Holcomb Gardens: what do users think?
Mely Cooks: This park is one of my favorite places. The Philosopher's Corner is a limestone Octagon of Truth & Freedom with carved quotes by great thinkers like Plato, Rousseau, Aristotle and Jesus who said, "The Truth shall set you free." The gardens offer seemingly hundreds of giant mature lilac bushes that smell like heaven in May. My only complaint is that there is often litter in the wooded areas which is true of all public spaces in democrat controlled cities and universities. It's a respect issue that degrades the park. I have personally gone to that park and done the cleanup and trummed back the neglected overgrowth in the philosophers corner. A student group renovated Persephone's Fountsin and painted it a garish bright swimming pool blue color, so It's now hideous.
Allison VonIns: I'm an Indianapolis wedding + engagement photographer & absolutely love to recommend Holcomb Gardens to my clients. It is such a hidden jem in the Indy area and has such beautiful grounds to take photos on. I'm frequently shooting here because it is so gorgeous!
T'Jay Jefferson: Early morning walks & bird/squirrel watching is the best here!
Nancy Smith: Lovely days of fall, Holcomb Garden.
Tracy Morris: Took some Family pictures there. Very nice.
Jose Avila: Either we miss the place or we have no idea why people like it so much.
Kim: Lovely place we did family pictures and pictures of my niece and her date for her homecoming
Fany Euceda: Relajante
Audrey Post-Bruce: Beautiful grounds on a summer day for some photos with our new puppy ☀️
Marti Ryan: The gardens are always beautiful clean and well manicured.
kelsi wagner: I love walking around Holcomb gardens. The bell tower rings every hour. There is a nice koi pond as well.Playground: No Public restrooms: No Off-leash dog area: No Picnic tables: No Barbecue grills: No …More
James Drake: Pretty place. Nice stop on a casual bike ride.
Phil Criswell: Holcomb gardens has been a favorite haunt of mine since attending Butler in the early 90s. I was really saddened and disappointed that all of the perennial beds have been removed except for the trees and long rows of clipped hedges. Butler can afford extensive remodels teardowns and new buildings, but can't afford to keep a staff to attend the once beautiful perennial beds?
Camille Graves: I've been coming here since I was a small child, and with a few recent exceptions, it really hasn't changed much since then. It's a small but idyllic little space in the heart of Indy, perfect for a picnic or resting/reading in the grass. The campanile and pond are added treasures. It also is an easy access to the Canal Towpath, with Newfields about a mile's walk to the south and Broad Ripple a few miles north. My only wish is that it were bigger and had more trees (but that can't really be helped).
Alex Alexides: Always a home away from home, and always in my heart.
Tom Havill: I've enjoyed this lovely garden, managed by Butler University, for 40 years. Unfortunately they eliminated the perennial beds this past fall, and sowed grass over them. This much reduces the appeal of the gardens. Other solutions should have been sought.
Cynthia Tillman: The scenery was so beautiful my boyfriend took me because I like places like this and I was so amazed it's like a Hidden Gem in our city loved it
Barry Blum: I've been going there for over half a Century. My dad's a graduate. My dog loves being there for his walks more so than anywhere else we've been to.Very peaceful. Has great trails to follow for those with strong legs.It has helped me very much to get my leg back in shape after my full hip replacement and the three years I struggled with my hip and knee prior to the replacement. Still need more surgeries with my knee and spine. But Holcomb Gardens is great to help recuperate.
Bryan Walters: Gorgeous place. Pro tip bring food for the HUGE koy fish
Nina Campbell: Lovely to visit.
Lavon Simpson: Beautiful place for pictures and keeping the kids explore!

Newfields: what do users think?
Jill Fewell: A couple of visits in the Springtime offers different glimpses of a blooming bounty of daffodils, tulips, redbud, dogwood, phlox, hyacinth and so many varieties of blossoming perennials galore. Stroll through the grounds and discover many different, peaceful spots. Sit on a bench and listen to the birds by a pond and hear nature erupt.Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Yes Price for adult entry $16–20 …More
Haley Scott: One of the employees followed us around for 20-30 minutes and was so close to us that she could hear us whisper. It was uncomfortable. The rest of the time we were aloud to walk around unbothered.
John D. Massey: This place is amazing! You could spend hours meandering around the exhibits, grab a cappuccino in the cafe and then wander the exquisite gardens outside! We went in on the first Thursday of the month as it was free admission!Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Not sure Price for adult entry Free …More
Alyssa Shoemaker: We saw the MONET show which had art projected on all the walls and floors which was epic, and they had beautiful music!! Their gardens are also beautiful, and they have a good café in the building too!! The coffee is strong though, be warned! They have such an amazing atmosphere and lots of exhibits! They even had a photobooth where you can put different art style filters over it!! Super neat!! Highly recommend for a fun day out!!

Kathleen South: The gardens are 5 stars, the museum ( for me) was a 3 star, most was just not my type of art but many people seemed to like it. danicka refugio: Had a photographer pass to go to the Newfields Spring Bloom event. Right after I got proposed to (literally right after. I said yes and we hug) a worker came up to us bugging us if we had a photographer pass. We could barely comprehend he was talking to us bc we were still on a high from our engagement. The camera our photographer brought is huge too (tripod and all) and we wouldn’t have been able to get past security without the photography pass. Very much ruined the moment. Please train staff to give people space. Needs better communication, transparency between coworkers and review of policies.
Amber Love: I have been a long time patron of the art museum but I'm disappointed by the direction the curation has taken. Many of the old favorites are no longer on display (it makes me ill to think of all the incredible artwork just rotting in the basement), and the ones left on display feel disjointed. I used to spend hours at a time in a single room, absorbing the paintings and enjoying the atmosphere, but it's different now. In an effort to bring in new artists, they've alienated many of their oldest fans. So many of the pieces feel like they were dumped randomly in a display case together--I feel like I've seen employees at Goodwill take more care in sorting like items. The spaces that had the most character, like the rotunda with the stained glass artwork and the early Indianapolis oil painting, leading in to the room with the O'Keefe lilies, is gone completely, and the lilies aren't even out. Overall, I'm really disappointed in the "new" museum and wish they'd return to the classic IMA exhibits.

heather nicole: Went here for my birthday. My husband and I absolutely loved it! Just make sure that you plan for a good chunk of time. Alana Harper: Everything about Newfields is beautiful! The beer garden is the perfect spot to spend a spring afternoon, and the food and drink options are excellent. During the holidays, Winter Lights is a must-see! It's the most amazing light display I've ever seen. Make sure to try the 21+ peppermint hot chocolate and/or apple cider.Visited on Weekend Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Yes …More
Madison Young: It is a very nice art museum. Decent food and coffee but way overpriced depending on the item. Vegetarian options whichbis nice. The lume exhibit was really epic. Very clean. Enjoyed interactive exhibits.

Lori Adams: Went to see the Monet and Friends exhibit which was great except that there was very LIMITED SEATING and I ended up having to sit on the floor which was uncomfortable and distracted from the presentation.Loved the interactive parts of the museum. Grounds were beautiful.

suga snaxxx: Looks like nice place for kids to play .. basketball court and sprinkler system.
ct ct: Nice gym. Great staff.
Vanessa Daniels: The ladies who work here are the bright light of the center. Always nice very customer service friendly. But the center is the only Indy Parks Center that doesn't offer Indy in Motion. Has things for seniors in the day but just basketball for the community. Not much for working people looking for affordable class options in the evenings after work. And what they do offer is always canceled. Shame especially since its in a predominantly black community.
Denelsia Walker: Thank you. I will be back to visit when not for a re-pass. Very spacious. I look forward to viewing the rest of the building. 🌹
Dewaynes Everyday Play: Decent, somebody should be collecting trash along the fence....its deep

Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park: what do users think?
Jill Fewell: Restrooms: Gender neutral
David Sites: Really a nice park!!
Shuying Sha: Love the color and shape. Practice dribbllibg of Basketball here would be fun
Westin Williamson: Had a great adventure here!
Juanita Bautista: Tranquilo seguro mucha naturaleza
Joni Heredia: It's a great city park next to the art museum.
James Owensby: Nice place to visit.
Wanessa Teixeira: Beautiful Trail around the lake. Just one thing, parking lot 3 felt I little bit unsafe.
Randy Smith: Restrooms: Excellent
Chloe Fox: A lovely space for an easy hike or a picnic, with cool art installments throughout
Anthony Cunningham: Great little greenhouse with some really cool plants! Definitely recommend
David Che: excellent garden
Devi: This is a beautifully maintained hiking path and lake. Lots of sculptures also surround the trails - the most popular of which is “Funky Bones”. There are multiple different paths you can take; each of which are scenic in their own ways. It’s quite pleasant in the early spring or early fall. Not too many bugs around that time, and there’s still a cool breeze with warm sunshine.
Michael McCrory: This is a cool park with sculptures all over it.
Lou Ann Hoster: Such an awesome place..
Gilbert Durham: Cool spot...great for photos or just hanging out. I wonder if there are more spots like it in the city...would make for a great tour to getbaround the city.
Chessa Rae: Super accessible park with tons of play structures. Also, garbage cans and bathrooms! I hope they continue to develop the park and add more green stuff.Playground: Many small art/play structures most suitable for kids 8 and up.Restrooms: 2 clean portapotties, including disabled access.Dog-friendliness: Dogs on leash!
SHIN eunjeong: Good food
DL G: Playground: Coming soon newRestrooms: Porta potties
Tim Arden: One of our favorite places to visit as a family! The grounds are beautiful and well kept. Lots of unique areas and features to explore.
Phil Criswell: Wonderful spot to hike in nature and art. Go all the way back to the visitors center to see a cool building, and use the only bathrooms in the park other than the port-o-lets near the parking lot. Since you can no longer walk all of the grounds of IMA (I refuse to use the new name) for free, this is the next best thing right next door. A bridge over the canal connects this park to the museum grounds if you are visiting there. There have been recent renovations to the park including removing a stand of second-growth woodland in line with the Lily house and returning that portion of the land back to native wildflowers and grasses. They have also shorred up the levee between the river and the park's lake, so you can now go all of the way around the lake again Whether you walk in, bike in from the canal path or drive to the park, it's definitely a great place to spend a few hours. There's is plenty of art to see, places to walk, or to throw down a blanket to read or have a picnic.
