Rudolph K: Early February this year, we had in the Northeast an exceptionally cold, record-breaking Artic blast that caused severe water damages to many houses in the area as a result of pipes burst. In our case, a pipe broke in the second floor bath room, and inundated the whole house through the first floor, and the basement was full of water as the flooding occured while we were away.The extent of the damage to the house and the lost properties were overwhelming and the local water damage cleanup and restoration Companies such as Servpro were overwhelmed by too many requests and could not provide service before several weeks.Thankfully, the Insurance company got a hold of Servpro of Southbend which was in the area as backup, to provide assistance to our community. They were able intervene in 2 weeks. My first contact was Jeff, who came to the house and quickly scheduled the Team to work in the next couple of days.Chuck Taylor, Mitigation Manager, and his Team arrived in my house and after a walkthrough, they determined the extent of the damage, and start working without delay. They assigned 6 to 8 guys to my house and though they worked fast and professionally, they have found out quickly that the initial estimate of the job, needed to be extended, and it took them 3 days to get the job done, instead of one. They worked tirelessly and removed hardwood floors, ceilings, drywalls, and any wet material. This was a colossal job. Afterwards they placed dehumidifiers and fans to dry the house for 50 hours. However the basement remained very wet as it contains a lot of personal belongings inundated, that will be treated by the local Servpro. There were many things and belongings damaged during the process, but this would have been hard to avoid.The areas of improvement I could suggest are a better planning and and estimation before the crew come on site to start the Job. I would also encourage future Customers to get a written proposal (not the standard contract), so they know what to expect and what are the commitments of Servpro, in order to avoid any misunderstanding. For example: Should the Electrical power be out of service, will Servpro provide generators? How will be the personal belongings handled during the demolition? Will Servpro put them in boxes? Will a dumpster be available before they start working? How many days they will be drying the house with their equipment? Getting those answers in writing will ensure clarity in the responsibilities of each party (Servpro and the Customer) and a better experience.Finally, These guys demonstrated professionalism, respect, and eagerness to get the work done as fast as possible. They have successfully completed their job before returning to Indiana. I appreciated their Customer Orientation, especially Chuck's, who addressed my concerns at the end of the first day, and changed their plans so they could stay 2 days more to complete their Job. The main bathroom had suffered the most and basically everything including its tiled floor, ceilings and walls had to be removed.
