Shapiro's Delicatessen: what do users think?
Joshua Wickham: Ive been going to shapiros for atleast 35 years. They have definitely fallen off like every other iconic indy restaurant. The sandwiches are smaller and more expensive than ever. The quality of everything is less over all. I'm not sure if it's worth it anymore.
Jason C: Rueben’s are amazing! I have had the Turkey Rueben and it is moist and piled high. Sour kraut between stacks of Turkey. The matzah ball soup is moist and tasty. It’s not cheap, but it’s worth it.It is like a large cafeteria, but the large selection is hard to beat.
Scott Reese: A nice getaway from processed fast food. A good home cooked meal.
Aaron Sadler: Great food from old world Europe. A bit pricey but worth it for a treat. Had the rueben and the German potatoe salad and I enjoyed it all.
Vanessa Kenworthy: Food was good, but not for the prices. We spent $48 on lunch for two and got a sandwich with chips, macaroni and cheese, a slice of cheesecake and a chef salad. Won't be returning.
Eric English: If sandwiches are your thing & you're spending time in Indy, you better hit this joint up for its Reuben Sandwich. I am not gonna lie, it'll lighten the wallet... It's kinda pricey but you'll be loosening your belt as they pile enough meat on there for a few sandwiches. Don't forget dessert! They're good!
Timothy Blieden: Are you kidding? It’s the best place ever!
Matthew Vitale: We came for brunch on a beautiful Saturday morning and they ran out breakfast food. I guess you can’t trust them for brunch.
Steven Pawluczyk: Shapiro s has great food. It's fresh, tastes good, and there's always a variety.Bakery items and deserts are soon tempting.
T Fisher: I was very impressed with this cafeteria-style deli. I had potato salad, a turkey sandwich, and a dessert. They put A LOT of meat on the sandwiches. It is definitely worth the money. The patrons were very diverse and interesting. It is a Jewish Deli and we absolutely loved it. It was recommended to us by a friend and she took us there. It was lovely. The deli was clean, well lit, and the bathroom was tidy. I got full really fast and could not finish my sandwich. I tasted the pistrami and we bought a roll of it and brought it home. Absolutely a wonderful experience and will be returning. This is our favorite deli. 4 of us went. Everyone but me got the pistrami. The desserts were also divine. It was a great experience and I give all the stars and wish I could give more. Thank you Shapiro's! Til' we meet again!
Becky Johnson: Great food and atmosphere. Love it!
Tyler Wardrop: An Indianapolis institution and for good reason. It's impossible to leave this place hungry. Highly recommend the Reuben sandwich and the baclava. Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
Brian Noonan: Just Like Manny's in Chicago worth ever penny
Michelle Chandler: Yummy
Trevor Adkins: Came here with my brother and had the Reuben and fresh fruit. Remarkable. Huge servings great price and down home atmosphere. Recommended for anyone
Aelox CEO: $20 for a sandwich with no chips and no drink is just way too expensive. I thought the sandwich would be at least like a footlong or something but it was just a small piece of regular rye bread. The sandwich tasted fine, but the size to cost ratio is off
Marquette Rubin: I hadn't been here in 10 years. The food was so good. I don't know why I waited so long to come back.
Shamashwan Isupk: Good ol Kosher food🔯😋🔯
Christina Marcolini: It's almost as much fun to watch the other customers as eat. My husband liked his beef brisket. I love their fresh rye bread. The apple pie was so good that I didn't share.
Bill Welch: I have a confession. I went to Shapiro’s 25 years ago and I was in line and didn’t know what to order and and they (probably pushing the New York deli vibe) started yelling at me to hurry up. I quickly ordered the first thing I saw and swore I would never come back…and didn’t for 25 years. Recently, a co-worker convinced me to overcome my aversion to being yelled at by restaurant staff and so I went back (and yes, I looked at the menu online first so that I would know what to order). I must admit, my 25 year boycott was a mistake. I have been back several times and now I love this place! The food is incredible. But I always look at the online menu before I walk in the door and come up with first and second choices…just in case.
Denny Stoel: Best Jewish deli since I was in New York city

Goose The Market: what do users think?
Whit Ninyo25: When I tell you that these are some of the best sandwiches in Indy… I mean it. Every times it’s a chiefs kiss 🏼. The customer service is always awesome as well. I look forward to the next time I’m in. PsDon’t forget about the Gelato mmm.
Sean Hawk: We took sandwiches for a Brown County picnic. They were great and large! Goose sandwich is solid. Muffuletta is good / semi traditional style.
Jason DeHaven: Love this place! Extensive selection of gourmet meats and cheeses and knowledgeable friendly staff, always leave happy. Plus the tiny bar in the basement has the best oyster mignonette and fun wines.
Brian Hall: Great spot for unique grocery items or unique sandwiches to go.
R.J.: I was just giving up on Indiana food options and got delivery from this place. Holy hell these are dang good sandwiches. The meat the cheese were perfect. I'm just going to live off of this place while I'm in town from now on.
Cindy Bradske: Food was literally thrown in the box. Was all beat up. Celery unrecognizable, something spilled all over everything, meat rotten.
Steve Sandoval: You gotta have a Batali sandwich! Great place for cured meats and tasty cheeses. Very knowledgeable butchers. Friendly staff and great atmosphere, especially downstairs in their cellar room. I usually have a sandwich or get some meats and cheeses for a picnic. They also have a good selection of Amelia's bread and RTE items.
Jim Clark: Nice local place. Good selection of productsNot for the $$CHALLENGED
Kristin C: Goose is a special place. The employees are so kind and always willing to go the extra mile for you. They are very knowledgeable about their products and full of excellent recommendations - from cheeses to cured meat to wine and beer. They also have plenty of uncured meat and seafood as well as a variety of prepared items in their cooler as well as produce and bread from Amelia’s bakery. And whatever they don’t have, they can get for you. Everything they carry is of impeccable quality. Their Batali sandwich is, frankly, a masterpiece. I don’t know if you’ve truly experienced Indianapolis until you’ve had one. I am also partial to Heidi Ho’s banana bread and Hen of the Woods red wine vinegar chips. But you really can’t miss. If you work at Goose or have worked at Goose, I would like to say thank you. Thank you for always making me feel at home and cared for.
The Beto's Show: Does this place sells kosher beef?
Fernando Santana: Phenomenal place! We had the Batali sandwich and it was delicious. Make sure you go downstairs to The Cellar for great wines and beers.
Muhammad Khalifa: Cozy neighborhood spot with some of the best sandwiches I know of in the city. The daily specials are worth keeping an eye on: Savage Blondes at this week's Monday oyster special were phenomenal and the fresh pasta on Thursdays has never disappointed. Looking forward to making this a regular haunt! Also check out the grocery parts of the store for excellent ingredients for at home cooking adventures.
Erin Barr: A bite of one of these sandwiches instantly transports me to any good sandwich shop in New York City. The quality of the ingredients is better than any sandwich shop I've eaten at in Indianapolis.
Quinn Knight: Fav lunch spot in Indy
Sebuin1972: Doubt I'll back. New to neighborhood. Said I had never been in a butcher shop like. Was trying to get an idea of what to try on their confusing wall. One lady was nice but not really helpful on any suggestions that wasnt a double helping $24 cheese and meet plate. No real discovery questions to guide. I can't deny they had a lot of interesting stuff just a bit overwhelming to a new person like myself. The other lady behind the counter was curt and seemed more annoyed to have to be bothered. Not a warm atmosphere customer wise. I'm sure if you're well versed it's great. But to a new customer it was confusing and unwelcoming.
John Doe: The guy working downstairs at the bar is very rude. Everything else was great though. He kind of spoiled my experience.
Mari Jane: Terrible experience. Rude girl was snippy when I asked ingredients on a sandwich. Bread was so stale I couldn’t chew it. Gross!
Tiffany: Got a great lamb burger here and a wonderful charcuterie plate! Excellent service; will definitely be coming here again to try more things
Nick Thompson: Sandwiches are great when you can get them. They post their current menu daily on their website. Today, they ran out of bread, but didn’t bother updating their website to reflect this. Annoying and a wasted trip for me and a few others I saw turn around as well.
Bob Mello: Get the Batali Sandwich and feel blessed by The Sandwich Gods that you are worthy enough to partake in one of Indy's secret treasures. Even when I get old and my intestinal tract can no longer handle spices, I will make an annual pilgrimage to drive the 18 miles from my house to taste this devine sandwich. I feel truly blessed to have eaten in "Heaven's Deli" today. I shall return soon. Bob's the name, Batali's my game.
Nikki Wright: I got the Batali sandwich and it was AMAZING! They even have gluten free buns which are excellent.I could eat that every day! The staff was very helpful and friendly. The store has an old time feel in the best of ways. I love this place and will absolutely be back.

Napoleon Maminta: Beautiful space. Great energy. Beautiful pastries. We ordered at 1130 am and at 1 pm no food. We changed it to takeout and still waiting. Jason, the bartender, was efficient and kind and provided a discount. I realize that it's newly minted so service will suffer. I will reassess in 6 months. This place has potential!!Ok ..got our food at 115 pm and received the standard " apologies" for the delay. Got home and tasted iron skillet steak with eggs Benedict. Tasty and very good, but one egg over cooked. I attribute this due to service issues from a new restaurant as well. AGAIN, I still believe in this establishment and will return. Looking forward to this restaurant DRAMATICALLY IMPROVING!!This the NEW LOCATION ON College Ave across from Root and Bone. Did the kitchen staff turnover as well?
Dusty Sheckles: Stopped by to grab a pastry and coffee. My croissant was frozen. Suboptimal.
Sunny Days: It was such a beautiful day, everything was excellent. I adored our server Layla. I've now tried every location and I can say that they each are exceptional. Amanda Kennedy: Overall, beautiful interior, excellent hostess, fast pre-bus rate, delicious food.Bad though? Service is wiffle - waffle. We went early (9am) to break in before the busy crowd and in hopes to ensure if we took the busy service out of it, we could focus on how well service is.Instead, our server forgot our sodas, wasn't sure about the differences in the lattes served, and when it came to getting the check closed, as if we wanted change. I work in the industry as well but when you are the front man of a business, please never ask if someone wants change. It's abrupt and kind of rude. We said we were good, but if they would have spent the extra 10 seconds bringing the change more cash would have been left.Overall, a 4 star. Staff needs to be trained not to push on tips (even if it's not intentional like it was here). Server training to ensure that they're not pushing would be fantastic, but man. This place for some potential. We will give it 3 months and come back. The shrimp and grits were fantastic though. Wow.Parking: Parking next to building but across intersection as wellDietary restrictions: Gluten, vegan options
Emily Aleman: Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Breakfast Sammie, French Toast LatteMore
Josiah McCruiston: Not as good as the other location. Had shrimp and grits that were expensive and just awful and I felt too bad to return the dish. Plus my Chai was diluted and wasn't worth finishing. I just should have gotten a pastry and been on my way.Food: 3/5|Service: 3/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Lisa M: Love the new space. Everything we tried was yummy but the almond croissant was the showstopperFood: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Lee Gaines: I don’t typically leave reviews (good or bad), but this was the worst meal I’ve had in awhile. My partner and I came for dinner. Maybe that was a mistake since this place is known for its brunch. And we’ve had brunch at their former location — it was solid, a little pricey but decent enough.Anyway, we were excited to try their new location. They’ve clearly put a lot of work into the ambience, which is nice. All the waitstaff were super friendly, too. Most of the menu is just… brunch basically… which is strange to serve at night. They have a handful of vegetarian options and maybe like one vegan option. And the dinner menu is ala carte and wildly expensive. We ordered:- sparking lemonade (it was decent)- the bread basket (a little bland and uninteresting and but fine)The dish that really did it for me was the mushroom tartine. It’s a $17 piece of toast covered with a handful of burnt mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and a hollandaise sauce that tastes like mayonnaise. I ate half of it and was deeply disappointed. My partner got the half chicken. He was similarly disappointed. It was small, dry, bland and he said it tasted reheated. I didn’t try it so I’ll take his word for it.We also ordered the mashed potatoes as a side. Like the tartine, the potatoes came covered with a handful of burnt mushrooms. The mushrooms were bad and the potatoes were bland.I want to support small business. And I really wanted to like this place. But they need to improve their dinner menu and the quality of the food coming out of their kitchen.Vegetarian options: Few options for vegetarians
Jim St John: Excellent Asparagus Soup, DeliciousDesserts an Entrees / had 1/2 Chicken & steak . Presentation Lovely.
Laura Elizabeth: French toast latte was very good. Love the decor. Very bright and lots of windows in the restaurant 🌳 the whiskey crepe and Tiffany omelette were also good 😋Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More

Matthew Adams: This place was good. The service is most excellent. The ice coffee was delicious and the chocolate muffin worth a try. I wasn't a fan of the soggy doughnut. Maybe it's other's thing though. It had hard sugar crystals all over it and was so so sweet. And like I said soggy. I'll try it again next time I'm in town. Maybe today was an off day.Wheelchair accessibility: They were accessible for my service dog and I did not have any issues.
Jacob Lafever: Good spot! I'm not sure why its so hyped up, maybe I'm just not a brunch person? The food and service was good, coffee was good as well. I would definitely come back but its also not my go-to brunch spot either. If you need a spot to grab breakfast, this is a good option!
