens to octogenarians) and work individual or in pairs (friends, spouses, mother/daughter, etc.). Yoga classes and other specialized services and competitions are available. What I love most is the upbeat, energized, positive feeling of the place. I want to go workout, and I enjoy being there with the people. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! It’s a game-changer.

Krista Gremos: Indy Performance Authority is a great place to train and get in shape. Tyler and Dan know what they are doing and strive to keep it fun and interesting. My husband and I started working out with Tyler in August 2016. I had never worked out with a trainer and was always afraid to try. No way would my overweight, out of shape, middle-aged body be able to keep up! However, Tyler tailored the workouts to our abilities so I never felt like I was lagging behind. I started noticing a difference in my energy levels and abilities within the first few weeks. I began taking the stairs more, walking at lunch, swimming, and riding my bike again (after rarely doing much besides yoga for over 10 years). In fact, I did my first bike commute to work (22 miles round trip) six weeks after I started working out.I am happy to report that we have both lost weight (65 pounds for me and 15 for the hubby). In addition, Tyler's workouts are building muscle, improving our strength and coordination, and increasing our stamina. We love that the trainers customize the workouts to the individual and their outside interests (swimming, biking, and hiking in our case). We are currently working on power lifting which is a lot of fun. I am going to try my hand at stand up paddle boarding in a couple months when we go on vacation. An activity I thought was out of my reach. I no longer think anything is out of my reach if I try hard enough. Vivian Pliquett: This was my first experience with personal training and I am so glad that I chose Mike. I was pretty nervous when I first started because I didn't know what to expect but he made me feel very comfortable. He is very knowledgeable on different workouts and what works best for your specific goals. He is very relaxed and does not push you beyond what your body can handle, but still does a great job pushing you to do what you can and to hold you accountable. He also explains what he's having you do as you do it so that you can do it on your own as well. With his help I have been able to create a workout routine and I have already started to see results. Any questions that I had he was able to answer and help me to better understand how to do the workouts. You can tell that he really cares about his clients. I would recommend him to anyone looking to start personal training.

I’m stronger than I’ve ever been in my life, and feel good.We are all tired sometimes, twist something or sleep on an arm weird. If you aren’t feeling yourself, he can work around, say, a sore shoulder, or if something hurts. I believe my trainer is my partner in my health and body, it’s my duty to say something. Likewise, if you want more challenge or have advanced goals (I’ve seen some of his performance-oriented clients who are athletes with specific goals and needs) then share those. Either way, it’s a partnership, one where you can feel supported, encouraged, and challenged—while in an environment that he won’t push you into an unsafe zone or crazy exercises where you can get injured.Mike works out of the gym at the Precedent office park (between Keystone and Allisonville on 96th), a private gym available to Precedent business park businesses (and trainers like Mike who train here). I work out around 9:30am three times a week, and it’s quiet with only a few other personal training clients there. There is a decent locker room and showers available.

CA: I have trained with Mike Ewing the owner of Indy Personal Fitness for at least 2 years. He is very thorough & has made sure that I am challenged and that I will not get injured in the process. (my goal has been to build muscle, and reduce fat). He explains proper form and tells you how each exercise is challenging your body (which muscle group & where you should feel it) and how to have your body positioned, along with the proper weight for you to lift. You will be able to increase the lbs that you are able to lift, in time. And seeing that progress feels good! Finally getting past a certain plateau! You will build endurance, and be sweaty! He is not only educated and experienced in personal training with all types of fitness levels, he also has a master's degree in psychology. (as a business professional, I can appreciate that he is not only a certified trainer in his field, but is also educated in other areas as well). Mike cares about his clients. He is affordable and very competitive with pricing and RELIABLE. When my schedule is busy it is important fir me to be able to count on my appointment. He is always there and always on time. It is cool that he works with different ages and fitness levels, too and that has always given me further confidence in his experience. I have seen people come and go before and after me. A guy in his early 20's, one in his 40's, an older guy that goes for physical therapy, etc. Here is an example of what a difference a good trainer can make: I have been able to increase weight considerably when I am lifting versus when I started. And, when I injured my back from moving boxes, etc during a move, he recommended specific stretches and showed me how to correctly do them. I would have been scared to try to do anything on my own with the pain, and those stretches truly saved my back and helped so much! (and I was back to myself in just a couple of weeks and doing my regular workout training with Mike). If you want to take your training to a new level or are a person just starting, and want to learn new exercises, techniques, any types of free weights lifting, machines, and do it safely and correctly, go to Mike. You can ask any question at all and you won't feel intimidated doing it. He cares and wants to you succeed! If you want people to notice that your arms look really toned and comments like "you have been hitting the gym hard, your arms look amazing!", get started! If you are lazy, don't want a challenge, or to work to change your body then you won't do well.

Michael Dixon: The owner has asked to have comments made to improve their ranking on Google. There is so much equipment coming in new that keeping everything clean is a task. When finances permit to improve cleaning I'd look into electro static dust collectors to be installed in the heating and cooling ducts along with an ultra violet light system that destroys any air borne virus. I'd manually dust all higher up horizontal surfaces, fan blades, girders, anyplace dust would accumulate. That cleaning would usefully be repeated as needed or when dusts were observed. It might be feasible to install odor eaters that clean interior air by circulating it-odor isn't a problem but everyone is in Peak for their health. If they incorporated ultra violet cleaning-that would be a plus because people do attend gyms not knowing that they are spreading a disease. Essentially, providing clean filtered air would be a major plus to any gym. "Working in" doesn't happen here because of so many pieces of equipment-circuit training thus is a plus-never have to wait on a machine to open up.

It definitely sets the bar, no pun intended.ORIGINAL REVIEW: Really frustrated with my experience so far and I’ve been a member for a month. Twice now I’ve tried after hours access and the fob reader has been down. I drive 15mins to this gym so it’s irksome to not have access when I pay for it.The member portal shows that yoga classes are free to members but this is not the case. Not a huge deal, but not a pleasant surprise.The gym is consistently over 85°F or warmer. First they said it was a broken AC, but nothing changed despite the AC allegedly being fixed. I know some people deliberately seek to sweat gallons, but I’m not one of them, and working out in high heat gives me migraines. So I’m pretty much stuck paying for a membership I can barely use.I moved back to Indiana from Texas and even there the gyms stay under 75 year round.Unfortunately, not many gyms offer 24hr access around Indy so i feel stuck (and it’s not really any cooler in the gym at night). Praying to every deity that they fix the issue, because the current setup is unacceptable. I think Brad knows that, because he sounds a bit exasperated with the AC “repair” work he’s been paying for and mentioned bringing someone new in to fix the issue.Hopefully sooner than later. Fingers crossed, because I really would love to stay with Peak.

If you choose another company to provide personal training for you or a loved one, you will be missing out on the best service, technique and quality I’ve experienced. I have been in healthcare for over 25 years and I can guarantee companies like GYM GUYZ Indianapolis are rare. From the initial evaluation I knew this was an excellent choice for my 72 yr old mom’s rehabilitation after critical heart surgery. Following a long hospitalization and a 3 week stay in a rehab facility, outpatient PT was prescribed. We tried this route, but for her it was just not the right fit. We decided to try in home personal training. Best decision we ever made and well worth the money. The personalized program Nick and Ian set up has far exceeded all strength and mobility goals we imagined. I never thought she would be able to live independently again. She was weak, using a walker and wheelchair and needed max assistance with her ADL’s. Because of the program and goals GYM GUYZ set up for her, she is preparing to move back to her home in Michigan in 3 weeks. She no longer needs assistance to walk, is driving and shopping on her own and can independently take care of all her own needs. 77STILLER: Living in suburbs of Chicago I have been looking for someone to diagnose my problem and help correct it. It is a 3.5 hour drive to Ifast and a costly visit. I did not choose to go back like originally planned. Yes they have the whole environment of their people being extra nice but that's how they're trained to be and how should be anyway. As far as Bill, I felt he had an opportunity to go out of his way to help me and didn't....and I don't mean special treatment in any way. He is booked weeks in advance anyway so not in the position to need to do that. 1 star based on what I expected and the actual experience....this is not a review based on anger, just truth.
