Aubry Thompson: The establishment is beautiful, and a peaceful place to serve memory of our loved ones, sometimes the ulegy is word for word from the obituary. Readings from the Bible tends to lose people who are not active Christ followers and do not regularly read from the Bible.I would suggest more intricate details on each individual in which you are celebrating.As a Christ follower I,feel as if the goal of the pastors is to preach a sermon not to show tribute to the famil member.Showing the light of the Lord in the daily acts of a wonderful person would have been a great way to honor peoples loved ones.

Gregory Bailey: Dad passed recently. Unfortunately his wife chose not to communicate ANY info on my father’s health beforehand, nor his death. Found out he passed only when a chaplain called me from hospital. Thankfully, I was able to go see my dad at Hickey privately. Tracey the director made sure that happened! ❤️ When I called Hickey later to find out what time the grave site service was going to be the next day, the woman I spoke with said, “you’ll have to call “his wife””. I mentioned that’s not possible due to her behavior. She only said “we don’t get involved in family matters”. I told her I was his son from Chicago and I just want the time they are burying my father. Simple question. By choosing not to give me the simple information, she was proving to already be involved in personal family matters.You failed at doing your job, console the family and help them get through their loss. Your consideration for my mourning the death of my father wasn’t present and you lacked professionalism and any sort of care and concern for me, which both shocked and disappointed me tremendously! The rest of my family couldn’t believe it either!I reached out to the cemetery and they gave me the time of my father’s service, WITHOUT getting in the middle of any family matters.I’m sure this is an isolated incident, but it’s one we won’t forget.

Your (and your firms’) reputation for more intimate, hands on/high touch funeral services were on display immediately when two catholic parish funeral coordinators recommended you so highly.You were truly a trusted advisor and made what had the makings of a family disaster (very short timeline for service and lots of family emotions on type of service) turn out to be an amazing experience/celebration of my Dad’s life. Your attention to detail, super clear and timely communications and sensitivity were priceless when there was so much pressure & anxiety (&grief) being dealt with. Every detail we planned for was clearly communicated and executed without a hitch. Having someone like you who knows the Catholic faith and funeral protocols can’t be underestimated.My sources tell me your pricing was competitive even with “higher touch/personal services” factored in.I give my highest recommendation to anyone considering funeral services in the South Bend area to consider McGann & Jessica for all your funeral needs.
C- Richa: A parent was cremated here. The man who answers the phone was rather cold in reference to my questions and also seemed defensive regarding cost of getting a death certificate for my Mother. Definitely felt like I was bothering him. Eventually he just referred me to the county where I found the certificates are cheaper. I hope he was more compassionate with my family when they were handling the cremation. I would not pick this funeral home for any of my family needs.

Charise Okpo: My brother passed away unexpectedly this month. I spoke with a few funeral homes in the area and decided to go with Boyd and Sons because he was the most genuine. He was very nice, patient, understanding, answered our questions in a timely fashion, and most importantly he treated my mother and I with care. I would recommend his funeral home to anyone in the South Bend area.

Highness West: Terrible experience! Mr. Boyd is very unprofessional. He has played about my childs burial since the beginning. I wanted Alfords and before i could make that decision he took an informational conversation as the go ahead. So i settled. He took forever to want to help me. He rushed my babies funeral it ended almost a hour and a half early. He rushed putting my baby in the ground. I was given vouchers for my child that i have told him what to spend the money on and more than a month later he is threatening to send the voucher back if im "unsatisfied with what he is doing." He is literally given me the run around.

Jim Eaton: Stem-Lawson was great through the entire process. They lead us through all the decisions we had to make with no pressure and were always cognizant of our grief. The facilities were perfect and the video of the service and the job they did with photos were top notch. Day of the service was great as well. I can’t recommend them enough.

Patricia Fawley: I have worked with Stemm Lawson Peterson Staff since 1907 with issues of being out of state for long periods of time. We prearranged and finalized the funerals in 2014. The staff is very knowledgeable and compassionate. No question or request is too difficult to solve. There service is absolutely outstanding and dedicated to the care of the family.
