Shannon Sandridge: Everything in this shop is great quality! The owner clearly does an exceptional job of curating her selection. It's all books worth buying - no junky pages full of scribbles or barely-there bindings or the other vices you see in a lot of secondhand bookstores. It's a real vintage collection, at great prices, too!She also has a lot of nice reprints of classics like Jane Austen, along with notebooks, book paper flowers, and a bunch of other little things that make great gifts for book lovers. 10/10 would recommend stopping in!

She had a tub of waters available for anybody passing by, and was so knowledgeable about Indiana writers. I will definitely come back when I’m in the area again. Don Fucik: The owner is very nice, with an old school friendly service type caring personality full of enthusiasm and an eye for quality, rare, interesting gems of great variety. If you like great condition old rare books, postcards, album covers, and other neat stuff you will not find elsewhere, this is a must go and see place. The cats are cool too.

I picked up several unique postcards that had been mailed in the '40s - only a few dollars each. So glad to find such an awesome store in my neighborhood.

When Covid hit they transitioned to curbside pick up and even free delivery on certain days. Easter 2020 couldn’t have happened without their dedication to providing for their customers. Same experience selecting a book. What a giant asset to this Carmel/Zionsville community. And, they gift wrap! They were hits with the birthday boy AND his parents. Not sure how to get your child to live to read?! Then walk in and the owner will give you plenty of advice. She knows all of the books she carries. She will give you ideas for each child based on their interests. I love book stores, and this one is special. There isn’t an enormous collection but it is just right. She also carries wonderful toys. Perfect gift giving selections.

Andrew Pool: We've been to two birthday parties here for 3-4 year olds and they were great! The staff are extremely helpful, they have activities for the kids and keep changing the activities to keep the kids attention. Highly recommend, we will be having our kid's birthday here in the future if we can get on the schedule! The store is also very well stocked and has an amazing variety of books and toys.

Chantel Weigel: This is such a great, unique toy store. They have it well laid out so that there is always something for the kids to play with safely while I browse. It's nice for finding unique gifts and I really love that they have a selection of adult books at the front so I can browse those while the kids are playing. They also have some free morning programs a couple of times a week. Really, really neat place.

christina charles: I am one who loves to support small book stores, but this one is a scam. They have tons of books and a pretty great selection. Which can be overwhelming in a good way! When you look at the price it seems off that a used book would be $12.98. When you look at the original printed price it is $6.99. The $12.98 version has spills and pages falling out. I continued my peruse through the store in hope to find a steal, but there was not one single book in the three sections I’m most interested where the pricing made any sense. One book they had gotten from Half Price Books. The $3 sticker from Half Price Books was still in it. The Books on Sale price $12.98. The original price of the book $9.99. I don’t understand how a used book store has prices more expensive than the actual book. There are laws against stores being able to do this as it does fall under price gouging. If I were this store I would go through and see what the used price for these books is currently and fix the pricing to make sense.

It’s a true shame. We bought $80 worth of books and half of the covers are now ruined by their price stickers.

I purchased 5 books for $20, less than the price of one book at a store like B&N. Highly recommend this place and it was in a cute suburb of Indy, an easy 10 minute Uber ride from downtown

Jane Doe: Stopped by in search of some manga to add to my decorum. I knew the store was large and messy from reading previous reviews. Employees were very nice and helped me find what sections I was looking for. I was a little disappointed to find there wasn't a good pricing system. Some books were more expensive than when published, these aren't rare or anything. I found some books that were discounted from original price by 2 cents. And others of the same book, paperback and same condition for prices ranging from $9-$12. There are a lot of books to look at, mostly older romance novels but a decent selection of others. I wouldn't go in there looking for a specific title but rather a new find. Employees were very helpful though!

Got a reply to this review was told I was lying that I came in after they closed which is not true and that the lady working there offered to let me shop also a lie. She said I could shop if I knew what I wanted which I didn't I just wanted to browse. Also they threatened to ban me which go ahead ban me I do not care I would never come to your store again. Was not impressed the first time I came there and was not impressed this past time either.Update I never said she didn't try to help me so maybe you need to learn how to read. I didn't come in after the store was closed the door was still unlocked when I came in. There was a sign on the door that said your store was open until 8pm and it was only about 7pm almost a full hour before 8pm. So the only one about to be embarrassed is you. If you have footage then you'll see the door was unlocked she didn't let me in and I left cause I wasn't looking for something specific. Which I was told if I was not that I had to leave and the only thing that I said to your damn employee was that the sign on the door said that you closed at 8pm not 7pm. Above and beyond I think not I think having a damn sign on your door that post the correct time you close then maybe but not until then. Once again I'd like to know how you were closed at 7 when your sign says 8 seems to me like you all can't make up your mind when you close. Oh well though your store sucks anyways plenty of other nicer bookstore in the area and I will make sure people know to not come to your store.

Eric Penington: One of my favorite Half Price Books Locations. Just a warning though, whenever you trade things in, don't expect to get much for them. Try to sell your valuable stuff on eBay or another way. At a different location, I recently got low-balled on a large amt. of books and records. I still took the store credit because I was glad to get rid of the stuff and do think HPB is great. Update: Took another large box of books in and they only gave me $5. Probably only .10 per book and there were several like new cond. kids and young adult books in there. Half Price books… please be more fair to your customers and pay us more for our stuff!

Prices are, if not completely half, then at least less than actual market price. True joy is to find that some old good books amongst treasure troves of book shelves. You can also sell your books here. Good initiative. Must visit place for book-worms.

The woman who DID know what was going on informed me donations (if good enough for your standards!) are only accepted on the first Friday. She then repeated it not once, not twice, but three times. Thankfully my books met your standard of quality, so she took my donated books. Not one thank you or have a nice day from anyone. I will now gladly donate, purchase, and read elsewhere in Indy.

Drake Cloin: This place is a tucked away, inconspicuous gem right in the middle of a popular Irvington intersection. The attention to detail and use of every single space of the shop to display vintage goods, including records, tapes, clothes, cds, VHS, books, and almost anything in between is amazing. You can wander here for hours taking in the art that is the space itself, but then adoring art and literature from a plethora of local artist in plenty of different mediums to be found in every nook and cranny that is Irvington Vinyl & Books. Be cautious, however, as a predator is lurking quietly beneath and around you as you turn corners, and you would not want to miss dropping down and visiting the adorable cat that inhabits the space.
