India Cafe: what do users think?
Jennifer McQueen: Food: 4/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 4/5More
Michelle: This place is no good anymore.I've eaten here a lot in the past and it's always been great. Today I went and had the worst Indian food. Our Pakora was fried way too long. The Curry Chicken looked like a soup. Our to go containers were way to full, so everything in the bag was covered in Curry Chicken. I paid way too much for what it is.
Brandon Cooley: Do not eat here I repeat do not eat here... I clean the kitchen and it's a ROACH INFESTATION... I don't mean 1 or 2 I mean INFESTATION.. Do not here. Call the HEALTH DEPARTMENTFood: 1/5|Service: 1/5|Atmosphere: 1/5 …More
Ernesto Manzon: A different variation of Indian food. All that we ordered was outstanding.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Aloo Gobi, Garlic Naan, Butter Roti, Shahi Paneer …More
Kevin Chu: Buyer BEWARE: I was excited to try this place for the first time, but my experience was underwhelming at the very least. I intended to take out lunch (goat curry) after looking at the menu in the restaurant. The price on the menu is $15.99. The POS system printed a bill of $17.99 + tax for a total of $19.61. I questioned the cost and a manager (maybe owner) came out to address my concern. He proceeded to tell me that the price went up $1.00 (when it actually went up $2.00) and that is why the total was $19.61. Of course the math didn't make sense and he eventually stood corrected as his own POS system reflected $17.99 as the true cost. The manager/owner refused to honor the $15.99 listed in ALL of their menus and claimed that all of the menus are old. There was no notification at the beginning of the experience, on the menu, or even communicated until I questioned the amount, just a surprise increase on the bill. Fortunately, I had not dined in and was not presented with the surprise bill at the end of my meal (that clearly the manager/owner would not compromise on even though it is clearly error caused by the restaurant). Poor communication, poor business practice, poor customer experience. Advice: if you choose to eat here, question the cost as a surprise 12% increase certainly makes a difference when evaluating the value of your experience. There are plenty of other Indian restaurants in the area so a poor experience (and surprise price increases) before even trying the food will not help this restaurant in the long term.
Michael Haughney: Excellent food and service! Definitely recommend!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Etiwanda Beard: My husband and I had eaten here before. It was great. This time was different. It was horrible. I should have known when the place was empty at lunch. My husband had perfectly prepared lamb chops before. He ordered them this time and THIS is what was put on the table before him. Disgusting!!Atmosphere: 1/5 …More
Pavan Rao: Tried lunch here. The owner is nickel and diming patrons for things not even on the menu. Not coming back.
Lauren Pilkinton: Amazing food! Went here last night for dinner around 6-7. OMG! I couldn't have had a better meal. It was so filling and flavourful~ I took many leftovers homeVegetarian options: They have an entire list of vegetarian options on the menu. I got the veggie platter for an appetizer. I never knew veggies could be so flavourous
Himanshu Mistry: Food: 1/5|Service: 1/5|Atmosphere: 1/5More
Hank Copeland: Fantastic food, though they sometimes middle carryout orders.Food: 5/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 3/5 …More
H A: Not clean and so pricey!! They have different prices when you go there that’s not matching the menu!!!
diablo: Have been here many, many times. The quality and quantity of the food has steadily declined over the past year. My most recent meal didn’t taste good and the portion sizes were not worth the prices. There are too many Indian restaurants around here to continue going to India Cafe. It’s too bad, because I used to really like this place.
Kala V: Tasteless food. None of the items including roti and Naan had any taste. The desert " kheer " appeared to have been made from leftover rice and had a stale smell. We had gone for vegetarian buffet and at the end of it we were left with a feeling that it was complete waste of our money.
Paul Hart: Food rather soupy with more of a bland taste compared to other Indian restaurants in town. Naan was good.
Sunday Akinyosola: They can waste ppl time for no reason lazy individuals
Michael Bell: Delicious every time I go. I especially enjoy the tikka masala and saag. I generally go mild, but people I eat with have been happy with the spicier options. Portions are big enough that most people will get two meals out of each order.
Randy Walker: They have very good food on a consistent basis. Nice selection of wines and beers. Service is good. Didn't have coffee at lunch which bumbed out a member of our party.
Emily E: The food here is really good. The biggest issue is I have ordered ahead for a certain time to pick up and every time it seems as though the food isn’t made until you show up. So I ended up waiting 20+ minutes for the food each time. I thought the first time it was a one time thing. But it has since happened the other times as well. So if you do order ahead, just be aware you will be waiting anywhere from 20-30 minutes for them to get the food ready for you.
Ravneet Kaur Sandhu: This place is ridiculous. They try to rip off people. They have different prices online and when you call to order. I wouldn’t mind paying the price but they should try to run business with little honesty. Btw food sucks too. Don’t go this place ever.
N Spierski: I met a friend there recently- we always used to go there for the buffet pre-pandemic. Of course there's no buffet any longer, so that made choosing what to get a little more difficult. Friend and I got the same thing- his mild and mine spicy. When it arrived, mine was not spicy at all. I asked the server when he returned if it could be more spicy and he took it back to the kitchen and returned with it, spiced up. I could've had it even spicier, but I understand their hesitation as the average person in Indiana does not have great spice tolerance. The restaurant was very clean and quiet, and although we were the only ones dining in at the time, many delivery folks paraded through while we enjoyed our meal.As for the reviewer who said there were "rats everywhere", I'm quite confused. Is this the very best Indian food I've ever had? No, it's not. But it's good enough for the price, and if you tell them what you want (spicier!), they are accommodating. Making such a bizarre claim only hurts the reviewer, in my opinion, as it's simply unbelievable. If I were to make such a claim, I'd definitely post pictures, since if they were "everywhere" as claimed, pictures would be easy to get. Incredibly odd thing to lie about.

Chris Markgraf: I was in town for a work conference with some British friends and we landed here for dinner. It was stellar and super authentic! Usual for Indian Restaurants in the Northern US to use the traditional Indian spice profiles fully (not just heat, but flavor). This visit was full of flawless flavor bombs! We had the Lamb Vindaloo, Chicken Korma, Goat Curry, 3 types Naan, Lamb Rogan Josh. All of it was simply brilliant. It's important to know it dinner that this is a sit-down restaurant and you should anticipate taking a little bit of time for properly prepared Indian dishes. FANTASTIC!
Joanna Puchlik: Amazing food at great price. It's honestly the best Indian food I've ever had so far.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
abhi saharan: totally rudeness
Thomas Colacot: We went to this restaurant last night. We ordered a chicken pakora appetizer which was smelly and tasteless. No marination or love. Later we ordered lamb biriyani and sag chicken. We could not eat the food. This was the worst Indian food we ate. The service was also not good. The only good thing was that the drinks were cheaper. We went to Aroma earlier. The quality of food was far superior.
Rv Sankrityayan: Delicious food, great ambience.

Aaron Caito: A mainstay that I hope never goes anywhere. This is my benchmark resturant for Indian buffet style joints. The best palak paneer in the city.Vegetarian options: Great variety for vegitarians
Mahmoud Abdel-Rahman: Excellent choice. Delicious food, relaxing music, great variety, great prices, great service 😀 their lunch menu (specials) is also great. 3 choices for $12 + free bread and a side of rice. highly recommended 👌Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Rhiannon H: . I don't eat Indian food often, my past experiences have been very hit or miss, but nothing else that popped up on door dash appealed and I thought hey, spicy, will open up my sinuses.I randomly chose someplace off door dash and ordered from indian garden on Delaware Ave.Oh my dog. EVERYTHING is EXQUISITE. The pakora were light and crispy and had the perfect le1vel of spice, a little zing but not "bake my face off". The chicken soup was thick and very flavorful, the mango chutney is DANGEROUS. I would eat this out of a jar with a spoon. The garlic Naan is fragrant and had a nice slightly chewy texture, and my Tikka Masala was full of chicken chunks. The mango Lassi was perfect, not to thick and not to runny. I have ZERO complaints about anything. It arrived quick and was hot and so so tasty!Definitely 5 stars and two thumbs up and I'll be ordering again.
Shirla Cavendish-Smith: Very nice staff & owner was superb. Food was good👍🏼Vegetarian options: Vegetarian menu availableFood: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Chicken Tikka Masala …More

Amber Hammond: India Garden closes at 10 pm, not 9:45 (or whatever other arbitrary time you feel like choosing that day
Matthew Smith: Really sad to see how far this place has gone downhill. Used to love the buffet, but the Tikki Masala straight up tastes like Chef Boyardee. Runny and awful.
Sharon Logan: My favorite Indian food in the city!! Best food and customer service!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Stephen Heitman: Everything was delicious. The appetizer, minced vegetables in a kind of pastry wrap, was very good, but it was the Chicken Vindaloo that was wonderful. Cubed chicken pieces with potato done in a tomato based sauce over long grain Basmati rice. I asked for medium spicy and it was perfect. Make sure to order some Naan for soaking up what remains of the sauce. This place should have been busier than it was, even in Indianapolis. On a Monday.
Tarandeep Singh: Ordered paneer masala. It was just gravy with alot of onion and approx 7-8 tiny pieces of paneer. This is not what i was expecting. very disappointed cuz when you’re paying for something that comes like this.
Ganesh G: Ordered lunch menu, looks like all are from prior day cooked. Not good at all. Not fresh , not tasty. Not coming back again.
Tania M: Great food and great prices. Will definitely return if I am in Indy again.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Chicken Tikka, Palak Paneer, Paratha, Palak Paneer Tandoori Chicken & Naan, Samosas, Chicken Vindaloo …More

Navid Jubaer: This is such a great restaurant that serves delicious dishes. We loved everything that we ordered that includes chickens tikka masala, tandoori chicken and Vijayawada chicken biriyani. And the cherry on top was the "Jigartanda" (that actually comes with a cherry :P). And we loved the owner - he is so fun to talk to. We talked our heart out and was quite loud, hope that did not disturb other guests. We felt like home there.

Lesley Neff: Food is outstanding!! Really great. But please be careful with delivery orders that everything ordered and paid for is included. Too high a cost to leave out ordered and paid for items. Thank you.
Leif Ostara: We really loved this place. We thought the food was consistently good. Tonight changed that. I went in to pick up our food and was glared at by the three people behind the counter. They didn’t say a single word to me other than an angry “thank you” at the end. We brought our food home and everything was undercooked. The pakora was completely raw inside.I thought, hmm, maybe they’re having a rough night. Then I looked at the reviews. First of all, the responses from the owner are extremely unprofessional and inappropriate. He frequently insults people and responds in, frankly, unhinged ways. But most importantly, if you read the reviews you will find multiple allegations that this restaurant is racist against black people. I believe the reviews because as a trans person, I was also ignored and treated poorly. It seems like they’re just straight up bigots. We will never return. Shalimar is way friendlier anyway.

Gori girl: The best Indian food in my opinion and I have tried them all everything that I have tried is delicious 5 STAR
Liam Paschen: First time dining in. Ordered Vegetable Pakoras, Mango Chutney, Aloo Kulcha, Butter Chicken and Lamb Tikka Masala. We were the only ones dining in but there was a constant flow of take out traffic.FOOD IS SO SO GOOD. With each bite it was that eye opening "woah" feeling. Quality of ingredients and care of cooking was really reflected in the food and the service was super nice.Only note of improvement would be carry out containers. Just standard three compartment foam container which was fine for most except that the butter chicken and tikka masala had a lot of sauce that made me nervous in such a loose container. All in all absolutely loved and cannot recommend enough.

Jessica Balascio: I really want to love this place, bc the Carmel store is so good.Alas, I cannot. Here goes the list of not-greats:-no air con; it had to be 90° in there today (it's 80° outside)-puny little buffet; doesn't have even half the offerings the Carmel location does-sat with empty waters after our initial fill when we arrived-has a musty odor; my daughter likened it to wet dog-servers are aloof and disinterested, like the Carmel locationThe bright side:-their food is delicious! We will definitely not be going back. We'll drive way to the other store from now on.Disappointing in almost every regard.AND THE GUILE TO CHARGE $17 per person for lunch? Get the heck out of here!

Monotone Matt: The rudest most nastiest person with possibly the most horrible behavior on the planet works here! The man overcharged me by about three dollars and then argued with me when I was just there the same week and they charged me around three dollars less.I went there on a Monday and it was $16 something. I ordered the same thing Saturday and it was $19 something and I ordered the exact same items! He argued with me until we had a verbal fight, and he cussed at me as well, which is unprofessional, even if a customer cusses at you,you do not cuss at the customer!!!!!!!You also do not argue with customers!!!!!The whole thing was his fault!!!!!!!Avoid this place at all costs do not give them any of your business ever!!!!!! I would never come back!!!! The disrespectful person told me not to come back, which is ridiculous, because I would never give them one more penny ever!!!!!!!Nobody should ever give them any money ever such a rude disrespectful person with horrible behavior!!!!!!!It ended up that he charged me for a larger rice instead of a small and he caused the entire conflict! I realized this once I got home and I had received a larger rice instead of a small rice. This person does not need to be working in customer service!!!!!!!!!The other two people that work the dining room are not rude, disrespectful argumentative, and nasty like the man I dealt with today! If you fire him or keep him in the kitchen, I will return, but I will never return as long as this nasty person works with customers!!!!!!! I will also tell everyone I know to never ever go there as long as he works with customers!!!!!!!! There are plenty of Indian restaurants in this city and you lost my business probably forever unless you stop that psychopath from interacting with customers!!!!!!!
Richard Carr: Food was good, chicken Tikka, flavor was there but missing the bite. The garlic naan was awesome. Portion was small for $17.99 menu prices are different than online and in the menu you get at the table. Service was good.Food: 3/5|Service: 3/5|Atmosphere: 3/5Recommended dishes Chicken Tikka Masala, Garlic Naan, Chicken Tikka …More
Nikhil Pathak: We stopped at this restaurant for lunch on our way to Chicago. Overall it was a great experience. The staff was friendly, attentive and service was too good. The food was very flavorful. The restaurant was clean and comfortable.
Ashten Spilker: Tikka Masala was delicious! I got spicy and my husband got medium. We both enjoyed.
Jeanette Benberry: We had take out, food was delicious. First time I've had Indian food. You get your money's worth & your stomach says thank you.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5 …More
Chad Watkins: Authentic Indian food and courteous staff. Excellent flavor, properly done rice, tender meat and spicy curry. The exterior and decor may not be top-tier, but the food certainly is. I'll be coming back!
Tashida Godette: Honestly, this place is a joke. Go somewhere else.... anywhere else. This is the most terrible Indian food I've ever tasted. Such a huge disappointment.
Dave Whirls: Delicious food. Great service and advise!
The GamingPro29: The food was so delicious and the quantity was more than what we expected. The curry came with naan which was a good surprise. On top of everything, the service was top notch. Would be definitely returning back.
Laura Moore: Great food!! Love this place.Food: 5/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Parking space Plenty of parking …More
Megan F.: Spent nearly $70 on four meals which would not be an issue if they actually gave us meal portions. 2 of the meals were missing rice and the naan was very small in size and their Raita was a 2/5.
Christopher Kim: Excellent

Max Pyle: The food and service here was incredible. We were also given some free food walking out the door. I will definitely be back!Recommended dishes Curries, Chicken Bun Biryani, Chicken Tikka Masala …More
Charles Terrasse: Very good food and service. We had tried shrimp curry and butter chicken and it was excellent🤟👌!!!
Thomas Baughman: Great biryani, and the naan was thin how I like it, not all pillowy.
Matthew Boone: Very tasty and authentic! Seems like they recently updated and the food was amazing. No frills dining, but they were very accommodating and free water bottles and chai :)Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly. Tom and Jerry on TV helpedParking: Lots of parking
C. Vanchhaw: This is proper South Indian food. So yummy. Love it! Finally we have found our family Indian food place. The spiced chai was so good too.
Souvik Ghosh: Recommended dishes Vegetable Dum Biryani, Masala Dosa, Chicken LollipopsMore

Anwesha Bera: My parents found this place to cater for my big one year anniversary reception. They traveled to Indy to try the food before the big day, and were so happy with it that decided on the spot to go with them for catering. The guests could not stop raving about how much they loved the food. Even afterwards, so many guests have reached out to my family and me, to ask who did the Indian catering. Thank you for making our event a success!
Niladri Kumar Mahato: Excellent food. Prompt service. Friendly staff. Goat Dum Biriyani recommended. Would visit again. Restroom could be improved. Thanks !Parking: Good number of spots.
Chandan Mahato: The food was really good. The Mutton dum biryani tasted better than the biryani i had in Paradise when i visited Hyderabad in India. The Madras Chicken curry was excellent and the Naan was soft as well. In comparison to the Hyderbad house at Castleton, the Michigan location is better. Need to keep the authenticity up.Vegetarian options: The veg curry was distinctly different than non-veg. Generally in most places it seems like the base is same for all options.
Udit C: The service was good, the person in the front was nice. But wow, food was terrible. Not sure if it was just an off day or what… I never throw away food and try to scarf it down, but in this case I had to just dispose of it. Slimey, uncooked paneer dishes, soggy as well. Even the pizza had a off putting odor and was a soggy mess.I really hope it’s not normally this bad in quality. It was just a terrible food experience and I will not be eating here again.
Aashi Jain: Afzal gave us great lunch service
Sailesh Babhania: The food is amazing! Indian food at its best. Thanks to Paul for good service!
Sarvesh Ragade: Good Restaurant and people
Prashasti Karlekar: Great food! Special thanks to afzal for attending us.
Shaleen Juneja: Afzal was an amazing host
Mithun Krishnan: Afzal, the floor manager was our host for the evening. He was extremely helpful and very kind in helping us figuring out the perfect food for the night. I would recommend to a friend!
Manish Chopra: What an amazing place! While food is great, service is even better. The person at the counter is a rock star. I have never had a better biryani!
Cassidy Belk: Great food, fair price, clean, nice staff.
Kamlesh Gupta: Good place to have Indian food, supportive staff and excellent service. Try out vegetarian dishes.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More

Spice Box: what do users think?
Kat Coffman: Disappointed when I ordered from this place. I order something with Paneer in it and there wasn't really any Paneer in it and the food had barely any spice to it. This is honestly more Americanized Indian food. If you are craving more Authentic Indian food this isn't the place for you my friend. Sorry to say.
Holly Cline: Super Good Indian Food, and pretty awesome employees, too. ;)
Sage Lysobey: My girlfriend and I were exploring City Market for the first time and weren’t even planning on eating until Theresa kindly offered us samples. She is awesome and we loved the food. Keep it up Spice Box!
Elizah Monai Gibbs: Really friendly staff and delicious food (I didn't even think I liked Indian food!). I got the chickpea entree and potatoes and peas with rice, cilantro and nana - YUM!
Nathan Petty: Worst Indian food I’ve ever eaten. Pretty sure the “Palak Paneer” we’re actually collard greens. Shrimp curry was a pool of watery curry substance...bad
Jennifer Johnson: Rice was under-cooked, there was no sauce with the shrimp curry, and overall underwhelmed. If you want great Indian my staple is the Apna food truck or their kitchen!
Mark Dinnocenzo: Really good! I got the chicken tikka and egg curry and both had great flavor and was reasonably priced. Theresa made my meal and she was lovely. Thank you!
Liam Wallace: Tasty Indian cuisine, perfect for when it's cold outside and you're craving some chicken curry with rice and naan
L Worley: Theresa and Liz were super helpful and friendly and the food was great
Kayla Grigg: Wow. What amazing customer service. The lovely ladies working were so kind and friendly. Talk about customer service and welcoming, they were great and the food was even better!
Miss Knowmer: I'd never been to City Market before, so I didn't know everything closed so early. When I got to Spice Box they were closing in a few minutes, the staff, Lizzy and Jheres, were extremely kind and friendly. Despite closing soon they didn't rush me, instead they let me sample different menu items and made recommendations on what I should get. The food was wonderful, but the amazing customer service made it even better.
Wyatt Layton: Great food
Eric Willman: Excellent fresh and flavorful Indian creations cooked to order. The City Market is not my favorite atmosphere to dine in, but the food options cannot be beat, and Spice Box is one of the finest options in the market.
Kalzzz: This is an Indian joint serving cart style food. Served in small portions it is not as filling as you would expect. Food was not that great but it is good enough for a quick bite. Worth a try. And not that expensive either. Their ‘Spice Box’ may not be as spicy for many. I ordered one and it wasn’t spicy at all. Staff there are friendly and they write little cute messages on your boxes☺️. Going here was some different experience.
Cindy Alfaro: This place serves delicious food! I am not a fan of too spicy, but I do like a little bit. I was very nervous about trying their "tacos" with the Indian twist, and I LOVE THEM! Also, the cashier person is always so sweet and nice. She takes the time to write a nice note or drawing inside the box lids, and I think that tells you how much they care about their product! Also, they are quick with the orders so when I need to quickly get something to eat, I come here.
Samantha Rowley: The food was great. I ordered a Spice box and I couldn't even finish it, it was so much food. Not very kid friendly, though. There wasn't anything on the menu that my 6 yr old could eat, other than a piece of nana. For adults, though, very tasty.
george siderys: Food and service is excellent! We had a wonderful time.
Diane G: Chicken Tikki Tacos! You have to get them. Yum!
Jennifer Saalfrank: I'm still not over the cancelled dinner service, but I can't deny this place is soooo good.
Jack Canter: Good simple eats. Vegetarian and vegan options.
Jake Hawkesworth: Very friendly people but bad food that is dry and lacking flavor
