Erasmus Books: what do users think?
J. Brown: Best bookstore I've come across in this area! My new 2nd favorite bookstore. Dickson Street Book Exchange won't ever fall from the #1 spot.
Michael Teener: It’s a fantastic eclectic bookstore. Thought I would call it more of a book shop.
Kevin Mann: Awesome bookshop. Can't recommend it highly enough. A book lover's place.
mary chupp: Erasmus is everything a book store ought to be
Ryan Cameron: This is a fantastic book shop. It has the most interesting unique selection of any shop I've been to.
Brett Roberts: By far one of the best kept secrets about South Bend! There is always something intriguing to buy each time I make it up to Erasmus.
Bryan Aker Jr: This place is a true hidden gem. It's an absolute treasure trove of older books. I picked up a book that's almost 130 years old for 12$. Beautiful selection of books, in a historic older house in the middle of south bend that not many people know. I suggest (if you like books) to go there and discover it for yourself.
Deen Tuggle: Very unique bookstore located in an old house. Very friendly people and a cute dog to great you! Books everywhere around the house, floor to ceiling. You may just find something you didn't know you were looking for.
Ryan O'Malley: Great used book store. The man who runs it is very kind and very helpful. Highly recommend
Eileen Budo: What a delightful book shop! Packed with all sorts of wonderful books and the owner is a very nice gent who will share a reco if you ask. Definitely worth a stop and be prepared to spend a while hunting treasure!!
Jennifer Fugate: A hidden gem full of treasures!
alexander deluna: LOTS OF BOOKS! Super intriguing place will come by again to by books. Only downfall is that they can not search up books or what they have on file... but you can find some good hidden gems!
Todd B. Vick: This past week on a trip to South Bend, Indiana to see a good friend, I visited a nice, out of the way, discrete, bookshop. Nestled in a house in a typical neighborhood is Erasmus Books. If you do not have the actual address, you might pass it up; especially if you miss the small “Books” sign hanging from the outside house frame. Inside, from floor to ceiling, there is a treasure trove of wonderful books. If you are ever in South Bend, DO NOT miss this shop. It is well worth the stop!
M B (OCTOMJBBER): Full of character! So many books selection amazing and very friendly staff both 2 and 4 legs!
Maeve O'Brien: We were greeted by a beautiful dog with one blue eye and one brown eye, and the shop owners were kind enough to put up with our mischief of taking photos and goofing around, the book selection was wide and there are two floors. Ground floor and basement. It is all decorated so beautifully and felt like home. If you want to visit it is in a neighborhood and it looks like a normal house but it has a sign saying books, and you enter on the side. I definitely recommend this place.
Deireann O'brien: It was the cutest little bookstore!! We were greeted by an adorable dog, and everyone was very helpful. The prices were affordable yet fair as well. 100/10 experience
John H. The Robinson: Best used and rare bookstore in the Midwest. A true gem of a place tucked away in the heart of South Bend. The place to go for hard to find texts from theology to art history. Their selection is amazing and their prices are excellent. I always leave wanting to come back and buy at least one more book the next time I am in town. The owner and staff are brilliant and friendly, but also happy to let you drift through the shelves for hours on end. The third most comfortable chair in the world is tucked away in their basement. Within walking distance of the lovely city Farmer's Market.
Aaron Morrison: Best theology/philosophy section in Indiana
B Will: The kind of used bookstore that is rarer and rarer these days: where you go in and wander and find what you didn't know that you needed.
xiaozhi zhu: The owner of this store has a fantastic taste of book and is helpful and kind. I have been at Notre Dame for five years and I am so glad that I have visited this book store right before I leave here.
Anthony Krut: Surprised to find such a treasure. Shelf after shelf of used books. Something for everyone.

Friends of the Library Bookstore: what do users think?
Jessica Sue Johnson: Great place to get books, magazines, cds, dvds for a great price. Only downside about this place is its only open one day a week. But I love this place and recommend it to anyone who likes to read books/magazines or watch movies or listening to music. Check it out!

Brenna Robinson: I always love how many good books I find for super cheap, and the staff is friendly.

Book Trader: what do users think?
Michelle Achterberch: I feel like my friend and got ripped of. Not to mention I drove from Elkhart 3 times because they weren't open when web site said it was..
Bailey Dant: Taking used textbooks to Book Trader was so fast and easy! We got fair compensation for all that we brought, and we were even able to donate books that we didn’t feel like lugging back home! Highly recommend!
Fearitself: This is the best place to drop off your books. I surprisingly got more money for it than I thought I would!
Gabi Reinoehl: Recently graduated and sold some old textbooks for the first time this week and let me tell you, this place is WONDERFUL. The man who I am assuming runs the business is absolute lovely. He is so kind and friendly, which is SO appreciative. And what I love most is how this business is truly representing a great cause: helping those in need and doing their part to help the environment. I was so impressed and loved what this place stood for so much that I’ve been telling people all about it and even recommended it on my instagram story. Absolutely recommend!!!
Jasmine Chatman: I wish I could get more for my school books sometimes.
Angelee Mcknatt: 10/10 ExperienceI was a little skeptical since I didn't have anyone I personally know that has donated or interacted with the business, but it was everything the positive reviews said. Grea & friendly costumer service.
Staphany Wilson: Book Trader - South Bend is a great resource to buy or rent textbooks. Considering I live in the Elkhart area, I love that I can call to see if there is a book available and they either tell me at that moment or call me back with the information within a few minutes. The books are in great shape and are reasonably priced compared to the campus bookstore. The gentleman at the counter is always polite and helpful also!
Shelby Anderson: Great experience selling my textbooks. Pleasant customer service, good buy-back pricing and it was fast/efficient -- just a few steps away from IUSB's campus! Definitely told all my friends who graduated with me to try out Book Trader to sell their books, too!
Jackson & Cheyanne: I don’t know why people are saying it’s a good place maybe I went to a different location but the guy that helped totally roped me off for my books that should have one to almost $100 and only said they were worth $30 for all 6? Can someone please explain how I can get my money’s worth ?
Samantha rheams: Great experience! Awesome customer service.
Autumn Ringer: Friendly service, and they have great prices and deals!
John Jones: Very helpful and friendly customer service and quick cash for old textbooks on the spot.
Caitlin Gaffney: My friend buy's school books there
Marjorie Breslin: Great selection of books for college students. Mirzad is very helpful and listens to what you need and gets those books to get you through school!
its Quickzy: If your short on cash and have books this is the place to be.
Cyndi Rosander: Now its out of business....that tells all
Patty Cummins: A good place to buy or sell your college books and right near IUSB Campus. This is a small store and they don't buy all your books back or have what you need to buy all the time. Limited parking available and there is no restroom available.
Alexis Maike: I held onto by books for too long and brought in 4 years worth of textbooks. The gentleman behind the counter was great! He went through every book and told me what would and wouldn’t be worth money, and then the books that I could get cash for, he took them anyways and said he’d take care of them. It’s great to just be free from the 50lbs of books I had!
Erin Finch: Walked in and was helped right away.I was given more for my textbooks then I thought I would get! Definitely selling ALL my textbooks here!
Liz Moore: I was super nervous coming in, because I have finally graduate and I've got this milk crate full of books and I was so ready to be looked at weird. But I had such friendly help and I didn't feel like a stranger, it was easy and fast. There's not a lot of places in town to sell books and honestly this was my favorite place.
Angelette Johnson: My fitst time.going in ttraders customers service was very professional friendly and nice stop by you will love it tell all your friends about you want regret it

Griffon Bookstore: what do users think?
Rob Monroe: The Griffon has a fantastic selection of board games, role playing games, and books both new and used. They also have a huge amount of miniatures, both for fantasy games and historic wargames. This store is one of my favorite spots in downtown South Bend.
Thomas Moore: Walked in and we could tell we weren’t gonna be here long. Mostly comprised of board games and dark occultist items. Books in the basement but not anything worth buying or reading. Not sure why they even call this a bookstore. It should be called a board game shop with unwanted books in the basement. Not coming here again.
brandon k: Nerd nirvana
Aaron Rosheck: Great place! Nice atmosphere and friendly service. I have been here many times over the years and I plan to make more visits in the future.Highly recommend buying your miniatures, dice, books, and board games from local places like Griffon.
Robert Kerr: Great variety of board games, tabletop role-playing games, historical miniatures, and books. They even have a section in the basement for used and discounted board games. Staff has always been friendly and helpful whenever I was there. I usually drop in if I have the chance.
Tristan Witt: They host public game nights on Fridays! Great selection and good suggestions from staff if needed.
James Munoz (SaltLight7): The absolute best place for all types of board games. And the staff is always knowledgeable and friendly.
Bill Swathwood: Great selection books, board games and role-playing supplies
Ashley: Use to come here all the time and buy board games. I always dealt with a woman and had no problem but the old gentleman has been there the past few times I’ve gone. Today I wanted to sell some games and I brought 10 games in that totaled over several hundred dollars in retail value. Of course I recognize that I’m not gonna get anywhere near retail but the amount I was offered was a waste of time and insulting. He was wanted to offer $50 for 10 games. If you know about board games the average price of a game is $40–$60 so he wanted my ten games for the cash price of 1. Of course we told him no then he had the nerve to offer us $40 for 3 of the games and expected to give us $1.57 each for the remaining 7 😂 what a waste of time. I’m all about supporting local businesses but from now on I’ll stick to Amazon where their games are cheaper anyway.
Tom Vogl: Icon of an independent bookstore that's kept its identity since the 1970s. Dover classics, games and used books. Staff is knowledgeable and engaging. It just feels good being there.
Hannah Kunz: Stumbled into Griffon one day and was amazed at their immense amount of board games! Had a great time wandering around and taking it all in.
Jason Steven: One of the best, if not the very best, local game stores around. They have card games, board games, RPG's, books, and more. The owner is a wonderful person who is pleasant and knowledgeable. I love this place and can't recommend it highly enough.
Deen Tuggle: Lovely little games and book store in downtown South Bend. Wide range of board games and a nice selection of books downstairs. Very nice and friendly staff as well.
Eric (Beave): Such a cool spot. Had used books and games, very fun place. Had a ton of new games and dice. Very friendly staff.
Bryan Aker Jr: Great used book selection. They also have quite the supply of ttrpg supplies.
Michael Duttlinger: The staff is amazing. The selection is great.
Cory Gehring: I love this local bookstore. The owner is always happy to help people look for a game, book, or accessory/mini. Very friendly. Great for getting your children into gaming.
uppity woman: Great customer service
Dmitriy Y: Nice, local game store. Good selection and good decor.
Matt Steigely: I absolutely love this place, great selection of board games and a few hard to find gems. They are so nice when i brings in the kiddos, the book store section downstairs has a great selection of used books. Also has all your Dungeons and Dragons needs, and tons of other table top rpgs.
Melody Muckenfuss: Board games, D&D, books... Do yourself a favor and go spend an afternoon browsing.

Half Price Books: what do users think?
Jeremiah Triston Hicks: Great location! Very lucky to have a HPB up here!!!!
David Sprinkle: WE LOVE HALFPRICE BOOKS! I never leave empty handed. We make sure that we always stop here before going to any of the other book stores in the area.
J Edgington: Found books I've been looking for, half the price or less.
Nicky boi: I love HPB!! Selections are added pretty regularly and the prices can't be beat! Great for finding movies/books that are difficult to find. If you can't find what you're looking for, the people at the side desk are super helpful and can have the item you're looking for sent to you for a small fee if the item is in their system.
Rufus Ayres: We are moving and had a lot of old dad's and books to sell. They make it really easy, and we got enough cash to buy our dinner.
Shirley Zuroff: The best place to buy a book or two. Prices are excellent..
Dawn Carr: I have always had a great experience here. My only qualm is that I plan on buying one or two books but leave with 15. 😂
Gideon .Oberlin: Very nice, good prices
Kerry Hyde: Very nice associates that are helpful. Great selection of children's books.
Destinee C: Nice and clean store with a great selection!
Tim “Big T”: Great selection of metaphysical books.
Tia Rice: Since my previous review was deleted (sketchy much?), I am going to try again. I took in 7 books to sell and only received $10. I was in so much shock I didn’t even think to decline the offer. I take care of my books, all were in like-new or unread condition, and they came out within the past year. I would not recommend selling your books, or anything else, to this business. It is horrible they would take advantage of people like that, and it’s clear by the other one star reviews I am not the only one.
M B (OCTOMJBBER): Great service and selection, a little cheap on reselling items
Andrea _: I like that the books are cheaper. The selection is great. On some non-book items, it's obvious they don't know how much their worth. This can mean heavy underpricing or overpricing. However, on the selling side, the people behind the counter really don't know what they're doing. I literally tried to sell a book I had just bought from them as a test, and they said it wasn't in good enough condition to sell. They went into detail about the "damage." The prices for items they buy from you are always low.
Robert Kerr: They have a variety of books and used board games for sale, up to 50% depending. I found a few things at a great price. The last time I visited they had some Playboy magazines on display in the back corner. Might not be an issue for some adults, but I know others may be more sensitive about those kinds of things (myself included).
Zabuza655: I like the comic book and graphic novel sections
xXInsaneLoboXx: Great place to get books, comics, table top games and lots of other stuff always have good prices and new selections.
Carrie Wack: I love love love this store! I never walk out without buying anything.
Roberto C. Santos: I think they had more selections than Barnes and Nobles...lol
Cynthia Yankauskas: They always have something new, fairly priced; it's hard to leave here without a mountain of books.
Bill J Goodman: Great store but it seems that there prices are going up

Haberdasher Heather: Beautiful campus
Cameron Wolf: Friendly employees, and they helped me out.
Vanessa Cales: Love it. So peaceful
John Gladden: The staff here are always very helpful and friendly.
Marcus: Very overpriced.
Rachel Eaton: Got what I needed.
James Kauzlarich: The bookstore is underground between Northside Hall and the library. You can reach the bookstore from both Northside Hall and the library by going to the basement and taking the tunnel that runs between the two.All the books and supplies here are expensive, look online first.
Ricky Vega: Do not buy books there. Always look for books online first before you buy them here.
Ryan Holloman: Start looking at other prices for books other places. The bookstore overprices everything. Do not buy text book here if you want to save money.
Efrain Ornelas: lots of supplies and spirit gear. find anything you need there
Dom Sobieralski: Parking without a permit on campus is tricky without Handicap sticker or Quarters for the meter!
Bailey Carpenter: Expensive and takes to long
Alexandra Fisher: Great service.
Jessica OBlenis: Pricey
Hunter Richman: This place is always clean and has friendly staff. However, the prices here are high especially when it comes to school supplies like notebooks, note cards, etc.
Benson Jengela: The best
Crystal Winter: They are awesome! Treat each person with respect!!

Idle Hours Bookshop: what do users think?
R T: Josie is a good woman and runs a great shop. I appreciate she's willing to work with local authors.Update: I'm sorry to hear the storefront is closing, but I wish all the best to Josie and the family in the transition to online sales. I'll miss setting up in front of the store, and chatting with random people about my books (Terrifying Tales: 13 Scary Stories for Children.)
M B (OCTOMJBBER): Good selection and friendly staff. Sad they are closing :(
Anne Marie Messmer: This little hole in the wall is the perfect place to disappear into while checking out downtown South Bend. Just when you think you've reached the back of the shop, there's another turn and a new sections to discover! I am never disappointed. I always walk away with a smile and a book (or four!) in my hands.
Jaan Raabinsen: Great little bookstore in the heart of South Bend. Full of hidden gems. My only complaint is that they aren't open late, but I don't hold that against them. Small stock, almost cramped quarters, but it is filled with that lovely old bookstore smell (from the glue and paper of the old books), and is always a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Donovan Gaffney: If you even think that you have a rare or vintage book do not bring it here they will rip you off and scam you. You’re better off trying to sell it yourself on eBay or taking it to literally any other bookstore.
Nicole Landrum: My daughter and I love this store. We always find interesting, older books that you can't get at other stores.
Ang H: A good spot to find old books. I was hoping there was a bit more newer ones to choose. A nice location but store is a bit cramped
Ann Carol Nash: I love this shop. It has a wonderful selection and is run by very friendly and intelligent people. It is a real asset to our city.
longbowman89: Great !!!! 📙📘📗📚📚📚📚
Nathan Nye: I really enjoyed looking around! What a gem!
Nick Muraya: Great place to find interesting books of all genres
Archivist Sethia: Don't know what you're looking for? Love the smell of old books? This is the place for you. They didn't have what I wanted but that didn't stop me from finding a book or two. Good staff. Will be back again.
Marc Anon: Really charming book store filled to the brim from floor to ceiling. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the scent of old books. The lady behind the counter was so nice and helpful. They were playing this really beautiful music and I just wanted to spend all day here. If you miss the small local book store then you'll love this place.
Preston Stell: I was not impressed by the selection nor the organization of the books. I'm not always very picky about these things, but having two other book stores in the area that are very well organized makes these issues a bit more pertinent. When you begin looking at the fiction section, you get to the letter "m" and the section continues at a very different place. Things outside of this section were a bit more cluttered, so it made it both difficult and unenjoyable to try to find a gem in the stacks. It's unlikely that I will return.
Mary Pottenger: Love this bookstore! Wish it had better hours so I could go after work more often. Wonderful, helpful people work here.
Omar Lizardo: Great place to browse through used books.
Keegan Carrasco: The store is not very big, so not a huge selection. Many of the books are also overpriced. There was an old mass market copy of a Shakespeare play that had something like 75 cents as the retail price on the cover, but the little sticker with the price said $3. This doesn't make sense to me. To get much better value, go to the Griffon Bookstore a few blocks down.
Gregory Cousins: Great little bookshop. You can find some really neat old books if you poke around enough.
Mary Malone: Small, cramped, jam-packed with an eclectic selection of used books....it's exactly what I'm looking for in a used bookstore.
Trish G: Fantastic cozy indie bookstore in downtown South Bend. Friendly and very helpful owners.. I could spend hours in here just browsing.
Kaiyra K.: If you have a specific book in mind then this might not be your spot but if you're not sure what book you might need then this is a gem. Lots to look at in this cozy hole in the wall.
