The vehicle stank so bad I didn't even drive the damn car, My whole weekend for the holiday was crazy but I did like the fact that the employees put a sanitized wipe in the car. If you are getting a car please look, smell and wipe before you leave the parking lot, Will I go back maybe but hopefully I don't need to.

David Kellems: They were FANTASTIC. My car was rear ended the day before, and my insurance company sent me to them for a rental while I waited to get mine back. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful in spite of the fact that I was supposed to go to a different location that, it turned out, had already closed for the day. I explained that I had to have a car to get to work the next day, and they came through for me in a big way, putting me in a 2021 Toyota in immaculate condition. I highly recommend these folks.

C Waller: Arrived at South Bend airport and picked up my car. I don't think they check them before giving them to customers. no caps for any of the tire air knobs, all tires were low and rear passenger tire had a nail in it. Had to pull over 3 times on my way to Elkhart to fill it during the night. Not what you want to deal with after a 2.5 hr delay and 12 hrs in airports and planes.When I called to get a replacement the next day, the lady said they had the same car available in Elkhart and they would be waiting for me. Go to the Elkhart branch and, no one knew I was coming, and they only had a sedan instead an SUV.The guy I got the car from told me to email him if there are any issues. I did and got no response.I cannot recommend this company due to their lack of follow through and quality of service/rentals. Do yourself a favor and rent from somewhere else when visiting South Bend Indiana.
Marcy Griffin: This was booked on expedia. We were not told we could not use a debit card (that the local branches accept) until we arrived to pick up the vehicle, causing us to have to put on another's credit card and costing us for an extra driver for the person actually renting and driving the car. We had called the day before to confirm the vehicle, but it was not available when we got the vehicle. The branch told us we could drive around to other branches and try to trade out for the minivan we reserved. Finally found a minivan, it was dirty (used mask & wrappers, and carpet was torn up) but we needed it and were already 3 hours late. One day into trip the van broke down. It took them nearly 4 hours to get a new van around. We use enterprise a lot but this was the worst experience ever.

Not good Customer service when you wait 45min to get the car. Return was easy because no one is there and you drop it off. Last rental was much better.

Enterprise website showed plenty available so I had the officer on scene take me there. I get there and am told that because I rented the car same day I was sol. I was then told to get on like a find a car . I asked the young woman behind the counter in Alamo garb if she could help me find an actual unspoken for car at a near by location . The 6’2 white , balding , ginger worker in enterprise garb told me no they wouldn’t assist and I had to find me own car . I told him that my experience with enterprise at the moment was unpleasant and maybe he should assist instead of telling me to deal with it myself . His reply was “ I have things to do and I’m going to call the police .” I told him to go ahead and that I’d be writing a review and speaking to corporate . I asked his name and he refused to identify himself which is why I described him. Very disrespectful and unhelpful.He did call the police , hoping for what , I don’t know . When the airport officer arrived I explained to to him the situation and he left me alone to search online for another car .A guy that overheard the conversation pulled me to the side and suggested a couple of neighboring towns I should try that may have available cars. As I write this I am $45 into a $80 cab ride to Elkhart Indiana .Then $50 miles into the ride I get a call from the enterprise in Elkhart ! You guess it! After calling the number and asking if they actually have cars available they tell me that the call center knows nothing and that each branch does what they want . Not only can they not rent me a car but they can help me find a car and I’mOn my own .Never again!Thanks enterprise !

When I arrived and picked up the vehicle they told me there are no car seats in the entire airport and I needed to leave my family there alone at 11pm and go buy one. So family travelers maybe pick a different option
ND 4LIFE: Service counter was closed before and after my rental so I picked up at national. Good thing I knew that Alamo, National & Enterprise we’re somewhat the same company. Vehicle had a large rock chi- in it when I received my rental but it was not reported, good thing I took enterprise’s rental insurance. Prepayments for tolls were useless and my money was not returned. I returned my vehicle over 24 hours ago and still have not received my final bill or receipt. Enterprise could definitely do better in this instance. Overall the pick up and drop off was fairly easy to located and use.

Carrie Lipsey: The Jeep we had was great, the service was great. I would only suggest, not renting a vehicle from and of the car rentals at the airport. I spent $400.00 more at the airport than I would have from Enterprise on Edison Rd. At the time Enterprise was not taking debit cards from my bank. I was last minute on getting my car and had no choice but to use budget. If at all possible Uber and make plans elsewhere.
Tiffani Howard: This budget location has the absolute worst customer service I've ever witnessed at any establishment. The lady was watching a show on her phone the whole time. We had some issues with renting a car that wasn't her fault but she did not offer any type of alternative option or try to help me at all. She just watched her show. So I had to wrack my brain to figure out the issue myself. Finally got everything figured out and paid for the rental. The other lady had a child there with her. Her and the child went to get the car and the child rode in the passenger seat. It was very bizarre. Throughout the whole experience they never explained anything to me. Luckily I've rented before and knew how it worked with the gas and mileage. When I returned the car they didn't even speak to me. She gave me a piece of paper and didn't say anything. I had to ask if we were finished or not. They were both very irritated doing their job. Do not go to this location!!!

Sherry Hodges: Staff was ok, nothing to brag about but nothing to get real upset over. There were what appeared to be a couple teens in the back room of the office. The car had a couple burn marks on the seat, car smells of pot and had 2 previous renter contracts as well as 5 packs of thc infused gummies in it so i know the cleaners didn't do much. Seat back wouldn't move and maintenance required light was on. There was a sign and note on the web page advertising after hours drop off but when i called to extend my rental they said no after hours drop and they closed at 1pm

Go elsewhere.Our family chooses Budget for their convenience, customer service and honesty. Price is always a concern, but we choose Budget over their competitors for the things that are important to us.NONE of these elements were evident with this rental experience originating at the South Bend 23134 Lincoln Way West location. Our poor experience was further compounded when we received a letter THREE months after our rental notifying our family of a charge for damage that was identified to a mirror.We scheduled our pickup at 8am that morning and when we arrived on time, we found the doors locked. There was no one present in the rental office and the first person to greet us at 8:25am was the teenage child of the office staff opening the store. The staff’s unprofessionalism was readily observed as she was wearing a tank top and bra and made her feelings known to anyone who would listen how tired the was and did not want to be there. It was about five minutes before we realized that this person was staff. It appeared that she had two of her children assisting with the rental process.After an unhurried processing in the office, we followed our clerk into the lot to inspect the car. I found it highly unusual that we were not allowed access to the inspection document and did not have any assurances that what we were noting was being recorded. We pointed out various body rubs, etc that may be construed as damage, but the identification of such was made extremely difficult due to the condition of the car. It was not washed, vacuumed or windows cleaned at the time of delivery. A customer should be allowed to perform the inspection and note damages on the vehicle they are receiving. It was like a big secret what she was noting on the report until we received it.We finally were able to leave the rental office shortly after 9am, a full hour after our reservation.On our way home, about a 7 minute drive, the car’s oil warning light came on. When I got home, I checked the oil and it was not registering on the dipstick. Upon further inspection, the tires were all under inflated, the washer fluid was empty (which I filled 1 gal from the supply I had at home.) We were uncomfortable taking the vehicle on a scheduled 700 mile drive that day with the condition of that vehicle, so we returned to the rental office.In short, there was practically no effort to resolve our problem. We requested that we receive another vehicle or that our current one be made safe to drive. (oil added, tires inflated, other fluids checked) The onus of resolving the issue was put almost entirely onto our family. The staff member was highly resistant to satisfying our concerns or coming up with solutions. Would not even pick up the phone to call the reservation office at the airport. Customer concern, focus, and service were nowhere to be found. We demanded that the clerk take the initiative to resolve our issue and their response was "ain't nobody gonna tell me what to do, I don't know who this b*#&$ thinks she is talking s*#t to me like that"We finally were able to convince the mechanic to add oil, inflate the tires, and check the vehicle out for leaks and potential issues. Our family were finally able to begin our trip at about 1030am. Two and a half hours after our planned time and reservation.Budget has refuse to acknowledge this poor experience and fraudulent charges as a result of our family's charges of the claimed damages.Find somewhere else to rent your vehicle.

The reason for a 3 star is the establishment was filthy and presentation was as if it had not been cleaned in weeks/months. When I dropped the vehicle off a week later it was even worse. The staff was still just as pleasant and definitely knows her job. She needs to be trained on excellence of presentation so she can move up. She’s great!

Tom Henwood: Rented a car at Avis in South Bend Int’l Airport. My car size wasn’t available, so I was upgraded to the next size up. Unfortunately, the car wreaked of cigarette smoke despite my reservation for a non-smoking vehicle. The car also wasn’t particularly clean looking inside and had a warning indicator that it was time for an oil change. Not a great experience. The staff at the counter were nice at least.
Tracey Pappas: The absolute worst rental car experience ever. Only location with last minute rentals. Received a car that was dirty and told to take it or leave. Amber the agent at the counter was beyond rude and unprofessional. I will definitely reach out to corporate on this. If I could score zero I would.

Unfortunately I don't smoke so it was very uncomfortable. We tried exchanging cars, but they told us there was nothing they could do about it. I couldnt reschedule the appointment I needed the car for, so I had to put my one year old in that car. Avis you really did us wrong on this one. We forgave all your previous faults but on this! I am never renting from you guys ever again. Had a headache for 3days straight after that. The car was even dirty, it had pet hair all over the back seat and crumbs all over.

K.C. Hohensee: For those that appreciate achieving status, the experience at South Bend was disappointing at best. The assistant at the desk was curt and seemed to be frustrated at having to work that particular shift. I asked about the complimentary upgrade and was told that wasn’t an option. I then expected to have a vehicle available for quick pickup, or to be able to select my vehicle and go. Instead I was sent to the back of the lot, to spaces not even marked as Avis, to a filthy (inside and out) vehicle that was too small for my group.The vehicle had marked up spots where it had been in a previous collision. While I’m grateful I wasn’t responsible for it, it was such a tacky way to walk up to the rental.Overall, a tremendously disappointing experience, and one I’d hope no one have to experience.

Kuldeep Niraula: If I have to speak about the quality of the minivan that Avis provided to me, and the ease of check-in and check-out process, I would give them 4 stars. But they billed me $210.70 additionally saying that I had not returned the van with full fuel. When I reminded them that I had returned the van with full tank fuel, they corrected themselves. But, I had to call them twice to get the fuel charge taken from my card. Each time I called them they took out half of the amount from the additional charge that they had put on my credit card. I had to provide them the information about the gas station and amount of fuel that I had filled in the van to fully fill its tank. The customer service representative were cooperative and addressed the issue, but the overall hassle was frustrating for me. Especially, after I had made sure at the rental office that everything was fine when I returned the van, and they had verified that I had returned the van in the manner it was requested in our rental agreement. If I had fully trusted Avis and not checked my credit card, I would have never known that they had charged me additionally, and may have missed the deadline to return the call to request the correction of the extra billing. Thankfully, they addressed the problem, but the overall experience was a frustrating one. That is why I am giving them 1 star for the overall service.
GJo: Terrible experience at South Bend airport. Car had trash in it and was filthy. Customer service, when we dropped off the car, overcharged us and was incredibly rude when we pointed out the overcharge! They said we picked up the car at 10am when our flight didn't even arrive til 4pm.

Rob Aitchison: After renting from this counter for over 3 months (two weeks at a time) I returned the car as usual to catch my Friday afternoon flight. There were 4 people behind the counter. When I checked for my receipt on Monday it said that I still had not returned the car. Called national service (there is no number listed for the counter). They said to give it a couple of days. One week later is says that I returned the car but on the 28th, not the 19th when I rented it. It also showed that I had racked up 2,400 miles. I probably racked up around 500 miles.I spent 2 weeks talking to six different people at National service. They kept telling me that someone from the counter would call me but the local counter never had the decency to call. National finally and begrudging refunded me for the "extra week". If I had to guess someone that works at the counter "borrowed" the car and had a hell of a trip.I have spent close to $4,000 dollars at that counter over the last couple of months. I will be in and out of South Bend for the rest of the year. I will be renting from Avis or Hertz.

Walter Recavarren: Fraud, avoid this place. I rented a car, it had some mechanical issues but nothing that would make it undriveable; the problem was it also had scratches, was told by branch employee that "if paint was not chipped it was fine". He didn't even do a walk around vehicle nor came outside of his desk to do a visual check. I was naive enough not to get something in writing. A few days later after returning the car, I get hit with an $800 bill for damages. Do yourself a favor and avoid them.UPDATE 12/19/20 : After the help and investigation by Customer Care and Damage Recovery Unit Dept for Alamo; they were able to resolve/close the claim. It's a relief the company I have used for so many years is still reliable and professional , even if the branch did not meet my expectations.
Brenda Thorek: Car was dirty on the inside. Crumbs on the passenger and back seats. Booked thru Costco, Conf # C376782695, for $202.83. Credit card charged for $234.80. Plus I never received my receipt via email otherwise this would have been addressed at that time.
Lyeela Mason: If I could give this company a zero I would. Rented a car and they place a $200 deposit on my credit card. The car was damaged. I took a video and went back into the lot before going anywhere. Talked to the employee showed him the damage. He said he had no more cars and that he would note the damage. Brought the car back and they kept my $200 deposit. Now no one can tell me why. They keep saying a damage admin fee. But when I call the damage department they don't have any information and cant tell me why I didnt get my 200 back. Never again. this place is terrible.
Michael Babb: When you find yourself in South Bend, Indiana in need of a car you should book with Alamo. We arrived at the airport at 9:45 p.m. We had reserved a car with Hertz. We called in advance to notify them our flight would arrive late, Hertz reassured us someone would be there to provide us the car. They lied! The only car rental counter open was Alamo. A gentleman named Curtis was working. We explained our situation as he chuckled; he said Hertz always leaves at 4 p.m. even if they know you are coming. Short story made long, he quickly leased us a car and we were on our way within 15 minutes. As you can see, Curtis and Alamo care deeply about their customers -both expected and unexpected- so you should save yourself the hassle and go with the only company that is going to take care of you . . . Alamo!!! My new car rental company! Thank you, Curtis!!!
Brit Brit: Never renting from here again!!! There were roaches in my rental care which delayed my trip due to the fact that we had to wait for the location to open the next morning. Still waiting on a refund two weeks later!!!
Karen Reuther: Rented a Hyundai Santa Fe in April to be picked up in July. Alamo had the best price. When we picked up the car, they didn't have any Santa Fe's, which was disappointing since I placed the order so far in advance. They said they would upgrade me to a 7 passenger vehicle - a Ford Edge - at no extra cost! That was awesome, however, the car I received did not fit 7 people. There were 2 seats in front and a bench seat in back. It worked fine for the 5 of us and our luggage.The staff was very friendly. The return process was a breeze. They were in walking distance from the Grand Rapids Airport. Only airport locations take debit cards, other locations in Michigan are credit card only - not even cash.
Kurt Friedman: Alamo car rental in the South Bend regional airport was awesome. They were open late and able to get me a car quickly. The vehicle was nice, clean and the guy behind the counter was friendly. He tried to harass me when I let him know I had rental insurance on my auto policy. I wish they wouldn't do that. Anyway, the price was very reasonable and I would definitely rent from Alamo again! Thank you Alamo, you made a stressful trip back home a little less stressful.

Champ1964: This Enterprise was a Starship Enterprise! They have your back here! After calling to reserve a car in route, never getting a confirmation from the company I arrived at enterprise hoping that they had my reservation. Apparently it did not go through but the attendant on staff could not have been more friendly and more helpful and I had a car at the right price within a few minutes and was on my way. A great experience the way you would want it to be anytime.No surprises, no disappointments. Just good business. Thank you so much buddy.
McKinnies Tribe: I rented a vehicle from Edison location, I got up the next morning, went to take my kids to school and the vehicle would not start. Called roadside assistance for Enterprise and they had car towed and ubered me to the 933 location because it was closest to my home.It was 20 degrees out, the Uber dropped me, the door to location was locked with a sign that they would return soon. I called, and someone came and opened door. Was very unapologetic of the issues I was having with rentals….said he didn’t know I was coming….then proceeded to say the only car he had was a Chevy Malibu. By this time I was already an hour late to work and said that was fine.I get in the car and it had not even been cleaned. Smelled of smoke and was filthy. I kept it because I was already late because of the first rental not starting, but man…smelling like smoke is not cool….Enterprise used to be so top notch with customer service. It has completely went downhill. So disappointed.

A difficult situation to be in, to turn customers away that had prior reservations. They had my situation with empathy and professionalism. Thank you Curtis and Casey, you have a customer for life. Does not follow their own corporate policies and procedures or honoring reservations.They do not value customer loyalty or corporates whom use their services year round, whom have contract with National and heavily rely on these services, which this location failed to provide.

I had documentation showing that I booked it trough my HR travel site1300 and they said pretty much do you want a car or not have a car.out of town and away from work I had no option . Now I have to deal with my work and the local rental agency. My fellow coworkers didn’t have to go in person to do such and got the rate they originally agreed to.I was told they needed to see the car and rewrite the policy with my signature. They did not look at the car and I did not have to sign a new document.
Corey Louzon: I rent frequently through National as I travel a great deal for business. I prefer to utilize the emerald aisle (Executive Elite member) whenever I fly out to airports that have them. When traveling to more "driveable" markets (Indianapolis, Chicago, etc) for my job, I'm actually glad to utilize the counter service because I get no better service than from the men and women with whom I do business with there. A major thank you to Selena and all the gentlemen at the National Car at SBN for service that is second to none!Update (07/12/22): went back and was promptly waited on by Selena. She provides incredible customer service every time I'm renting at SBN!

Carmen Luisa Coya: Karen was the agent that helped us. She greeted us with a warm smile and gave us some excellent tips for the area. I'm in application process for one of the universities in the area for my PhD. My husband was with me on this trip, and it was the first time for him to be in South Bend Indiana. He was shocked to see how kind and courteous that Karen was, but the rest of those that worked at National.We had a little bit of an incident where my husband bookbag was open and he accidentally dropped a very precious article that was given to him when he was deployed. One of his battle buddies gave it to him during the mission. When we arrived in Texas I was able to call back and connect with Karen and let her know that we thought it was left in the car. Luckily we were right! Her quick action and reaction help us secure this valuable and sentimental item of my husband from a a fellow soldier who served alongside of him. We are returning to South Bend next week to explore more the opportunities of my studies and reunite him with a this gift that serves symbol of loyalty and excellence for him. For us now this has a double meaning Karen reminds us of that symbol of loyalty to the customer and excellence as well. We would rent from them again the next time we go back just because if the excellent service!

There was signage showing cars in the emerald isle, but SBN airport does not honor it. They did go above and beyond once I walked back into the airport and stood in line, just wish I'd have known instead of walking around a bunch of random cars hoping one of the doors would open!

nathaniel hunt: This review is in regards to Joel at the Mishawaka location. Don’t go to this place. We are buying 2007 Honda Odyssey. It had a intermittent brake noise the day after we bought it so my wife scheduled an appointment. Joel was later rude to my wife because she thought the noise went away and canceled the appointment but had to make another appointment when the noise came back. So I called to address the unprofessional behavior when he got upset and now refuses to fix our van. I understand SOLD AS IS but sold as is and standing by your mechanics work are two separate things. They replaced the brakes before we bought it and put either wrong pads or the wrong rotors or it’s possibly a manufacturer error that should have been noticed. The rear rotors are now warped and the van vibrates when braking due to over sized brake pads overheating the rotors. Also front tires had to be replaced, a new neutral safety switch installed, and now the inner tie rods need replaced. We’ve had it 30 days now having nothing but problems with this vehicle and have already put hundreds of dollars in parts into it. So keep in mind they don’t guarantee their own work so when they mess up servicing the car it’s your problem. Don’t buy a car here because it will most likely have an issue. My wife called back to respond to the managers reply on this review and Joel refused to allow us to warranty the parts out. He claims there is no warranty even though every part store has warranty for brake parts. He also refused to help resolve the issue. I REPEAT DO NOT BUY A CAR HERE!!! Brake failure can cost people their lives. My wife and 3 small children ride around in this car. I’m including some pictures showing that hubs were not cleaned, anti-seize was not used, brakes not properly greased, and they left the old retaining screw broke off in the hub not allowing rotor to seat properly. I was a ASE A5 certified brake technician for years and can tell this is clearly an uncertified mechanic or a negligent one that should not be working on cars.
Payge Fissgus: Mishawaka location review. DONT BUY A CAR HERE!!! Very unprofessional. Bought a 2007 Honda Odyssey. Started having an intermittent brake noise the next day. They just replaced the brakes so I called and made an appointment. The noise went away so I called to cancel the appointment but the noise came back. When I called them Joel was rude and said if I cancel they won't help me because it cost them money for me to cancel. As if it's not going to cost me to drive back and forth 40 minutes for a mistake they made. My husband called to address them being rude so now they refuse to help. Now the rotors are warped I've had to replace 2 tires and the neutral safety switch. I've barely had the vehicle 30 days and it had already cost me hundreds of dollars. Joel still refuses to help even after claiming he would in a reply to my husbands review and also claims they have no warranty on the part from the part store even though every part store has manufacture warranty on brake parts. Attached are pictures of what we found on the front brakes. No anti-seize, not properly greased, retaining screw broke and left from the old rotors, and the hubs were not cleaned. The rear look like oversized pads are on it so it's leaving a lip on the outer edge of the pads. Overheated the rotors and they are now they are warped
