Jared Laskowski: Got summoned for Jury duty for the first time. Never had to go through the process before so I don't know the procedure. The bailiff in courthouse 3 upon entering was very rude and demanding. He asked me what judge I was there for, and as I'm trying to find the name on my summons he impatiently and very demanding says "TOP RIGHT CORNER!" I'm nervous, I've never been in this kind of setting before and now I have this guy yelling at me and as I'm skimming around trying to find the name he demands it a second time. Finally I find it and they have me walk through the metal detector. It goes off because of my belt and he makes a remark about it going off because of my "ankle monitor." Like why was that necessary? Anyways as the second bailiff waves the handheld metal detector around me another juror walks in, so the rude bailiff directs his attention towards them. The second bailiff gives me the okay and turns away. I was never given any instruction on where to proceed so I'm just standing around and I start reading a bulletin board with my judges name on it thinking that might have some information of where I need to go. First bailiff turns and sees me and says very sternly "Sir! You need to go down that hall to the room at the end. You shouldn't be reading that anyways." Then why is it posted out in the open for anyone walking by? I apologize and proceed to where he directed. While in the waiting room I overhear conversations of the other jurors commenting on his rude demeanor. One person even said that she had been summoned for jury duty three times during 2022 and he was rude to her every single time. I think this is completely unacceptable. I was optimistic and even excited about getting a chance to be a part of the judicial process, but this interaction has ruined any semblance of respect I had for any of it. Why is this bailif treating random citizens being summoned to serve their civic duties like this?
