Howard Park Ice Skating: what do users think?
Eddie Bingham: Great food and very positive atmosphere!!!
Paul Doe: The rink is really fun but we go there every weekend and they seem to never have sharp blades. The skates are Really Dull and that can causes strain on the body witch leads to injury it’s harder to skate and more prone to a hard fall on the ice :( other wise it’s great but please sharpen your skates Howard Park we pay good money for the passes and we want sharper blades!! Pleases!!!
Jacob Fleming: Great place for family, friends and date nights.
Melissa Pietrzak-Rodino: Kids had a blast!
Andrew Rasmussen: The ice skating experience is great! Love the park and the rink/course. Most of the staff is very helpful and friendly, especially the younger team members who give out the skates. But if you need help with something from the receptionist desk and Priscilla is working, I recommend you just forget it and walk away. She was not only unwilling to listen to me or help me, she was incredibly rude and nasty towards me. If it weren’t for the other staff members stepping in to help me after my interaction with Priscilla, I can guarantee I would never be back to ice skate here again and would be telling others to avoid as well. Maybe she would do better in a position where she doesn’t have to interact with people. Outside of that, ice skating in Howard Park is a great time.
Erick Smith: Loved it! Skate down and up non-steep inclines with slight bends. We spent most of the time on the trail, but the ice pond looked good for skating in a circle. Food at the public house was awesome, and the coffee was delicious. Great atmosphere with the fire pits.
Jen Ray: I take my kids to skate, and they have fun when it's not crazy busy. When it's super busy, if you need a trainer, you better get out there quickly. I wish they had more food/snacks available, though.
Abe Krause: Great place to go for a family night or just with friends!!! Very fun place, staff we're friendly and the fire pits around the rink we're very nice.
Nicholas Hart: Such a fun experiance so glad my family got a season pass.
Brian Collier: This is not the ice-skating rink of your childhood! Instead, it is fantastic in every way, with all sorts of features, and all the upgrades you would imagine in the 21st-century. When I moved back to the region, I was delighted to find that the community had invested heavily in the parks department as well, as in the other city, owned and operated venues in town! This place is the ice-skating on the cake that is the park system in South Bend! So proud to have been born here, and so glad to have come back here! This is a must see for winter visitors and residents alike!
Just Jill: I don’t know who does the sharpening of the skates, but we tried out six different pairs of skates between the three of us and the left skate was sharpened on the wrong side on every single pair. I would suggest an experienced person sharpen the blades always.Other than that it is a beautiful location and the path is wonderful to skate on if you can skate, but our skates kept slipping out from 1 foot consistently, making it very difficult. We hope to try it again with our own skates next time.
Analia Diaz: Really pretty… lots of room for play and creativity with family would suggest going here! And I would love to go back!!
Kim Macerata: Nice rink, really pretty at night. The kids liked skating the ribbon. The hot chocolate was great, but pricey since it’s South Bend Chocolate Factory. Had a great time and will go again.
Jessica Spoor: Beautiful atmosphere, friendly staff and overall a great experience for all ages!
Jamie Pike: We came here from out of state over the holidays and were blown away by this place! We brought family ranging from Grandpa and Grandma (who watched and played with the littles on the playground) down to age 9. The cost is unbeatable, it’s double where we’re from! The rink, playgrounds, bonfires, café, indoor viewing, restrooms, artwork—it’s all magic. We will be going back next year when we’re in town again! It’s also just beautiful at night with all the lights. Highly recommend.
Karsten Anderson: The atmosphere and scenery were amazing, with all the Christmas lights up. I think the ice skating could be a tad bit cheaper, but then again they have the nice little trail and kids carts to help them skate at no extra charge.I'll be back for sure.
Rickardo Yoder: Website not maintained. No information about having to have reservations and yet, reservations were required
Bailey Murphy: I love the rolling hills throughout the Howard Park Ice Trail! It makes it so much more fun than a normal ice rink. I bought a season pass and it's a really wonderful experience! I get to skip the line, go right to the skate window, and get on the ice. Such a wonderful park and ice trail!
Tammy Niezgodzki: Tuesday's is $5 to get in & includes skate rental...Great Deal! We Had a Great Time😊Thank You Howard Park for the Memories😉
Chloe Barker: Sessions for skating are for 90 minutes which was the perfect amount of time for my group of friends. We appreciated the little skating crutches for those of us who needed some help skating at first, and the railing along both sides is a huge plus! Also, love having the chocolate cafe hot chocolate available!!! There’s even a playground in the center (not on ice) for kids to play on all year round!I like to come here in the summer as well to practice roller skating. In the summer they have a splash pad which is so cool to have so much at one place that can be used all year round!
Landon Weldy: Horrible management, some of my friends got kicked off for “misusing” the assisted carts, and a staff member used foul language against me and my friends and started mocking us. Kept telling us to get off the ice when we did nothing wrong and was threatening to fight us. Just poor management, not impressed with how the situation was handled.

The Ice Box Skating Rink: what do users think?
Nick: COLD!
Vanessa Bredehoft: My daughter is in an out of town tournament there. The rink does not have livebarn, the streaming service most other rinks use. They offer a stream service that is not listed on it's website (missed the first game entirely because I could not find the link). The only stream option is a monthly subscription - not at all ideal for families that have a kid in just a couple games. Can't get anyone to answer the phone. Just a poor experience specific to my perspective as the parent of a kid playing two games at this rink in an out of town tournament.
Thomas Panozzo: Old school ice rink. Not fancy. Functional. Love it. Recently updated a little. Still basic and fun. Good people.
MJ Ferguson: Fun little ice rink and they even have heaters a small pro shop and a snack bar
Dean Ott: Ice is crisp and hard. We'll lit and seating has heaters
jennifer perry: Super cool place
John Brogan: Seems like an old factory building tuned into a pair of hockey rinks, lots of industrial charm here.
Greg Schell: Great place great people. IYHL..com for hockey. Irish youth hockey league. Contact ice box for figure skating. Pro shop on site. Skates sharpened. Nice snack bar when its open. Lol. 2 sheets of ice.
Jacob Anderson: Nice old place it's just really cold in there But it is hockey season so I guess it's OK
Diane Prentiss: Hockey is a chilling sport but today was better with heaters on..
Tim Loftus: Great place..nice people...family friendly outlet for kids thats something other than video games :)
Sandy Botka: Great place for kids hockey
TaddHockey 33: Good proshop the worker was very helpful to help me get a new stick
Jake Scott: Vending machines are broken and the manager wouldn’t even compensate us. Also concession is never open
Linda lukac: Great time watching hockey!
travis king: Victory!
Jay Moore: A friend of mine went there for a hockey tournament and described his experience to me. Sounded terrible! The workers were extremely rude to him and his family, along with other guests. When they went to talk to the manager of the place, they turned it around on him and said he was being the rude one when he didn’t do anything. They even kicked out a child younger than 6, and made them sit in a car companied. I am extremely upset that anyone would do that to a child. This ice arena is not as good as it sounds.
Jack Mulvihill: As soon as I walked in there was this old guy telling me to leave even though I was looking for my brother, the staff there couldn’t be more rude to me. I talked to management and they turned the story on me and said there are 2 sides to a story. It turns out that this happened multiple times, THEY KICKED OUT A 6 YEAR OLD. So yeah it sucks
Brian Miller: Nice facility, good spectator heat, concession stand open, and decent parking set up.
Dan Thompson: The ice box is where dreams are made, it's a place where boys become men, where dedication and hard work pay off and you make sacrifices for your team. To succeed out there on the ice you need teamwork, and it can create great moments you'll remember for a lifetime. As the great Gordie Howe once said: “You find that you have peace of mind and can enjoy yourself, get more sleep, and rest when you know that it was a one hundred percent effort that you gave – win or lose.” – Gordie Howe. Take that to heart. Whether you're the greatest on the team or not, everyone matters out there. So let's play some hockey, even if you're not Canadian, you're welcome out there on the ice, it's a place of inclusion for all. It's a tough and physical game, but God bless, it's wonderful, and God bless the ice box, this beautiful place is a blessing to all, I love it like a child. Thank you ice Box.
Kayla S: I do security so far it's not a bad place lol

Merrifield Ice Rink: what do users think?
katherine Page: It is a fun and nice place to go
Elizabeth Wise: fun experience family friendly. WAnt to go at night to see all the lights
Anita Owens: A blast
SJ Banaszak: Good prices, friendly staff, and a great place for some family fun.
Cara Manns: After checking the available hours, I decided to bring my 6 year and meet a friend and her son there at 6pm. Once we got there, the employee informs us that they will be closing in a half hr due to a low amount of skaters. We were bummed but after driving all the way I didnt want to let my son down. We had to pay full price even though they were cutting us short. After getting the kids and myself ready to skate (outside due to covid), I realize the seals the kids needed to learn to skate were inside and an additional $1each. Would of been nice for them to mention that when they seen two small kids with us. We will be going to Howard park from now on.
Logan Bontrager: Awesome place to skate!
Scott Novitzke: Good time great place to take the family.
Autumn Warcop: The rink is first come, first serve towards admission. It is a good day for ice skating! (Even if it is slightly drizzling.) THERE ARE NO INDOOR SEATS!!! (Even though there are benches and a fire place 🤔😡😭) You can drop your shoes off at the concession stand. They sell 2 sizes of hot chocolate and bottles of water. You can rent a skate-aid for $1. Those are 1st come, 1st serve also. Downside you have to pay an admission fee EVEN IF you are NOT skating. UPSIDE skate rental is included with admission and the skating area is well lit.
Carol Woods: Lots of fun. Not too crowded. Very reasonably priced
Paula Teegardin: So much fun!!!
Laura Vales: Super affordable activity for a larger family. Staff is friendly and helpful, and they had good COVID precautions in place without making you feel overwhelmed. Great place for new skaters.
Ben Barnett: For the past several years I have very much enjoyed this rank. Unfortunately the parks department has made some changes. They said there will be heaters they were not turned on tonight. Also have to pay just to be a spectator which you didn't have to in the past. Also no season passes this year so you have to pay for each trip. I will say the great same staff keeps returning each year.
Jay Park: Just opened today and it was great rink to enjoy. Thank you Mishawaka department of parks and recreation!
Ari: Amazing staff and Very helpful when you fall definitely one of my favorite places to go when I’m bored
Jeanne Brownell Mullet: I get the idea of the blue ride-on toys: to be more inclusive to small children. But not only do they completely destroy the ice so it isn't smooth for skaters, but they're flat out dangerous. Instead of younger kids and non-skaters hanging on the wall, so the older kids and adults can skate fast in the inside lane, there's toddlers and babies in every lane, some dramatically fake falling down every two seconds then lying on the ice for several minutes, kids pushing each other around on the ride on toys in front of people and the opposite way other skaters are going. I almost ran over several kids fingers even though the ice was so rough I couldn't even skate fast. Luckily I didn't. But ice skating can be dangerous. There's no supervision, no one enforcing rules, and it's like trying to ice skate though a chuck e cheese on a Saturday afternoon. Get rid of the blue things and bring back the olden times of young kids and new skaters holding onto the wall. It is safer for everyone and the ice gets less choppy quickly.
Scott Way: What a amazing spot to excape the heat! Affordable prices, great life guards, and did I mention cheeeaappp!
Armando Castillo: Oh yah
Jennifer Malkewicz - Kaplachinski: Family fun
Lori Caskey-Sigety: I adore this charming ice rink. It is very close to home. Great service from staff. :)
Deanna Gustafson: Cool
