Roger Savoie: Very cramped indoor area with a door that slams so hard you jump every time it slams shut.The ice cream is just very generic.
Michelle Savoie: Worst ice cream I've ever had. Not exaggerating. I couldn't even finish it. Tastes like Elmer's school glue. There's only 2 tables, the one we sat at felt like it was ready to fall apart, door slams very loudly every time someone comes in and employee working behind the counter was about as friendly as a rock. No redeeming qualities at this establishment.
Melissa Boussom: The owner of The Whistle Stop is a food artist. He took great care to make our sundaes look as attractive as they were delicious. We were delighted to discover he takes a dollar off his sundae price on Sunday, making his 2 scoop sundae cheaper than a 2 scoop bowl! Yes, please! When his whipped cream dispenser emptied, I was thrilled to see him pull a glass jug of cream from a local creamery near my home out of his cooler to make a new, homemade batch right there in front of us. Whipped cream never tasted so good!! The ice cream was fabulous! The hot fudge was perfect! I'm so glad I searched "ice cream near me" tonight! You need to go!
Jon Lee: First and last time here. The guy who works here was a total weirdo and had really really bad BO. After we got our ice cream we went and sat down to eat and he sat right behind us awkwardly. I’m not sure why anyone would go here again with such unpleasant service.

The nicest employees and a template for what I hope my local coop will offer once it opens.Books, fair trade decor, blankets, the cutest Easter gift baskets, candles, the coziest sweatshirts, gluten-free vegan treats, the tastiest curried cashew hummus, kombucha offerings I’ve seen nowhere else, and gf & v hot soup. Okay, they also carry my favorite raw chocolate (Rawmio out of Illinois, not carried at ANY other health food store I’ve been to) and local moisturizers made by the Soapy Gnome and Sai Shakti.*Bernie 👀 has been relocated to the bathroom, causing me a mini heart palpitation when I forgot about him until I noticed him over my shoulder while washing my hands. 😳Oh my word! I stopped in on the way to my Airbnb and couldn’t have made a better decision! Bernie greeted me, beautiful fresh flowers and plants, lovely candles and coffee and vegan, gluten free, sugar free jam (which I’ve never seen for sale in all for my travels) and all the things I’d ever need to enjoy my little mini road trip for work. I’d stay in South Bend again anytime as long as I can visit the Purple Porch!

Gina Parrish: Stocked up on Italian favorites. Lovely store, great selection, and very friendly staff. The Italian cookies were delicious.

CARS FROM CALEB: Friendly staff and great selection. If you enjoy Italian cooking, fun drinks, or building your own charcuterie, this is the place for you.
Kory: This little Italian boutique is awesome. They can be a bit pricey, but they have quite a few things you can’t find anywhere else in the area. Check out their homemade HUGE meatballs in their deli counter. There is adequate off-street parking on the property.

Tricia Blosser: This little grocery shop is the BEST! A huge variety of delicious delicacies from around the world primarily focused on Italy. Cheeses, sausages, pastas, olives (try the pitted Castelvetrano olives, omg!), sauces, bottled sodas, wines, tea, clotted cream, pastries, breads, jams, fresh fruits and veggies, and everything else you didn't even know you wanted. Go to Bamber's.Edit: Visit their deli counter! There's a wide variety of ready to go salads, sides, entrees, and desserts! I got Sicilian Arancini and a fresh loaf of sourdough bread. Yum!

Shreya Kumar: A boutique Italian market. The family who runs it is just lovely. Almost everything there is either imported from Italy or fresh baked by the owners. They also have fresh produce. Their prices seem higher, but it is only because they sell higher quality products than regular supermarkets. The place is highly recommended. One of the best locally owned stores in town.

Tamika Brown: They're selling things from savealot and aldi's and making their own price for an example I went in there today and bought butter now you all know that butter costs 99 cent and he decided to charge 4 dollars for it and he told me that it's not an community store and they get it from "walmart" but everyone knows imperial butter is not 4 dollars in Walmart so who can I call to report this store to corp for another example my kids went and bought slushies from them and they tasted like metal they need a health inspector to check that out as well , they're chips are always stale and the worker Likes to humiliate his customers and put it on social media and when they ask to delete it he says no I think we need to work together to shut down Southside grocery

Peter Pajakowski: I'm with the South Bend Fire Department. We had a big fire, right next door to the grocery store on New Year's Day, which was cold, sleeting, and windy. We were there for hours, and the owners of the store welcomed us inside to warm up, and gave us free coffee and cappuccino. They were gracious, friendly, and really helped make a long, wearisome incident a little bit better.I'd been to the grocery store once or twice, many years ago. Clearly these are new owners, because the store looks much, much nicer. It was much cleaner, better organized, and better supplies than I've seen it.

He's a foreign person and yeah when you go in there and you can barely understand him. Somebody needs to go in and keep an eye on him and if you're not his Caucasian or his natural heritage you get treated like you're nobody so you need to check that out or get rid of him

They don't stock most of their merchandise very often, there's only ever one MAYBE two people working at any given time and you can't always find them, which, in a store that small shouldn't be that hard to begin with.
