Courtney Copenhaver: I love this store! It’s very relaxing to walk around and admire all the plants. There is something for every budget, whether it be a starter plant or a very large mature plant. Everyone is extremely friendly and knowledgeable of the plants they have. They can even repot your existing plants for you! I took full advantage of that service and brought in a monstera plant I purchased from Meijer and had them repot and fertilize it for me. I will be coming back when my plants mature and need sized up as well as to add to plant collection. Beautiful place!

We first used them to draw up plans for our landscaping, which included a home visit where the landscaper listened to our preferences and then suggested plants based on that and the growing conditions of our yard. We had several rounds of questions for them, and they never tired of providing us the information we needed to make the best decisions for us. From there, we decided to use them to source the recommended plants and deliver them for a very reasonable fee. We could not be happier with how everything turned out and HIGHLY RECOMMEND this business to anyone. A great place, with lovely, friendly people working there.

Sheila Le: I was amazed by this local nursery tucked away in South Bend. They have a little greenhouse and a big outdoor area. They sell indoor and outdoors plants. They also have trees. The prices were very reasonable. I bought a ZZ plant for 20 dollars. The employees were nice and super helpful. I recommend visiting!

Laura Bowler: When looking through the tiny greenhouse I noticed a few plants had major bug problems. I figured no big deal I would just inspect my plant and quarantine to make sure no bugs popped up. Now it has mealy bugs! Their plants are priced well but not worth it for the time you’ll have to take to get rid of the bug infestation that comes with it. Way too many plants crowded into the tiny 8 ft green house and if they have such little space how can they not stay on top of bug problems? I wouldn’t go here again or recommend them to any other plant enthusiast.

Andrea Stevenson: This nursery has the most beautiful green house with tons of indoor plants including lovely Jade and spider plants, among others. All the plants are remarkably healthy! Everything is very reasonably priced, and the employees are always near by, available and willing to help you find what you're looking for. There is a large selection of organic herbicides and pesticides as well as fertilizers. There is also bird feed and some feeders as well. In the spring I was able to find some live veggies and a huge selection of seeds as well! Some vegitables I'd never even heard of! The trees are very healthy and come in a range of ages. They have a ton of perinnals including all types of hostas, lilys, and wildflowers. I just can't say enough. This is the best nursery I've ever been to! And since they've been open 70 years, you can be assured that you're helping to support a long time local business.

Kate Sells: This place is the best! They have the cheapest and highest quality plants I have ever found! Would most definitely recommend.

Laurie Coffel: I can’t say enough kind things about The Botany shop. The owner, Ben, is very knowledgeable about all things that grow. I took a class there last weekend and learned a bunch. Their plant selection is great.

Leigh Lynes: I stopped into the Botany Shop to buy a plant to mark the first day of spring. Ben was very helpful to this plant newbie, steering me towards plants that would play nice with a beginner plant person and away from those that would be fussy or "pouty." He was super thoughtful in asking me if I had pets who like to nibble; pet-safe plants are easily identifiable in the store by a paw print sticker on the pot. I chose a sweet and pretty anthurium. Ben advised me on watering and the right-sized pot to buy for it, repotted it using the shop's special blend of potting soil, and put a plastic bag over it so it wouldn't get harmed by the cold on the walk to the car. Even if you're not in the market for a new plant, the shop is a fun browse, full of unique items made by local artisans. Ben and the Botany Shop are South Bend treasures and I'll be back to add more green to my life!

Nakia Herron: This is the place the go if you love plants. Drop off a cutting from your plant and pick up a new plant. Cool other things like oils and incense, cards knick-knacks and great staff to help you find a good fit.

Bee Christie: Originally I loved this store and hopefully still can. Last time we stopped in most of the plants were infested with fungas gnats so it deterred me from buying anything I really wanted. I just got over a FUNGAS gnat outbreak at home so I didn’t wanna risk bringing them into the home. Staff is amazing though. Hopefully this issue can get fixed quickly.

They listened to my wants and explained their design as well as showed us pictures of all of the plants included in the design. They even visited after the installation to go over my irrigation requirements. I could not have asked for nicer people to work with on this project. That includes the crew that did the tear-out and installation of plants and trees. They were efficient and easy to work with during the whole process.I have had nothing but high praise for the new landscape. I highly recommend Ginger Valley for anyone's Landscaping needs.

Was excited to give my money to a small business that had fair pricing! Ordered bulk rock, several slabs of lime stone, some medicine for my tree, and was planning to get all of my plants there.Was dissapointed that I had to wait almost 3 weeks to get my rock. But I adjusted my plans, scheduled a day off work, ordered the last bit of things I needed that they didn't have at Ginger Valley and I was ready to "rock".Well, come June 11... 3 weeks after I ordered, phone rings... Ginger Valley sold the last bit of rock to "some landscaper". Never mind I fully paid for my rock along with delivery! Jist like that... Rock wasn't available. Maybe they can deliver it monday. Nevermind the fact that this customer had already bought that rock. It was MINE! So, cancelled my order. You clearly don't want my money because no one even batted an eye when I asked for a refund. Would have been cool if you at least cared...It's becoming increasingly hard to do business with places around here. No one seems to want my money. Glad there's enough free cash floating around that businesses don't need mine! 🤷🏼‍♂️good luck ginger Valley. We could have been good friends.

Camelrider: Full service. Great selection. Great people. Questionable return policy. Had one issue recently and I wish It would have turned out differently. Purchased a magnolia and the night before I picked it up had gotten freeze damage. All the leaves dropped, and ultimately it did not survive the planting. Shared multiple pics that Summer and Fall. Dead. Got 50% store credit because I did not have them plant it. I'm pretty sure it was not the planting that killed it, but more so the fact that it had no leaves to help it recover. Should have never taken it at time of pickup. All in all, great store and people though. Found four Magnolias at another Greenhouse. Greg was helpful, but was bound to the store policy on partial store credit.

Dana Bassett: As an artist the lumber section of Home Depot has always held a certain allure for me, but usually when I show up at HD I get weird looks from employees curious why a girl might want to buy some 2x4's. I also move every year so my annual Home Depot trip is a must. I HATE that! Thankfully, the Home Depot on Western is somehow not only pretty gender neutral, they also have a bunch of super helpful ladies on staff. I know gender troubles and Home Depot might seem strange, but I really appreciate the customer service of HD employees-- sometimes it's just impossible to find anything without them! They're return policy is also really awesome (especially when it comes to returning plants that have died within 30 days).

Anthony: A wonderful garden center with great prices on plants. Everything looked vibrant and healthy. The staff was very helpful. Someone greeted me when I arrived, which was nice. She didn’t have all the answers to my questions so she was able to quickly radio someone for assistance and that staff member was able to answer all my questions.I came in just 15 minutes before closing, and yet, not once did they rush me even though we had gone 10 minutes past closing by the time I left the garden center. There are a lot of large trees on site. They had all the varieties I was looking to find. Suggestions were made to look at some mature trees at their tree farm just down the road. I’ll be heading over there this week. Overall, such a great experience! Thank you 😎

vora Mai: I give it a one star because on my way to make a purchase (2 Evolution Hydrangeas) a staff member walked right past me and HOCKED A BIG LOOGIE on the bushes next to the doors leading into the shop. He did not give two F's who saw him or heard him. Very disgusting, very disrespectful to the plants and customers. What if the customers brought his spit home from purchasing those plants??! This is unfortunate because my yard is undergoing a massive makeover, we have been planting all sorts of trees and shrubs from other garden shops and was so excited we found this one. I don't think I'll be coming back here.
