Singh M: Scamming with two different menus with two different prices:I went there with my girl friend and this was our first time at this restaurant. They gave us a menu and we saw prices and ordered food accordingly. When we were given the check the prices were about 40% more on the check. I questioned that she showed us a different white paper menu saying the prices are not updated on the one that was given to us. I did not argue n paid for it. Then I decided to put a review and saw another review from 4 months ago regarding the Same situation with another customer which means they have been doing this with everyone since quite sometime.Second we asked for advise on appetizer and the server who is the family of the restaurant owner advised us the two different appetizers to me and my girl friend but brought same appetizers with 5-7 mins interval and said both appetizers are different when they were the same. That way they don’t have to prepare two appetizers and still get money from us.I have attached the photo of the food we ordered. Also these scammers have been doing the same things with other customers.

Miss Knowmer: I'd never been to City Market before, so I didn't know everything closed so early. When I got to Spice Box they were closing in a few minutes, the staff, Lizzy and Jheres, were extremely kind and friendly. Despite closing soon they didn't rush me, instead they let me sample different menu items and made recommendations on what I should get. The food was wonderful, but the amazing customer service made it even better.

Kalzzz: This is an Indian joint serving cart style food. Served in small portions it is not as filling as you would expect. Food was not that great but it is good enough for a quick bite. Worth a try. And not that expensive either. Their ‘Spice Box’ may not be as spicy for many. I ordered one and it wasn’t spicy at all. Staff there are friendly and they write little cute messages on your boxes☺️. Going here was some different experience.

Cindy Alfaro: This place serves delicious food! I am not a fan of too spicy, but I do like a little bit. I was very nervous about trying their "tacos" with the Indian twist, and I LOVE THEM! Also, the cashier person is always so sweet and nice. She takes the time to write a nice note or drawing inside the box lids, and I think that tells you how much they care about their product! Also, they are quick with the orders so when I need to quickly get something to eat, I come here.

Alyssa Stiffler: let me just start off with two words. LUNCH SPECIALS. I swear this place has taken my business away from every other spot located on Mass Ave with their lunch specials. First off, the soup that's served with the lunch special is so flavorful. I wanted to go to the kitchen and hug the chef! I could literally have that broth for the rest of my life and be content. Special shout-out to Johnny for the smile & the wonderful thorough service that he greets me with every time I pick up or eat in the restaurant. Their chicken pad Thai is to die for, and is robust with flavor. This is my luxury-preferred choice for Thai. My meal budget is usually careful, but when I’m feeling like I deserve a treat, I pair their pad Thai with a Thai tea, and I’ve never regretted it. It’s reasonable & I have no doubts about the quality of food or the quality of service I’ll receive. Thank you to the team members that know me by name & have thoughtful conversation when I’m there. It feels great to be served by you!

They didn’t say a single word to me other than an angry “thank you” at the end. We brought our food home and everything was undercooked. The pakora was completely raw inside.I thought, hmm, maybe they’re having a rough night. Then I looked at the reviews. First of all, the responses from the owner are extremely unprofessional and inappropriate. He frequently insults people and responds in, frankly, unhinged ways.But most importantly, if you read the reviews you will find multiple allegations that this restaurant is racist against black people. I believe the reviews because as a trans person, I was also ignored and treated poorly. It seems like they’re just straight up bigots.We will never return. Shalimar is way friendlier anyway.
