Demi Gibson: Saw Dr. Mahon for a painful tennis elbow I suffered with for nearly a year. I was able to get an appt quickly. When I arrived, I was seen quickly. X-rays and review took no time at all. Dr Mahon thoroughly reviewed all treatment options. We decided upon a treatment which I received same day. I was in and out in approx 30 minutes and was pain-free in less than a week! This registered nurse highly recommends. Just wish I had seen him sooner.

Melissa Reed: Seek a second opinion. For two years, they treated a knee symptom without actually working to identify the problem. After one of their secretaries, literally gave me a diagnosis of the need for a knee replacement (kind of a problem since she isn’t the Dr. and probably didn’t even have any medical training), I sought a second opinion. Turned out my problems were related to my hips. If I could give them zero stars, I would.

From the check-in staff who are super polite and can answer any questions you might have then onto the doctors and there staff.I have yet to meet a single unpleasant nurse or check out person in the 13 years I have been treated there. Even during the remodeling everyone had a smile and greeted you like family! They all ask how you are doing and they seem to care if you aren't doing better.The 8 difference doctors have all taken great care of me and show compassion and concern while treating your injury.Finally the Physical Therapy department to me is staffed by Angels with healing hands! They have worked miracles on me after all 11 of my surgeries and the entire staff could not be nicer!The South Bend SBO office is the greatest and only place for me!

Josh Brody: Constant runaround with scheduling to approval of insurance. Aside from that, accepting a patient based on how the injury happened is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard and if their doctors didn't get into medicine to help people They certainly are not a doctor i want to trust with my health. Choosing to accept a patient based on if they get paid up front or not is atrocious and in my opinion immoral. They will not receive any further business from me

Jay Buchtel: They have some really caring Doctors. Their staff how ever leaves a lot to be desired. When you have to talk to office managers to get appointments when Dr wants, them, post surgery is the same problem, you've got real problems. This makes me sad, because M. Yeargler has gone out of his way to care for us

Mike Overstreet: I had total hip replacement surgery on 11/21/22 for an issue that started 50 years ago (literally). The surgeon was Dr Cien, and everything he told us in the pre-surgery appointments is what happened - I had the surgery on a Monday morning and walked out of the surgery center (with the aid of a walker) on Monday evening.Dr Cien and the nurses were very explicit with their instructions about what I needed to do to make a speedy recovery. I did what they said, especially regarding the medication to reduce pain (I had no pain AT ALL) and the physical therapy to accelerate my recovery.Specifically regarding the PT, Alyssa and Brandon were simply magnificent - they pushed when they knew I was ready to progress, and were essential to my speedy recovery.Long story short, I was back riding my exercise back 2 weeks after surgery and played tennis 6 weeks after surgery (not very well, but still). That to me is nothing short of miraculous. I can't emphasize enough how wonderful the entire SBO team was, from the beginning of this process at the end of the September, through the surgery and then the physical therapy that concluded at the end of December.I'm a very blessed person, and can't thank the SBO team enough for their professionalism and the magnificent job they did.

Pamela Dorgelo: Horrible, horrible experience. M Yergler is the cockiest Dr I have ever met. He did rotator cuff surgery on me, which was not successful. He refused to face that fact. It wasn’t his fault, the blame was always on someone else. I was told my shoulder just had to “fire up” (is this really a medical term?)All I ever heard from him at my appointments was how wonderful he was.Never once was I asked how I was doing. A year after my original surgery, I had another one at the Mayo Clinic, which was successfulI received a nerve block prior to Yergler’s surgery, which, almost 2 years later, has left me with permanent nerve damage to my thumb. He wasn’t responsible for that either. “That wasn’t me, that was the fault of the anesthesiologist.” Way to throw your coworker under the bus. Zero stars, if I could

Gary Miller: Dr. Warrender was an extremely professional, courteous and friendly person. He was a pleasure to talk to. He explained my issue and prescribed treatment in layman’s terms. Experienced improvement within a couple of days.

Peggy Schadler: I was really nervous but all the nurses, doctors and staff were super reassuring and caring! They explained every step and made sure I was comfortable. My knee replacement went like clockwork and recovery was a breeze! The physical therapy staff are exceptional! Because of them, after only 2.5 weeks I'm already able to walk only using a cane for distances! Kudos to Dr. Yergler and the SBO staff!

Mary Christeta Feeks: Dr Mencias is compassionate and professional and has a great bedside manner. I was very happy with the pain intervention he was able to willingly provide for my tennis elbow and appreciated that he ordered an EMG for my hand numbness and weakness due to carpal tunnel. He is thorough and efficient. Great staff from registration to check out. I was in and out, X-ray and all, in 30 minutes’ time. WOW. Highly recommend!

clint overmyer: Doctor Mencias performed surgery to repair a tendon in my arm, surgery on my elbow and repaired a finger. Very caring man. Explained everything about the surgeries, listened to my questions and has a warm bedside manner. Extremely happy with all the work he has done. Definitely will recommend him and would be happy to have him repair any issues I would have in the future. He is a true professional to his work.

Kari Maynard: Dr Mencias is definitely the best orthopedic surgeon I have had. I broke my arm & hand real bad in a horse accident & he fixed me up perfect. He’s been doing surgeries on me because of my OA & every time Ii have them, those parts he did surgery is even better now. He is very professional & knows what he’s doing. I highly recommend him for any shoulders down to finger tip issues. Two weeks ago I had surgery. I trust him totally that I didn’t even know what he was going to do in the surgery lol.

amodelme1: I can't rave about Dr. Mencias and his whole team at SBO enough! I just found him through Google and now that I've used him, I'm not sure why he doesn't have more reviews out here. I tore my UCL and he was extremely detailed, super quick (sometimes a little too quick but you just have to speak up and he'll slow down for you), had a little humor to him and stuck up for me when my MRI came back normal but knew something wasn't correct. Going through surgery prep was nerve wracking since you can't have family with you due to covid but all of the nurses were super friendly, the therapists in OT were amazing!! My results have been amazing so far and can't wait to see where it's at at the 3 month end mark.. Everyone that I've come in contact with over the last 2 months really have become like new friends that I hope I don't have to see in that setting again though 🙂 Highly recommend this amazing team!

Robyn Hall: Dr. Mencias treated my wrist after a car accident. The ER Doctor didn't set it correctly so I reached out to SBO to help, 7 months after the accident.I had fractured both the radius and the ulma. He was kind, compassionate and was direct in what he was going to do. I would highly recommend.

Jessica Lappin: Dr Mencias has been absolutely fantastic treating my hands and arms post car accident. He has done everything he could to help them non-surgically first, he is caring, compassionate, listens so well to my concerns. When he finally determined I needed surgery on both my arms, the procedures both went perfectly. I cannot recommend him, Joann, and his nursing staff (plus OT at SB Ortho), enough!!! Highly recommend, you will be in excellent hands!!

David Masterson: Been waiting over two weeks for them to get approval from insurance company. Called insurance company and office hasn't even contacted them. Dr didn't spend more than 2 minutes in the room. When I called to see what was taking so long the people were rude.

ben tackett: Not the best bedside manner but he is an excellent doctor nonetheless. Check his credentials. He's been caring for my trigger thumb and has avoided unnecessary surgery up until now. Rachel Ward: Not a very informative or helpful doctor. He really doesn't seem to care. I know you can't expect them to care about every patient but I've never had a specialist with such an apathetic demeanor. I have to leave work to come to these appointments and don't even get 15 minutes of discussion or an explanation I can understand. Very quick to just walk out and let a nurse deal with you.

Van: Dr. Clarke is an AMAZING Hand surgeon! He repaired my son's crucial injuries from stab wounds that my mentally ill brother caused. Dr. Clarke also repaired my mother's butchered hand surgery from a previous surgeon.Dr. Clarke is kind, soft-spoken, & has excellent beside manner. He explains everything well to the patient & takes time to explain it. He may come across off-standish but he is just reserved. I would have not asked for a better hand surgeon for HE has a gifted hands when it comes to hand surgery. I highly recommend Dr. Sylvan Clarke. He saved my son's hands. Forever grateful...

Sarah Thompson: Dr. Mahon and all of his staff are consummate professionals. Dr. Mahon took the time to explain why I was having issues with my hand and arm and several options on how to deal with the issues. He gave me his recommendations and created a plan on how we were going to approach the issues. From the office visits, to surgery and the follow up appointments, the care was excellent. He and his staff ensured I was at ease before the surgery and after the surgery, which helped me to relax and was extremely appreciated. For me, it is a bonus that he is a Military Veteran, because I believe in supporting our Service Members. I would highly recommend this Doctor and his staff.

Lindsay Hojara: Was referred to them because my Boyfriend has a SEVERE laceration to his right forearm (muscle, tendon, and nerve damage) .. Whoever the women is that i talked to had to be the RUDEST person i have ever talked to in the medical industry. After cutting me off mid sentence when i was explaining what happened and that my boyfriend doesnt have health insurance. i asked her if i could please finish explaining my situation to her so maybe she could help direct me to who COULD help. She continued to talk over me while i was speaking and told me and i quote " NOT HER PROBLEM HE DOESNT HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE!" and then she proceeded to hang up on me.Nice staff you got here. now I'm fighting back tears while i called back and tried to get the name of the women but naturally 'someone else' answered and didn't know who it was but was also completely unhelpful. She told me to call another doctor and when i asked if she had the number, she said "you can google it"wow, thanks for the rude runaround. I'm actually glad my boyfriend isn't being seen by your facility. if the front desk experience was that bad...i can only imagine what the rest of it would have been like.

Janney Marie: Dr. Mahon and his staff provided professional (and friendly) medical service re: my husband's carpal tunnel problem and also provided quick and professional medical assistance re: my elderly father's trigger finger and carpal tunnel problems. In both instances, we were very satisfied and happy with the quality of medical assistance we received - Dr. Mahon and the entire staff were very patient focused. Highly recommend Northern Indiana Hand and Wrist Center!

Jeffrey Petermann: This practice is completely crooked with their billing! First of all, my wife was given a test that was not covered by insurance...she was not informed that it may not be covered and it was a $300 test!!! Then, when insurance denied paying for the test, they still billed us a reduced charge, even though we NEVER AGREED TO THE TEST!!! We were never informed of the possibility that insurance wouldn't pay for it or given the chance to call our insurance or make an informed decision. Then, when I called to ask about the charge, their practice manager Jill Cozart, was rude and borderline hostile over the phone. She told me she wouldn't work with me or take the charge off because my wife could have declined the test...keep in mind they never gave her that opportunity to decline the test or to even call to check on the insurance overage for the test. To make matters worse, they then sent us a registered letter saying that unless we paid for the test they would not even see my wife again! I guess extortion for charges never agreed to is more important than a patients well being. BEWARE!!! Do not patronize unless you like being charged for things that you haven't agreed to and then being treated like dirt by their practice manager when you ask questions!

Erich Crump: Well first of all Ann at the desk made me feel welcome and was too kind, even though it is my birthday she was unaware and treated me as though I were family. Second, Dr. Saffel and her assistant were so warm and treated me with the best bed side manor you don't see often. Dr. Saffel explained everything to me so even I could understand and did what we thought was the best treatment for me at the time. It was an extraordinary meeting and I hope the therapy works. I have a followup in 3 weeks and look forward to good news by then. Thank you for the extra care Dr. Saffel and staff. Erich Crump

Ashley: My son and I have been coming regularly for the past few months due to a sports related concussion. I have hadany experiences with doctors in and out of office and Mrs. Saffel is by far the most caring one we have come across. I have read the other reviews on here and ask that one please take into consideration the fact that doctors have emergencies from time to time... Also please know that the care and dedication which goes into each patient is catered to each persons specific need(s). An appointment is a block of time and if several appointments are scheduled for that day one patient might come in with a strange set of factors which may contribute to a delay in the other appointments as a kind of domino effect... The nurses here are very understanding and are as timely as possible with each client. In the several months we have been coming we have only had a long wait once and we're very understanding of that... This is the best place in the area to come to.

Meaghan Wallace: my son's school note stated the wrong side his injury was on twice, after I called and asked it to be corrected, twice. Phone room woman was rude and hung up on me while transferring me. When we went in (scheduled appt), waited for an hour to see the dr and then he didn't show us the xray pictures and spent maybe 10 min with us. Not happy, going to SBO.

Corrina Milito: Exceptional care, professional staff, incredibly knowledgeable team. Dr. Messmer and team cared for me through a fracture last winter and continue to manage my injuries and challenges while respecting my fitness goals. I couldn’t ask for a better practice.
