The Ice Box Skating Rink: what do users think?
Nick: COLD!
Vanessa Bredehoft: My daughter is in an out of town tournament there. The rink does not have livebarn, the streaming service most other rinks use. They offer a stream service that is not listed on it's website (missed the first game entirely because I could not find the link). The only stream option is a monthly subscription - not at all ideal for families that have a kid in just a couple games. Can't get anyone to answer the phone. Just a poor experience specific to my perspective as the parent of a kid playing two games at this rink in an out of town tournament.
Thomas Panozzo: Old school ice rink. Not fancy. Functional. Love it. Recently updated a little. Still basic and fun. Good people.
MJ Ferguson: Fun little ice rink and they even have heaters a small pro shop and a snack bar
Dean Ott: Ice is crisp and hard. We'll lit and seating has heaters
jennifer perry: Super cool place
John Brogan: Seems like an old factory building tuned into a pair of hockey rinks, lots of industrial charm here.
Greg Schell: Great place great people. IYHL..com for hockey. Irish youth hockey league. Contact ice box for figure skating. Pro shop on site. Skates sharpened. Nice snack bar when its open. Lol. 2 sheets of ice.
Jacob Anderson: Nice old place it's just really cold in there But it is hockey season so I guess it's OK
Diane Prentiss: Hockey is a chilling sport but today was better with heaters on..
Tim Loftus: Great place..nice people...family friendly outlet for kids thats something other than video games :)
Sandy Botka: Great place for kids hockey
TaddHockey 33: Good proshop the worker was very helpful to help me get a new stick
Jake Scott: Vending machines are broken and the manager wouldn’t even compensate us. Also concession is never open
Linda lukac: Great time watching hockey!
travis king: Victory!
Jay Moore: A friend of mine went there for a hockey tournament and described his experience to me. Sounded terrible! The workers were extremely rude to him and his family, along with other guests. When they went to talk to the manager of the place, they turned it around on him and said he was being the rude one when he didn’t do anything. They even kicked out a child younger than 6, and made them sit in a car companied. I am extremely upset that anyone would do that to a child. This ice arena is not as good as it sounds.
Jack Mulvihill: As soon as I walked in there was this old guy telling me to leave even though I was looking for my brother, the staff there couldn’t be more rude to me. I talked to management and they turned the story on me and said there are 2 sides to a story. It turns out that this happened multiple times, THEY KICKED OUT A 6 YEAR OLD. So yeah it sucks
Brian Miller: Nice facility, good spectator heat, concession stand open, and decent parking set up.
Dan Thompson: The ice box is where dreams are made, it's a place where boys become men, where dedication and hard work pay off and you make sacrifices for your team. To succeed out there on the ice you need teamwork, and it can create great moments you'll remember for a lifetime. As the great Gordie Howe once said: “You find that you have peace of mind and can enjoy yourself, get more sleep, and rest when you know that it was a one hundred percent effort that you gave – win or lose.” – Gordie Howe. Take that to heart. Whether you're the greatest on the team or not, everyone matters out there. So let's play some hockey, even if you're not Canadian, you're welcome out there on the ice, it's a place of inclusion for all. It's a tough and physical game, but God bless, it's wonderful, and God bless the ice box, this beautiful place is a blessing to all, I love it like a child. Thank you ice Box.
Kayla S: I do security so far it's not a bad place lol

Brent Criswell: Amazing arena! Gorgeous
Don Moore: Great place to see a gameFriendly staff
Veronica Conley: Wonderful venue!!!
Gary Romick: Not a bad seat anywhere, kind of small for a major college hockey program, but great seating
Olivia Burger: Great time loved it FYI however The L section means your standing
Kathy KathleenK: This was my first time there. We had so much fun. The staff was very nice.
Jeffrey Thorne: Beautiful facility!
Dick Zelmer: ND played NIAGARA and won 5 to ZIP!!!
Doug Farmwald: Very nice ice arena. Tickets to ND hockey are reasonably priced and the team does a lot of fan outreach. The venue is also open to the general public for skating or rec hockey leagues when the collegiate team is not using it.
Kelly Gaylord: An extremely fun and high energy way to experience hockey!! The ND hockey team is great to watch, especially since the Band leads the arena in chants, songs, cheers, and more! The stadium is clean and staff are very kind. I always look forward to ND hockey games!
Jack Blankenbaker: Absolutely incredible hockey arena!! Had a blast for the first time attending ND hockey. Not a bad seat in the house.
Robin Banks: Small but good
Kim Moucha: What a top notch facility! Fantastic place to watch hockey!
Andrew Bergt: Amongst the best hockey arenas in the state!
Rodney Dale: Awesome 👌
Joshua Matos: Excellent 👍
Joe Kopacz: I've only been to the Compton Family Ice arena a handful of times, all of them for Notre Dame Hockey. Prior to my most recent visit, I came out to see Notre Dame get beat by Minnesota twice across a weekend in 2020. Not the best result for a trip out to South Bend, but it was fun nonetheless. This recent trip to see ND play Penn State was also similarly fun. Arrival at the arena was relatively easy, as we were able to park within probably about 300 feet from the main entrance. Ticketing was also simple - we had our tickets on our phone, had them scanned, and were into the general area within a minute or two.Prior to finding our seats, we stopped by the apparel shop near the entrance. While crowded at the time, I was still able to get assistance with finding a sweater I wanted and was able to try it on (sadly still too small). The associate was very helpful through the whole process, something delightfully common with the other apparel shops at other locations on the Notre Dame campus. There's not much that can be said about the game that can't be stated better elsewhere, but I'll do my best here anyways. ND hockey at home is a spectacle worth traveling for! Between the pregame spots and activities, the game itself, the fantastic pep band (I love me some good pep band) and everything else, both nights were very entertaining. Hockey Night in South Bend has never disappointed, and this particular weekend was no exception. The only downside, and a small one at that, to the Compton Family Ice Arena on the whole is the size of the seats. I'm a big guy (6' 3", 250ish pounds) and like most sports arenas, I had trouble getting comfortable in these seats. The saving grace came from the fact that 1) neither game was sold out, enabling both of us to stretch out during the game, and 2) the staff had no problem with us wandering among the SRO locations. It was great to get up and change vantage points to view the games.I'm looking forward to many more trips back for ND hockey in the years to come. Thanks again for a great experience!
John Szucs: Nice facility
Jodi Roby: Great place to skate Clean facility it's Notre Dame
Sean P: What a shrine
Bill Cain: Great place for college hockey! Super clean and staff are great!
