Jo Brockberg: This place is beautiful! And nothing should stop you from visiting. One of the best ways to keep vandals and criminals out of places like this are to bring positive attention by our presence. Airports are scarier than cemeteries.We drove through there in July and it actually looked much better than we expected it to, based on what some of the other reviews said. We only noticed minor issues regarding 'the condition' of the grounds. I've seen people's yards look much worse.Along with the impressive and old and important monuments here, this is the resting place for some of this area's first settlers. Their legacies deserved to be learned about, their graves to be seen and thought about. Please just go visit.
Shaune Lapp: I walk my dog here everyday. The Studebaker grave is quite remarkable!
Dash Jeffreys: There is so much history in this cemetery. However I decided many years ago that the neighborhood is just too unsafe to get out of the car and stroll around. South Bend has truly ignored it's past, (other than Studebaker, get over it) and has therefor lost it's way. Many many sights such as this one have been neglected or just absorbed into the rotten areas of town that no one knows about them. Do not bother trying to find this place. Instead visit the old cemetery at Notre Dame.
C Dub: Every time I tried to visit the cemetery it's always closed, with no way to get in. I love history and I would love to see where the tombstones of historic figures are buried. I would also like to see if I have any family members buried there. I read the review of a reviewer who said they don't know who is buried there. I do know that some of the Studebakers were buried there. Also, former Vice President of the United States of America AND Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Schuyler Colfax is buried there. And I believe some members of the Oliver family of Oliver Chilled Plow Works.
Lisa Mayne: It is heart breaking to see the condition of this cemetery. If you're going to boast it's historical relevance, then it should be taken better care of.
Thelma Scott: The lack of information for this cemetery is the reason for the low rating. There needs to be an information board listing the persons buried there and the location of the persons. My husband and I walked through the cemetery for almost 2 hours with out success.

I have had to unfortunately visit them after the passing of animals and I can't say enough about each and every person that works there. Chris Wallace: My granddaughter and her baby are buried there and they will not let my daughter (who had "full custody and control") place a headstone where they lay because my granddaughter's father says he doesn't want what my daughter picked out. According to Southlawn, the two have to agree. That will never happen so, because of Southlawn, my granddaughter will never have a headstone. That's just terrible!

Tommie Herring: I recently visited Highland Cemetery to address several concerns that involved elevating / lifting my parents headstones that had sunk down to ground level over the years. I was pleasantly surprised by the Outstanding Assistance and professionalism shown to us by employees (Lisa and Jason)!Due to my living in Virginia, visiting both my parents and other relatives has been difficult and disappointing to say the least; however, Lisa and Jason made my wife and I feel as if we were the only people in the room and our concerns were understood - not minimized!We were assured our concerns would be addressed right away and every effort taken to correct any and all issues with my parent's headstones sinking low to ground level. For some this might seem trivial but to my family and I very concerning to say the least.We were made to feel no issue was too small and or unimportant! After flying back to Virginia, just as the promised, both Lisa and Jason called us to not only address our initial concerns but assisted us with other family members concerns!The passing of a loved one can be an extremely difficult time; however when there are people like Lisa and Jason, who go out of their way to offer assistance, losing a love one becomes less heartbreaking.Thank you Lisa and Jason for your Outstanding Assistance - you both made our day - please keep up your great work!!!! Ronald Casimer: Jason is the most caring person you can work with. We had issues and one by one he worked them out. We are 80 years old and do not live in SB so all this was done by telephone and e-mail. We are just thrilled with the end results. Thank You again Jason.
Scott Herczeg: I met with Jason Pelton about finalizing arrangements for my parents. They had prepaid for the space in the cemetery but there was some details that weren’t clear to me. Jason and Lisa Domricheva went over every detail with me and clearly explained all of them. My visit with them was very important to me and they treated me great. Highly recommend both of them.
Renee Lacy: Thank you Jason from Highland Cemetery. My grandfather passed in 1974 and his records have been lost twice!! I called the office because I wanted to make sure finally he had a headstone put on his grave site. Jason and I played investigator and found his plot and also additional information. Jason was patient, professional, and super helpful. Finally my grandfather is getting the headstone that should have been placed years ago. I live out of state so to make this happen, Jason setup a conference call showing me all my options, he also went out and walked the grounds to show me where my grandfather was buried and his wife who was buried next to him, and he placed a work order to clean up her site and the have her headstone adjusted for a better fit. This was and is a sensitive moment and he handled it perfectly. Jason helped me pick a beautiful blue pearl stone which is absolutely beautiful which I can't wait to see the finished product. This is a surprise for my mom and the goal hopefully is to have the stone set by her birthday. Thank you Jason for everything you've done to assist this could've been possible without your help. Job well done.
Brenda Moore: I gave four stars because my family members have been laid to rest either at Highland or Riverside. We the Scruggs Family have been very pleased over the many years we’ve dealt with the staff there. I recently had my mother and grandmother’s vase stolen from their gravesite and just one phone call and both vases were replaced within 24 hours. I thank the staff for their sense of urgency to address my concern.Thank YouScruggs Family.

sad girl: only upkeeps where the new plots are. back in the older lots the grass is uncut and there are weeds everywhere come on, peoples loved ones are here. DO BETTER
Georgy N: We went out on Memorial Day to decorate family graves, none of the sites were mowed or taken care of. There was no water available and tall weeds everywhere. You would think that especially for Memorial Day they would have at least tried to make the place presentable. Very sad as this is our families final resting place

It concerns me that they don't know how to read a map, of either the proper cemetery location or of who is buried where. How many others have been misplaced?2 families have been disrespected today because of the incompetence of others.

Melissa Krol: Absolutely Poor Etiquette for someone who lost a loved one and have to pay over $200 for just some Etching on a stone that just got done since March... And didn't even get a call that it was done.. Sad

frank maure: I went to Larry at Carl Kay to see what he could do for me in engraving a large stone as a memorial to a lost friend that we were installing on a golf course. Larry and his staff were extremely professional and caring, which made me feel comfortable because it was an emotional issue, and put my mind at ease with how they could help me. He was more then willing to go find the stone the size that i was looking for....and he did....and took the message i wanted on it and put it on the stone for my approval. Once i saw the cad drawing on the stone he said he could have it ready in 2 days, which was a day before our golf outing to which we wanted to reveal it. He delivered and set the stone up on the 7th tee at Erskine golf course...in case you would like to see it... and did not leave until i was completely satisfied it was the way i wanted it. Needless to say everyone was very impressed ...and emotional...once they saw the stone. It was very reasonably priced and the effort and willingness to make sure it was done right is a testament to the professionalism of this company. I would recommend Carl Kay Memorials to anyone who wants to have something done for a loved one because he took the time to do it right and he treated me like family and that's hard to find in this day of age.. Thank you again Larry for everything you did and you have a customer for life...and death too when the time comes......sincerely, Frank Maure
