Jamie Amador: I haven't been to a Trader Joe's since I lived in Tucson so I'm really excited that we have one here in south bend. This has so many items that most stores do not have. I wouldn't say unique but definitely kitschy or out of the ordinary. Lots of organic items ala whole foods and pantry items that scream 'must try'. They are a bit pricey. I don't know if it's because of the location (very near the Notre Dame campus) or just because you get what you pay for, quality.

Slaterson: Update 3/28/22: I made my annual visit and I still can’t believe how perfect this store is! The nicest employees and a template for what I hope my local coop will offer once it opens.Books, fair trade decor, blankets, the cutest Easter gift baskets, candles, the coziest sweatshirts, gluten-free vegan treats, the tastiest curried cashew hummus, kombucha offerings I’ve seen nowhere else, and gf & v hot soup. Okay, they also carry my favorite raw chocolate (Rawmio out of Illinois, not carried at ANY other health food store I’ve been to) and local moisturizers made by the Soapy Gnome and Sai Shakti.*Bernie 👀 has been relocated to the bathroom, causing me a mini heart palpitation when I forgot about him until I noticed him over my shoulder while washing my hands. 😳Oh my word! I stopped in on the way to my Airbnb and couldn’t have made a better decision! Bernie greeted me, beautiful fresh flowers and plants, lovely candles and coffee and vegan, gluten free, sugar free jam (which I’ve never seen for sale in all for my travels) and all the things I’d ever need to enjoy my little mini road trip for work. I’d stay in South Bend again anytime as long as I can visit the Purple Porch!

Gerald Huntington: This place is awesome!!!! Seriously!!! I got a fish and chips 3/piece meal with cayenne pepper, a drink, and tartar sauce. This was amazing! The food was cooked thoroughly, the pepper gave it a kick, and the bread helped cool it off in the end. You can get it without the pepper and im sure it would be just as good! For those that are not aware, Swai is a much cheaper Asian cousin of Catfish. It's ok, but when you say you're selling catfish... Sell catfish. Catfish eaters know the difference immediately and will pay for the real thing.

In addition they didn't even bother to clean ANY OF MY CHICKEN!! It was whole feathers on my wings, legs and thighs!! The fries were stale and the chicken made me sick. It tasted like it was fried in is grease. Nice people but that doesn't make up for poor products.
