Collegiate Housing Services: what do users think?
Bunny: Room was not cleaned/prepared at all before my move in. I ended up having to buy cleaning supplies and getting on my hands and knees doing it myself.
Julie De Filippo: Save yourself and your student the headache of going through CHS for housing. They are absolutely horrendous and will charge you for every little thing, including treating the students like small children, which is very demeaning. We lost our entire security deposit after my son moved out, yet 3 roommates still reside in the apartment. Robin proceeded to charge us $10 for a garbage bag in the kitchen which was CLEARLY not my child's responsibility since he wasn't living there. Additionally, they charged $20 for a "tub that needed cleaning". There was $72 for stains on the carpet (maybe give the students a chance to rent a carpet cleaner BEFORE you start charging?). Pilling on mattress? Really? The mattresses are disgusting, and my son had TWO, yes TWO mattress covers on his bed. Let's talk about the $100 for the key's not being returned. Look above the door, the key is there where he was told to place it as he left the apartment. They are talking about scratched and water marked furniture, I can tell you first hand all this was there when he moved in, which was AFTER the three other people had been living there for quite some time. Also, don't ever threaten to call me, his mother, when he has his girlfriend over watching a movie. These kids are adults, don't waste my time.
Nic Thompson: It was simple and easy to move in
Coleton Fuller: It was really easy to move in
Angie Huffman: Collegiate Housing made things so much easier as my son moved from out of state. The entire process was simple. Everyone was nice and helpful. They truly want the best experience for everyone there.
John Aquilina: Quick easy and informative. The only thing is I didn't quite get the personal room at the beginning but that's not a super big deal.
desiree breese: CHS EXTON PA.Worst experience for a student out of high school if you could live off campus, my suggestion to you! My son was bullied by the other roommates he was living with was told he had to clean the house as the roommates sat back and bashed him CHS housing did nothing. The CHS inspectors in this location partied with his roommates and other students the CHS inspector had his favorites in every location. Very Unprofessional! I have inquired legal advice about CHS and hope that something comes out of this. How many more students are being bullied by the Inspector or their roommates and are afraid to speak up! Just my opinion, Best Regards to their future!
Eric Sullivan: Not bad
Trey Owens: Put in for housing 3 months prior to coming didn’t receive the housing I wanted so now I’m paying almost an extra 150 roommates are chill but taking everything into account for even attending UTI I don’t think I’d like being here to expensive in total cost
tanya lamo: This company has no regard for their students. NO REGARD! If you make housing arrangements through them, chances are your student’s apartment door will be revolving with roommates. When my daughter moved into her house it was filthy and dirty with a warped kitchen floor that took a long time to repair and we had to buy a vacuum and clean. There are 4 people crammed into a very small apartments, each paying over $900/month. To break the lease costs $2,000! Steer clear! My student will have had 5 different roommates within 6 months and now there’s another one moving in. Their suggestion is that she has to transfer to a different house if she doesn’t like it. If they can create a stressful environment, they will and make you feel as if you should not have concerns. Try to connect with other students before buying into this headache ! Avoid at all costs! AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!!!!
Ethan Day: Oil stains and two broken doors. As well as moldy expired food that has been left in the cupboards for around six months.
joe boyd: I used collegiate housing from November 2013 to May 2015 Glendale Arizona was total nightmare for me I really wished I've done my research and read reviews before I sign the lease. I didn't realize they put you with 3 other roommates and charge top dollar for rent. Worked at Walmart full time just to support myself and had roommate who I shared same room with was heavy snorer ear plugs didn't work i asked collegiate for transfer they could care less about my situation. Almost 2 years I worked full time and went to school full time with almost no sleep i definitely learned my lesson do your research
ben pettit: Overpriced. I can hear all of my neighbors and planes landing. No money put into insulation or sound deadening clearly.
iHe: Stained carpets, stained walls, broken bathroom towel hangars, needles, pin tacs and fish hooks embedded in carpets, stained/dirty bathtub, broken lights/lack if lights, broken kitchen chair, leftover pantry food from previous tenants, broken bedroom door handle, and the smell of cigarettesThese are just a few things my roommates and I walked into. After rigorous cleaning and maintenance, and it was time to move out, we were still billed $90 each.10/10 would NOT recommend...
Angie Sanchez-Hostetter (Angie Sanchez-Hostetter): Under no circumstance should you rent from this organization! They are some of the most unprofessional individuals I have ever experienced. They will charge you for every inspection they do as well as, lock you out of your account so you can't pay, then charge for fees for not paying!! Please think twice before signing any lease with this place!!!
Jack Patterson: My son attends school in Mooresville, NC. We contracted with CHS for his apartment. Would not do again. They can move you to another apartment halfway through the school year and there is nothing you can do about it. Very costly to get out of their contract. read the fine print when using CHS. Rooms are small for two roommates per room.
Zach Fancher: Chs sucks if you ever have a problem with the apartment good luck on getting them to get someone out there to fix it. When I moved out I made sure the place was spotless because I heard story’s of them charging people for stuff like that, then a month later after moving out I get a text that my balance is over due that I had no acknowledge of a balance on there so they charged me without even telling me about it. But don’t even get me started about the prices to share a bedroom just save your money and don’t use chs.
Alex Wolk: Completely incompetant first roommates they gave me one of them assaulted me. which they did nothing to the other person even though I have a video of it. then they moved me and its all good then they randomly decided right before I graduate that I had to move again. to a worse apartment without a washer of drier and said that my rent was going down but they are still charging me the amount as if I was still in the nicer apartment. went and talked to them and they told me nothing that they can do. I would not recommend them as they are completely useless all they are good at is taking peoples money
Easton Village: I absolutely love working with Priscilla and Tina in Boise. They are amazing, always a joy to work with and very professional. Not only that but they are on top of everything and always willing to work with me in whatever situation. What a terrific team you have in Boise!!
Lester Plank: Floors, counter tops, stove top were dirty upon move in. Washed up the floor and had to change water 3 different times. Holes by patio doors, infested with ants, spiders and mole type mice. Sewer backed up into shower several times. Inside cabinets and fridge were dirty as well. Furniture was changed out soon after arriving with couch that reeked of urine, had to be changed again. Then upon moving out inspection disected the place and wanted to charge for defects, dirty floors, walls and paint chips in wall. Was told before move in that CHS has high standards for student apartments, what a joke and then charge 4 crammed in kids $700.00 each for a sub-par apartment. Definantly a rip off.
Cameron Finch: Worse experience ever. Bad matinence, alwful communication, and on top of all that, all they want is to squeeze every dime you have. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST!
