Blackthorn Golf Academy: what do users think?
Matthew Schmidt: Matt Harrell has completely changed my game for the better. He explains things simply but thoroughly. I came in shooting in the mid-high 80s with the occasional 82. Now breaking 75 on a good day and rarely shoot over 82. If you need someone that helps to make the game easier, find Matt.
Caine Espinoza: Matt has been a great help to getting my game to shooting in the 70s consistently. Just had my best round to date of a 74 and it is with the lessons that I have taken with Matt, specifically the short game of 80 yds. and in that got me to this point. Matt is very helpful and explains things very well and in a way in which you understand, tailoring his lessons to each individual. He also doesn't watch his watch while he is teaching. I have had lessons prior where their convictions will not allow them to go a minute over time but Matt will stick around a little longer when he can. I will be taking more lessons with Matt and recommend you do too!
Todd Woelfer: I'm a 55 year old who has been a mid teens handicap golfer my whole life. Earlier this year, my game completely fell apart. On a recommendation from a friend, I took a lesson with Matt. 5 minutes into the lesson, I knew Matt was going to help. He simplified the game like no one else ever has for me. He talked in terms that made sense rather than hyper technical terminology that I've heard from other instructors in the past. After a lesson, I was slightly better than where I had been years before. After a couple of lessons, I shot the best score I've posted in many years. By the end of this season, I'll post my best round ever. Most importantly, though, what Matt did was make the game fun for me, again. I couldn't recommend an instructor more highly than I do Matt. He's the best.
--: I've taken lessons from Matt Harrell since last Spring, and have had fantastic results. I went from shooting 103, to a low of 76 in one season.I've taken the occasional golf lesson, but have never taken more than one or two lessons. My experience was that the pros tried to fix the symptom, not the root problem. My history has been one day I would shoot 90, the next day I would shoot 103. Very inconsistent, and I had no idea why. I told Matt I would like to break 80 once, and he said that he thought we could get there. His teaching method was great. Harvey Penick-like. Watched my swing a lot, and commented with changes that mattered. Not too much talking, or "over" teaching. The last round before my lessons with Matt was a 103. After regular lessons and a lot of work on the range I shot a 76 and shot in the 70's 5 times! I have a much better understanding of my swing, and am not "chunking" or "topping" like I was before.I'm still taking lessons with him, and am now targeting shooting in the 60's once in my life!Matt is a great teacher, and I have recommended him to a few of my friends who have all liked his expertise and approach.I'd highly recommend Matt if you are looking for a thoughtful pro who knows how to work with students to get results!
Adam Clifford: Matt is a great instructor! Only had 2 lessons but in those 2 lessons I've already learned so much. Any skill level that wants help improving their game, I suggest reaching out to Matt.
Harold Delph: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueMatt took 10 strokes off my game in one season. Great guy and even better instructor
Sanjeev Jyoti: Matt Harrell is an exceptional coach at the Golf Academy at Blackthorn who tailors his lessons to your specific needs and builds on optimising what your body and swing type will allow you to do.I just completed a golf lessons package (5 lessons) with him and am very happy with the progress in my game and scoring. He has a gift of boiling down swing concepts into simple steps which can be used with all clubs. I am happy to state that my average distance has gone up by 5 to 10 yds by using more core versus arms (like so many amateurs). Finally, as a Senior golfer playing 5 times each week I wanted to enhance my game and not go for major surgery on my swing etc. Matt was able to accomplish just that and I will continue to build on this foundation in the future.Good luck to all future students of Matt. 👍
Olivia Griggs: Matt is an exceptional instructor! He is invested in the success of each of his clients and can work with any client regardless if they have been playing golf for a while or are new to the sport.Matt has helped me choose clubs and improve my swing. He's helped fix my swing using different golf tools and analyzers. Can't recommend him highly enough and he's got a great attitude.
Dave K: Positive:ProfessionalismGreat lesson with Matt. Would definitely recommend. 🏌️‍♂️

Studebaker Golf course: what do users think?
Bjorn Swenson: Excellent beginner course.
Charles Johansson: Excellent course for an old hack golfer to hit some balls with his just learning to swing son. The holes are challenging without too many hazards to ruin your round. Fun place to learn the game. The price gives your wallet the same feeling of joy as well.
kevin thomas: Nice fun little course, and students golf for free. Great course for the younger kids to learn on
Rob Highland: Freeing. Thank You.
Levi McClellan: Great little course well kept friendly people great day of golf.
Tim Huge: Great place to go with my son and grandson. It's really been brought back. Coarse in the best shape its been in along time.. Even with all the rain we've been having to deal with.
Matthew Gann: Good family sports event
Josh Kytta: Best Studebaker has looked in years!
Matthew Walter: Fun, easy, golf course for kids, duffers, and regular players. It's my go to golfing spot.
Shannon Hyduk: Great value for a quick 9 holes of golf. Mostly par 3s but great course to break a junior into golf.
Brenda Hall: Lovely facility & the people are so nice!
Tia Newbill Mack: My son loves their golf program!
Austin Beringer: I love going here. It's a nice 9-hole course. Holes aren't to far or to big. It's a nice place to take family and friends. I would recommend going at any time.
Angela Doorn: Fun course to play, especially if you just want to go play a round of golf for fun.
Robert Morgan: Fun little course
Michael Williams: Course was in great shape
Aaron E: The course is short. With that said its great for children to learn on. The course is maintained very well. The only complaint is you may be dodging balls, as the holes are very close together. Easy to walk being as its such a short course. They have free junior clubs for the kids to use.
Ross Higginbotham: Can't beat the rate. Course is a little ragged, but if you just want to go play for cheap, it's a great course for that. Also a great place for kids to learn to play.
Lauren Mack: Kids day was a blast. Staff did a great job greeting golfers and explaining the flow of the event. Everything was free including balloon hats, ice cream and sunglasses. Carts are available but were not offered on kids day due to the number of young golfers on the course.
Ted Neal: Awesome crew!
William Shank: Decent cheap and small course. Good for beginners

Erskine Park Golf Course: what do users think?
Robert Davis: Backed up behind several groups. Told to hurry. Won’t waste my money here again.
Tom Ryan: Course is always in great condition. Greens are stellar.
techiese: Been snow skating the hill in back for years. Going down hill is so much more fun in a place I know I'm not going to land on rocks. More the merrier, especially when the recently posted rules are followed.
Chris Reeves: Had a good round. Nice course with decent sand bunkers.
Cindy Stienecker: Never guess you'd find a golf course this nice right inside town!
Michael Hamann: Very good time. Course in great shape
Joe Clark: Pretty nice/fast greens. Had a great time, and will return
john fitrakis: Nice course. Difficult greens.
Louis Laroche: Excellent wedding reception here.
Robert Holke: Great Shape and Fast play
Michael Casey: Great course! Challenging and quality customer service.
Matt Richard: I didn't actually go to this golf course but I pass it quite frequently and know someone who lives in the area and have walked by the edge of the course and it looks like a very nice course
Steve Hall: Challenging and well kept
Ted Neal: Great last day of November @ Erskine Park today. Dave Firestone was the superb host with a great smile, suberb wit and fresh hot coffee. I'll be back!
David Gill: Good shape for this time of year. Course full and play was very slow, needed a ranger to move play along.
Jay Bz: Always well kept, good pricing, friendly staff.
Brandon: "4.75" Great course, well kempt, we will be back.
Waverly Tyson: Good Greens, challenging distance on most holes making low scoring a challenge for the higher handicappers like me. Know your pitching distances well and be careful with the low rolling chip shots as the greens are usually pretty fast.
R Joseph: Very frustrated with the South Bend courses the past few years. I was very hopeful when a boatload of money was offered to the director of the courses but it seems to have been squandered on a barn being rehabilitated?Know your audience. Me and all my buddies want to play on a course that is well kept. We have played all the South Bend courses for years! Instead it's like we're driving on the streets of Baghdad in poorly maintained golf carts. It is fair to say that each course has a couple really great spots. But the director only manages two and a half golf courses so come on we can do better!
David Stewart: Way overpriced for what it is. And really no student/kid friendly rates. Will go to other courses for what they charge. Talked to Tony Stearns and found the reasoning for making it near impossible for junior golfers and area high school teams to play there. It's all about the money. They would rather cater to the elderly playing customers than grow the game. The future paying players are what will make the course. Not the current players. I sincerely hope junior tourneys get played elsewhere. Dont give this course and the city any money. Not worth it.
Eric Vanderhagen: Course was great my putting wasn't😣

Juday Creek Golf Course: what do users think?
Michael Whitt: The most goat, tracky of all goat tracks. A little torn on the review…On the one hand they let my two young sons tagalong, and we had a great time together. However…the course is in terrible shape. Tee boxes are chewed up and uneven. Greens were bumpy and just bad. Fairways are thick and full of divots. Only got to play the front 9, more on that later, but the holes I did play were very basic (straight down the fairway with some sand and water hazards here and there).I was the first person out, a single riding…finished the front 9 in 1 hour and 10 mins. Made the turn and hit a wall of 4 foursomes stacked up on #10.Course didn’t have a starter and so a bunch of groups just went off the back. 3 stars because the young kid in the pro shop gave me a rain check for 9 holes and it’s in a great location…but man this course is roughhhh in every way possible. It’s old, understaffed and just beat up.Come here for CHEAP golf in worst ways possible.
Karen Demske: Excellent golf course!
Tim Nunya: January 2nd.... The course is open and in Great shape !
William Lawecki: Started playing here when the course first opened. Conditions have deteriorated steadily since then and will no longer give them my business. Last fall the course was in atrocious condition, the pump house on number three had a roof that looked like it was held together with spider webs. Since the owners sold water rights to the city they could care less about the condition of the course. The lady in the club house is usually surly as can be. Lots of better options out there
William: Pace of play was atrocious 15 years ago and it still is today. Owner’s husband is still a lunatic. His name is Jeff, watch out for him. Jeff used to use the golf course as a shooting range and bring firearms into the pro shop. $20 would be too much for this place. It’s too bad the golf course is just a hobby for their daughter. And somehow Linda is a senator?
Carolyn Schwarte: Very complete breakfast well cooked. Service was timely and efficient. The staff is very pleasant.
dean gallam: Challenging course in great condition...
Keith: Played yesterday. Had the owner of the course playing behind us. Not fast enough for him apparently. He had his $10/hour front counter lady drive out to us and say, “Do you know who Linda Rodgers is? She is a state senator. Thats her husband playing behind you, he owns the course. You are not playing fast enough.” We say we have never heard of Linda and go on with our round. This dude has personalized golf cart seats on his cart, and rode alone with his 4/some group. Its packed, there is an outing, everyone is waiting on every hole, but we are not playing fast enough. I will never play at this course ever again. Your wife also lost 4 potential voters because you brought politics into the golf course. Keep the bigotry at home rich man.
Shawn Strojny: Course wasn't in very good shape. $49 is too expensive for the course.
John Younts: Great course. Price is a tad high to pay with all the renovations going on this year. Beyond that this is one you should tee off at once a year , if your a local golfer. Welcome mix of challenging and easier holes throughout.
Sullivan Swingley: Grass in decent shape. Bunkers not filled and being changed. Tons of renovations going on. Nice course but not at all worth the price compared to others in the area.
Bill Iannuzzelli: Attended a Republican fundraiser. Had a great time.
Sally Cavanaugh: Attended a banquet at Juday Creek and it was a great experience. The space was beautiful, the staff was friendly and provided outstanding service but it was the food that made me actually want to post a review. It was so good, and not just as far as event food goes, it was top notch and better than most made to order restaurants all the way from the salad through the main course and to desert. Hoping to go to other events there in the future.
Chuck Humes: We played today early morning. Course not in great shape but they need a ranger!! Only takes one group to back the course up. Shouldn't have to skip a hole to get by them.
Ray Skwirtz: Course is in great shape, But need better management on weekends. Had way too many Single and Twosomes. This Causes many backups and waiting between shots. Also No food available at the turn. It’s a weekend people!!!
Wendie: DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. IT SHOULD BE A PRIVATE CLUB IF YOU ARE NOT A MEMBER YOU GET TREATED BAD. WAITED IN LINE TO PAY AND WAITED 25 MINUTES AND THEY LET MEMBERS CUT IN FRONT OF YOU. BY THE TIME WE GOT OUR CART WE HAD 4 MINUTES TO GET OUR STUFF AND BE AT OUR TEE TIME. SO WHEN WE STARTED TO PLAY THEY TOLD US TO HURRY UP. THEN THEY TOLD US TO SLOW DOWN. THEN THEY CAME TO US ON THE 7TH HOLE AND SAID EITHER YOU SPILT THE GROUP UP OR GO GET YOUR MONEY BACK. WE PAID FOR 18 HOLES. THE PRICE IS NOT RIGHT ON THERE WEBSITE SO PLAN AHEAD. THE PEOPLE ARE RUDE. UNLESS YOU ARE A MEMBER THEN YOU GET TREATED RIGHT. AND GET TO CUT LINES.
graygirl: Never broke 5 hours for 18. Back up starts on the 1st and 2nd holes which were poorly designed and average 40 minutes. Often, attacked by geese. The staff comes off snobbish. Think they would be a little more humble considering the fees they charge. I only gave it one star or it would not post my comment. So, that star don't hold toilet water. I don't remember the last time I played there and don't care. Now, for the bad part (to be continued...)
Erik Stipe: Pace of play was awful, started around 6:15 didn't get done until 8:45 was by myself playing 9 holes and group ahead would not let me play through. A group of three two groups ahead was very slow, I caught up on the 5th hole so I'm assuming they played at a pace slower then 3 hrs for 9 holes which is unacceptable. The course is in good shape other then people not repairing their ball marks on the green.
Emee Miller: Wonderful brunch. Quiche was perfectly warm.
Travis Truex: 4 walkers and 8 people in carts and not letting anyone play through. Golf course didnt seem to care. Took 2 of us in a cart 3 hrs for the front nine.We called in for a price and when we got there it was a lot more than was told over the phone. The course isnt in good shape either for the price they are charging. We wont be back!
Keith Speheger: Planning a Charity Golf Outing in September at Juday. The staff is very accommodating and knowledgeable. Should be a great event.

Warren Golf Course: what do users think?
Jeffa Patridge: This course is awesome. The back has numerous picturesque holes. Must play.
George Kazmierzak: Loved the pro shop, didn't have time to play the course. Great selection of ND golf gear, very helpful staff. I bought a really cool golf bag. Looking forward to going back, and playing a round. Thanks to those that were so helpful.
Daniel Post: outstanding conditions, one of those special places to check off and put right back on the list!
Thomas Richards: Course is in great condition for October. Course is on my list to play again.
Mark Doebler: The Warren Course is not likely to "blow you away" visually. But I find it to be a very solid round of golf. Coore and Crenshaw do a great job of combining playability with strategic options. Many golfers, myself included, are "gluttons for punishment". I love hard and super challenging courses. Even if my scores don't reflect the skill level necessary to conquer those kinds of challenges. If you're one of those golfers too, then you might be inclined to pass on a course of this nature. But don't take it lightly. Although it will never kick you in the teeth, it will still require you to play thoughtful and quality golf to finish with a good score. Either way, when you finish, you will likely look back on the course fondly and be happy you played. It's a high-quality track for the price. And it's always fun to think that you're playing where the best of the best played during the US Senior Open.
Justin Bennett: What a fantastic joy! Such a simple fair test of golf with the look of a powerhouse! Tees perfect, fairways well taken care of, rough fair and challenging, greens smooth and roll true. I live in South Carolina and a true blood Sooner from Oklahoma, I loved every minute of my round at the Warren Course at Notre Dame. Head pro was amazing, she was very welcoming. Make this a round anytime your in North Indiana.
Michael Whitt: Best course in the area. Very walkable, great holes. Cant go wrong with a Coore and Crenshaw design.
Jamie B.: Great track. Very enjoyable course for the low and high handicappers. I definitely recommend playing Warren.
Logan Schott: Went -4 through 5 holes. Legendary turn dogs too
Terry McSweeney: Went to the pro shop to purchase a gift. Very helpful and accomadating.Excellent service experience.
M Warren: How can't you love a place named the Warren Gold Course?!
Matt Commons: Good course. Not quite up to the level I expected for paying $80 to walk on a weekday afternoon. Fun layout. Greens were just ok. No on course water or ball-washers as affirmed by other reviews. Because covid crazy? Come on.
P. David Rij: I played there 2 days prior to the USC game 2021, the course was in very good shape overall. The greens were in good condition and rolled well although they are small with lots of break so tough to read. I really liked the layout. The cost was reasonable for this course.
Mitch Nutter: I had the privilege of playing this course the day of the USC game (2021). They run a shotgun start on game days and they pack the course. To my surprise, we kept perfect pace. Tee’d off at 1000 and put the clubs in my car @ 1430.I was a single and I am used to it, but they will pair you up and you will be riding with another player. No individual carts here. It was cartpath only for the par threes but other than that we had access to drive on the fairways which was nice considering how wet it had been. The course was in immaculate shape. I am from Cincinnati and have access to the Camargo Club. The Warren was in top notch shape in my opinion. The greens are quick and pretty tough to read. Overall, you should jump on the opportunity to play golf here.
B A: Overall it’s a nice course, greens were in good shape however be careful when booking tee times. Brought a group of 6 on a Friday, called the pro shop to book the tee time, all they had were late afternoon slots, was assured by the staff that a 4:10 and 4:20 tee time would be enough time to get both groups through. Called back later and staff confirmed that we’d be able to play all 18. On the 14th hole our group got a notice to finish the hole and Bring the cart back as the course was closing it was only around 730. We were also supposed to have back to back teetimes but they split are two groups up with a slow group between us and our second group only got through 11 holes. For the cost 11 or 15 holes isn’t worth it!
Jacquelyn Schiewe: Course is in good shape. There is no potable water on the course and there was no concession service offered on the course with limited service available in the clubhouse.. No ball washers at all.
barry lahman: I’ve been to over 70 different golf courses in 2021- these were the slowest , bumpiest greens I’ve been on all year, the rest of the golf course was in great condition. For what they charge I would expect better green conditions.
Duane Farnsworth: Bueatiful and challenging course. Pro Shop staff and Starter were both professional and humorous.
Hays Nash: Such a test of skill but fair.
John Ramsey: The Green is looking Great!
Doug Stpeters: Absolutely great day
