Weiss' Gasthaus: what do users think?
Brandi Iannotta: My husband and I visited the gasthaus and from the moment we stepped through the door we felt at home. The atmosphere is so homey and comfortable. We dined on the patio which was lovely on this warm day. Our server was amazing. She answered all of the questions we had and made some great recommendations. We started with the charcuterie board for two. This included a delicious fluffy pretzel, summer sausage, some fresh blueberries and their Haus mustard. It also included gooseberries which my husband and I have never had and fell instantly in love with. We also enjoyed a cup of the mushroom soup. This was creamy and chocked full of mushrooms. Sincerely one of the best mushroom soups I have ever had. For my entree I had their taste of gasthaus. This had two sausages their Bavarian brat and their smoked sausage, a beef roulade, a small schnitzel that was actually so big it had me wondering what a large one looked like. It was accompanied by spaetzle, sauerkraut, and red cabbage. This was a fantastic meal with a good taste of what they offer. My husband had their Friday sauerbraten special with fork tender brisket in a ginger sauce and a side of spaetzle. The quality of ingredients shines through these dishes and the love of the chef is apparent in every bite. We were so stuffed we got our desserts, a lemon blueberry cake slice and a black forest slice to go. As good as the food was the service was even better. I've never felt so welcome at a restaurant. Thank you Weiss gasthaus for an unforgettable meal and experience

Kelly Lesiuk: So cute, you don't expect the inside to be so quaint and cozy! Food was delicious (expensive), all from scratch. Our service was a bit mixed up, had 3 servers, none communicating at first. All and all, very nice!Parking: Turn in on right side of building, towards back.
Jeffry Smith: The food and service were good but everything else about this place screams, don't come back. First off there's no parking, had to park a block away. Second there's no lights on the front of the building. We drove past twice. Then we had reservations for 7:15. We finally got seated at 7:45. They close at 9. Also when they run out of desserts they are out. So since we were the last people there we were offered 2 different desserts since they were out of everything else.
Brian Leonard: Great dinner with friends at Weiss’ Gasthaus German Restaurant. The staff and Chef/Owner were attentive and made guests feel like each meal was prepared just for them.Very attentive and customer oriented. Great authentic cuisine!!!

Heather & Ryan: This place is a must try in my opinion if you are in the South Bend area. They just don’t make them like this anymore! Food was on point as we sampled a little bit of everything. My wife said it was the best Ruben she ever had, and my sampler plate was amazing as well as our pretzel charcuterie board. GREAT PLACE all around and the service was friendly and inviting. Will go again 100% sure of it next time in South Bend.
Serafina Fiechtner: Very sweet German owned business. Although I'm kinda sad about the interior change, it's not bad! Mushroom soup is to die for, sauerkraut is to die for, they probably serve the shwienhauxen in heaven/Summerland. Genuine German food. One thing I say not to come here is if you are in tight budget and have no money. Otherwise, please eat here! (Also if you are vegetarian, they have an option for a yummy lions mane mushroom dish, I tried it because I wanted to try lion's mane, similar flavor to scallops and is a common vegan seafood substitute.)[EDIT] they remodeled again, and it's better than ever! They even have a little shop there too. But lady there thought me and dad were married. I think I embarrassed her when I told her he's my dad. That's when she was super apologetic.Vegetarian options: Lions mane dish! Also great for mushroom fanatics!Kid-friendliness: Soda and water is served here, not just beer. Appropriate decor for kids to be around.Parking: Further back, not the front. A bit of a walk, not far though!Dietary restrictions: Let's you know what is vegetarian.
Brian Bauer: Amazing sausages

Eric Ball: For appetizers, we had French onion soup and ceaser salad. Ceaser salad was not good. I had to ask for dressing. For dinner, we had the Filet and Bolognese it was average, and for desert, we had the flour less chocolate cake, which again was average. I am giving a 4 because the quality of the food did not live up to the priceFood: 3/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More

Raimie Wheeler: The food is so good it's almost magical. The butter served with the rolls is fresh and creamy. I see why everyone raves about the wild mushroom soup. Creme Brule dessert is light and creamy with a nice crunchy top.Everyone's food was cooked to perfection and the wait staff are very attentive to the needs of the table. This was a rare treat for my family and we thoroughly enjoyed.
R.a. Wheeler: Absolutely delish but you had better bring your wallet. This is not a cheap place but in exchange your getting top notch food and service. The only downside besides the obvious that it's also not kid friendly unless your kids have an equally exquisite tastes. On the other hand if they do they will not be disappointed. We ate very good and again I would give praise for the service as it was also amazing.Kid-friendliness: Again it's not geared towards children.Parking: I had a pass no thanks to working for the Doubletree across the road otherwise parking would have been further away. But this is also typical of downtown.
Nikki Horvath: It was mine and my husband's first time here and I've got to say it was great. I was slightly nervous because we usually don't do fine dining. A lot has to do with our "look ". That being said, the whole staff was very courteous and welcoming! The food was amazing and the whole staff checked on us periodically and never made us feel unwelcome. 10/10 would go back.
Rebekah Kincaid: Visited last night for DTSB Restaurant Week. What a beautiful building! Impeccable service and amazing selections. The crème brûlée was my favorite!Recommended dishes Creme Brûlée, Bread Basket, Wild Mushroom Soup …More

Sonia Cruz: Cafe Navarre has always met and exceeded my expectations with excellent cocktails, food, and service. Our waiter this evening, Josh, was exceptional with the exact right amount of attention and timeliness. I travel to South Bend periodically and this restaurant is always on my top list of places to eat. Excellent waiter Josh. He told us the most popular dishes. He served us very well. The food was exquisite. Very well flavored. God bless you guys. Cafe is the best.
