Tim Peterson: I was a regular customer of Studebagels prior to South Bend Chocolate Company taking ownership. Since that time my visits have become less frequent due to the decline in customer service. Today was just another example and the final straw.When I asked to get my dozen bagels sliced, the manager refused to do so in a not so nice tone because they were "day old bagels" -- I even offered to pay additional for this service. I never had a problem with this under the previous ownership.This manager was also rude to a female employee who she was training.With so many other local bagel options to choose from, I am not going to accept this poor level of customer service and attitude. Hello Einstein's and Panera...good-bye Studebagels.
Mikala Narlock: I love this place! The food is delicious and quickly prepared, the staff is considerate and engaging, and reasonably priced. This is place that’s full of regulars— so you know it’s good!Skip the bagel place down the street, and stop here instead.
Bradford Jordan: So worth checking-out if you haven't already. Like the name suggests, they have plenty of bagel options to choose from. Definitely worth stopping in if you're in the mood for breakfast or lunch. They're also owned by the South Bend Chocolate Factory, so they have plenty of sweets to choose from, too. Ordering is easy, but they're seating area is a little tight so dining-in might not feel too comfortable when it's busy. Otherwise, the food is great and worth stopping in.
Jakob Lazzaro: These are not bagels. They were more like round bread rolls with small holes in the middle. At least the sandwiches were ok.

Molly Lenaburg: My fiancé and I went in this morning for a bagel sandwich. We were rudely asked what we wanted to order, we answered and they were out of whole wheat and multigrain but instead of just saying that the worker said in an extremely rude tone “these are the bagels we have” pointing to the wall, guess I shouldn’t have paid attention to the list of flavors on a sheet in front of me... When we ordered drinks I asked about one of the speciality drinks, which the cashier asked the rude worker if she was making speciality drinks and she asked which one, I answered and she instantly said “no, I’m not making that one”. Okay, 2 for 2 on the rude train. The bagel was not firm, which I saw other comments saying the same thing. The egg and turkey sausage were good, but the cheddar bagel was not. I won’t be visiting again because service is 0/10 and food was 5/10.

Mike Bowe: Stopped in today, was good. Bagels are a bit different texture (less firm) than I’m used to, but they were good. Toppings were good quality. Service was quick. Space is pretty worn out & coffee is pretty pedestrian. I’d definitely go back.
Glenda Graham: Purchased bagels yesterday. I hadn't had them in a couple of months. These were just not the same. The color and taste were different. They were flattened more. It was like they didn't rise like they usually do. I was wondering if they used a different flour. They are still good, but not delicious. I'm going to try some other bagel shops.
Brent Burgess: I'm from out of town, I stopped for a bagel sandwich for breakfast. It was good and well made but there is one issue. They don't know what a bagel is! It was a round roll with a hole in it. A bagel should be chewy and sturdy. This was just soft bread with a thick crust. Not bad but not a bagel.I'm guessing they don't boil the dough?

Once I expressed displeasure in how my bagel was being prepared they pretty much shunned me, not cool. There are too many choices of this type of fare for them to be uppity like that.

Ced Mac: Eating at Einstein Bagels does not make you "smart"...This place has mold and holes in the ceiling with flies and gnats surrounding standing water in the ceiling dripping down on the tables below where people are sitting. This is unacceptable for any food establishment and definitely a health concern. As the Health Code Inspector I would close this place until they fix these issues. (see attached photos)

I usually don’t expect much for vegetarian options, but they had a good amount of options for me. The Fruit cup was good, but the size wasn’t marked on the container for proper nutritional value (needed to count caloric intake)

The place is clean, atmosphere is amazing, food awesome and plentiful, the staff is very friendly, helpful, informative, and inviting. Sooooo why are you still reading this and not on your way out the door? 🤔Get there already! The drink is a triple berry smoothie and inside of the bag is a mini zucchini nut loaf😋3/9/23I'm sorry but had to update my review. I'm not saying not to patronize but I am thinking of no longer patronizing this establishment. The staff that I've encountered is great with the exception of one. The service (3x) I've received from this fairly new employee is extremely mediocre and I just cannot spend another 10+$ here no time soon or maybe even at all. I'll know when autumn come back around, but as for now it's a no for me..I spent almost 15$ today and left a tip 🤔☹️

J: I have to say my Best Reuben has been mine and My Moms forever. The Reuben panini soooo good , chicken dumpling soup awesome. My son had iced caramel mocha he was very happy. My 13 yr old picky eater had the turkey bacon sandwich which she said was bussin..LOL. So overall, Very good and atmosphere pleasant, clean amd staff very friendly.

I have a cup of coffee almost every morning and I've tried probably 100 places in My life and never once have a had to have someone discard my coffee because it was so bad. I legitimately feel like I would've gotten sick If I drank the latte because it tasted like cleaning supply. I've worked at 2 coffee shops in my life and I know what espresso tastes like, it shouldn't taste like I'm drinking febreeze. I tried to give them another chance and asked if I could trade my drink that had one sip out of it for a cold brew and I was told no I'd have to pay. I already paid 30$ for a hard cookie, cold sandwhich, and 2 lattes that neither me nor my roomate Liked. I had her throw away the full lattes for me. No refund offered, trading it out was forbidden. Terrible taste and terrible customer service to be honest.

Nicolette Potter: I live very close by so I have been excited to try this place out ever since I noticed it 2 weeks ago. Finally found time this morning and am disappointed. The coffee is good and the muffins are delicious, but they have one young kid running the entire shop by himself on a busy Saturday morning. Waited to order for nearly 8 minutes and then waited for my coffee 23 minutes as he slowly made every order and stopped each time to take an order in between. Definitely not a place I can try to sneak into before work unfortunately. Let me know when you hire staff that can handle the rush or at least a second person to run the register while another makes drinks. The wait was actually laughable 2 other customers were laughing about it as well. We all felt sorry for the lonely barista.

Conner Balciunas: Lovely new cafe in downtown South Bend! Has a modern feel and vibe, with lots of tables to study or eat at. What I love most about it is that compared to other local cafes in South Bend, Java has a wide drink menu to choose from and has different sizes for drinks👍🏻

Jordan Ray: Stopped in with a coworker the other day who reccomended this place and it was absolutely great. I'm usually a boring regular coffee guy with cream and sugar but Alvin wasn't having any of that (in the best way) I said surprise me and he made me something so delicious I was blown away. Java cafe needs to protect Alvin at all costs, It has been a long time since I witnessed someone who genuinely enjoys what they do as much as he does. Coffee was *chef's kiss* but the customer service is what will probably bring me back

Family of Penguins: They were out of almost everything food wise which I can understand because they depend on deliveries. But the entire time we were trying to order the girl was giggling and holding conversation with someone other than us. We ordered what we could; they had our drinks but they didn’t have anything for sandwiches. We ordered bagels and they were toasted but came to us burned. The cream cheese was not on them and they didn’t give us a knife for the packaged cream cheese they gave us. The hash browns were also burned. We paid damn near $40 for our order and they didn’t even have half of what we wanted and the half we got was burned and not worth the money.
