Alice and Tom are amazing. The inn itself is a wonderful step back in time to the elegant, lace-curtained era except that all of the rooms have been thoroughly modernized. Modernized without losing the grace and charm of a Victorian manor house. The facilities are modern and wonderful but we come back year-after-year because Alice and Tom who combine professional hospitality management with the warmth and charm of dear, old friends. We have never met anyone who works so hard and consistently to make a visit so comfortable and elegant. Somehow they find the energy and time to be gracious and attentive while still working endlessly to continually to upgrade the InnIf you want a bargain, stay at the local chain motel. Tom has such wonderful stories when you get a chance to say hi to him and make some small talk when he's not too busy making sure The Inn stays in such pristine condition. This Dynamic Duo of Hosts welcomed My Wife and I on our Pre-Honeymoon, "Minimoon" in September last year and we loved it so much that we came back on our Anniversary this year.They have such great knowledge on places to stop around, whether in town such as The South Bend Chocolate Company, tourist sites like The Studebaker Museum, The Ruthmere in Elkhart other places to get food whether out in Shipshewana or the surrounding areas in and around The City, proper like Fiddler's Hearth to Tippecanoe Place to name a couple.The place does book up quickly, but even to stay for a day or two I would recommend this as one of the Top Places to stay in The Country in my opinion. There's a reason why The Oliver Inn has received such worthy awards in Hospitality and Service.The History, Architecture and Decor takes you to another place in time while still being tethered to current modern amenities you would get from a hotel, but with the cozy and comfort of a home-away-from-home as you stay and make your acquaintance with Your Warm Hosts and those you may meet while staying in the Inn.

Ira Sender: We"re returning patrons, this time for our 46th anniversary. Who knew that one of our favorite and most romantic places would be in South Bend, Indiana. Went for an early dinner at Tabor Hills Winery (about 30 minutes north), took in a South Bend Cubs game (walking distance from the Inn), had a magnificent stay and a wonderful breakfast at the Inn, and met some very nice people at breakfast. The Inn is absoutely beautiful and Tom and Alice go out of their way to be accommodating.

Deborah Woodruff: Perfect location for a quiet weekend getaway. We had three adults and two teens, and everyone had their own bed with room for more. The house is very clean, well maintained, and has all the supplies you might need during your stay. We had the pleasure of meeting Wendy, the owner, and she gave us the behind the scenes tour of the barn and property. Everything about this weekend was perfect, and we will definitely be back!

Kellie Neal: We had a group of 5 women traveling from Western KY to the farmhouse. It was like walking into my grandmas house...A nostalgic step back into time. This cozy little place is perfect for friends to hang out or a family gathering. Wendy was an excellent hostess and even stopped in to play some ridiculously fun games one evening! Everything from pizza pans to wine glasses to personal items were furnished for your use. The beds were cozy and clean. Antique shopping was great!! We definitely will be back to visit Wendy soon! Probably with a little larger group next time so we may have to book 2 houses!
